there and how did these parts get through layers and layers of inspection? >> john: i'm john roberts in washington. happy friyay. >> sandra: outages, delays and close calls becoming all too normal and just last month united airlines issued a nationwide ground stop after an equipment failure. >> john: the faa is facing technology and staffing challenges, including at the highest levels. no one has led the critical agency for the past 18 months. >> every day some 3 million passengers board commercial flights in and out of u.s. airports. faa manages 29 million square miles of air space. when it comes to aviation safety, the buck stops with the faa. >> the faa is -- needs to be modernized. it's still, you know, it's papers in a filing cabinet. >> sandra: fox business reporter ashley webster is with us. great to see you, by the way. what can you tell us about the search for the engine parts. boggling how they got there to begin with. >> it is a shocking story, sandra, the company accused of selling bogus jet engine parts backed up by forged paperwork. now dozens of aircraft have been grounded for urgent maintenance as the part were used in one of the most widely available engines in aviation today. the company in question is u.k.-based aog technics, sold the parts to other countries. a lawsuit has been filed in the u.k. against that company as it emerges the part supplier may have engaged in a number of suspicious practices, including building a fake online presence to promote itself. so the question is how on earth could this happen. airline parts are supposed to undergo stringent safety tests to ensure they are air worthy. each part comes with a certificate to trace the components, origins and inspection records. so far, the questionable parts including everything from screws and bolts to more vital units, have been found in 126, delta, southwest, others have pulled their jets for further inspection. they say it will not affect schedules. we received a statement from delta airlines, said working with the overall provider we are in the process of replacing the parts and remain in compliance with all faa guidelines, because safety is always our priority. but, the scandal, of course, is raising serious questions about the effectiveness of safety oversight measures in the aviation industry. again, sandra, everyone asking, how on earth could this happen. back to you. >> sandra: one of the most regulated industries out there. thank you. john, you know, we have been boggled by the beginning, some unapproved parts were into the system and then the planes themselves and now they have to track down every single one of those parts. >> john: it's insane to think there could be airplanes in the air filled with passengers that have a part that could potentially fail because it's a bogus part, from overseas, where do we think they might have come from? >> sandra: a fair safety -- we spoke to the spokesperson from the faa said people should in the be alarmed, not concerned about flying right now, they can make their own decision based on what we are learning here, but he said for the most part, these are minor parts, they'll be able to track them down. they are grounding the planes and trying to get them out of there now. people should not be concerned. >> john: all right. not sure we can take that at face value, all right, sandra. stunning new reporting on the nation's biggest name sexual healthcare provider. talking about planned parenthood. an article in the washington free beacon, that the group is giving hormone therapy with as little as 30-minute appointment. gender clinics under scrutiny for exactly this, accusations of fast tracking procedures for kids, some of whom have made life changing decisions now sounding the alarm. >> everything just continued to go downhill and decline as i was on wrong sex hormones. >> i don't know why the adults that are in charge are pushing this. >> i wasn't suicidal until after i was put on the treatments recommended so flippantly to children now. they are allowing children to direct the course of their own medical treatment. >> john: bethany mandel, co-author of "stolen youth" and you talked about the planned parenthood issue, and you started talking about this 18 months ago, a teenager, turned 18 years old, while the person was a minor was expressing, had autism, was expressing an interest in transgenderism, and started identifying as transgender, mom who was a pediatrician said got to get our child in for some psychological counseling, a gender youth clinic that's really, really good, but it was booked a year out. so after turning 18 the son decided to go ahead and go to a planned parenthood clinic, what the free beacon wrote about that. instead of a month's long evaluation, a nurse practitioner had, in little over 30 minutes, prescribed their special needs son prescribed their son estrogen without knowledge or consent. >> it's happening across the country in planned parent hoods and gender clinics across the country. the level of informed consent children are able to give, teenagers, technical adults, it's 0. we have no idea what we are doing to children. when we wrote "stolen youth" we called the chapter children as guinea pigs. off label, don't know what the result is for their bone density, fertility, it's all a mystery and we are handing these medicines out like candy. >> john: and again, this was a child who had a diagnosis of autism, had apparently vacillated back and forth between obsessions and extreme behaviors, mom, again, a pediatrician, didn't know if it was a phase the child was going through or the gender dysphoria was a real thing, about you she thought it was going to require months and months of psychological counseling before coming to a final treatment regiment. because the child had autism, the parents were tracking the cell phone. the child entered planned parenthood 11:00 in the morning. 11:39, 39 minutes later, the mom gets a notification from cvs that the prescription for estrogen had been approved. here is what the mom told the free beacon. criminal what planned parent hoods over the country are doing and most people have no idea it's happening. this goes back to the school thing. the child decides oh, i'm going to identify as a different gender, not going to tell the parents. >> the scary thing is they don't have access to the medical records of the kids so they have kids that are walking in blind. they don't know about their medical diagnoses. they don't know if the kid is autistic or on other medications to counteract. >> john: you would think the legal liability would cause them pause. >> people need to start suing. they are permanently inflicting damage on children by giving them hormones and all different kinds of therapy so flippantly. parents need to start suing. >> john: the most interesting take on this in the whole thing. laura edwards leaper, the person who brought youth transgender clinics to america to boston hospital in 2007, said this, i've always been a very strong supporter of planned parenthood and pro choice. but they have taken on something that they are not equipped to handle. we -- you saw leading in to you some of the comments from people who transition and now are transitioning back, and how that whole process has ruined their lives, and planned parenthood is not going through counseling. they have a little session, 30 minutes, oh, you know what, you need estrogen or hormone blocker or testosterone. >> they need to follow these kids throughout all of their transition issues. they have no idea the number of transitioners like you just showed on your show. chloe cole, are they aware of the stories of the detransitioners, are her medical practitioners aware. they are giving it out like birth control or antibiotic for strep throat. they need to follow them closely and have conversations with medical practitioners who are able and qualified to do it. the same with the schools. you think your kids' third grade teacher is qualified to decide, yes, i'll call you by a different pronoun. they can't even teach the kids how to read and yet we are equipping them with the qualifications to make these life altering decisions? >> john: when you put it that way, you think nobody was proficient in math in baltimore but potentially the same teacher will say we won't tell your parents, we know what's best. bethany, always great to see you. >> sandra: interesting discussion there. texas governor greg abbott releasing new numbers on the border crisis. operation lone star led to nearly 35,000 criminal arrests and texas has sent more than 50,000 migrants to sanctuary cities. thousands more are arriving in the state daily. one texas democrat is pushing a plan to charge migrants to live and work in the state. jeff paul is live there in eagle pass with us, for us, where we continue to see those live drone images. the migrants keep flowing over the border every minute. >> something we watch in locations like eagle pass, texas every day. crowds of migrants crossing the rio grande and entering the u.s. cities, big and small, say that their resources right now are strapped so thin they cannot really help these people at the moment. but, there is a texas lawmaker that says he might have an idea that could fix that. democratic state representative eddie morales to proposing a migrant i.d. charge. he wants to charge migrants $2,000 to live and work in texas for three years. he says his plan would pave the way for background checks, tracking of migrants and could generate more than a billion dollars each year for texas. >> you talk to farmers and ranchers, they need labor and they need laborers and workers out there. we need to do it in an orderly passion so revenue generated to the state at the same time these migrants are paying into the system and not taking from the system. >> the billion dollar figure that morales quoted does not include the annual fee or the taxes the migrants would pay, at least here in the state of texas. so far greg abbott has not endorsed this plan, but it is something that morales is hoping to bring up next week when they all convene for a special session, hoping to come up with some solutions about the ongoing migrant crisis >> what i've noticed is so political because they are coming out of texas, and they are sent to democratic states and cities, the migrants, and the other side for me and my children is because we know that there's a direct correlation with poor and crime, and we really know it because as african american, as black americans, growing up in america, there is a true oppression that goes on. so, we have a good amount of poor ourself and that good amount, many of them are creating crime. so now we are not only in losing resources that we have, people are scared to come out of their homes. people are scared to come to the football program. mothers are saying i don't know, i can't have that. we don't speak the same language, anything could occur. >> sandra: gerald, i have to leave it there. five seconds left. what's your message to the mayor. he's not blaming the president's policies publicly but saying they have to stop sending the residents to the city. what is your message? >> well, look, you know, if you look at the border patrol union pre2012, they called the wall ineffective waste of dollars. after that their position changed. look, look at where the fence is built. send your reporters and see where they are built, a quarter mile, half a mile away from the border. so what happens is somebody touches the border, they can claim asylum. the two things, let me say this, i don't care if it's a devon archer or republican president, you have to have immediate deportation at the border sore real consequences and second of all, like 2015 and 2019 under obama and trump, numbers went down because we got mexico to do its job and stop people before they get to the u.s. border. >> john: you know, your point there about the wall does not stop people from coming into the country, a point i've made several times, you can't put the wall down the center of the river, where the border is. they tried to do that with these buoys that have ended up in the court. so if you touch dry land in the united states you have to be processed some way. the president as you saw said again he had to build this part of the wall in stark county, in your 28th congressional district, because the court said that he had to do it. but here is what mayorkas said in a public announcement about laws being waived, 26 of them, so the construction could start immediately. he said there's presently acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the united states in order to prevent unlawful entries into the united states. so is the president just wrong here? is mayorkas wrong? who has it right? >> well, i can tell you 1974 law, fight between congress and president richard nixon -- >> john: oh, no, he's frozen. oh, congressman, can you still hear us? >> so -- yes, i can. >> john: okay, keep going. you froze for a second. go ahead. >> yeah, so the empowerment law says yes you have to spend the money because of the law that we had. so apparently he was forced to do that part. the waiver, that's a different story. i think that was more of a discretionary act that he took. but again, you know, i want to make sure we add more border patrol agents, add more ice agents, but goes down to two points that are key. that is deportations, deportations and enforcing the asylum law. we don't have to change the asylum law. the asylum law says if it's persecution by the state based on religious or political belief, then that's how you get asylum. most of the people, 89 to 90% don't qualify. so, why are we allowing all of them in when they don't even qualify. do an expedited deportation, send them back to their countries. >> john: a question a lot of people are asking. congressman, i want to ask you about what happened monday night, carjacked by three individuals, all of them armed, thankfully you are ok, we remember when happened in the same area mohammad anwar, he was dragged down the street and killed, the white house was asked and what karine jean-pierre said about the spike in crime. >> american rescue plan not one republican in congress voted for it. not one. there were billions of dollars in that plan, in that act to make sure communities across the country got funding so that they could indeed hire more police officers so that they can keep their community safe. >> john: so in response to that question she went to the talking point republicans are to blame because they did not support that act. is that the root of the problem here, or is it the defund the police movement, the fact that you can't recruit new police officers in the major cities to the degree that you want, and all of these soft on crime prosecutors, including a u.s. attorney in the district of columbia who has failed to prosecute 67% of the crimes that occur in this city. >> well, i can tell you this. i'm seeing the video of that poor man that got injured, of course, got killed, but let me say this. my training tells me, i have three brothers who are peace officers, you stay calm, you quickly do an analysis of the situation, and you act accordingly. property, they asked for the car, here, you can have it. we tracked the car quickly, so, but the problem is you got to have penalties. you got to have consequences. carjacking in washington, d.c. from last year has gone up 103%. so when the d.c. council tried to lower the penalties for murders, homicides, carjackings, home invasions, i was one of those democrats that said heck no. we cannot allow them to do. you got to have strong penalties, you got to provide funding of police, you have to have investigators that can follow up and the legal system needs to do it job. you didn't slap somebody on the wrist. you show them real consequences. >> john: real quick, congressman, why is it so many other members of your party don't get that?
