"america's newsroom." sources say one of the american strikes killed at least half a dozen iranian-backed fighter after a flurry of attacks against american troops throughout the region. >> dana: coinciding with israel's war on hamas. they continue to hunt the terrorists in gaza and fending off strikes from lebanon where the iranian-back terrorists of hezbollah have become increasingly active. >> mike: general jack keane analysis but alex hogan is live from northern israel where fighting is on the rise. >> major escalation here in the northern part of israel. the sound of artillery and drones is constant. we can hear some machine gunfire far in the distance. it was yesterday, sunday, it was the most active day of fighting we've seen since the beginning of the war. 21 people wounded including soldiers and civilians. >> attacks and retaliation has increased in the past few days. >> israeli military in northern israel this was just -- now this is used as an idf base targeting hezbollah sites on the other side of the hill behind me in lebanon where it will continue to put pressure on israel using new ammunition and weapons. idf here says it is ready to respond in the event of any continued strikes. >> as long as they keep quiet on the other side, we'll keep quiet here. >> with hezbollah's use of advanced long range missiles the idf fortified border with the largest military presence here in nearly two decades. looking south israeli forces today have reached the gates of gaza's main hospital. the idf says this area, because of the underground tunnels, is a hamas stronghold and key to their goal of taking control of northern gaza. the world health organization warns that the major hospital there has been without electricity or water for three days. that means no power for incubators. workers say 32 patients have died including three nicu babies. the israeli government says it is attempting to help rescue some of those babies and bring them out. help the hospital denies is happening. >> mike: alex, many thanks. >> dana: more with general jack keane, strategic analyst. can we talk about the northern border there? just last week the head of hezbollah seemed to say that they were staying out of it. are they? >> well, i think he is threatening the use of force. he doesn't appear all that committed to the use of it. i don't think he is the decision maker anyway. i believe the supreme leader in iran really will call the shot here. what they're trying to do by conducting limited measured attacks on troops in northern israel is to tie up as much of the idf in the north as possible so that they're not deployed in the south and why hamas has been encouraging hezbollah. they want them to do more than that. what hezbollah really has and where they would have something of an advantage is the 130,000 rockets and missiles that have a greater range, more precision and more lethalality than hamas. they could reach every city in israel. israelis would respond significantly with air power. if they couldn't stop it and the casualties were unacceptable, only then would they ask the united states to get involved. we would get involved with our air power only. it would be quite effective. that's what's potentially in the offing. >> dana: could you speak to us about the air strikes that killed some iranian proxies yesterday in syria? >> well, the focus certainly changed. this is the third strike and this time the focus was on people. a training center and safe house where people were in there. and as opposed to weapons and ammunition and storage sites in the last two. i don't know if it's going to be effective. i would want it to be effective as everybody does. my sense is it will not be because it is not comprehensive enough dealing with the proxies themselves. go after the leaders, go after the fighters, go after the rockets, missiles, drones, go after all the infrastructure. do it all at once in one night. that's well within u.s. strike capability. no risk to a single pilot in doing that. that, i think, may get their attention. but still, i think you have to tell the iranians and give them a warning and hold the irgc at risk who is superviseor, directing, and supporting all these operations with hamas, hezbollah, with the houthis and also with these iranian and syrian proxies that are attacking the united states. and remember, iran is trying to send a message here to the allies in the region. the united states can't protect its own bases what makes you think they'll protect you. we should not let the message stand, frankly. and put the assets in iran that the irgc owns. we had two presidents that broke the code here. reagan under attack in the persian gulf, u.s. capability, our allies capability and the flow of oil. he attacked iran's oil platforms and irgc bases and they shut him down. president trump attacked solomony by the same prox less attacking us now and went after the leader of the force and killed him. they did respond militarily as they would in this case but most of our judgments are they would eventually shut down because of fear of direct conflict with the united states. >> dana: let me also ask you one last question about this hospital. this is in gaza, the idf maintains this is where underneath the hospital is where hamas has its headquarters. we are seeing some images that are very troubling. you have little babies that are at this hospital. israel is doing pauses to help get people out of the area. they are in a war. what should the idf be thinking about right now as it plans to go in? they want to eradicate hamas but hamas puts itself underneath innocent civilians. >> how diabolical and sinister is all this and certainly they want all those film of what's taking place in that hospital out there in the public media certainly as propaganda tools. your heart goes out to what is taking place and the suffering. all the suffering is caused by who? >> interesting to see. the biden political machine waited until he was trailing trump in key swing state polls to start going after trump by name. that's what's happening behind closed doors and getting a sense of what the campaign will look like issue-wise. the president told donors in illinois the truth is this guy can't get tired of losing. when the supreme court majority overturned roe v. wade they dared women in america. the only reason abortion is banned in america is because of donald trump. he appeared confused, laying a wreath and a variety of recent polls have roughly 3/4 of voters concerned about the president's age. >> no matter how effective joe biden is behind the scenes, in front of a camera what he is projecting is causing people concerns and that's worrisome. >> so age a big issue, as the president was telling these donors, so is access to abortion. it was a major motivator for democrats in elections last week. we tried to figure out with the president which issue wins. >> why do you think it is people should be more concerned about abortion access than your age? >> i don't think it's a comparable comparison. >> president biden is hosting world leaders including china's xi in san francisco this week with a new souped up version of a rose garden strategy. >> mike: peter doocy live on the north lawn. thank you very much. >> dana: new york city's mayor eric adams says he has nothing to hide after the f.b.i. seized cell phones and ipad part of a dramatic escalation of a federal investigation from illegal donations from the country of turkey. paul mauro, just so we have it on the record. new york mayor adams said this. i expect all members of my staff to follow the law and cooperate with any invery gags. i will do that. i have nothing to hide. >> let's are he count the facts. a week again, ten days while the mayor is in washington, d.c. for a meeting that he pushed with other mayors of major cities in this country regarding the border and the migrant flow into the major cities, he gets word that his chief fundraiser has just had her house search warranted by the f.b.i. he drops the white house level meeting, comes flying back. right there is a tell. he is concerned. he finds out that like we all did, they took boxes, electronics there this woman. she is 25 years old, only ever worked for adams. then the entire story he begins to get a little more serious i would argue for mayor adams. we find out monday of last week, a week ago, that in what must have been a dramatic moment, the f.b.i. confronted the mayor at an event outside nyu. got in his city s.u.v. , asked the nypd detail to step off. had a warrant and took all his electronics. according to the reporting, 2 or 3 phones and 1 or 2 tablets. all his communications. subsequent to that the mayor, who is taking this seriously, hires a personal attorney. interestingly the attorney he has hired used to be the head of the unit that's currently investigating him. the head of the public corruption squad here in town. so you have this cascading events that really look like he is in the crosshairs of the f.b.i. >> dana: how does turkey come into this? >> he has a number -- if you look at the reporting he has a number of troublesome scenarios regarding funding for his campaign. it is not just from the turks. there are other pipelines. we have this up on the ops desk and sub stack putting out the pipelines that looked like they were bundling. you could right to it. >> dana: explain bundling. >> you get straw donors. you are only allowed to give a certain amount of money per person. you find other people unwittingly in their name it looks like you are getting donations from a wide gambit of human beings. many people had no idea they donated to the adams' campaign. the feds are focusing on the turkish angle. he has a very unusual and somewhat unexplainable relationship to members of the turkish government. he has been there 6 or 7 times. a lot of turkish folks around him since 2014. not a big voting block in new york city. less than 1%. you have to say what's in it for both sides? >> dana: there was this other detail he gave the go ahead for a new building the turks wanted to open. is that a quid pro quo? >> if that's what they'll hang their hat on for this case i feel this is all smoke and mirrors. that can't be it. if that's all they get i would say it's a swing and miss. but the f.b.i. doesn't bring a case like this, search warrants, open grand jury, by the way, that suggs has been subpoenaed into. you don't do all that to get a 25-year-old fundraiser unqualified for her job. they are looking for bigger fish. >> dana: new york is going to new york, another example. >> feds are going to fed. we'll see what happens. >> dana: very interesting. thank you. >> mike: the white house revealing a 3-year-old american is among the hostages being held by hamas. the terror group murdered the toddler's parents. president biden mentioned the kidnapped baby during a call with qatar. the country is working as a mediator on the hostage crisis. nine americans are among the hundreds of people being held in gaza. bryan llenas has the latest from new york city. >> a pro-palestinian protest held by the committee against apartheid at mit thursday morning got so bad that mit's president said the university quote had serious concerns that it could lead to violence. mit threatened to suspend students if they did not disperse from mit's main entrance where the protest was held against university policy. the suspensions will not happen. the university's president explaining they decided not to follow through because of fears international students who took part in the protests could be deported. mit has nearly 3500 international students. 11% of the undergraduates and 42% ever grad students. the president said because we later heard serious concerns about collateral consequences for the students such as visa issues we have decided as an interim actions the students will be suspended from non-academic campus activities. the students will remain enrolled at mit and able to attend academic classes and labs. the israel alliance and its supporter group says the lack of real discipline will only encourage anti-semitic behavior writing students from the committee against apart hide harassed mit staff members in their offices for being josh and interrupted classes with no clear response from the administration. with each passing day their silence makes jewish and israeli students feel unsafe at mit. two dozen students were arrested at brown university last week. on friday seven people were arrested at a protest at a university that banned a pro-palestinian student group and here at columbia university two pro-palestinian groups have been suspended for at least this semester. >> dana: some of the students look so young and they are making choices that might not reflect well on them later on. >> mike: let's bring in the graduate president of the israel alliance. good morning. >> thank you for having me. >> mike: jewish students at mit were unable to attend classes due to a hostile blockade of anti-jewish students. some jewish students say they don't feel safe at mit. what is your experience? >> absolutely. on thursday there was a blockade by the coalition against apartheid, the anti-israel group on campus. they staged a blockade in lobby seven, the main thoroughfare of mit and that leads to the vast majority of classrooms and offices. they blocked the hallways so people couldn't get through. you had to squeeze through if you wanted to get by. honestly, they were chanting, they were holding signs, even threatening the life of the mit president, having her name is blood splattered on it. it was no way a situation even if you could get to your classroom you could focus on your studies because of this constant -- it started at 8:00 a.m. and didn't end until after 8:00 p.m. constant throughout the whole day and they took over the campus, mit essentially let them do that. >> mike: i would like to put on a text message exchange sent to you from one of your classmates. did you see what's going on? i'm scared. please tell me you are safe. >> mike: you are there as a graduate student. how has the environment changed? >> i've never experienced anything like this. this is my eighth year here. the college campus, there are always people who don't like israel, anti-israel sentiment amongst a small group of students but i have never seen anything this big and so constant. you know, it's not that there is just one rally or interrupting classes one time. this is happening every other day on campus to the point where a lot of jewish and israeli students don't feel comfortable coming to campus. at the daycare on campus, the anti-israel protestors were screaming outside of the daycare and the israeli parents were called to get their kids to come home early because they were worried there would be some kind of violence. there is no situation in which an israeli student should have to worry about their kid being safe at mit's daycare. that's unacceptable. whatever mit administration says they are doing the fact is we don't feel safe and i sent over videos that i hope you will be able to show of another protest yesterday which involved even more people on mit steps and that was not just mit students but the whole protest was co-signed by the coalition against apartheid at mit and leaders of the club spoke. hundreds of people yelling on mit steps to globalize the intifada and use your two fists and sacrifice everything for palestinian. no way a jewish student can come to campus and feel comfortable if this is being screamed by hundreds of random people every day. >> mike: sorry to hear these stories. thank you for sharing them. wish you best. >> dana: caught on video the moment of a texas trooper pulls over a car with human smugglers and child victims. what happens next?
