>> good morning. it does appear it is happening tomorrow morning. both the israelis and hamas say there will be an exchange of hostages for prisoners and then a four-day cease-fire will be part of this entire deal. we just returned from the gaza trip and with the israeli military getting another firsthand look at the fighting that still continues at this hour. both sides continuing fierce battles in and around gaza city. we were at gaza's al-shifa hospital. once the embargo lifts later in the day we'll bring you fresh video inside the tunnels beneath this medical facility. for the first time since this war began got to speak with palestinian civilians inside gaza. you could see the pain in their eyes as the destruction is so widespread. more than 75% of gazans are displaced amid the war. it comes amid hope for families here in israel about this possible deal that tomorrow would see around ten people released back into israel who were taken hostage on october 7th. in exchange in a 3-1 exchange for palestinian prisoners, the qatarys are working with both sides along with the egyptians and americans trying to get a deal together to allow the loved ones to come back to israel and have a brief pause in the fighting. dana. >> dana: trey yengst, thank you. >> john: at least three americans expected to be released from terrorists in gaza as part of that deal. white house reaction lucas tomlinson is live in nantucket where the president is spending thanksgiving with his family. >> he arrived last night. today 35 mile-per-hour winds and gusts up to 50. president biden arrived after that deal was announced to free some 50 hostages in exchange for 150 palestinian prisoners. the white house releasing a statement just before midnight last night, john, saying quote i appreciate the commitment that prime minister netanyahu and his government have made to have a pause to make sure the deal can be carried out and insure the provision of humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of families in gaza. it should bring home additional american hostages and not stop until they're all released. here is some reaction from texas senator ted cruz. >> i do worry that as hostilities cease for a short period of time that international pressure and sadly pressure from the biden white house will only get greater, only get more significant to try to prevent israel from resuming its work to follow through on that commitment in eliminating hamas. >> over 600 miles to the east earlier today u.s. forces carried out another round of air strikes in iraq. according to the pentagon producer, the targets were an operation and command and control building used the hezbollah. here is how u.s. central command described the air strikes as discrete precision strikes against two facilities in iraq in direct response to the attacks against u.s. and coalition forces by iran and their groups. many gop lawmakers say there was intense pressure on the biden white house on the israeli government to make this deal. >> john: lucas tomlinson braving the wind and weather in nantucket. >> dana: today is one of the busiest travel days of the year as millions trying to reach loved ones for thanksgiving tomorrow. record crowds expected. heavy rain and strong winds up in nantucket are threatening to disrupt some travel plans. aaa forecasts more than 55 million people are expected to travel more than 50 miles from home. let's bring in lee, a travel expert. how does this year compare to other ones? i remember last year was the first post covid crowd seen and it went fairly well. there are pressures on the system. >> yeah, last year people were still reeling from that debacle with the weather and southwest airlines situation. this year things are a little more under control hopefully. you can never control mother nature but i think people realize that they should be getting to the airport early, practicing some patience and hopefully traveling at off-peak times and giving yourself ample time. delays and hassles are inevitable. >> dana: the weather we can't deal with that and we just have to trust the pilots make the best decision. is there a problem with the shortage in air traffic controllers? is that contributing to some of these delays? >> well, they've been getting blamed quite a bit in the last year or two as everybody knows. if you listen to the government, they are saying they are training more and more and we should be better off this year than we were last year. like you said, i like to think they are doing the right thing and so far so good and we'll see how it goes. again, just got to take precautions and just be diligent. >> dana: the top destinations for the holidays, florida is high on the list, you also have anaheim, california, new york city, we see the tourists here and love having them. las vegas and hawaii and california. the vast middle. country are most people driving in those places? go ahead and walk away if some guy will be able to come in and take a fewe estrogen treatments. >> john: lia thomas was almost a full head taller. if you take a look at a picture of meghan cortez fields, the physical difference is very much the same. riley gaines has been very outspoken about this and later on today on america reports she will be joining us with her thoughts. and dana, you said sports athletes. don't forget there are math lets as well. >> dana: explain that one to me during the break. americans on edge, new polling shows a staggering amount of people are afraid they will become victims as rising crime plagues cities from coast to coast. we'll dig into the numbers. plus this. >> the president thinks so many young people are opposed to? >> look, i've said for months now the president's numbers have been low. it is very hard to get reelected with a 40% job approval. you need at least 45. it is about the economy, inflation, crime, immigration. it's about doing things about these problems just as when i worked with president clinton, we had an agenda for the future. i haven't heard one. we did things about the problems on a massive scale. and he has a year left to do it but it is not about communications. it is about problems. as i say, when your age is twice as good as your job approval you are in trouble. >> john: he just mentioned it is difficult to get reelected if your approval is below 45. let's flashback to 1967, this time the 21st of november of 1967, lyndon johnson's approval rating was 42%, disapproval rating 46%. didn't look like it would get better. the end of march of the next year he said i'm not running for re-election. you have to wonder when you look at his numbers, is biden thinking about the same thing? >> i don't think it is good for democrats and what we do know, the other thing we know that's clear is a successor has a much less or lower chance of winning than an incumbent. incumbents are important in an election. i would say that 42/40 is not that low if you look at it in global context. our own data shows that approval rating of 40% gives the sitting president a 50/50 chance of winning the next election. what he has to do is weather the head winds. they're strong and specifically and primarily inflation. it's cut negatively are young voters, with black voters, hispanic voters. he has to weather that for now. >> john: "the new york times" did a focus group recently where it wrote about and what it found talking to folks in this focus group. the themes that emerged from our talk provide a warning for the party. for more than an hour the participants considered its future and the people who might lead them into it. mr. biden's name didn't come up once until we asked about him. that was more than 75 minutes into the conversation. if the president is not even in the conversation with young voters, where does that leave him? >> well, you know, if i look at the nbc poll that created the ruckus, if you look at the democratic primary he gets 77% of democrats saying they want him to be the democratic nominee. so we can talk about his low ratings but within the democratic party, they have said biden is it and doesn't look like he will do a lyndon johnson at all. he either has to improve his numbers or lose or project the other candidate as a goldwater, johnson may have pulled out of one race but there are a couple of strategies here that president biden can deploy. getting out doesn't look like it will be one of them. >> john: you mentioned a large number of democrats would vote for him. then there was this one woman, her name is yvonne, 60 years old "the new york times" talked to who said this, clifford. his age is showing a lot. he is not strong. we need someone stronger. we need someone to defeat the other side. unfortunately if it's trump, especially. unfortunately i like the man, biden, but i think his time is done. the problem for the democratic party is if biden's time is done they are running out of time to put up a candidate to primary him. there are a number of deadlines that have already passed so if they will change horses they will have to do it midstream at the convention. >> even if they change horses, that's a risk, right? successor running has less of a chance. i would say the following. our polling and the polling out there suggests that biden is seen as older, having less energy. but trump is not far behind as well. elections are about choices. >> john: age is a number. an 81-year-old can be like a 60-year-old or they can be like a 95-year-old. >> elections are choices. deciding who you vote for you will consider those things. age will cancel itself out when the other issues come to the fore and other people think about them. >> john: happy thanksgiving to both of you. thank you for joining us today. appreciate it >> dana: millions of americans taking to the skies today with hopes of making it to their loved ones in time for thanksgiving. will bad weather keep them grounded?
