washington has become a clamshell. a place where lawmakers act like they are in elementary school. calling each other nasty names. it is a travesty. i am not exaggerating. it is been a pressure cooker as they tried to avoid a government shutdown, which they did, by the way. that is no excuse. oklahoma senator who had been trading jabs with sean o'brien and the labor leader showed up to testify. >> a time and a place, we can be to consenting adults. we can finish it here. want to do it right now? >> i would love to do it right now. >> then stand your butt up. >> you stand your butt up. >> you are a united states senator, acted. sit down, please. >> is this incumbent to a senate and senator? that is not how we behave in oklahoma and ironman oklahoman first. >> bernie sanders seems to be the voice of reason here. everything you just saw was a complete and utter embarrassment >> i am with laura on this one. republican tim burchett who helped oust kevin mccarthy accusing the speaker of a painful jab. >> why did you elbowed me in the back? hey, kevin, you got any guts? >> why did you elbowed me in the back? >> did you elbowed him? >> i would did not elbowed him. i would not hit him in the kidney. >> this is ridiculous. kevin is acting 12 years old. >> another reason why much of the country cannot stand washington. i am howard kurtz and this is "media buzz." ♪ >> did you think i was done? i am not done. taking a whack at democratic congressman jared moscowitz. >> you look like a smurf. >> a smurf? you cannot make this stuff up and nobody is defending it. >> it was a chaotic and oddly violent day on capitol hill where republicans dysfunction, stunts and anger becoming more and more extreme. what would happen in your office if you elbowed your coworker in the kidney, challenged him to a fight. >> editor at large the spectator and fox news contributor. renew democracy. one on earth is happening here in d.c.? is everyone going nuts? >> i think what you are seeing is the ramifications of this type of clown show that's been going on for so long that things naturally have to escalate. you knock off one speaker and everybody loses their minds. this is one of those situations where i will defend a little bit of what is going on. i think these are people who genuinely dislike each other and have not figured out a way to navigate to that in this particular moment. when mark wayne stands up like that, he has a universal sign of a guy that was actually ready to punch somebody. four women, the equivalent of taking off your earrings. and then when it comes to the mccarthy thing, i don't know if it was a security guy what actually happened there in the jumble. everyone is on edge. everyone is absolutely on edge. the reason is they are bouncing from chaotic see our moment to chaotic cr moment without any kind of resolution. the mccarthy experience with him getting vacated in no way loose indenting of the energy that was caught up in d.c. if there is a change that somehow people could come together after it and be able to work together, that was chaotic, but let's move on. no one is moving on. >> if i do not like your answers , i will be elbowing you on your way out. >> it is exactly the same thing. you've got a new coach. he has been here for just seven years. six-seven years. he has not build up the enemies that have been there longer. it is an open question of what he is going to do when he gets out of that honeymoon. and he is facing all the same challenges that mccarthy was facing, republicans are facing generally. having such a slim margin in just one half of the body of congress. >> as with kevin mccarthy, democrats bailed out the new speaker because all but two of them voted yes on the stopgap funding measure. i have a sense of déjà vu. is the press sick of this story?
