but don't worry there are going to be good people who come back up and put those signs up after her. >> steve: i know i was thawing to somebody upstairs in the newsroom. i know there are people here in new york city. they are trying to keep the city clean. historically they just take down posters and stuff like that. but this is different. >> yeah. this is obviously very different. >> steve: not like a dog missing or call this person for chinese food or something like that people feel they can rip down posters of kidnapped people. a classmate of mine, her cousin kidnapped. see students and crazy lady tearing down these signs, it's insane. >> steve: and you have been with us talking about the atmosphere on campus in the green room you just told me that at hunter college, and here in the new york city area, a number of college female students have transferred out of their school to go to a specifically jewish university because it's safer there. >> yeah. that's right women's school called stern college massive uptick of students fleeing to that school to the point where they don't have enough room in the school at this point. >> steve: you wanted to make one other observation real quick what i just wanted to note is imagine if during 9/11 bin laden and the al-qaeda had hid amongst civilian populations and then had you people in america saying you can't go after them because they're hiding amongst civilians. that's what we have. that's the type of moral rot we have in country and it's in college campuses and in the halls of congress. we need to put a stop to it. >> steve: gideon, thank you very much for coming on. >> thank you for having me. >> steve: hour two of "fox & friends" starts now. >> ainsley: this is a fox news alert. limited evacuations happening right now at the rafah border crossing. that's good news. foreign passport holders and the ones that are critically injured or some of them are being allowed out of gaza into egypt for the first time since the war broke out 26 days ago. >> brian: 300 additional u.s. troops are being deployed to the middle east in an effort to protect soldiers already on the ground. >> lawrence: so secretary of state antony blinken is preparing to go back to israel this friday trey yingst is live on the ground in southern israel. it's a little after 1:00 in the afternoon. so, trey, it's good news that they have opened up the rafah crossing and apparently egypt has a bunch of ambulances lined up to take people who are injured to like a field hospital or something, right? >> yeah. absolutely. it's great news that this crossing is open. not only to get injured palestinians and vulnerable elderly people that need medical attention out. but also those foreign citizens. i adopt to give you an update though on that woman we talked about last hour. a u.s. citizen, who is currently trapped inside gaza and says she is not on the list to cross today. she just sent pee me a voice note. i asked her what she would say to the administration. and she said this: it's about 19 seconds. i'm going to let you listener to her words here. >> it's time for the american administration to take us back home the situation in gaza strip is getting worse. i'm sure everyone is watching and everyone is seeing and witnessing what is going on in gaza. we need to leave as soon as possible as american citizens. that's my message to biden. she is speaking to president biden saying they need to leave as soon as possible. she is inside gaza with her 10-year-old son. she says he was on the list to leave through the rafah crossing today. she was not. she is not going to send him across alone with no one to meet him on the other side. it gives you a sense of how difficult this process is with the list. i want to talk a little bit more about rafah but give you update here along the israel-gaza border. the active fighting does continue behind us last night we could hear the gunfire in the distance. the israelis were calling in airstrikes as they continued to operate inside gaza. and we do understand that yesterday 12 israeli soldiers were killed in gun battles with hamas rpg fired at those troops. others killed when anti-tank guided missile was fired at them. that illustrates what they're up against inside gaza. in the distance you hear outgoing artillery. israelis are still targeting gaza from the ground and the air. we also have images of the jabalia refugee camp that was targeted yesterday by the israelis they say they killed a senior hamas commander. as parts of that by the israelis to take out this man not only responsible for the planning on october 7th and that massacre but also the active fighting inside gaza. many civilians, palestinians that were noncombatant were killed as a result. so the israelis are facing questions today, legitimate questions about how many civilians they knew were there and why they decided to move forward with the strike, regardless. amid all of this devastating news. the tragedy taking place on the ground. we did have updates and live images from the rafah crossing between egypt and gaza. those injured palestinians are getting out along with up to 500 foreign citizens. guys? >> steve: all right, trey, thank you very much. let's bring in adviser to benjamin netanyahu. live from jerusalem. good afternoon to you there. >> good afternoon. >> steve: good news they opened the rafah crossing. i know this was a negotiation between the united states, israel, hamas, and egypt, is it just going to be 4 or 500 today? is that going to be it? >> i can't give you the answer. we want everyone to leave who wants to leave. what will hamas do. when secretary blinken was here on first visit that's over two weeks ago. we discussed our willingness to work with the americans to get all your american citizens out. that was our commitment. and i thought it should have been done, you know, when we made that decision. but hamas was holding the american citizens as sort of hostages. they didn't want to let them leave. apparently they have agreed finally to let them leave. i hope they can all get out and return home and be with their families. >> ainsley: so hamas is telling the mediators that it will release the hostages soon. this was said in a video yesterday on the telegram app. what's the latest? >> so, we don't believe much of what hamas is saying publicly. they say something and they say the opposite the next day and you never know what is true. and the assumption is that everything they say is just psychologic propaganda for their terror machine. i can say the following: we are continuing to hit the hamas terror machine hard. they are facing our blows. they are feeling our might. and i think that pressure will do more than anything else to get gulf that's the way to get our people out. >> lawrence: ambassador, you are right. they are feeling it. my concern is the propaganda war. it looks like hamas is winning it. i worry that the u.s. as well as the u.n. already hates you guys already. and they have displayed that over the years. but i worry that it's going to cause pressure from the u.s. and american journalists that you guys won't be able to do the full war effort for long. do you worry about that. >> you talk about the propaganda the other side -- the trouble is and sometimes i think parts of your colleagues in the media are guilty of this. people don't understand hamas is not a item creassments gaza is a brutal authoritarian regime there they have to follow the party line. they have to follow hamas' line. so all the information coming out of gaza is pictures are controlled by hamas, words controlled by hamas, as a result people get a very warped picture. have you seen a single picture of a dead hamas terrorist no, they don't allow pictures. they only want you to believe innocent civilians are being hit. obviously we have been hitting hamas terrorists one after the other. >> brian: houthi rebels hitting you with long range rockets. not shy by bombing the terrorists in syria. you hit back at the hezbollah in lebanon. were you hit back in yemen? >> if we are about to do anything i can't show it on television for obvious reasons. all i can say a statement you know is true and i know is true, that is anyone who attacks israel will face israeli retribution. will face response. you shoot missiles into israel, we will hit back. >> ainsley: ambassador. >> brian: that's a yes. >> ainsley: if hamas is eradicated as many people would like to see and many people around the world. we who is next? who is waiting in the rings? >> can i rephrase your question when i say when hamas is eradicated. >> ainsley: i like that better. >> we will do. this we are talking about what happens after there is a no longer hamas. >> ainsley: terrorist group. >> a brutal terrorist group. responsible for the most hideous violence. have you seen the pictures, i have seen the pictures. these people are the enemies of everyone who believes in humanity. these people are -- as president biden said, shear evil. now, what happens when they are gone? we have been talking with the united states about different scenarios. i'm not going to go into too much detail. all i can assure you is like when isis was defeated in syria and iraq, better things came after isis. i am convinced that once hamas is gone, once they no longer have their terror enclave in the gaza strip, i'm sure what comes after will be preferable both for israelis who won't have to live in fear of these brutal terror attacks that we have suffered and for the gazans that care r. terror machine who doesn't give a hoot about them. >> steve: before you go, trey yingst was talking about how israeli missiles struck a refuse refugee camp. thegentlemagentleman bill i can. is that the new dimension rather than hiding under their hospital they are hiding with people who are trying to escape for their lives? >> vast of majority of people have moved to the south. i noticed in the picture we just saw in your report, the people around the crater where our strike had happened were mostly young men of military age. and they didn't look like a lot of innocent civilians to me. what i can tell you is this: if you are part of the hamas leadership, if you are part of the command structure that was responsible for the rapes, the murders, the beheadings, the mass shootings, the massacres that they perpetrated in israel, we will find you and we will take you out. we will do so in a way -- we will try to be as surgical as we can to avoid other people getting caught up in the crossfire. that's our commitment as a democratic country. if you are responsible for hamas atrocities, we will find you and we will take you out. >> brian: how many are there? >> there is enough -- there are still a few more on the list. and the senior leadership, they have to worry about us, too. israel will find you. we will reach you. we will take you out. >> lawrence: ambassador -- i'm sorry, ainsley. some of the criticism is that you guys knew about their positioning before but y'all didn't strike them. i'm hearing this from idf guys that i have known for a long time. that you all knew about the position. why strike now? why not be preventative. i know that's a conversation for after y'all take out hamas. but y'all knew these targets before. >> so, first of all, there was a strategy to try to deter hamas from attacking, which obviously failed. we have to have our own investigations in israel of why we were surprised on october 7th. why we paid such a heavy price. we have to have lessons learned. we always prided ourselves on having really good intelligence. we were taken by surprise like we were that's unacceptable. we have to do a better job. that's clear. if you ask about israeli preemption, we could only preempt if we had specific information and unfortunately we didn't have the specific information and we paid for that in blood. we have to get our act together and i think you are seeing now the israeli people united as never before. understanding that we have to deal with this threat. and what's the bottom line in the bottom line is we refuse, we refuse to live next to this enclave of terror on our border. that enclave will be destroyed. that's good for israel. that's good for the civilians of gaza. we will end hamas' regime of terror in the gaza strip. >> brian: is there a difference between the palestinians and hamas in your view? should we separate the two? >> listen, they are in gaza there are literally hundreds of thousands of children. we'll don't want to see anything it happen to them. we are making a maximum effort. we are targeting hamas and its military machine. >> ainsley: when you talked about the refugee camp, it's not israel firing on this huge tented camp, right? they are building -- they are concrete buildings and houses in this neighborhood in gaza? >> that's 100 percent correct. you have to ask why they are refugees because they are living in their own country. why does the still classify them as refugee when they're living in their own homeland? that's a separate issue. what happened those pictures you see we targeted the terrorists and we got him. and he deserved to meet his fate. and because it was underground tunnel network, that caused surrounding buildings to collapse. and this is how hamas works. they build their military infrastructure under civilian neighborhoods. >> ainsley: under schools. >> it needs to be said again. in normal countries like the united states, like israel, our military is to defend our people to protect our civilians. hamas inverts that in a perverted way. for them, their civilians protect their military. it's disgusting. it's an outrage, and it has to be condemned. >> steve: all right. ambassador, thank you for joining us live from jerusalem. >> my pleasure. >> ainsley: thank you, ambassador, i was reading this morning they were building tunnels under obviously we know the hospital. but under schools, under neighborhoods like you saw there. >> steve: everywhere. >> brian: captured hamas fighter said we did it because we knew you wouldn't bomb it. >> ainsley: of course, that's the strategy. >> brian: and mosques. >> steve: now that was the old strategy. now they are bosoming it. >> brian: they lost 11 guys over the last two days. the idf. so you know the danger of what goes on there. that's a hot war. it's not just one side beating up on the other. >> ainsley: bravest of the brave. they are going in these tunnels. they don't know what is on the other side of that wall or when they go down into the hole who is going to greet them. >> steve: nothing good. lawrence lauren infantry men having to be more surgical hostages and civilians there is going to be casualties on the israel side as well. >> brian: the white house saying president biden will veto the house g.o.p. israel package because it doesn't include funding for ukraine, taiwan, and the border. >> ainsley: the veto threat coming after an be at this war activists pushing for a cease-fire disrupted that senate hearing yesterday. saying the biden administration had blood on its hands. >> steve: jacqui heinrich on the north lawn with the latest. jacqui? >> good morning to you guys. it was a very lengthy statement explaining the president's rationale on this. but they accuse the house g.o.p. of basically inserting partisanship into this aid package for israel and alienating support for the people of gaza, like humanitarian support. and also ukraine and our partner notice indo-pacific. there is a very long statement from the office of management and bucket last night. it reads this bill threatens the security and stability of our partners in the region. a deepening crisis will undermine the possibility of israel's further integration into the middle east. if the president were presented with this bill, he would veto it. but another significant issue is that this breaks from precedent by seeking funding cuts as part of an emergency national security package. the proposal would cut irs funding from the inflation reduction act in order to seek its passage. that would likely never get through the democratic controlled senate and republicans also, in the upper chamber like senator mitch mcconnell have express add desire as well to pass these priorities together. they point out that the aid package the white house seeks also wants to rebuild u.s. military capabilities. meantime, a hearing on capitol hill yesterday on the funding request was interrupted by anti-israel protesters. listen to this. >> [inaudible] save the children of gaza. save the children of gaza. cease-fire now. where is your right, america? >> no. it doesn't shock me because 08 years ago there were young people in germany marching with hitler u. it's possible to recruit for these things effectively through a propaganda campaign which denies hamas' brutality and blames palestinian plight on the jews. therefore saying that, listen, whatever hamas does, its resistance, it's justified. these propagandas they can ascribe the terrorist autonomy. instead they have to blame it on the jews. >> lawrence: for that young person that is in question right now, they don't know which side to take, what would you tell them? >> listen, you have the videos of hamas' bruitizations. they made those videos to recruit young men to their movement. and so now you have a choice. you can side with hamas by either justifying or denying can actions u. imagine if what that would be like if that happened to your family or siblings or choose not to side with hamas. it's so simple sahar tartak. thank you for joining the program. >> thank you. >> lawrence: you got it. let's check in with senior meteorologist janice dean with our fox weather forecast. hey, j.d. >> janice: that was amazing interview by the way. let's take a look at it, it is raining here in new york city. you are requesting to need your umbrella if you live across the northeast and a little bit of snow. the temperatures are cold. it feels like, you know, 12 in duluth, 25 in chicago. feels like 30 in dallas. 26 in atlanta. you get the picture. frost and freeze alerts for 88 million folks across the central u.s. and the southern plains in towards the mid-atlantic. we could set some record lows for philadelphia, montgomery, wilmington, north carolina overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. the good news we are going to rebound the temperatures the next few days. measurable snow for the great lakes. even north of new york we are getting some snow in the forecast. not a lot but it is early in the season. maybe too early for some folks. look at new york as we go through the next couple of days, above average we get into saturday and sunday. that he was kind of good. a bit of a sea saw in terms of temperatures. and we will continue to monitor all the day's forecast with fox weather.com. all right. over to you, lawrence, my friend. >> lawrence: it is a sea saw. i should start texting nut morning. >> janice: can you do that any time. >> lawrence: which coat should i put on today a light one or a big one. >> janice: you have permission. brian kilmeade does not. >> lawrence: i love that thanks, j.d. my new book titled "american man" american war on masculinity is out now. we. ed to promote it when it first came out but the war changed everything. i encourage you guys to pick it up. go do amazon.com. barnes & noble. and i also will post where i will be doing book signings coming up soon on my twitter account. come up, anti-israel centsment becomes more common among young americans and could the social media company be -- could be playing a part in this?
