[s [sound of explosions] >> ainsley: intense fighting comes as hamas says they are close to a prisoner swap deal with israel. bryke trey yingst is in israel, what do we know? >> trey: final details are being discussed for a ceasefire that could end fighting for up to four days. the scene behind me issue israelis continue to pummel northern part of the gaza strip. this is neighborhood. we follow reports about the possibility of a ceasefire. they do indicate this would include release of dozen of israeli and foreign civilian hostages expected to be only women and children and exchanged for prisoners being held in israel. this is being negotiated by the qataris. for every returned home, there would be pause in fighting and surveillance would have to stop hovering over gaza for six hours per day. hamas may use this time to move their fighters and personnel from the northern part of the strip. we have video from khan yunis they have been trying to move forward and move civilians to southern part of the strip. over the past 48 hours jordanian field hospital team will be setting up in southern part of the strip. israelis will try to push -- put more pressure on gaza city hoping the ceasefire deal will come to fruition and they can return loved ones to israel as fighting continues in gaza. >> brian: trey, is it true hamas fighters captured are talking about the hospital and how they were dressed like doctors and nurses while hiding hostages and guns and weapons there? is this a big deal on israeli television? >> trey: yeah, absolutely, we are getting a lot of information on the ground and what information they are receiving from interrogations taking place. they have been able to capture people who committed this horrific massacre against the civilian population. yesterday israeli forces were able to round up 300 militants and they are giving information about the whereabouts of hamas leadership inside gaza. they have moved to khan yunis and rafah and why the weapons are being launched from 46 days into the conflict. >> lawrence: how is soldier life for the idf? >> what we're seeing before october 7 and since october 7 is just quite alarming. jewish students and all students who don't align with this extremist ideology, people marching and chanting from the river to the sea for genocide of israel people, they are afraid and young voters are aware israel's security is intertwined with america's security and they realize democrats have opened their arm to progressive people that are extremists, tearing down posters of hostages and american flags. they are chanting death to israel and america. voters, no matter the age, see we need a change. >> lawrence: i see you nodding your head, this is a big issue. >> every major city in the united states is under attack and on the decline. we've seen homelessness, immigration overrunning our city. who is paying? us the taxpayers. new york city is like something i've never seen before and that needs to change. >> lawrence: it is young voters and minority voters saying enough is enough, we are not doing good. >> it brings me back to what i was saying earlier, economy plays a huge part. now illegal immigration piece is playing another major part. here in new york city, we have cuts coming down the pike that are going to affect the brown and black community like the illegals being pushed into the communities, sucking up resources from the long-time residents, poor taxpayers have to foot the bill for these people and we can't afford to pay our own rent. we have tax coming down to programs and different things that are going to be cut from our community to pay for illegals. there is a problem with that. there is a huge problem with it. you know, minorities may be silent as far as being vocal. in 2024, the new election cycle, we're going to see an overwhelming amount of people that we have not seen in 30 years come out to vote. people are being educated on how to change voter registration, question 14, and people are walking away from the plantation of the democratic party once and for all. >> lawrence: as an independent voter, democrats target different groups, targeting of minority, young voters is not working for them. could you see yourself giving a shot this election? >> i am focused on security of this country, which i think is tied to israel. my issues are normally abortion and rights and equality for everyone. right now i am a single issue voter. i will vote for whoever i think is strongest on those subjects. >> lawrence: looks like democrats will double down on abortion, do you think that is enough for democrats to reelect joe biden? >> if you ask on a personal level how i vote on abortion, i am pro-choice 100% of the time. to me, it is secondary issue, we have to make sure america is around for the next four years and not turned into another country that is part of the middle east. this is a real threat to democracy, we're seeing it unravel in front of our own eyes and not doing anything to combat it. i can talk about abortion later. for the first time abortion rights were reduced under president biden, i think it is ir irrelevant who our president is. >> lawrence: good point. i only have 30 seconds, if you had the opportunity to speak to the president, what would you tell him? >> benjamin: it's been an emotional weekend for me. the trip had to sole purposes. if you get knocked down, pick yourself up and keep going. i wanted to go back and this is what this weekend was about. aside from remembering pierre and sasha who died. president zelenskyy did not hold back, he talked about lack of potential support from americans and how israel had taken the eyes of the world away from ukraine and thinks this is a critical moment and said russia may have pushed the world to the brink of world war iii. there is concern that could go on. it reminds everyone journalism must never stop, keep going back no matter how difficult. >> brian: it is important to know who is the good guys, it is the ukrainians. are you amazed how people have lost the theme here? >> yes, and i think president zelenskyy was concerned about that. he said the war is full throttle right now, we met with minister of defense and minister of intelligence, it is a war going on every second and families being destroyed and russia is showing plans to move forward. yes, they want people to remember this war continues and what you see in israel is terrible, you see similar terrorism inside ukraine. it was a call to be reminded what is going on in this country. >> brian: tonight is the full interview or a lot of the interview with bret. here is a clip you will let us see and share a message to our colleagues that lost their lives in ukraine. here is the exchange. >> two of my team were killed when i injured, pierre and sasha. >> condolences to parents and relatives of the men and women who lost their lives because they wanted to help ukraine. history of ukraine will never forget such brave people. >> brian: very sincere. >> benjamin: absolutely. we remember pierre and sasha, as well and he understands the risk journalists are taking. it is something we have to continue to do. pierre and sasha will be heroes in ukraine for life and he respected what we all do and he was grateful and very personal to talk about pierre and sasha to remember them and remember that journey. when i left ukraine, it was on the same train when i was barely alive and badly injured. i held it together and as i went in, i was coming full circle and going back to where it happened. for pierre, sasha, and the ukrainians that have been injured, the war continues and it is our job to keep telling the stories of what is happening there. >> brian: secretary of defense followed with $100 million allocated delivered there. an important moment for the ukrainians to see him. >> benjamin: yes, president zelenskyy was not concerned funding would immediately stop, he knows there are hold-ups in the government. he is looking closely at the upcoming election and did say he is aware shifting opinion could change and i mentioned president trump's suggestion he could solve the war and president zelenskyy said if you will bring president trump to me, we will sit down live on air and hear his peace plan. he said there is no peace plan possible. whatever we give away, russia wants more and that is just given over to russia. no peace plan in mind for him whatsoever and he will talk live on air with anyone who thinks that is a possibility. >> brian: he's been at war in bunkers and wearing fatigues, did he look worn out to you? >> and this will cook on top of your group and you can keep it in the aluminum foil. it stays on the grill for about 10, 12, 15 minutes. or you can put it in the oven, or you can for it. a lot of southerners love to try it, too. my mom's rates were the best. she would cook them for hours and hours and hours. everything was homemade and she took pride in that. so she was a great cook. when you help me with that? you put the grits in and if you have not have grades, it is like a cream of wheat. it is really good. you can put cheese in it, american cheese. exactly. >> that you put a lot of butter in it. >> and use real cream. you need real cream. at that cream. you cook it for hours and it ends up looking like this. you can share a bite of fish and grits together on the same -- >> yummy. in. and we have tomatoes here, too?
