from gaza overnight. rachel: iran says u.s. would be, quote, hit hard if washington did not implement a cease-fire in gaza but israel is maintaining a cease-fire is not an option. >> we're not going to have a cease-fire with hamas it is leak you having a cease-fire after bombing of pearl harbor and cease-fire with isis it is absurd glad to see the administration is not asking for a cease-fire. jonathon hunt is on the ground with the latest. hey, jonathon. >> hey will rachel, pete good to see you. over the last four hours or so this morning israel paused air strikes to give more civilians in gaza time to head from the north at the center of the war zone down to relative safety at the southern end of gaza and prior to that they made it clear they are not going let up the pressure on hamas. they struck a neighborhood called south of gaza city. now, according to hamas officials, dozens of civilians were killed in that strike. we have no way of confirming those numbers. the idf, of course, has said it only targets hamas terrorists in these air strikes, they have also been pushing forward on the ground in gaza the intense fighting continues around gaza city both aboveground and underground in tunnel networks. that we have talk about so much, meantime anthony blinken has been continuing his diplomatic shuttling around the region. he met today in ramallah with the head of the palestinian authority abbas he told secretary of state that has to be an immediate cease-fire and blink pushed back on that said that the u.s. will not push israel to implement a cease-fire because it agrees with israel that that can only benefit hamas. now, what the secretary blinken did talk to mahmoud abbas is that palestinian authority should be part of solutions in gaza in the future. the problem with that guys, is that the palestinian authority is deeply unpopular among the majority of palestinian right now seen as weak and the u.s. is not seeing as an honest broker. so those two are talking about future of gaza is relatively meaningless to many palestinians. listen here, to moustafa i talked to him in ramallah head of the third party there, the palestinian national initiative and listen to what he had to say about the biden administration. here it is. >> the position of the united states of america including the president and secretary is shameful. why not semicease-fire only country in the world to put a limit to this massacre to this genocide they are the only ones who can restain israel and stop bombardment of gaza they can do it if they want. that's what blinken is told pretty much everywhere he goes outside of israel in this region right now. whether it's egyptians whether it's jordan and turks on his way from meetings with president erdogan right now he's being told that you the united states can force israel into a cease-fire. but secretary of state blinken and president biden, of course, say they do not support a cease-fire because they agree with our friend shannon bream great to see you. i presume you're in washington there were big protest there. it's amazing to see the chorus of countries and organizations coming out and condemning israel for its response to the terror attacks a month ago. we're starting to see some equivocation from the white house as well. what's the status of support for israel inside the administration right now? >> well, listen you know secretary blinken is overseas seeing critical poangts and he was there talking about pauses and certain areas to let aid through you heard what prime minister benjamin netanyahu said thanks but no thanks and interested to let hostages out otherwise we can't knowing what hamas says and now what hezbollah is saying we can't afford to pause from eradicating hamas threat which basically has gone on to say they're about annihilating israel. here in washington, listen, thousands tens of thousands estimate up to a hundred thousand people were in the streets here yesterday. i was watching a live feed from the state where they had a lot of all are rally going on things they said that was about israel no longers existing thattenedded with the protest you saw at the white house last night, and it was pretty heated. i think that's fair to say, and there was a lot of language we can't show on the air because these, you know, folks that were demonstrating many of them angry at the president. and chanting out thing that would not be welcome i don't think at the white house. but clearly, there is anger on all sides from the folks who want our aid to vale to stop and military aid israel aid to stop from the u.s. and many of the folks in that crowd were saying things that were espousing israel no longer existing. >> i tried hard to see if i saw, you know, protect the civilians, the children -- two states solution, and i couldn't find signs like that. it was there was a lot of this stuff about from the river -- to the sea or, you know, and these sort of slogans as you indicated talk about annihilation of israel. meanwhile obama has been weighing in. i want you to listen to this clip and get your reaction on the other side. >> what hamas did was horrific and there's no justification for it. and what is also true is that the occupation -- and what's happening to palestinians is unbearable. and what is true is that there are people right now who are dying who have nothing to do with what hamas did. and the problem with the social media and trying to tiktok activism trying to debate this on that -- is you can't speak the truth. you can pretend to speak the truth. you can speak one side of the truth. and so if you want to solve the problem, then you have to take in the whole truth. and you then have to -- admit nobody's hands are clean. all of us are complicit to some degree. >> i found this so fascinating shannon because you talked about clean hands probably nobody's hands are less clean than his in this with the way that he has enrich and empowered iran which in turn gave money to hamas. >> well listen i think he's right that we should not be trying to describe the nuances you guys have said there's a lot of complexity to this on places like tiktok unprpghtly i think younger generations that numbers tell us that is where they're getting their news. i saw one study that said this week that outpacing of the pro-palestinian post versus pro-israel posts on tiktok something like 30 to one if young people are getting their information there, he's right to say you kangt can't get the full truth in a tiktok post it is not possible and fair to say that, you know, there were people in the crowd yesterday here in washington and other places, that are very upset about civilians who are being caught up in this thing and former president talked about that. current administration is talking about that saying nobody wants civilians caught up in this but that is the nasty ugly disgusting part of war and there was a cease-fire in effect before october 7th. and when hamas came in and did things they did to the israelis, we can expect that they're going to want to have a full throated response. you know we talk about what people come and other countries lecture us after 9/11, to attack it easy, be careful what you're doing, i don't recall hearing any of that and israel is facing what is truly an existential threat now are they doing it with as much precision as possible we hope so. that's what the u.s. is counseling them please be sure you're doing what you can to do to avoid casualties and given advice that a good friend would give them but ultimately this is up to them. will: ept to go to new polls by "new york times" and college five of six swing states all won by joe biden in 2020. in five of the six all except in wisconsin and matchup between joe biden and trump, trump leads and fairly significantly in every one of those states. by 11 points in nevada, by six in georgia, by five in arizona. by five in michigan. pretty stunning, shannon. >> it is. i mean, to look at the margins there as you said nevada ten points, that is -- not good news for the white house, and listen polling has not been good for the white house for a long time because average americans out there tell us everyday americans tell us that economy feels terrible to them. they don't feel like they're safe. they think that border is a mess they don't think this administration is handling foreign policy well. i mean, on nearly every issue other than maybe climate change, this administration is upside down with voters and so people feel in their -- everyday life they can't pay their bills they're worried about their kids, they're worried about their own safety crime and cities all of these things it is tough for the white house to be running a reelection from that view point but clearly that's how people feel these numbers are huge weakup call for them and break them down with our panel
