entered gaza on food to take out terrorists and find hostages. israeli military confirming 222 people are being held captive. you are watching "fox and friends," i'm carley shimkus. >> todd: i'm todd piro. israel said it hit targets in the gaza strip from the last days. the u.s. state department is telling americans in lebanon to leave now. trey yingst has the latest on the ground. good morning. >> trey: good morning. the israeli spokesman daniel hagari explain targets were hit along the gaza strip. last night we watched as airstrikes took place. looking for information about hostages being held and ensure they are clearing the path for that expected ground operation. israeli authorities saying 222 people are being held hostage inside gaza and that number is rising and expect it to continue to rise as they gather more information about who is missing and who was killed in the october 7 massacre. in lebanon, as strikes continue, israelis ramped up strikes south in lebanon. there were antihaf tank missiles fired into northern israel, drawing response by israelis as they work to protect the northern and south upper front. benjamin netanyahu talking to soldiers about the situation there. >> if hezbollah goes to war with israel, it will make the mistake of its life. we will cripple it with a force it cannot imagine and the consequences for it and the lebanese state will be devastating. >> trey: israeli looking to send message to hezbollah, if they goat involved in the war, they will be destroyed along with much of lebanon. >> carley: limited ground raids, is this escalation or something that has been happening all along? >> carley: it has been happening for the past week and involves recovery of israelis killed and their bodies dragged back into gaza. we understand that yesterday near the small kibosh, the town of kwaus /* quamam. the israelis need to conduct the raids preparing for months of fighting inside gaza and understand they would be ambushed and trying to take out along the border. >> todd: the united states told israel to -- hostage negotiations to get as many out as possible and distribute humanitarian aid. what are you hearing on that front? is that realistic considering we don't even know where all the hostages are? >> >> trey: yesterday a second convoy entered the gaza strip, koord according to united nations. there are reports that indicate the united states, biden administration pushed the elras to slow down and make a calculated response about how to enter gaza. the israelis will never confirm the reports and don't want to be seen as following the lead of the united states, they want to indicate they are making decisions independently. we know the united states and other powers are involved in the situation to secure the hostages. >> carley: the idf posted on social media footage showing hamas booby trapped a child's pink back pack and placed a bomb inside it. on the body of militants instructions on how to use chemical weapons and bombs on civilians. this is a terrorist organization, it does show what sort of tactics the idf will be up against once the ground invasion does begin. >> trey: absolutely. this is not traditional resistance we've seen during clashes between the palestinians and israeli forces. this is to inflict terror on southern israel and gives an idea of what israeli troops will face, booby traps,ie d's and they are heavily armed. israelis understand they will take casualties immediately, it will not be an easy battle temperature is being compared to when forces entered mosul in iraq. it will be bloody war fare and difficult to move block by block. >> todd: taking all that, i will put myself ahead of the average idf soldier, there is a lot to take. this imminent invasion has been imminent for two weeks, how are the israeli troops dealing with this delay? if i was raring to go, this would be tough as i had to grapple with all the factors you just mentioned, trey. >> trey: it's a great point. i've been texting with israeli soldiers day-to-day, and they have mentioned this. immediately after the massacre, they were called up for reserve, they were ready and wanted to bring the battle to hamas and they still do. but the adrenalin does go down as the days pass and that is part of the calculation, will the soldiers be ready and how do they keep their spirits high as they prepare for the battle headline. >> carley: i'm sure that is why benjamin netanyahu visited troops to keep spirits high. this could escalate and become full regional conflict. >> todd: trey yingst, stay safe. spokesperson for benjamin netanyahu here to answer questions. >> carley: breaking developments all morning long, stay with us. developments all morning long, stay with us. ebreaking developments all morning long, stay with us. breaking developments all morning long, stay with us. abreaking developments all morning long, stay with us. rebreaking developments all morning long, stay with us. breaking developments all morning long, stay with us. fobreaking developments all morning long, stay with us. lbreaking developments all morning long, stay with us. lobreaking developments all morning long, stay with us. followibreaking del morning long, stay with us. ngbr all morning long, stay with us. breaking developments all morning long, stay with us. >> i cannot comment about a report that eludes to strategy moving ahead and i'm sure you understand why. what we say as nation and government is that israel is ready to act and further act in the gaza strip to complete the mission we as a nation have defined and that mission is to dismantleum hamas. we want to crush this terrorist organization and make sure they never have the military capability to do it again and never have motivation to hurt us again once we are done. we are operating in gaza. we have time, it will take as longa it takes and we will complete our mission. >> carley: on the front of your mission to destroy hamas, there is -- devoted to hunting down and eliminating all members of hamas who played a role in the terrorist attack. creating a new unit doesn't seem unreasonable, there are members of hamas who don't live in hamas, they live in qatars, will this go internationally, as well? >> i cannot get into detail. these are decisions generals or leadership or unity will have to decide. what i can tell you is that as a nation, we decided we can no longer live next to this monster in the south and existential threat next to the border. we will do whatever it takes for as long as it takes. >> carley: this morning the idf struck terror cells on the lebanese border and some infrastructures, including a military compound. what are the chances hezbollah enters this war in a greater capacity? >> we hope it doesn't develop into war on the northern front against hezbollah. if we need to act on another front and we've done so in the past, we will do so. it is not just us, president biden told other adversaries don't test israel because if we are required to respond, we will, and it will be decisive just like what we're planning to do in gaza with hamas. so we also hope that hezbollah does not try to drag us into a full-fledged war because lebanese people will suffer and lebanese people have suffered so much in recent years, they do not deserve it. nobody wants it, besides iran funding hezbollah, hamas, jihad in gaza. our message to them is clear, do not test us, we will win. >> carley: on that front, u.s. sending missiles to the middle east. all this in an effort to deter iran from escalating the situation. do you think the moves by the united states and military presence in the region will have that intended effect? >> we hope so. we're grateful to this assistance from the united states, moral support and materials from the white house we are seeing with sweeping bipartisan and u.s. congress support and we're thankful. it is sending the right message. when the united states tell right from wrong and lead with moral leadership, others are watching. when you set the tone, it matters. we are thankful for that. >> carley: the president made it clear, we will support israel for as long as it takes and there is bipartisan support for you in the united states. thank you, we appreciate it. >> thank you. >> carley: the idf also confirming the number of hamas hostages is larger than thought, updating the number to 222. secretary of state antony blinken says there is new danger for americans. >> hamas has blocked them from leaving, showing it is total disregard for civilians of any kind who are stuck in gaza. >> todd: our next guest has been helping to coordinate evacuations through organization of special forces veterans and will update his mission next. with skyrizi to treat my skin and joints, i'm getting into my groove. ♪(uplifting music)♪ along with significantly clearer skin... skyrizi helps me move with less joint pain, stiffness, swelling, and fatigue. and is just 4 doses a year, after 2 starter doses. skyrizi attaches to and reduces a source of excess inflammation that can lead to skin and joint symptoms. with skyrizi 90% clearer skin and less joint pain are possible. serious allergic reactions and an increased risk of infections or a lower ability to fight them may occur. tell your doctor if you have an infection or symptoms, had a vaccine, or plan to. thanks to skyrizi, there's nothing like clearer skin and better movement... and that means everything. ♪nothing is everything♪ now's the time to ask your doctor about skyrizi. learn how abbvie could help you save. this she■s a hero moment. even today, only a quarter of stem graduates are women. they'd go, oh, you don't look like an engineer. there is this preconception. some things are for boys. but diversity drives innovation. my goal is to really flip the script. pick something that you love and go for it. how do we live in space?
