at w warbird this is a live lugt gaza city. where hamas launch and surprising attack on our closest middle eastern ally. the terraces striking a buy land, air, and see on a jewish holiday. firing thousands of rockets and infiltrating the countries. hello welcome to a brand-new hour of "fox news live" i am ortho level. eric: thank you everyone for joining us i'm eric shawn but so far we are told at least 100 israelis have been killed. more than 900 wounded after these terrorist attacks. hamas holding an unknown number of israeli soldiers and civilians now hostage in. with killing they are told 200 palestinians and leaving hundreds more injured. arthel: the fighting expected to continue as israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu declares quote we are at war and vows ironic backed hamas will be an unprecedented price. trey yingst is live. >> right now you can hear israeli military helicopters flying just a couple hundred feet off the ground. they are conducting operations against palestinian militants in the northern part of the gaza trip. rocket fire continues into southern and central israel. as we speak right now sirens are sounding in the central part of the country. we saw a new barrage of rockets come off the gaza strip. israeli immediate right now retaliation and casualties across this country, according to the israeli press 200 people were killed in this attack earlier today. that number could rise. we are not sure what this helicopter is doing exactly right here. but they have been taking off or from this area and file vessels at infiltrators they believe are still on the border. also israeli media showing images of palestinians captured just this hour. this is very much an active scene. i will give you some new information we are just getting in right now from israeli military. conducted a briefing indicating there are 22 active scenes right now with hostages and these southern part of israel. some of them are firefights taking place between militants and the israeli army. but, to be very clear hamas in the militants entered today still controlled terror tony in the southern part of the country and israelis are moving at this hour to try and recapture this area and free any hostages that are still alive. back to you. arthel: trey, if i can ask you, watch your back there big tanks or trucks passing by. where are you up maybe not where are you but what are the vehicles behind you with the flashing lights? >> yes this was a very, very tough day for israel. and as you say it was different. but it was no different in the fact that hamas has shown how evil, indiscriminate and inhuman it is. they have killed indiscriminately women and children, civilians. they have fought into a big party which was going on a nature party in a forest and killed scores of people that moment we are talking about over 200 people killed. the vast majority of them women and children, elderly, young people, totally indiscriminate. and i think that what the world has seen today for those who still doubted it helped evil and inhuman these animals are. sue for their supports of bodies being desecrated hamas terrorist going door to door dragging is rarely civilians out of their homes raid the west is condemning this. do you fear it some of the pern gulf states especially on the brink potentially of normalization was saudi arabia this was hamas' intention to try and launch a major attack in order to try to scuttle peace with saudi arabia some of the other persian gulf nations? >> i think you are very right. hamas at the end of the day is a proxy of ironic. what you are seeing today the blood eight tentacles of these beastly brains into ron which have, i believe made hamas do what they do in order indeed to unsettled the middle east. to try and sabotage the very promising normalization and peace process which is on the verge of happening with saudi arabia. so at the end of the day, what we are seeing is iran from to run conducting this inhuman vicious attack by the terrorists. these are people who truly do not care about human life. for israel, every dead palestinian child is a horrible mistake in a tragedy. for them, every dead is really child is success and and a reasn for celebration. these are the kind of people we are dealing with. we left gaza 20 years ago. they could have made gaza into the single of the middle east instead they made it into a ter base. the poor people and gaza i do care about the people because they are prisoners of this horrible horrible evil regime. they will eventually pay the price because make no mistake we are going to punish hamas in a way which they have never experienced before. we will go in and make sure their leadership will realize what they did today was actually a joint suicide active. eric: someone said by israel doing that, that could potentially boomerang on the jewish state. it would go into much of force. what do you say about that argument? and the sensitivities there are israeli civilians kidnapped and held hostage in the tunnels under gaza and how is that deterrent at all? >> you are right. as a very complex situation especially with quite a few hostages being held in gaza. in the past we have been very, very careful. we have done unprecedented things which made american and british and european generals describe israel as the most moral army in the world. we call before we bomb the building and made sure the civilians left it. we have warned them time and time again we are going to do it because we wanted to avoid any collateral damage. after the horrible act which they have carried out after their indiscriminate and vicious and barbaric assault on israeli children and women and civilians the gloves are off. and i think we are going to punish them. these guys are really cowards and the leaders of hamas when they do this thing to go and hide under a hospital because they realize israel being very humane would not bomb a hospital. i think these days are over. and even if it takes killing some civilians. and as i said before every palestinian civilian casualty for us is a tragedy. we have to make sure the people who did this horrible horrible thing today will pay the price and they will pay the price. eric: hamas hides its rockets and ammunition among the civilians using them as the result of the terror. former israeli ambassador has served ably of the united nations for years, ambassador thanks so much. >> thank you, eric. >> ambassador thank you but right now we are going to bring an anchor at the anchor of this story martha maccallum. martha, what more can you add to our reporting what are you hearing from your sources? >> it is good to be with you. this is obviously an enormous story. you have been talking to so many people the coverage has been fantastic all day present story it will be covering ourselves for quite some time. unfortunately. because of the magnitude of it and the shift we are seeing in global politics in the middle east right now. we saw this coming together in brett's interview with mbf essentially the leader right out the crown prince of saudi arabia and the subsequent entry with the benjamin netanyahu who has been prime minister six times in israel there closer than ever. obviously that wrinkled the leadership and ironic. and from all reports and everyone i've spoken to these morning the belief is that it would take iran's organization and money and ability to pull off a coordinated attack like this. something that took a lot of planning. i would point back to u.s. foreign policy. i think there has been a fee feeling, i met with some israeli leadership when they were in town for the un just a few weeks ago. and in a broad sense there is a feeling the united states has not been as engaged as it has in the past in this issue they tried to move the middle east a little bit to the back burner and focus more on ukraine but focus more on china. ironic notice this for the no sea change in posture. that we had $6 billion it would into their pockets for the exchange of these hostages. at the time i interviewed jon kirby, it takes almost out there as well talking about this is only going to go to humanitarian sources. i think it's impossible to look at the situation and think it so that part of the agreement. we do not know for sure but it certainly raises a lot of questions. and one other thing i was in israel earlier in the summer there is a lot of tension in the streets. we have seen it protest the likes of which we have not seen for a long time over judicial issues. enter battle between israelis about whether or not they want to support netanyahu or not pretty look at the vulnerabilities that existed you ask yourself how could there be such a breach of intelligence? the israelis have been so strong that part of their defense. i think it points to a lot of different factors. the world is never a static environment. foreign policy shifts. you see the possibility of israel and sau saudi arabia comg together. it moves other people on the chessboard you see that and a powerful and horrific, horrific way. i watch all these videos this morning a people being dragged through the streets. israeli soldiers being dragged its abhorrence. we need to see the reaction from the white house with the two biggest buyers to watch her. arthel: you are right the video it's very difficult to watch but we have to watch it this is real. debate a lot of important points when it seemed we were on the brink of some sort of normalization between the relationship with the u.s. and saudi arabia. and again you mentioned iran perhaps is raising its ugly head yet again. not wanting that. wanting to disrupt that at any because as we are watching innocent civilians they are being bombed and held hostage. and maimed. and then you mention their support of hamas. we do not know exactly what their support as you have to wonder how much intelligence they were able to provide to hamas. i do want to mention one thing, martha, we are getting from our very terrific reporter her finger is on the pulse of everything. she recently sent this to us to pray doing to clarify that what you and i are talking but we are talking about the $60 billion of money that was recently unf unfrozen. to be clear that money is being held in a secure bank account and carter is where it still sits. to withdraw any of that money the u.s. treasury still has to validate the bills which is a strict detailing the many transactions for that money to be used for itself ultimately right now the qatari's have oversight over the money and they are the keeper of the deal. so as far as he 60 billion-dollar going to support this particular invasion, war, attack on israel we are not quite sure to connect those dots right at the moment. but listen, we have done this before. we have done this before. this is especially complicated with so many moving parts and you are right, martha, unfortunately we are going to be covering this in the days and weeks to come. and our eyes will be on the white house. how they respond but how the administration responds. our eyes will be on saudi arabia because they have said before they want to make sure the palestinians are not cut out of any deals that are being made. and of course you have the person if you will looking over the shoulder of all of this is putin. he has to be watching this closely. and probably feels he has some cover now it worked and his heinous ways and his war on ukraine. >> absolutely pert you make great points arthel but i would say with regard to the 60 billion the signals sent that money is unfrozen forces ironic to a different position in their decision-making process. we heard from the leadership and ironic saying no is going to tells how to use that money for it was there money that was unfrozen. we will watch and see it's very, very difficult to follow the money trail in these situations in the middle east. clearparticularlythe knowledge s unfrozen might have forced them to make different decisions about how they're spending their money. they have not typically given it to him entering purposes within arironic that i would point the nobel prize was awarded this week who is a woman incredibly brave woman who's from prison for speaking out on behalf of the rights of women. look at what is happening saudi arabia in the last six years. it's been an absolute change in the treatment of women. these are the kind of things that make the iranian leadership nervous. they see change in a country like saudi arabia and they have an enormous amount of protest in their own country. i spent the forefront of that here in the united states for we talk to her a lot. they feel the ground is shifting a bit beneath them. put them in a position to make the choices they have clearly made in the early morning hours of today. it is an extraordinary moment. with regard to pollution and how he sees this, to take the focus off of him a little bit. juthat's a given more leeway to push harder in ukraine? >> the first of all it is notable on the 50th anniversary of the yom kippur or the surprise attack by egypt and syria that hamas with its iranian backers has decided to up and what was likely to be a historic agreement between saudi arabia and israel. middle east watchers say the purpose of this attack was to derail any peace deal between saudi arabia and israel. yesterday also mark the anniversary of egyptian president anwar sadat. suggestions by republican presidential candidates the recent hostage deal that involve the release of six of billion dollars contributed to the attack for the $6 billion is currently held and a qatari bank account with u.s. treasury oversight. the money came from iranian oil sales to south korea did not include u.s. taxpayer dollars. spokesperson said in a statement quote that a single cent from these funds has been spent yet. when it is spent for can only be spent on things like food and medicine for the iranian people. these funds have nothing to do with the horrific attacks today but this is not the time to spread disinformation. hamas and claims to have taken dozens of israeli soldiers and officers hostage during the incursion by the hostages have been taken back to gaza and reported they are being held in tunnels used by hamas to smuggle weapons in and out of gaza. the have read taking control of two bases infiltrated by hamas militants the gaza division base it has also carried out an airstrike on the home. in gaza. earlier today defense secretary lloyd austin spoke with his israeli counterpart diss minister to can his condolences i'm closely monitoring development and israel. our commitment to israel right to defend itself remains unwavering i extend my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in a support attack on civilians but over the coming days the defense department will work to ensure israel has what it needs to defend itself protect civilians from indiscriminate violence and terrorism defense secretary austin convened a meeting with his top commanders including centcom commander general eric and the new chairman of the joint chiefs this morning from the pentagon secretary of state antony blinken cia director bill burns wrot arthritis with the president this morning. burns canceled a trip to an intelligence conference remain in d.c. that nato defense ministers will meet this week in brussels the october ukraine contact group will meet this tuesday with about 58 defense 5e and military leaders including secretary austin the new chairman of the joint chiefs but you are referring to the two billion-dollar and weapons stores and israel. i would expect to see some of those weapons being released rates of that ammunition to replenish the stockpiles of israel the coming days and weeks. the u.s. navy i will point out does not have a confirmed chief of naval operations because of the hold placed on by senator tom atomic t tub or belt which pentagon officials they continue to impact their operations. eric: in terms of the billions of dollars the bite administration has released, just for a second drill down on that sprayed the washington institute says iran started finding hamas in 1 1992 of $50 million. feheuer talbot a >> and funnel a financial backing for hamas from tehran that has gone through bill clinton, george h.w. bush, president obama, george w. bush. president trump and now that is six presidents. why hasn't it been stopped until now question w it is a fair criticism to try and pin this on them? >> as you pointed out as the washington institute pointed out this offending of hamas from my ron fermenter until 2007 we documented not only that money that was flowing in but i was the first to report on it major weapon shipment from my ron that israel intercepted in the red sea. that was a huge story about weapons being sent into gaza. since 2006 and the war between hezbollah and israel that lasted 34 days there have been of thousands of rockets sent into gaza through the tunnels through the egyptian tunnels that is why the navy is so important. the navy navy patrols off the t of gaza are so important to intercept those orion weapons. but basically the hamas and the palestinians have been preparing for this day for years. they are building up their rocket stockpiles and have been testing the limits of what israel would do. this is the most massive massive incursion we have seen brilliant almost 50 years. eric: has blah unveiled some of those rockets they had in the north. >> absolutely. before we hope it does not get to that of course, jennifer always good to see you thank you. arthel: jen, this is arthel could you clarify what you said about turberville and his position on the military not wanting them to travel for abortions? how is this coming to play into the situation? >> what i was pointing out is we still -- the u.s. military still does not have a confirmed head of the u.s. navy. admiral lisa is awaiting confirmation but she is part of the 300 plus officers that are being held up by center harbor ttiber bills hold he is upset about a pentagon osd policy that allows u.s. service members to travel to out of states where abortion is prohibited to receive the medical care and abortions if needed and other states. he is still holding up 300 military officers. without a head of u.s. navy when in fact the mediterranean sea and the fifth slates which lisa and the seventh fleet the outer moat used to be the head of, it really does diminish the ability of the navy to operate rate that is what we have heard time and again from pentagon officials. steve i think of it which is always jennifer griffin and for clarifying that for us. thank you very much. right now we are going to get more reaction from washington and from congress will bring tennessee senator marsha blackburn bird braid center blackburn, good to have you here with us on this very critical saturday. i do want to say up front we are waiting to hear from president biden. when that happens we'll have to interrupt you but will hold you over to see if you like the comment after that. i want to start were jennifer griffin just left off in her reporting and speaking about how impactful senator turberville's position on any military traveling for abortions and therefore he is against that. for that military to fund at that travel. therefore he is holding up key positions. one being the head of the day beat which as you heard jennifer griffin report how crucial that is. in particular given what is happening today. what is your position? what you think about this? >> arthel, it is so important that we realize these nominations could have been moving forward there was a way forward for that. and senator schumer chose not to take that path. but i am certain that as we return in a week as we get classified briefings on this. and then you will hear us talk about getting israel what they need to defend themselves. that is going to be a priority. our allies around the globe do not want to see our adversaries think there is weakness. that is when they take an action. and right now with the u.s. military needs to do is stand with israel and make certain they have what they need to defend themselves. if it shoots or flies or sales and they need that, we need to be getting it to them so they have got what they need to defend themselves. correct centyou are saying any n terms of dollars, monetary offending you are willing to support that. >> israel is our strongest ally in the middle east. we need to be standing with them. when you look at the actions what i call the new axis of evil russia, china, iran, and north korea take you have to think about where they are going to move. and what they are going to do. and iran is teamed up with this what we are hearing that is what the reporting is coming out of there. we know when we had a president trump heat cut aid to palestine. president biden chose to re- up that aid even surpassing the amounts they had before. and for congress is going to be important to realize a strong defense helps the united states protect ourselves. it also helps our allies. and, making certain people who were our allies know they are our allies and we are going to be true to our word. we are going to stand with them. it is something that is important. our adversaries need to fear us. we need to be true to that. the fight at president biden again we are waiting to hear from him to address the nation and the world and moments from now. he has already offered support. i would like to know if you feel the president has offered at this point were going to wait to see what he has to say momentarily. but given this point the statement he has made the reporting we heard from lucas tomlinson that he has offered support. like to see if you feel the present has offered enough full throated support and specifically what do you expect from president biden at this juncture? >> he should give a full support to israel. there should be no doubt the united states is going to stand with israel and we fully support their right to to defend themselves. that is the type of certainty that our allies are wanting to see. i was listening to martha as she was talking about some of those she was visiting with during the un conference. you had it jennifer giving her report. what do people want to see from the u.s.? they want to see were going to show that strength when they are challenged we are going to show up to support them. we are going to stand for freedom. when there are bad actors out there that are acting in ways they ought not to be acting that are invading and are trying to take the rights of free people looking at what was happening in israel. look at what they're doing to citizens. 200 dead. hearing the reports that hamas has taken as hostages some of the military officers that our military members. and hearing those reports that shows you israel knows it yes ys indeed they are under attack. they need to know that we are going to stand with them during this period you have heard netanyahu's comments. and you see the boldness of these organizations. were these countries that are bad actors. these groups, these terrorist organizations. the five you are making some great points if i may center blackburn you are making excellent points their prey doing to follow up with questions for you. because as you said here it is at 9:30 9:00 p.m. in israel. hamas is at war with israel. you mentioned all the heinous crimes that are taking place right now not just military is really military which is horrible but to innocent civilians. and of course there are lots of unknowns at this point. when you tried to at least grapple with how did this happen what is coming to your mind?
