Problems internally dont go away with a new speaker. But the real westerners though my questions members have how do we get this back on track . And a strong support over the last few days is ive got a long proven record and unified republican to fight the battles that matter to the families who gave us the majority. They want us to not fight over security and spinning control of inflation and things we came here to do. We have to get on track doing. That is the conversations weve been having these last few days. We will continue having. We have to get this resolved soon. It will get resolved the new york conference but we have to fight for those families struggling because that is what the real fight is about. Steve you talk about getting the car back on the rails. On a scale of 1 to 10 how screwed up our things right now . From what i have seen, it is total civil war. You know, there is a lot. There is a lot of frustration. We have to work through that, but steve, we started this year and a wink with a small majority, everything we do would be a challenge. Speaker mccarthy came in late on real changes that have been working. We have got to get back together, work through some of these problems that will still be there. Ive relationships with everybody in the conference and work through a lot of different roles. And coalitions to do big things, small things. People i dont want to focus on internal fights but look at the big things we have found that we have to keep fighting for. We passed a major security build, energy bill and sitting in the senate doing nothing because this and it does not want to address this here a day when Speaker Police challenge President Biden to sit down and Start Talking about the prices t the border that everybody in america knows is a major, majort want to solve for the senate does not want to solve. Democratic mayors are talking about this problem. We need to start fixing it and not just talk about it. We have passed bills through the house. This and it does not want to confront. We passed Government Funding over 70 , and we have to do that work in the house. But they need to do their work too appeared as much as everybody wants to talk about te house, the senate and the president are not doing because those problems need to be addressed by all of us. So we will come together as a house. They are scared to death, by the way, i was coming in the house my guy the speaker to go and get in this fight because once we are back in the fight, the country is already there ready to solve these problems. They are the ones struggling every day. We need to go back to fighting for. The president has got to be in this fight too, so does the senate peer that is where we need to go and start battling. Steve i heard from Members Of Congress who got a phone call from newt talking about unity bringing it all back together but also about fundraising. Because in the house nobody has raised more money than other members other than Kevin Mccarthy than you. I was looking at i think Punch Bowl News this morning. In the last ten years, you have raised 170 million for republicans. And i think jim jordan, if i read it right, south of 40 million. So you are the man standing right now, the leader. So if people want a fundraiser, you are the guy. Looked, there is a lot of things you have to do speaker. Number one, hold the majority but continue to go one more seat. We need to battle across the country. We have members in tough districts like joe biden but then in districts we didnt win last year that we can win next year. It takes a lot of money to do that too but it also takes a strong message. It takes the ability to go out and fight and let people know what the fight is about and fighting for those families who are struggling who sent us to battle for them. We have to get our internal house back and we will do that. We will do that wednesday. We have to go back and let people know the fight in the sun and the white house, they dont want to engage in this fight. We will force them to. We have to to get the border under control and the spending under control. Lower cost for families. Those dont go away. I will be in that fight at the next g. O. P. Brian speaking of fights, i know you had a personal fight and diagnosed with multiple myea and going through treatment right now. I have heard people say, maybe hes not healthy enough . We had a conversation during commercial proceeding this and it sounds like your treatment is going well. Thank god they caught it early. I have doctors that are the best in the world. They put me on the drugs quickly to fight cancer. There are other forms of cancer, too. There are other treatments available and we got it aggressively. My doctors at lutheran said, it is going phenomenally well and ready to go back to work and fight. If the doctors did not sign off my would not do this. Steve they declared you okay. They said you are ready to go back in the fight. I have been through tougher fights. You sell me in the hospital, i almost didnt make it through 2017 after the shooting. By the way, President Trump was right there lifting my family up in the louis times. Nobody sees that side of him. My lowest point in 2017. Im going to fight and proven a lot of battles and god has given me a lot of strength. I have asked god for a lot and he delivered appear they there were families that have struggled every day. People today from opioids because of the open Southern Border. The president doesnt want to confront that challenge. We as republicans do. We passed bills to do it. That action needs to happen in the white house and the senate. We need to continue fighting in the house to go and fight for the things that pass through the house already and keep passing more bills to put pressure in the places where it is not. We need to come together first. I get that. We are working through that. The last few days in the days ahead. I will continue to have those conversations. The conversations are going well. We have to come together though. And then come of the other folks in washington need to confront the same problems we are confronting and not talk about t do it. One question on the border wall, the Border Wall Money was appropriate for the border wall. I tried to get them to reappropriate that money. They didnt appear they wouldnt. In the meantime, there has been the wall and they have to use the money for what they appropriated it for. I cant stop it. Many images like this the Southern Border changed illegal immigration in washington and the American People but critics say the Southern Border looks like Commander Defense last night and im not talking about aoc disagrees with the president reversal posting, the Biden Administration was not required to expand construction of the Southern Border wall and certainly not required to weigh several environmental laws to expedite the building. The president has to take responsibility for his decision and reverse the course. The dhs chief said congress is to blame not the white house. Mayorkas accused of backtracking hours after immediately to build those 20 miles of border wall. From day one, this administration has been cleared a border wall is not the answer. The Construction Project reported today is appropriated, funded during the Prior Administration in 2019 and the law requires the government to use these funds for this pur purpose. They left in texas and mexico, california. Are you kidding me question if you cant handle 15,000. We get 7,000 a week but still, what they are doing no place to put it and we will not put it in facilities but soft sided with ttense and not compatible with chicago winter. And they will start putting them in in new york on field spirits before brian, the last few years, the media as well as democrats playing Identity Politics and just white folks, they dont want to change america and they dont want these immigrants to come here. All of a sudden all of the migrants going to the blue cities, the minorities are there. The folks of chicago say wait a minute, there is homelessness all over and crime. So, we just spoke to a former Youth Football Coach who organized that meeting. It was reported there were 600 people in the meeting. He said, there were 600 people waiting outside as well. So if there is any sort of silver lining, the community you see here is rallying around these kids. And you cannot ignore 1200 voices all saying the same th thing. Brian the number one issue for this election season. It is so pervasive and so consuming. It affects everybody. Eric adams decided to go down to ecuador, panama and mexico city first. He is getting backlash. The taxpayers are saying, excuse me, go to the white house and go talk to them. Speak with the reality is, there is a really big gap at this point in time between who i am,t is important to me, what i am about and what the right party is and what is important to them and what thats about peer that has really come to a head as i have become mayor. Im one of the people that grew up in this place and i know with those people want. They told me what they want. They want to live in same neighborhood. They dont want the police to leave. They want more police. They want the police to be trained well here they want to be practitioners of Community Police and they want them there. They did not want the Police Department defunded. I felt like i could actually be a true Law And Order, fiscally responsible democrat i would have done that. I tried that. I guess the Elephant In The Room is, how is the community responding to their guy now being a republican . I actually believe in time, they will start to ask themselves, why are we still democrats . Lawrence what is the message to those out here teetering . If they dont know they can cross over to the Republican Party.
