there were reports from israeli tv channels there may be a larger hostage still coming together 50 -- 100 women, children, elderly do you know anything about that can you update us? >> there are attempts at bringing about hostages we give it a chance we are still not sure how serious hamas is i prefer to leave it at that. some things are better not discussed in the public. >> couldn't give can you give ut the positives? i have heard the prime minister talk about this they have been different reports can you give clarity to what that means? >> israel's doing two things. the humanitarian corridors allow people to go up from the north where there is heavy fighting to the south where they are safe zones. and today since we started we now have two major allowing people to go freely to the sou south. hundreds of thousands of people moved already over 200,000. at the same time by the way the fact they are moving tells us that people sent to hamas is trying to keep them in harms way and date someone hamas to turn them into human shields and more and more learning to the south by the second thing we did a few days ago as we started daily humanitarian localized in certain neighborhoods in the north and ns south. every day we give notice to the population a few hours they can go out. they can't replenish themselves. they can get medical treatment. they can move to the south or whatever they do. every day and a different neighborhood according to the administration and the north. that is been very effective. >> you know there are plenty of critics who think this is not a strategic enough targeted enough strategy that the israelis have right now. there are critics calling for a cease-fire more broadly they talk about the hospitals about medical care. the "washington post" has an opinion piece that says this. raising entire neighborhoods to the ground is not an answer for the egregious crimes committed by hamas. to the contrary it's trading a new generation of aggrieved palestinians who are likely to continue the cycle of violence. do you worry about the long-term impacts of what you're doing now? let's first of all i take issue with his criticism. the very targeted and what we do. people have to understand gaza is the biggest terror complex with over 500 kilometers of tunnels paid those tunnels not shelters for the population but for military equipment, rockets, the leadership in command-and-control structure. we have tens of thousands of tunnels we have to fight them we have to remove hamas from israel it is very complicated because they turned it into human shields we are not targeting the population. we call on them to the south. i believe that what we see today with more and more people moving to the south indicates to us these people do not want to serve as human shields for hamas. they understand they don't like us but they don't like hamas either. >> postwar is talking about they would be open to some kind of governing role of the u.s. is committed to a two state solution. what does israel want to see long term with respect to gaza? you anticipate maintaining a presence military or otherwise? what's the are not in gaza to occupy gaza or government gaza we are there to move the hamas military threat against israel. and their ability to rebuild capabilities strike again and again as they are saying they would like to do. that is our intent. long-term we put a lot of thinking into that we are entering that with the administration about that. we understand the opposition will have to govern themselves. what is the exact role of the authority remains to be seen because everyone understands its current composition they can hardly govern. so certainly not gaza. they will have to undergo a reform. but in the meantime they are left to govern gaza. >> quickly what is your message to u.s. lawmakers as we fight over our own financial house that is out of order they are a major aid packages some involving israel. what is your message? >> first of all we are thankful to the u.s. administration for putting forward the aid package, the aid to israel and the package we will support on condition that it goes to a post hamas gaza into emergency needs of what we are trying to do and gaza and don't look to the hands of the wrong people like hamas and others. at that is a package will certainly support it. >> mr. ambassador thank you for your time we wish you well. >> thank you very much. you may now virginia senator mark warner welcome back to fox news weekend. i want to get some of your reaction that you expressed concerns israel is not being precise enough with these strikes you for the ambassador there. it says very targeted hundreds of miles or kilometers in his words of these terror tunnels everywhere. they are offering to evacuate from hospitals there in communication with them. what was your reaction? >> my reaction includes route clearly israel has a right to defend itself and hamas has been using human shields but the images do not lie. we have seen four weeks at some level indiscriminate israeli bombing ember terms with artillery and some of the bombings. i think now that the troops have surrounded gaza city i think they are getting more targeted. it is very important these humanitarian causes take place each time so people can get to safety but also we have seen literally hundreds of folks with american passports be able to leave gaza into egypt that is important as well. one of the things we have to realize is clearly israel has the military ability to take out hamas. this is also a battle about hearts and minds in terms of maintaining support for israel in this country. in the world and in the region one of the things a number of us press the israeli government and we have seen some positive response, it stopped turning away from the violence in the west bank i have had fear for a long time what happen happened e palestinian security services all quit and suddenly the west bank would a rub as a second flank that is why israel we are holding israel to a higher standard than hamas it is a civilized nation. that's why it's important to both the pauses and to make sure as much as possible they are targeting. shannon: i've spent time there in and know how tense that situation is. i sought yesterday to senators rosen and rubio are going to offer abilities for senator to screen some these videos that show the hamas atrocities. would you attend that this week to watch? >> i've seen some of those already is my role o in the chairman intelligence committee. i hope to see the whole 40 odd minutes. they will be horrific images. i do think recognizing you have to protect the privacy of these families who have been so abused but the more israel can release some of this footage, the mor more - -- as they achieve their goals and declassify information to demonstrate there are at least tunnels under the hospital i think it is terribly important. otherwise, what america sees in the world sees is some of the horrible images of now over 11000 palestinians killed very practical talk about iran. we have this image of iran's president biran'spresent been wn saudi arabia. denouncing israel, calling for the international role to go after them for war crimes. there have been questions about whether this administration is being tough enough on a rather several tex attacks by iranian proxies on our soldiers in the region but wall street journal editorial writing this iran is not impressed by u.s. airstrikes the confounding reality is present biden's weak response to attacks on u.s. forces aren't deterring ira iran and x proxies which increase the risk of escalation for they also point out the u.s. has not been cracking down on oil sanctions. iran exporting to benefiting tens of billions of dollars. do you think the administration is handling around well? >> i think by placing both the carrier group and the r in the , eastern med announcing we have sent a submarine we've never normally announced that. bombing some of the facilities outside of iran i think is terribly important. iran is very aware of the military presence. i also think it's kind of unusual we sought the republican debate earlier this week for everybody was talking about let's go after iran directly which it could literally lead to a widespread regional war. and the thing i don't understand again from some of the republican presidential candidates as they want to be tough on iran but they want to walk away from putin's aggression in ukraine. who is iran's biggest ally? it is russia. iran as providing is providingr russia. the idea we are going to allow a dictator to win in terms of a pollutant and ukraine and then not recognize there is a connection between russia, between iran, between a president xi in china is shortsighted. i do think our focus is on the middle east focus with the president in terms of meeting with president xi but it would be a historic mistake if america walked away from ukraine at this point. the very people who are criticizing the president now, no country would ever trust us again if you walk away from ukraine. >> isn't there something in between walking away and providing some funding or endless open ended funding which americans are worried about. we talked about this last week the polling numbers to show a lot of americans are growing apprehensive about something that has no end in sight. we are about to run out of money by friday if you guys don't get something done on the hill. none of us at home could run our budgets this way so what you say to folks? these are american tax dollars how to make these priorities. >> the fact is a literally combined with our european allies in her frankly drink more on the humanitarian sides and matching dollar for dollar on the defense side additional $60 billion for the whole balance of the fiscal year ukraine's have literally destroyed over half of russia's military capabilities with not a single loss of an american soldier or native soldier. if we walk away from ukraine, nato which is been extent banded by finland and sweden but faith will they have in us again? i am hugely concerned about china on an economic basis, technology basis people are flunking geopolitics if they think giving putin a win on ukraine will not send a signal to president xi in china they got a green light. shannon: let's talk about that meeting this week they're going to be together in san francisco there's a lot of pressure for measurable deliverables from this meeting. what should the president's message be? except pre-signaled having military and military communications grade someone picks up the phone if there is an incident we sought nobody picking up the phone after the shooting down of the chinese balloon. i also think we need to keep pressure on china in terms of stopping the intellectual property theft close to $500 billion a year. and i hope that we will also do is rally other allies in the region because as chairman of the national security now is not simply who has the most tanks and guns and ships and planes it's who is going to win the battle for artificial intelligence. advanced telecommunications 5g and beyond. we could win all of those battles both got to them of the allies as well regress and got the guys have to ask you quickly adapted we talk talked about ths numerous times tiktok there's a lot of worry right now it's what young people are reading is what they get their news. you have talked about bipartisan efforts to get rid of it or to change ownership force ownership change of it where are we? >> a lot of creative things on tiktok. that is great i just do not want to be controlled by the communist party of china what we need is not a one off taking off on tiktok alone we need to go after foreign technology from china, russia, iran in an organized legal way. i have got a broad-based bipartisan bill. i hope some of the folks who were hesitant will take a fresh look at that for someone else's got a good idea i will look at that as well this is that battle in terms of who controls technology project it's framing an entire generation for chairman good t happy with this thank you. shannon: senator mark warner always good to have you here. she has been surging in the polls of many wanting she's going to be able to use this moment to separate from the pack. will bring them forward un ambassador 2024 presidential candidate nikki haley fresh off the presidential debate. you bring a lot back to civilian life. leadership skills. technical ability. and a drive to serve in new ways. syracuse university's d'aniello institute for veterans and military families has empowered more than 200,000 veterans to serve their communities and their careers. from professional certifications, to job training, to help navigating programs and services, we give veterans access to support from anywhere in the world. shannon: this week five candidates traded barbs foreign policy took center stage at a tenth the third republican presidential debates. while the presidential hopefuls disbarred former president trump was missing again as a field struggles to find ways to chip into his dominating lead. joining us now from south carolina former un ambassador former governor presidential candidate nikki haley who has seen a healthy uptick in a recent polling welcome back ambassador. >> thanks so much shannon. >> him to start israel. obviously have a deep foreign policy resume. what role do you think the u.s. should have as an ally right n now? you heard some the comments from senator warner chair of the intel committee. there are critics without diplomatic corps who echo what he had to say. they are worried about us losing the arab world israel losing the arab world with the current strategy possibly the next generation that would be necessary for solving some of these problems long-term. >> our solution should be this. we should have three priorities one comment to help israel eliminate hamas. two, support israel with everything they need no questions asked. and three to make sure we do everything we can to bring the hostages home. this is a tough situation but this is not just an israel issued this is an american issue. thirty-three americans were murdered they have american hostages right now. israel is the tip of the spirit when it comes to terrorism. and we have to remember iran is a number one state sponsor of terrorism. when they say death to israel they say death to america this war affects us as well. shannon: you heard senator warner also said number on the debate stays were ready to go to war with iran do exacta strikes on their actual soil something a lot of people think would lead to a much broader regional worth that something worse like world war iii. what do you say to those, i saw the headlines this week the republicans seem very interested in going to war with iran. >> it is quite the contrary. a strong america does not start wars a strong america prevents wars. what we are trying to do is prevent further war i dealt with iran every day at the united nations. what they do is they live, they exaggerate in every dollar they get goes to terrorism. the focus we need to have is right now you have almost 100 strikes on our men and women in the military in iraq and syria. that is unforgivable my husband is at one of those bases around the world, we don't ever want them in any harm whatsoever. but the thing is you don't play tit for tat with iran. what you do instead is when they do this you go right at the heart of their infrastructure you hit their ability to go and even hurt an american soldier if that doesn't work with iran. yes you take out the infrastructure. if that doesn't work then you go after the leadership and the irg see and make sure you go after the leadership and iran. remember when we hit soleimani it flat-footed. they respond to strengths. iran has always backed off when they realize america is serious. and so us having the backs of israel is usually important. us having the back of ukraine is important because you've got an unholy alliance a china russia iran all trying to intimidate us and intimidate our friends do not fall for the one thing that all of them fear is when we have an alliance that is strong and we stand by. shannon: is a lot going questions about whether the u.s. and its military specifically can be stretched in all of these different directions with different potential conflicts. the "new york times" raises questions we continue to hear about weapons inventory not only for ourselves but our allies and those we are trying to help this a guided munitions more complex emergent systems are being funneled to both the israel and ukraine conflict even as american partners in the end up pacific weight for weapons deliveries of their only center for strategic and international studies warns we are so low on some munitions at missiles it would take years for us to get back and replenish those. so what would it take for you, as president, to rebuild the weapons base? to get those deliveries to folks like taiwan who are waiting on them and more broadly to get us out of these foreign conflicts. >> he never went job of a president is to protect americans. keep in mind any of the resources that are spent on ukraine and israel typically we are giving them the older ammunition. we are giving them our older equipment so we are replenishing it with new prey that is a good thing but we also want to look and see what our stockpiles look like. where we low? what do we need going forward? focus more on that. keep in mind the amount of money being spent on israel and ukraine is less than 5% of our defense budget. so this is about priorities in print we need to one, secure the border. to make sure that focus on who is supporting who. it is interesting that taiwanese on the west to help ukraine, why? they know if ukraine wins china won't invade taiwan and we won't have to deal with that. there is a reason the ukrainians want us supporting israel, why? they know if iran wins russia wins they do not want to do that. everybody else eases unholy alliance except for americans. americans have their head in the sand. if we do this right ukraine and israel we will not have to do a china. china is watching every bit of it. they fear america that stands by her friends. shannon: americans -- like the polls are showing current weary of all these incursions around the world that we been drawn into. they are looking in many cases to a commander-in-chief would pull them out of many of those. that is just part of the argument or at the 2024 field. i want to get to that because the "new york times" had a piece about you of the action had nice things to say you might find surprising but it long list of things they say have to happen if you are to win the nomination the gop nomination for it recorded scribbles on the screen i'll read a few of them. more money for tv ads, don't have to give up on other candidates for it can't attempt to drop out for new hampshire but you have to flip people it goes on and on and on. it sort of in the vein of saying there is a chance. if all of these things don't align it for you how long will you stay in and fight? >> it is so ridiculous we are surging in the polls not only are researching in the polls, you look in the swing states that shows we beat biden 10 -- 13-point we are now second place in iowa. second place in new hampshire. second place in south carolina there are no other candidates going to be getting in the race because now it's gotten too late we had plenty of money it will be on tv with the work seat were going to be strong not just in iowa what were going to be strong and iowa ever going to be strong and new hampshire. you're going be strong in south carolina because we spent our money well we've got great ground games and every one of those states we are going to keep surging you've got trump who has flatlined you got desantis falling in the polls and we continue to go up. we had a great last debates. we raised a million dollars in 24 hours past the debates and we are going to go work hard to earn every iowan, every granite state or every south carolinians vote because we have a country to save. shannon: a sock about rallies president trump sup 3040 ports on the recipe of governor desantis picked up governor reynolds much coveted endorsement in iowa along with other leaders he has the highest favorables in the gop field in iowa including president trump. and in this headline from hell yesterday said trumps a massive lead ample's deals below to the rivals electability case. they talk about polls for than yoyourtime, cbs news, all showig president trump leading president biden in a head to head matchup. how do you convince primary voters to abandon somebody up who is up by 30 or 40 points when the argument about him being able to beat president biden and many in many of thess being muted? >> i think first of all certainly trump has some strong support i have always said he's the right president at the right time and i agree with a lot of his policies. the problem is drum and chaos follow him. whether fairly or not it's costly following him and americans feel it. you can look at that with our elections over and over again we pay the price for it. what is really important is we need to have someone who could n the general election as well. we need a new conservative leader republicans have lost the last seven out of eight popular votes. the weight you do that is you send someone who doesn't be abide by two or three points like trump does you get somebody beats biden between nine and 13 points. we've bewe been up and down. congressional seats all of the seats but that is what we are trying to do it's not just when the presidential we went to win across the board i can do that that's the focus we have. i will tell you people are getting tired of the drama and the chaos and the negativity they see the war happening around them they want to prevent and put an end too. they see inflation they cannot afford they see a border that is open for they see crime on the rise they see our kids are suffering terribly in reading and math and we have got to get that right. we are going to start to make america strong and proud again we are going to finish us we need everyone to go to nikki haley.com and join us. shannon: we will follow along and see you on the campaign trail and thank you to your husband michael was in uniform and tens of thousands of others around the globe thank you both for his service. >> thank you, god bless them all. shannon: up next to the clock is ticking to cover past fou forein aid package will bring in the sunday panel to criticism from both and a plummeting poll numbers on how he's handling international issues is what he is facing usa today white house correspondent francesca chambers but rich lowry editor-in-chief of national reform or 2020 biden campaign farragut bloomberg news white house and politics editor. welcome to all of you. taking a lot of heat for him how it's handling iran. he beat tkeeping the billions fo iran. by choosing not to enforce oil sanctions we have the will to break from his strategy of appeasement. you got a piece out this morning. on how it's being viewed. >> the polling for president biden has been abysmal lately. voters say they think he is too old for the job. he is losing to trump and key battleground states as well as nationally and by the way to nikki haley as well he is in tha statistical tie with ron desantis. on most every issue they rate trump better than him other than perhaps abortion rights and democracy which are two issues is focused on when propelled them to victory last week on tuesday we did see some success for his diplomatic strategy this week in israel agreed to those temporary humanitarian pauses. but even democratic lawmakers are telling me he heads into this meeting was she thinking he has a weekend hand right now given there could be a government shutdown this week on commerce is not past as one or 6 billion-dollar security. >> they arthey're not even snifg around that yet on the house at the senate is at least taking a look at it. another place is struggling in the polls is a border people feel regardless of party it is pretty much out of control but our fox news pulling on octoberr showed 71% of voters think the security levels of the border are not strict enough of a majoria majorityof democrat andy a lot more has to be done to secure the border of mexico. that's another of the white house appeared in court speaking a polls we had a bloomberg morning poll this week that showed exactly that. in terms of foreign policy, voters care more about what is going on at the border. three times as much then with a care in terms of israel, hamas, or ukraine and russia but that's a problem for the white house. and to your point shannon i was just back home and my chicago is the blue city about three weeks ago. there's a lot of angst about the immigration influx the migrant influx there. you see it the different neighborhoods in the chicago neighborhoods and that is creating tension again was a crucial demographic on the crucial block for biden right there and your face. >> of seeing some of those heated town meetings and city council meetings people are very frustrated by how their community is dealing with sar pointing fingers back at the white house. washington times says that factoring the potential terrorism those are warnings we've heard internally for federal agencies. thanks to hamas terror attack on israel president biden's failure to support the border the not troll compassion americans feel for anyone seeking a better life must be tempered with apprehension of the resurrection of terrorism and a danger of another deadly attack on our country. kevin, it's about optically but the reality of that. >> certainly and we've seen some of the warrington fbi director christopher wray's testimony two weeks ago before congress. but to your point earlier this is white we need to pass the president supplemental request he has put in. not only does it fund the war in ukraine in support of israel i provides an important counter to china that's happening on the west coast just this week. it also provides additional resources for the border to hire hundreds if not thousands of border agents. shannon: republicans don't like it that's hiring more people to process more people into the u.s. for their argument as it does not secure the border. >> i'm hopeful with the new speaker we can find some middle ground there to reform our asylum blocks clearly people are taking advantage of that practice here in the country. i'm a reasonable democrat that want to see action on that he saw chris murphy and others begin to have those conversations i'm hopeful they'll come to some sort of arrangement coming out of that. >> first we have to fund the government before he talked about additional one to $6 billion of the supplemental funding by friday if they don't work something out we are out of money again the new speakers put out this latter to plan like two different money to get us through part of january, part of february and handle different departments in different appropriations bills. the white house doesn't love it. [laughter] their reaction is no thank you brick. request with little convoluted but that is used to pass individual the way they show it and not have one big a bill at the end right around the holidays the way they always do. but there are even republicans who don't like it. i fear the fact is republicans are not going to get much of the end of the date no matter what path they take because they have a narrow majority and one at chamber of commerce and the rest of washington are against them for it that's a problem it's not the name of the speaker it's not the approach the speaker is taking. shannon: we know the message and coming from the white house is this is going to land of the feet of republicans use that yes they do control white house the defendant or the white house from one house can stop the entire funding process happy to assign blame. take a little victory lap over those certificates wait. what's the source and the speaker's office a democrats want to put something different and they could do that they take a look at it but the way things stand right now this is what they are putting forward for this is what your options are. take it or leave it. shannon: talking with folks with the speaker's office yesterday they know they're going to lose her bubble goes bra because ofs were not going to be interested in doing it this way their cuts in the proposal many funding levels with state where they a are. that is what led to the trouble for the former speaker kevin mccarthy. they also think they will pick up enough democratic votes they do not think hakeem jeffries a democrat leader the house is going to win against a sit in the poll together enough democrats to get this moving pre- >> the fact is that they did not have some the spending cuts, you gave a character democrats right now the two-tiered approach kind of give accurate to the democrats by prolonging the process of your will. in terms of johnson will be heard from house freedom caucus members and others as public comments they are giving him goodwill upfront for the job. he is not a hard task and they are acknowledging that publicly. shannon: a honeyman gives them a couple more days. they know they ha ended up last time they got rid of the speaker i wasn't especiawasn't especialr democrats in the senate i beliefbelieve center cartons onf them they want some that gets us to question the urgency of forcing people to holidays upon them to make longer-term decisions were. >> black suit reaches a point the focus is that christmas deadline people want to get out of washington this small house majority but the election rhode island it's only a three seat majority in the house of representatives even less than what kevin mccarthy had to deal with. i am hopefully gracing some democrats in the senate said they are willing to entertain conversations come as a clean cr which would be a victory based on negotiations in the past. >> and comes to the republicans they don't view the house leadership as having tremendous leverage right now. >> they don't. structure proposals pass through this. b6 cabot i can't imagine people want to leave washington for the holidays but i will be here too. stick around house subpoenas hunter. on the widening legal woes for the families of both presidential frontrunners, next. ah, these bills are crazy. she has no idea she's sitting on a goldmine. well she doesn't know that if she owns a life insurance policy of $100,000 or more she can sell all or part of it to coventry for cash. even a term policy. even a term policy? even a term policy! find out if you're sitting on a goldmine. call coventry direct today at the number on your screen, or visit coventrydirect.com.
