dead and -- israelis are dead and 22 are hurt with an attack. will: declaring war after 2,000 rockets lawned from the gaza strip. pete: trey yingst on the ground with the latest from southern israel. tray, still hear the -- trey, still hear the sirens. reporter: yeah, l pete, and carly. militants inside gaza and hundreds of them according to reports taking pickup trucks and motorcycles into the southern part of the country. they shot at border communities and also a music festival where there were more than a thousand people right now a group said they've taken israeli communities and holding the territory and they're amid rocket fire coming from the gaza strip and more than 2,000 rockets this morning is striking hamas positions inside gaza and it's an active ongoing bat and will the distance we've heard bursts of gunfire. tops setting up a check point and talk shows and they're concern that had border police believe 60 palestinians in southern israel to carry out attacks. take a look at what it was like a few minutes ago here as soldiers and civilians are wounded to came to be transferred to other medical centers. people are using personal cars to drop off loved ones who are hit by gunfire or wounded by shrapnell. the military bringing injured troops here and severely wounded soldiers being evacuated from the front here and there's active fighting continuing in the distance they believe people are inside israel and attack helicopters in the sky and explosions every few seconds and a war erupted between israel and gaza. hamas, the group in control of gaza, have taken hostage 35 ziti israels and we've seen video online. listen to this. it's likely from a helicopter shooting at northern part of the gaza strip and they're firing on the areas where palestinian militants hold civilian houses and israeli positions and injure continue to flow to the evacuation point. earlier today we saw a soldier from an elite unit pass away from us and there's a conflict from ziti legal and we've not seen it in decades. will: rocketing from gaza into southern israel and unique or new and level of ground war right now and infiltration n into southern israel and can you give us context on that and is that the source of most casualties and i don't know if you've had a chance to see most of the rocket attack or ground war producing the socialities in israel? reporter: it's the ground war and large civilian gatherings and palestinian militants and took over homes and seeing videos from inside the gaza strip on telegram and other messaging apps that show palestinians taking israelis into gaza at this moment and trying to take as many hostages and the numbers from hamas will likely rise and the casualties came from this gunfire but there were a number of rocket impacts in heavily populated areas and one of the cities in the south here took a direct impact as we drove here to this evacuation point and the horizon was filled with plumes of dark smoke, factories hit by rockets. it's clear that hamas and islamic jihad coordinated this to overwhelm the defense system and that's what they did. in the past the iron dome with the defense system able to intercept anywhere from 90-93% of the rocket fire from gaza and this morning we don't know the exact number but a number of those rockets did slip through and slam into the areas of central and southern israel and they're not just firing on communities here near the gaza border and air raid sirens serving as an aarm to civilians in tel aviv and jerusalem this morning. pete: i've seen images of entire isisraeli families slighted in their home and following up on will's question, that border is very fortified and i've been there where you can see just an eye shot to the border. i mean, there's israeli military manning it on the regular patrols and were they caught off guard? trey, was it the volume of incoming artillery that distracted from that or too many islamists coming across the border. what is israel saying about that right now? reporter: this is an intelligence failure by the israelis and they can come into communities and take over territory. you noted, this border is very secure and sensors going deep below the ground and large concrete walls with bashed wire at the top. what appears to have happened as these militants put explosive charges on the border wall and the fence blew a hole in the wall and then entered in that way. this community that sits close to the gaza border, and it's a place that if people go to the south, many have visited, we saw video of palestinian militants in the streets today and just now we're receiving reports of israeli troops to interest rate city and rescue civilians taking hostage by hamas. this is hard to put into words when you think about the level of security that patrols this area. the drones that are in the sky day and night over gaza and the intense that the israelis have obtained over the years and it's part of the reason that this is just beginning. israel, while they may have failed on the intelligence here, they certainly know where the hamas and islamic jihad infrastructure is inside gaza and there's air strike ntsb distance right now, fighter jets and attack helicopters in the skies, this is just the beginning. the israeli response is expected to be strong and it is expected to use ground units. we will likely see israeli tanks rolling on the road behind me i. this operation what benjamin netanyahu, the prime minister of israel has just begun. carly: trey, the prime minister calling on palestinians everywhere to join the fight. he's talk about civilian on civilian war. is that a possibility? have you seen that? reporter: it's a huge concern and there's reports that palestinians are clashing with israeli troops and concern that hamas and islam could get involved in the fighting. officials will not be surprised if they launch their own attacks because we've seen similar shooting attacks on a very, very small scale compared to today take place throughout the year. the other x factor is lebanon. when the round of rocket fire took place in fighting in may of this year, palestinian factions inside lebanon fired rockets and drone infiltrations in the past from syria and the groups that are all funded and supported by the iranen regime and israel bracing for a possibility of multi-day, multi-week, and multi-front conflict pete: yeah, now the north is involved as well. trey yingst, thank you far that update and we'll check if with you all morning long. netanyahu said citizens of israel, we're at war. not an operation or escalation, war. it's just the beginning. carly: they're our number one ally in the middle east and wonder how the biden administration will respond to this. they're going to have to in some sort of capacity address it and we'll watch out for that as well. will: september jobs report has come out and 336,000 jobs have been added. well above the 170,000 jobs that were forecasted putting unemployment at 3.8%. president biden is declaring a victory for bidenomics. of course it is a double edged sword with this type of news because usually all though it's good news when there's lower unemployment or jobs added, in the current economic environment with basically run away inflation, it means it's harder to get rid of inflation. those things are sort of inversely related and that was a little bit of a -- when we saw jobs reports, we thought there was always a chance it could bring down inflation, which is of course the driving problem underneath our economy. i got to tell you, when i'm out there talking to friends who are in real estate or financing, there's a great amount of fear about this economy in what could happen over the next 12 months. pete: numbers like that mean interest rate goes up. will: inflation goes high and interest rate goes high. pete: it makes everything else that much more expensive and numbers like that sound good, feel good, but here's how joe biden is attempting to say you may not feel good about it but it actually is good. watch. >> i got to choose my words here. you all are not the happiest people in the world. i mean this sincerely. it gets -- you get more leg when is you're reporting something that's negative. i don't mean you're picking on me, it's just the nature of things. you turn on the television and there's not a whole lot about boy saves a dog because he swims in the lake. it's about somebody pushed a dog in the lake. i get it. carly: yeah, a funny daily mail headline saying biden rambles about tv news being dominated by dogs being pushed into the lake. pete: i'm going to choose my words here very carefully. let's go with the dog in the lake story. carly: i understand where president biden is coming from in terms of the news can oftentimes seem very negative. but the fact of the matter is there's a lot of negative news to cover when itcosms to the chips act, the -- it comes to the economy, the border and crime. will, you are right. this jobs number seemed really good and seemed like higher than expectations by a big margin. then when you looked into it and broke it down a bit, a lot of jobs are low paying jobs and also 40% second jobs. people taking on second jobs to survive the economy. he -- next what he's talking about dogs being pushed into the lake and not the big fancy number and it's a very nuanced report. will: he thinks it's the press' fault you'll see numbers like this and the poll and who will do a better jock of keeping the u.s. prosperous and the republican party with the democratic party and the reason you don't like bidenomics is the press has been overwhelmingly negative for bidenomics. that is according to joe bind. pete: that's their spin. if you're going to clean it up, send out kamala harris. she will clean it up and give you a clear perspective on how you should really feel about bidenomics. here she was in st. louis. >> almost 14 million new jobs, 800,000 new manufacturing jobs, popular, popular, popular. we just need to let everybody know who brought it to them. receipts, amen. >> that's doable. carly: the signature laugh. pete: unpopular, unpopular, unpopular. if only people knew how cool i was. carly: democrats haven't felt how good the economy is just yet. it's going to happen, but the poll numbers will be a reflection of that once americans start to feel it. i did just read that over a billion in credit card debt right now so that's a historic number and a lot ovpeople are putting stuff on their credit card because they don't have the money to cover it. that's a negative sign. will: absolutely. i think this next story would be guaranteed to upset our normal cohost on the weekend, rachel campos-duffy, i'm going to admit, i don't find this o outagous. a buffalo bar holding church so bills fans can watch the game in london this week. it kicks off super early and what it created was an early church so you can go to church and then commence to watching the game. pastor steve beignet of st. paul lutheran said we're going to have a fabulous morning where we're going to bring together time of enjoying two passions: the bills and church. well, two of my passions said the pastor. i will say i grew up in texas where the preacher knew if the cowboys had a 12:00 kickoff, he needed to get that sermon wrapped up and get everybody out and ready for the cowboys game. the truth is, carly, they rarely have a noon kick because they're america's team and kickoff with america's game of the week, you know, prime time. you're used to that . i mean, vikings are usually the early game. pete: standard slot. will: no, but seriously, you know, people went to early church often if there was an early game. carly: this is not good, will. pete: why is that bad? carly: you're for that? pete: in minnesota, you'd go to church on sunday and people in vikings jerseys at church. will: that wouldn't happen in texas, you can't -- i mean. no casual wear to church. best of my recollections i agree. my i understand the impulse and a lot of lutheran churchers are the too too liberal churches now and what does it matter if we're in the church or a bar. i'm not for it. carly: starting to sound like you were. pete: it's the lord's day, go to church, rip it and rip it. sing your sermons, sing your hymns. will: they are. pete: no, at church. will: god doesn't just happen to be in the church house. pete: i understand but it's a reflection of priorities. talking to someone that live that had conflict. will: can't you argue you're bring the gospel into the bar? pete: why the every sunday? will: why not? push the bar is in church, it's called communion. will: maybe bringing holliness to a situation that's normally holy. carly: you've covered both sides well. pete: i'm calling my wife and saying i'm at the bar and worshiping. will: i'm taking theture to want bar. you're bringing the bar to church. pete: why not a 7:00 a.m. church service. will: they're not skipping. pete: you're kind of skipping church. carly: i think chump is supposed to -- church is supposed to be a sacrifice in terms of time and devote that time to the lord and your day and having a church in the bar defeats that purpose. pete: espn on in the background during the sermon? will: no. pete: turn the tvs off. will: i bet the bar does. pete: as soon as the sermon is on, they go right to it? will: maybe. carly: we can ask jim kelly about it tomorrow. hall of famer buffalo bills quarterback and he'll join us tomorrow talking about faith and football. will: just baptized. carly: yeah, it'll be great with him. pete: i can't lie, it sounds good. will: you did literally holier than thou. carly: angel on one shoulder and devil on the other and devil has will ice face right now. will: let us know how you feel. pete: would you go to the bar and watch football worshiping real gods and false idols at the same time? you might say. turn to headlines and we within you that some of the images we're about to show you, they are graphic. today's new york post cover revealing i think resounding the answer is no. clearly those communities. pete: if you take you up on the offer, you'd be interested in reimagining. will: look at what's happening in america right now, we can focus on new york, but whether it be stabbings or attacks or violent attacks on streets and how do you reimagine policing to stop this rising tide of violence? >> remember that the arrest occurred after victimization and we should be trying to get in front of that. i would rather we prevented a murder than arrest a murder and most people agree with that and we need to backup and look at criminal landscape and the totality of criminal behavior in order to get in front of it, but make no mistake and we can't arrest our way out of this problem but law enforcement has to be properly funneledded to aggressively pursue criminals and respond to the communities and most communities in the united stateses that's not occurring right now. will: that's interesting and should be one of the political movements that pays the highest price in history, defund the police and affect your constituents lives in the way we've seen it play out. thank you so much for your time this morning. aaron rodgers take ago shot at travis kelce and the chief's tight end firing back. >> mr. pfizer, we shut him down and the impact in the game. >> who knew i'd get into a vax war with aaron rodgers. will: the bad blood, next. ♪ the day you get your clearchoice dental implants makes every day... a "let's dig in" day... mm. ...a "chow down" day... a "take a big bite" day... a "perfectly delicious" day... - mm.
