i mean, it is true. >> 81 is not a big birthday anyway. >> bret: it's not age. >> , no, it isn't. that's what joe biden has been saying continually. he says watch people and he says watch me. and it annoys people. >> bret: and that's the problem they have been watching. great american statesman. approval rating on how he is handling the war, the israeli-hamas war is very positive in the nbc poll is getting a lot of reps and i understand why. there was a u gov poll last week 12,000 interviews, 62% approval in ernls it of his handling and the demo where he had the highest approval rating is actually young voters. if you look at what happened in the midterms, you look at all of the special election, the referendums about the dobbs decision, for instance, i don't see how it's even feasible to believe that trump gets within 10 points on the youth vote let alone the 1 point striking distance that he had in that poll black vote. that's something that democrats can't win, obviously be. >> bret: so is trump. moving up in siena and other polls. >> again, we talked about this on thai. trump is not getting 22% of the black vote. did he better than all other republicans. but it would have to be a complete upside downtown, right, in american electoral politics. i get it donald trump is upside downtown to at love us. i think we are 11 months out as you said. we look back, i was looking at nate silver's piece that he put out around this time in 2011. is obama toast? mitt romney is up 5 points and then he coasted to re-election and had a successful second term. >> bret: i'm not sure the obama-biden thing is apples to apples. looking at this going wait a second. this is not working. >> brian: nobody doubted -- you could be the biggest detractor of barack obama. no one could say is he not talented no. one can say he can't give a great speech. trailing by five or six points. okay. right message, things break the right way he could do it. nobody thinks that joe biden is getting better. nobody thinks joe biden has another year. i don't think joe biden thinks he has another gear. he will do it through surrogates. almost everything in preparing for this, is unprecedented. almost everything we are going over between the number of well-known third party, fourth, fifth, and six party candidates looking at and looking at incumbent where you have stalwarts in their party saying i really hope he doesn't run, the "wall street journal" saying it's selfish, david axelrod saying what he is saying. all of a sudden the pushback is pretty clear. trump, nazi. we already had that last week. the atlantic writing has anyone noticed how old donald trump is? that was the stoffer that just broke a little while ago and they go down the few things that he said that he is 77 years old. the thing that stands out to me is the independence. only 30% approve of what he is doing. i just worry about this. within the israeli war, we are looking at biden putting his ire on the west bank on the israelis? and a frustration among our troops that they are being targeted in iraq and syria and all we are hitting is empty depots. our guys are right in the middle of the thick of things saying are we going to get permission from this president to defend ourselves. >> jessica: can i say something quickly about the coverage of this? first of all, it does matter that donald trump is 77 years old. and the way that his age manifests is that he sounds more child like. he forgets things all the time he confuses who is in office. >> brian: after an hour speech. >> jessica: i don't care. it's a harder job than just an hour. the point about the atlantic and other publications comparing him to a nazi when he called leftists vermin he was echoing how adolf hitler talked and how mussolini spoke. >> bret: you think is he a student of history? >> jessica: stephen miller told him that that's the kind of language that you should use. >> bret: hold on, hold on. let bill. >> bill: disapproval number biden today compared to obama and romney and ronald reagan. went all the way back. biden is at 58% roughly. obama was at 48%. that's 10 points better. >> bret: yeah. >> bill: i think for democrats and joe biden, to brian's point, they are going to run this campaign through social media. and tiktok. >> bill: the left has high tech wired. that's where the republicans, if they don't catch up now, are -- they are going to have hell to pay come november because the democrats know how to do this. >> bret: so, ron desantis got some pick up talking about trump's age. >> bill: a lot. >> bret: saying he is getting old. i thought that this release today from trump's medical staff was about biden's birthday. but it may have been more about governor desantis and his comment. here is the report from trump's personal physician. i'm pleased to report that president trump's overall health is excellent. his physical examines are well within normal range. his cognitive examines were exceptional. president trump has improved weight through improved diet. continued daily activity. rigorous trial he will continue to enjoy a healthy lifestyle for years to come. >> case closed. >> is that from the guy on the upper east side? >> different guy. >> bret: i got to run. go ahead. >> brian: main thing issues are coming to trump without his campaign, without him emphasizing it. if you look at the border and foreign policy and the economy and inflation and gas prices, you look at where we are with illegal immigration, overwhelming sanctuary cities, these issues, all the things that were so out of the mainstream in 2016, 2018, 2019 are now in 2024 going i want those -- i would like to revisited that. >> bret: i could continue this panel for a long, long time. >> jessica: let's stay all night. >> bret: i just called an audible. i dropped the kicker. that's how much i like these guys. >> brian: you dropped the kicker? >> jessica: let's talk about the gaffes. >> bret: tomorrow correspondent benjamin hall and exclusive interview with volodymyr zelenskyy. a big deal for him to go back to ukraine. also, with our ceo and the big guy, lachlan murdock. thanks for inviting us in your home tonight, fair, balance bald unafraid. here is laura. ♪
