[explosion] >> harris: they are taking out the targets they want to hit. israel steadily eliminating hamas terrorist leadership. idf forces say they now have taken out a top naval commander and killed nearly two dozen senior hamas leaders since the start of the war which was only 19 days ago. and we are learning about this. a literal who's who of terror leaders had a meeting in beirut. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus." a summit of hate i will call it. top killers from hezbollah, hamas, palestinian islamic ji hard holding talks on achieving, quote, victory over israel. it is their first reported meeting since the war begin and cements concerns that analysts are having that the war is now getting wider and more intense and emboldening a host of the middle east's worst actors. israeli forces striking syria after a rocket attack in israel, aleppo's international airport a target. state run media is claiming eight soldiers were killed. secretary of state antony blinken confirms at least 33 americans have been killed by hamas terrorists. ten remain missing. he tore into the tactics of hamas. >> we must unequivocally condemn hamas's the terrorist attack against israel. where is the outrage? where is the revulsion and the rejection? where is the explicit condemnation of these horrors? >> harris: president biden just moments ago welcomed australia's prime minister. let's watch. >> together we're standing with israel against hamas terrorism. we're standing with ukraine against putin's tyranny, alliance between australia and the united states has never been more important than it is today. australia and america stand ready -- ready to do the hard work, historic work to tackle the challenges we face. >> harris: in "focus" foreign policy advisor to israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu is here. first let's begin with mike tobin in southern israel. >> hamas rockets have been aimed at a new target today. the israeli town of alott across the negev desert. it borders egypt and jordan on the other side right on the red sea. it is significant because israelis who wanted to get out of the rocket fire have been heading there to seek refuge. now you have with hezbollah in the north, hamas in the gaza strip and rockets being aimed here nowhere outside of range in israel. meantime israel has now released video of those hamas divers who attempted to infiltrate israel. swim out of the gaza strip and infiltrate north of the gaza border. they were detected and killed in the water. in addition israel struck the tunnel from which they emerged and israel hit by a storage facility used by that cell of hamas. the u.n. relief works agency said it is prepare to stop operations running out of fuel in the gaza strip. israel has allowed aid into the trip limited to food, water, medicine. fuel is not being allowed. israel says hamas will use the fuel. you talk about the meeting in beirut, lebanon including the leaders of hamas, islamic jihad and hezbollah, a rare appearance by hezbollah secretary general. as you mentioned all three of them are backed by iran. the focus of the meeting was to achieve victory in gaza and they called themselves an alliance. also there was an air strike in the town of aleppo in syria. israel generally won't confirm if they have made one of these strikes but that airport along with another one in damascus have been used by iran to resupply hamas. back to you. >> harris: great information. the details that you are giving me on that meeting that happened. the first one that we know of. doesn't mean it hasn't been happening. mike tobin reporting. thank you very much. i want to welcome now the foreign policy advisor to prime minister benjamin netanyahu. thank you for being in "focus." let me just get your reaction to learning about that what i call the summit of hate with the leaders of those terror groups and among them the secretary general, so-called, of lebanon. what do you make of this? >> thank you, harris. clearly there are -- what we're facing today is a war between civilized world and these hamas savages and barbarian savages. and all of these hezbollah, hamas, islamic jihad, proxies of iran and that's who we are up against and we'll win. the mission is to dismantle hamas. israel is fully unite i had on that mission like never before and that is what we'll do. dismantle hamas and that's what we're doing right now. >> harris: i want to talk about hezbollah now because that's a second front in the war for israel. it looks more imminent right now that potentially a third front in west bank. what is israel doing to combat that. what kind of talks are going on, if any? what can you do to keep the second front from opening? >> we're focused on the main mission to dismantle hamas. we're prepared for anything else. we don't want a second front but if hezbollah makes the grave mistake of opening up a second front against israel, that will be the greatest mistake they've ever made. the 2006 war in lebanon will look like a walk in the park from what will happen to them now. we will simply hit them like they have never been hit before. i think they know what israel can do and it will be wise for them to take the advice from president biden to simply don't, don't enter into war theater. if they do they will pay a very, very, very big price. >> harris: where are you with your talks with president biden in terms of this delay? >> from the outset we are very appreciative of the support both moral and material support we have received from the united states, from the united kingdom and other allies, from alabama allies. dismantle hamas. we're on the front line with hamas. threat is to civilization it's clear. and we are fully supported by the united states and our allies and we appreciate that. >> harris: you are in a fully supported delay from the united states is what you are saying. i'm wondering will you keep delaying or is there a point you go in regardless of what the united states would ask? >> the idf is hitting hamas hard. we are hitting them very hard and continue hitting them hard until they are dismantled. i can't really get into the operational details. but i do promise you we will dismantle these savages that on the 7th of october came into israel and slaughtered 1,400 people that day. it was the worst terrorist attack ever in history. it was like in terms of relative numbers like 50,000 americans being killed in one day. it's not something that will go away. it is not another round of violence. this is something different. we are in all-out war. they wageed war and we're giving it back until they fall and are dismantled. >> harris: we've been on the brink of an imminent ground invasion and have had at least four hostages come out. i know that's part of the calculation in delay, too. the "new york post," the cover today, my hamas hell shows one of the elderly israeli women released by hamas terrorists this week after a brutal ordeal she tells. idf spokesperson says it is part of hamas's savage and despicable game. let's watch. >> hamas is engaging a psychological warfare. releasing two hostages and then another two hostages. putting out videos reminiscent to the nazis, handing out cookies. from our perspective as we've said the hostages, we're doing everything we can to bring them home. >> what is your reaction to that? >> absolutely. what hamas is doing is taking other page out of the nazi playbook like the nazis latest 1944 were trying to depict concentration camps as being like a nice place for children to play, hamas are trying to depict the hostages as having a good time being abducted and tortured. israel will do everything it can to free the hostages. i should make it clear that anyone, any country and any person and any civilized person who is candidly concerned about civilian life should demand the immediate and unconditional release of the hostages. immediate and unconditional. and israel is fully focused dismantling hamas and freeing the hostages. not mutually exclusive. >> harris: anyone who has an interest in humanity. you are talking about the middle east partners, too. that's a wider audience watching, the world is watching us right now. tremendous backlash to the u.n. security general's comments yesterday on the hamas attack of october pth. israel's ambassador called on him to resign. >> it is important to also recognize the attacks by hamas did not happen in a vacuum. the palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. >> mere hours ago the secretary general justified -- justified hamas's barbarity and clearly places the blame for these atrocities on the shoulders. >> harris: let's watch one more together. former u.n. ambassador and gop presidential candidate nikki haley tearing into the secretary general's comments as disgusting and she says they disqualify him from leading and details of what happened to the people and particularly the kibbutz communities along the border of gaza. when you look at all of this and talk about the support that you are getting, you know that it is not universal. i'm certain you have seen the protests going on even in the united states. what is your reaction to all of that? >> i think this is a test for moral clarity. either you are with the civilized world or with hamas barbarians. what the general secretary said is outrageous and should revoke those remarks immediately or resign or both, actually. it is outrageous he gives any justification for the murder of civilians, of beheading people, burning babies alive. i think that's hideous and he should revoke and or resign after those terrible outrageous statements. >> harris: what is the relationship, do you think right now, with the united nations and that part of the world? is it helpful? i don't want to put you in a sticky position here where you have to come yes or no on the u.n. but certainly some criticism or any thought you might have on that unity? >> it is an important international organization. composed of many different countries and as i said from the outset, all civilized countries have supported israel in its fight against hamas and we appreciate that support. and i hope that support -- we expect that support to be there not only when we're the victims but also the victors. we'll be victorious and we will defeat hamas and dismantle hamas not only for our good but for the good of civilization. >> harris: when you are in trouble and when you are the victors. a pleasure to have you in "focus" today. thank you. >> thank you, harris. >> harris: some families of those hostages we were talking about are meeting with lawmakers on capitol hill yesterday. families spoke out, anger, fear, heartbreak. >> my son is held by hamas. we need our son back. we want our son back. >> you don't know if the loved one is alive, dead, getting fed, where he slept. think about that every single second. >> children, the mothers, the elderly, these hostages need to be back yesterday, not tomorrow, yesterday. bring them back. [crowd chanting bring them back] >> harris: i want to take a moment. something we are going to do on "the faulkner focus" for however long it takes. and i really want to call this out because i don't know that i have seen enough about them and we had an artist this week that came up with these posters. two israeli artists in town in new york city a month before the attacks for an art program. and they have stayed to put up these posters all over and now you can go to the website that's at the bottom of your screen and you can click on it and see the faces, the names. they have done a lot of work to gather stories as much as they can about each who are kidnapped. i want to show 3 to 4 of these every day and i want to say their names. today asher and her two daughters, israeli germans taken. herran. israeli german taken. 78-year-old woman, israeli. each day we'll put up different ones and invite you to go to the website and give your support through prayer and any other way you can. all right. the president of the united states now meeting with the prime minister of australia. let's watch. >> harris: and so that's why i am delighted you are here. together, you know, we've worked together to help strengthen the alliance and deepened that strength and i think we've moved in the direction through our talk as a partnership and the united kingdom and american investment in australia being at an all-time high under our administration. in may we strengthened our climate -- thank you for your move on climate. it is a big deal including launching a new climate minerals and clean energy compact because you have great assets that we can all use to make sure that we move in the direction of clean energy. and today we are taking our alliance even further. doubling down on cooperation on technology and science. this morning we will discuss how all these efforts can help advance a free, open, and secure friendship and how to work to address threats and stability in the region and the economic stability as well. supporting ukraine in the face of russia's bitter aggression and to stand with israel in the wake of hamas's appalling terrorist attacks. mr. prime minister, thank you very much for being here. it's an honor to have you. thank you for your leadership. >> thank you very much, mr. president. it is a great honor for me to be here as australia's prime minister and our alliance, i believe rick has never been more important and never been stronger. we've entered the third tier. we have had defense and the economic relationship. defense and economic relationship through the free trade agreement but we have a third path of this alliance front and center as well through our clean energy, critical minerals and climate change compact taking action to protect the world, to lower emissions, to take advantage of the shift to clean energy and the opportunity that presents to grow our economies as well and to get capital for developing nations to allow them to develop in a way at the same time as they are reducing emissions. and breaking that nexus between industrialization and emissions is so important. the agreement is central and i thank you, mr. president, for the work you have done in persuading legislators to make sure we put in place the measures that are necessary to encourage that two-way transfer of defense technology that will be the center of an agreement that's about security in our region but also about prosperity in our region as well. in addition to that, the work we're doing together in the pacific is very important. i know you have hosted pacific leaders twice here in the white house and that has been very welcome. in today's uncertain world, the alliance between australia and the united states and the way that we stand stay fast against aggression whether it be russia's illegal invasion of ukraine or whether it be hamas's terrorist attack on israel is something that can be relied upon for us to stand up for our common values and that's why i very much welcome this visit and welcome the cooperation that we are having as well as our personal relationship. this is our ninth meeting in just 16 months that i have had the honor of being prime minister and i look forward to continuing to take the relationship to a higher level as we do every time we meet. today we will be advancing technology agreement between our two great nations as well and innovation is so important that we benefit for both our peoples. >> president biden: we have made one member of my administration incredibly happy with your strong environmental protection, secretary kerry. >> indeed. and he has shown great leadership, of course. and it is so important for us to have that cooperation and in working on natural disasters. later i'll be visiting your emergency management authority. we have set up a similar model nationally based upon what you have done here because climate change is real and we can see its impacts with wildfires, floods and just a reminder every time that we have a responsibility to this and future generations. >> president biden: well, i was asked by xi jinping a couple years ago why i was working so hard with your country. i said because we're a pacific nation. he looked at me and i said we're a pacific nation in the united states. we are. we will stay that way. so thank you. thank you everyone. [shouted questions] >> president biden: we will have a press conference after this and be able to answer your questions. thank you. >> thank you everybody. >> thank you. >> harris: all right. we thought we would hang for a moment there to see if the president might take questions. just to point out, this is the first news conference that the president of the united states has happened since the attack by hostage taking serial killers hamas terrorists on israel on october 7th. of course, he has been to israel. was there for a few hours on the ground and his team, particularly his secretary of state, has news conferences and talks to the public regularly and met with some of the victims in israel, particularly a young woman who was at that concert where the terrorists came in. it is interesting that he didn't take questions there. however, they will have a news conference a little bit later today. an official one. we'll cover that live. american journalists will be there and will ask questions. but the first opportunity that anybody would have had would have been a shouted question now so we hung in there for a bit. it looked like he might take one. he didn't. the prime minister of australia with the president of the united states today. we'll cover every move they make as it makes news. let's get to the college students all across this great country who are staging a walk-out. the campaign is calling for the united states to end their support of israel and the war against hamas killers. many elite universities apparently are struggling. what do you do? how do you handle all the backlash? harvard is preparing a task force to support protesting students and columbia university postponed a major fundraiser called giving day on campus because of all the turmoil. they are part of a long growing list. we have to scroll it quickly. we can't scroll it down for you to read it because there are so many names of colleges and universities across the country protesting against israel since the war began earlier this month. when i say against israel and they say pro-palestinian, palestine is not a country the united states recognizes as any type of unified state. it's a territory where palestinians live. that's how we term it. and they elected, don't know if they did it by force, don't know, but they put into office hamas terrorists. and so when you support the humanitarian crisis of people that are happening all over the world who are arab but particularly in that part of the world on gaza you are looking at a situation where they have been in a humanitarian crisis ever since hamas took control. they don't build electrical grids, can't turn on water or feed their people. israel does all of that. so when you support hamas, you support killers. it is a conundrum for these universities. does it have to be, though? isn't it obvious? alexis mcadams is in new york with more. alexis. >> harris, those questions you just asked to the viewers who are listening are the same questions jewish students are asking at campuses across the country including nyu. many don't feel safe walking around campus. this is the live look right now at washington square park where i am. a campus walk out. one of dozens planned across the country. expecting to see hundreds of students show up at the park after they leave class to stand in solidarity with the palestinian people. not the first protest they have had here. people including who "fox & friends" talked to earlier, a young woman, american who survived the attack by hamas at that music festival says these walk-outs and protests make her feel uncomfortable and unsafe. >> this is america. i'm an american citizen. how can people look away and justify the fact that my friends are captive? their family members are captive? >> we've seen student protests like here before at nyu. students for justice in palestinian and other groups encouraging students to stand in solidarity with the palestinian people saying we need to di vest from israel's occupation and genocide of the palestinian people in their instagram posts they have been sharing. pro-israel protests are coming in the days. college campuses are the epicenter of the protests. big donors are cutting ties for the schools allowing anti-semitic attacks on campus. columbia university giving day was postponed. that is not happening today. over at george washington university. social media posts show these messages displayed at the outside of a library. one message reads glory to our martyrs. another says free palestinian from the river to the sea. harvard university the student paper said the school is launching a task force for students being harassed. they say they hold israel responsible for all the ongoing violence. in new york city we expect to see hundreds of those students show up here. a close eye on that and also the protests and walk-outs across the country. >> harris: we had nate foye, lawrence jones and you and many of our other journalists at the protests. i know you get to talk to some of these people. i'm just wondering what are their answers to some of the questions i was asking? do they know who they really support? do they believe it? lawrence jones told me a story about a young man who didn't believe the propaganda as he called it. no, jews weren't murdered in their beds. how is that even happening? they are on the internet, we know. >> they continue to say that when you ask them a lot of these questions they say we stand with the palestinian people. when you follow up no, they start chanting and shouting. not able to get answers. we hope to later this afternoon when we talk to them. there is a lot of emotions run high at these things and they stand by what they think is what is right. why so many jewish students are saying where is the university stepping in. it is past freedom of speech at this point is what they think. >> harris: thank you very much. a new piece co-written by bari weiss highlighting the spread of anti-semitism. she writes free press staffers arrived at work to find graffiti sprayed on their walls in their office building. the messages read f jews and f israel. they read more than that but that's what we can say and print. she goes on to say a wave of anti-semitic hate from physical violence to harassment has affected jews across the globe. they've been demeaned in america cities and university campuses as you saw from her reporting all happening in recent weeks. republican congressman owens along with more than 50 other republicans is moving to fight the hate. he introduced a resolution condemning support of hamas by colleges that are doing that. congressman owens is in "focus" now, member of the transportation and infrastructure committee and education and workforce committee. great to have you, congressman. first of all tell me about the journey america is having right now with anti-semitism. >> harris, this is been going on for quite a while being indoctrinated by marxist. they are excited about being part of the solution to education is we've seen our country and kids coming out hating everyone. we have dealt the last couple years of blacks hating whites. having own dormitories and graduation. an outgrowth. i had no idea how bad it was getting until i see how heartless our kids are. i understand i grew up in a generation. my dad came back from world war ii. they fought evil and came back and built a remarkable middle class and helped those countries, our enemies become our friends. their heart was helping delivering service. we have a group of kids coming out today that have no heart. they deny evil, they applaud evil. that is not the american way. it comes down to us. we have to make sure outcomes are better than they have been. hold colleges accountable. if they can't give us a good product who love our country and love others and produce we need to pull back funds. it is a great time in our country we finally understand it is time to pull back. within our own nation we're developing enemies for our own nation and we cannot allow that to happen to our kids who have great potential but being indoctrinated by the marksists in the ivy leave colleges. i'm thankful the very wealthy are getting it. they didn't get it with the black lives matter mess. they are finally getting it and pulling back the money. that's the one thing that the left understands, power and money is where they thrive. if we pull the money back we'll pull back their power. >> harris: can you speak to the issue of how confused the responses have been from some of these universities? harvard, i don't know who writes in their public relations department, but how hard is it to condemn on first ask hamas killers? >> if you've been raised in a college that believes everything that -- against everything we stand for it is difficult for them to nuance this. they go with their heart, feelings and what they've been taught. we've been dealing with decades of this stuff. those now in our corporate structures and college administrative have been trained tore decades to do what they're doing. it is difficult for them. we need to hold the colleges accountable for their outcomes they'll start to get the right prof profess -- >> harris: there were upwards of 30 groups on the campus and took time for the university to speak to those groups that were, you know, for hamas. all right. let's move. house republicans could vote on the latest choice for speaker just hours from now. last night they voted mike johnson, congressman from louisiana, to be their fourth speaker candidate since kevin mccarthy, congressman from california, had to vacate his seat. congressman tom emmer dropped out just four hours after initially being voted in as the nominee yesterday. republicans may be going into the vote with optimism now. let's watch. >> this is one of those challenges where once you sort of broken the egg it is hard to get the shell back together. mike is popular on people in the center right and both wings of our party. so i think he has got a very good chance. he has the support of the former speaker, kevin mccarthy, and of jim jordan. that's a big start. >> harris: congressman, what is your take on it? >> we are in a sweet spot. we are. it's all about unity and i will tell you, harris, the one time i felt in my entire career of unity super bowl 15. we started the process months ago. people coming aboard based on what they can get out of it but we want to focus on the american people. mike is the right person for the right time and we'll come out of the process more unified. watch this congress moving forward. we might be forgotten as individuals. this congress will be known for what we've done to pull things together and get the american people back together and faith in institutions again. i'm excited about mike and the party. our conference what we're doing now. >> harris: what will be the first thing you seek to do when you have a house speaker? >> a resolution to support israel. the first act. start to look at appropriations. america, israel and the rest of the world knows this congress is the safety of our friends and making sure we back them every way we can to show how much we care for them and how much we are on the same page. >> harris: just a request from probably millions of americans, including this one. deal with the border because we potentially have more killers coming across it. >> absolutely. >> harris: our border patrol is doing a great job so far. >> absolutely. >> harris: good to have you in "focus." u.s. troops in the middle east are facing an increased number of attacks. we've been talking about it this hour. it happened since the israeli/hamas war began 19 days ago. 24 of our men and women injured in these attacks. the administration promises to take divisive action on all this. what does that mean? and is there a delay in taking that decisive action? arexvy is a vaccine used to prevent lower respiratory disease from rsv in people 60 years and older. arexvy does not protect everyone and is not for those with severe allergic reactions to its ingredients. those with weakened immune systems may have a lower response to the vaccine. the most common side effects are injection site pain, fatigue, muscle pain, headache, and joint pain. i chose arexvy. rsv? make it arexvy. >> if iran or its proxies attack u.s. personnel anywhere, make no mistake, we will defend our people, we will defend our security, swiftly and decisively. >> harris: he says it. are we going to see it? that's tough talk from secretary of state antony blinken. now we look for action. u.s. troops in the middle east have come under attack many times in just the last week. those attacks in iraq and syria have injured some two dozen of our men and women in the field. the pentagon says iran-backed militias are behind it. iran's foreign minister with a very different story. >> the u.s. secretary of state once again adement to mainly place the blame on iran. >> harris: congressman michael waltz of the great state of florida points out the u.s. has failed to hold iran accountable for a long time now. >> the 14 times that our bases have been hit in just the last few weeks is on top of 70 to 80 times in the last two years and there have been 0 consequences for it. we can have all of these big, you know, movements of forces but if our adversaries don't believe we have the political will to use them to impose real cost, then it will be for naught. >> harris: brent sadler, retired navy captain. former pentagon official and senior fellow. when he says 70 to 80 times under this current administration we aren't getting that contemporaneously. 14 times in the last week? we know our people are in danger. >> the number is closer to 100 when you add up what's occurred in the last couple of weeks. cotton said it was up of 84 times and four responses. we have signaled weakness for far too long and reaping the consequences unfortunately. >> harris: when you hear leadership at the u.n., wherever they are speaking, i understand they had a big hezbollah meeting in beirut. maybe they talked about it there, too. but when you hear them almost bragging about the fact that no iran couldn't have done it and it is not us. we know where the weapons are coming from and the training, how can they possibly think we're that stupid >> anyone that thinks iran is not behind the attacks is actually in another reality quite frankly. >> harris: so let's talk about what should be happening. look, i totally respect and pray for there to be so much going on to protect our men and women they can't tell us but they should be telling us something. >> absolutely. i think there are certain things as american citizens and taxpayer we deserve to know how our military is being moved around the world to protect us and our well-being. >> harris: and their own. >> yes. >> harris: so this isn't new that their targets. talk about the strategy in moving the eisenhower into the persian gulf as i've read it and not next to the fighting battle group that is in the mediterranean to support israel and give the world in that region the visual we showed up. now we are showing up someplace else. absolutely. the naval forces. the first thing the president says where are the carriers? it is a significant statement of american might and power. it brings with it a lot of options. where the eisenhower actually shows up i'm expecting some new information in more detail to come out by the weekend. where it shows up will signal what options our president is looking for. is he looking for more military options to respond against iran's projects around israel or looking for more options to directly punish iran for any of its continued aggression against american interests throughout the middle east? >> harris: would we hit iran? >> depends on what iran does to us. if there are members. igrc operate and take actions against us and there is an opportunity to go after their leadership, perhaps. something targeted, something measured. >> harris: the "wall street journal" editorial board points to biden's red line moment with iran. blinken promises a swift and decisive response. it argues iran is using proxies to test u.s. resolve. the more they attack without iran paying the price the more likely iran will raise the stakes. the paradox, mr. biden has to appreciate the most stabilizing move to the nation is having america as a deterring power. >> absolutely. at this stage if there is a lot of words of strength and even with military forces being moved nearby and to blink again, that actually would invite more aggression on the part of our enemies, specifically hamas but also iran throughout the middle east. to not act now in direct attacks against u.s. citizens and american interests would invite a far worse outcome. >> harris: i want to read this from ari fleischer, fox news contributor but worked in the white house previously. he says first the biden administration hid the results of the attack from the american people. then did nothing about it. where is president biden and why isn't he doing anything? he is certainly not deterring iran. also this. the department of defense official confirmed with fox news the pentagon is in the planning phase of sending iron dome missile defense systems to israel as the country continues to fend off missiles fired at israel from hamas. israel's iron dome is facing its greatest test in the war with hamas just two weeks has fired 7,000 rockets toward israel according to the idf. first of all your response to ari fleischer that nothing that biden is doing is deterring iran at this point? >> i think ari is on to something. you go back to the spy balloon china launched over the u.s. and hovered over sensitive sights was another case the administration tried to keep the facts from the public because it was inconvenient. two years, 80 attacks of forces in the middle east not getting daylight serves a political purpose which is not helpful for our own interests and safety. i think everything that is occurring now in these crises and conflicts is because of this. >> harris: political purpose in a year that we're about to watch him run for re-election. just real quickly on the iron dome. >> there is only so much information on the actual movement of hardware that we can expect. the statement out of the department of defense is really a nothing burger. planning always happens and moving and multiple contingencies always being concerned. where it will go, that's a level of detail and fidelity the american public deserve. >> harris: thank you for being in "focus." we're awaiting president biden first news conference since hamas terrorists attacked israel on october 7th. that now has been moved to 1:15 p.m. eastern. it's been pushed by 45 minutes. we saw them in the oval office a few moments ago, the president and prime minister of australia. there was some shouted questions and the president didn't respond. the news conference is the first time we will hear opening questions from all media. president biden will take questions there. i hope so. it's a news conference. big cleanup on aisle nine. we'll have the whole grocery store cleaned up in a minute. karine jean-pierre on cleanup duty again after she fumbled on easy question on anti-semitism at monday's press conference. >> what is the level of concern right now about potential rise in anti-semitism in light of everything that's going on in israel? >> we have not seen any credible threats but look, muslim and those perceived to be muslim have endured a disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks and certainly president biden understands it. >> harris: the person is why i can't get a magic eraser at target. she is using them all and every broom. she thought to clean up her remarks yesterday. >> i want to make something clear. when jews are targeted because of their beliefs or their identity, when israel is singled out because of anti-jewish hatred, that is anti-semitism. that is unacceptable. there is no place for anti-semitism, pull stop, period. >> harris: oh man, the president's press secretary told fox news digital that she misheard the question. power panel mark penn veteran pollster and former advisor to the clintons and gianno caldwell fox news political analyst. the job isn't easy and particularly not easy when your strongest ally in the middle east is at war. i get it. but this was a whiff and she couldn't hit it. mark. >> i don't know where she was coming from, you know. anti-semitism and hate crimes against jews have been the number one hate crime for many years. she would know those statistics. so for her to give a completely opposite answer and then even when she came back and gave that statement no tolerance for anti-semitism. the question is how are you preparing, what are you doing about potentially increased anti-semitism attacks now? she did not answer that question. >> harris: gianno. >> 80% of republicans, 72% of democrats believe we should be putting forth policy to protect israel. what i believe the white house is doing here is making a political calculation. you just ran a whole list of very elite colleges who are having pro-hamas rallies across the country and the white house is taking note to that. the fact these democratic voters talking about gen z and millennials with outpace the baby boomers in terms of votes for the next election. they are trying to walk a step that they will be able to keep their coalitions together and unfortunately for israel, this is not the right approach. we should be unequivocal in our support for israel policy-wise, those in the administration including those in the democratic party that sit in congress. that's not the case. it is a tight rope for them. >> harris: headlines raising concerns about the hamas/israeli war. they want to keep the coalitions together from the white house. i wonder if they can keep the coalitions together on the hill. progressives rebel about biden's handling of the israel/hamas war? biden's israel stance angers arab muslim-americans could jeopardize votes. >> i think it's quite obvious. it will impact these particular votes. i have no idea looking at social media when you see families slaughtered, when you see attacks happened in israel i just thought everyone would be outraged and say this is not okay. that's clearly not been the case across social media. college campuses and some people you wouldn't think would say this. we are clearly a society in crisis. that's across the globe not just in the united states when you see people standing up for hamas. >> harris: why do you think that is, mark? >> well look, we just released a harris poll. you have to put in perspective what are the real numbers? the real numbers are 86% support israel, 16% support hamas. there is huge support in the country. it is hard to see how big that support is but it is by generation not by party. over 65 it's 95/5. 18 to 22, 52 to 48. young people are filled with all sorts of misinformation. they think that israel bombed the hospital, 45%. in a way like we have never seen. it's a generational gap, not a party gap. america supports israel to incredible extent. >> harris: that's fascinating. congressman owens was on with me earlier this hour and what he said was that our young people are mean. they don't have heart. something has changed in this newest generation and then you point to the generationality of support for a terror group. it is fascinating. i think it is something that we can tackle if we recognize it but we have to start to say it. these universities, i don't know, they seem to be clinging to their money, clinging to their legacy and not wanting to deal with what's right in front of them. >> they're failing the test. i think there is a necessity for us as a country to unite. it shouldn't be among party lines. you mentioned generational, mark. i think we have to be especially when it comes to colleges and universities, i think what some republicans are looking to do on the hill penalizing them, we have to. this is the lifeblood of our allies we're talking about. we have to be very clear in our messaging regardless of what another generation who hasn't lived life thinks. >> harris: let's model love, peace and discipline to our young folk. good to see you.
