Americas late news. Fox news at night. And breaking tonight, thousands of migrants cross the border every day, it is a growing problem for cities across the country, while the Biden Administration continues saying the border is secure, there is word tonight the administration is about to take a page from former President Trump and build a border wall in texas. We have Fox Team Coverage marianne r afferty, chicago and new york are begging for help. Chaos for veterans trying to attend the annual Army Navy Football game. Matt, good evening. Tonight we spoke to a travel agent who says for the First Time Ever he suddenly had a hotel group cancel 25 reserved rooms for that upcoming Army Navy Football game. Those hotels acknowledge they are offering rooms to refugees instead of paying customers. I never had a hotel take back a block of rooms. This is a first. They had not emailed any of the clients and had no way to reaccommodate any of the clients. That travel agent says most of his clients for the Army Navy Game are veterans or veterans families. In a statement, a spokesperson for the Hotel Management company confirmed that it will be housing refugees for the next several months, writing in part, as a gesture a solidarity we are opening our doors seeking ref judge in our community we spoke with Massachusetts Republican state representative stephen exaros, the issue with the upcoming game has expose add bigger problem. He estimates there are 22000 migrants housed across massachusetts right now. Some of whom he says has jumped to the front of the line ahead of residents. We have constituents that have been waiting for years trying to get a shelter or veterans, lets say, that dont have a place to live but right now we are giving people shelter at a cost of they are saying 45 million. Now that state rep thinks hotels are signing long term lucrative deals to house migrants which is a disservice to paying customers. A popular Tourist Destinations such as cape cod where he lives, migrants are guaranteed shelter under the states right to shelter law which is antiquated. Matt, thank you. And in fact the fox news at night Common Sense Department is also a little concerned that Army Navy Football fans including veterans and Academy Graduates are having trouble to find a place to stay because they got bumped from their hotels, so the rooms can be used to house migrants on the taxpayers dime. Turns out massachusetts as matt said is a right to shelter state, i guess that means if you serve the country youre out. If you break into the country, youre in. The governor of massachusetts says she is troubled by the veterans being bounced but is she troubled . After all, the vets lost their hotel rooms because the state offered a better deal, you know. More money. Did common sense mention this is the Army Navy Game goes back 133 years, 10 sitting president s have attended from Teddy Roosevelt to donald trump, two flyovers, Two Parachute Jumps and alma mater, when sung second you won the game, its tradition. The game is tradition. And yet traditions in america are falls fast. Common sense thinks there is a giant lack of need for nostalgia, an absence of americana. Nothing says america more than the Army Navy Football game unless you cant make the game because you have no place to stay. Meantime a Community Meeting in chicago got very heated with residents making it clear they are not okay with the plan to house migrants at a park used for kids sports. Live with that part of the story. Mary ann. It was fury on chicagos west side where residents blasted the citys move to convert a field house used for at risk youth to a makeshift home to House Thousands of migrants. That continued pouring into the city, 500 people packed into a Community Meeting to make their voices heard. But the reality gotta say no because thats the simple solution is no. Turn the buses around. Yeah, we become a community of black people where they get the low scraps, here you want to take the little scraps, the resources that we have and put us at the bottom of the barrel, thats not fair and i dont have it. Migrants packed police stations, Ohare International airport and the tent city that mayor Brandon Johnson is setting up. Tonight were Learning Johnson is planning a trip to the southern border, one alderman is pushing back, want as hotel to be shut down after that address was responsible for 300 police calls this year alone. And you will remember when migrants were first bussed to new york city, mayor eric adams hailed the citys right to shelter status. Well tonight he is seeking to suspend the big apples longstanding obligation to provide shelter to anyone who asked for it as the my grant crisis pushed the city to the brink. Former congresswoman moira. Thank you both for coming on. Myra, to you first, many states as you can see from the reporting weve had are kind of feeling the pain that your state has been feeling for years if not decades. Absolutely. Its clear that joe biden has turned our southern border into a war zone and now every state has become a border state. And im not saying that im happy to see what they are going through, but im glad that they now understand what we have been going through for years. And i hope that they wake up and not continue supporting these open Border Policies. Because if these open Border Policies that have created this humanitarian crisis and its getting worse every single day. Just this past month alone we had 250,000 illegal crossings and its just out of control. Out of control, you are exactly right. May, i want to get your take on breaking news, the dhs Secretary May or kiss says quoting now, there is an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries. Imagine this, President Biden said, absolutely not another foot of wall, they are talking about some 20 miles of border wall, may. Yeah, i mean they wasted a lot of money by pausing contracts and then they decimated our border while they did nothing. Here is the unfortunate part though, border walls dont matter for democrat administrations like this one, why . Because migrants can climb the walls, they can cut through the walls, when you get to the other side are there any consequences no no there are not. Border walls when you have an administration willing to enforce the walls and deport people. Border walls do not work when you are Secretary Mayorkas, i need a barrier in the vicinity of the border, once you come in, its welcome to america. I love the word vicinity. It makes me laugh. Chicago said this about the flood of migrants, watch. You cannot keep bringing immigrants in. The city does not have the money. Can you not track them, you aint tracking them at the police station, you dont know but you want to spread them over the city. Its unsanitary, its un156 and its just not right. Karine jeanpierre says its republicans who are criticizing this. Its shameful that the Biden Administration continues to put Illegal Immigrants first versus the american people. I hope these people wake up and stop voting for these policies because they continue to vote democrat and its the Democrat Party that encourages and rewards illegal immigration. So, they want to see change, they need to walk away from the Democrat Party. And if they havent done so before, this is the time. Yeah, i want to put this up. Jb pritzker, untenable, requires your immediate help talking to the president beyond the coming Work Authorizations for some of the asylum seekers. Everybody is asking for help, nobody is getting it, your final thoughts. The neighborhood in chicago thats demanding that migrants not come to their neighborhood, what did they expect . Everyone was going to flood into texas and stay there and we dont care about texas . Thats not how it works. Chicago voted 70 for an open borders democrat. This is after they already knew that biden was not going to respect any laws on our border. And so do you know what, there are consequences to your own actions. You get what you vote for. Thank you both. Meantime Kevin Mccarthy is out, the question is who is in . Who will be the next speaker of the house and when . Senior National Correspondent kevin cork with a list of wanna bee speakers. Good evening trace, the list is fairly streamlined at least so far tonight with the exception of a couple of lets call them possible wildcards including one rather notable wildcard which would obviously be the biggest of them all. Right now majority leader Steve Scalise, judiciary chair jim jordan, the most favored of republicans on capitol hill with chair, kevin hurt getting support, new york gubinatorial cabinet lee zeldin, percolating in the days to come the gop president ial candidate, former President Donald Trump himself is getting support on the hill among members. Why not, after all the speaker need not be a member. And mr. Trumps popularity inside the party is undeniable. A lot of people have been calling me about speaker, well do whatever is best for the country and for the republican party. You would have to overcome rule 26. The former president made it clear, his focus is winning back his old job at the white house. People are still going to talk about it. Speaking of the white house, the sentiment there, it doesnt matter who the gop selects as speaker, just pick somebody ready to work. A majority of americans are sick and tired of the Join Fighting that they are seeing in the house right now. They want us to work in a bipartisan way, the president is willing to do that. This is shaping up to a relatively quiet week with respect to a vote. We dont expect a new one to happen until sometime next week. We get to play just who might be it . Trace. Well do it again tomorrow night. Lets bring informer Senior Adviser and lauren wright, Princeton University political scientist. Well play the game that kevin was talking about, put these on the screen. We have Steve Scalise, we have tom emmer, jim jordan, he in hern, mchenry former President Donald Trump. Lauren, give me your top two and why. Jim jordan and Steve Scalise, and i think scalise is more likely because he has hes in better standing with the 18 House Republicans that are serving in districts biden won. Those moderates need to get on board with someone and lets not forget Jim Jordan Ran Against Mccarthy in 2018 for speaker, he lost. 159 to 43. A lot of people dont like him. But yes, its fun to imagine it could be someone totally out of the box. Garrett, your thoughts. Yeah, i mean obviously its going to have tuesday next week House Republican conference will meet, candidate forum, these members of congress who want to republican members of congress who specifically want to be speaker will meet members, you will have a case, whoever gets the majority there will go to the floor as a republican nominee to speaker where they need to get to 218, two leading are Steve Scalise and jim jordan, he raised a lot of money, institutional knowledge. Jim jordan has strong relationships with members, both moderates and more hard line members a Founding Member of the Freedom Caucus leading the investigations. I do think President Trump here i think what he said is interesting, folks are throwing out his name. I think what it shows is he is popular with members still. And lets pick it up there. Ron desantis by 350 points. President trumps name keeps coming up. He said this, watch. A lot of people are talking to me about speaker. All i can say is i will do whatever is best for the country. Leading by like 50 points for president. You know, my focus is totally about it. Bloomberg says the follow, the constitution says only the House Of Representatives shall choose their speaker and officers. No one indicted for a felony punishable by more than two years in prison can serve in leadership. What do you think, lauren, can he serve . I think thats a pretty big obstacle. And by the way, i dont think former President Trump would like the job or even be good at it. I mean, its drudgery. It is whipping votes, it is making deals, it is not glamorous. And so, he probably does want the top job, not what Kevin Mccarthy just went through and nancy pelosi spent all that time getting the squad to get on board with her and she was very good at it but they had serious divisions, too, on the democratic side. Yeah, i want to put this up. This is Kevin Mccarthy, he said this, good point, final thought. Watch. In todays world if you are sitting in congress, you took a gamble to make sure government was still open and eight people can throw you out as speaker, and the democrats who said they wanted to keep government open i think youve got a real divide. I think you got a real institutional problem. 10 seconds for you, 96 of his caucus and he is out. A lot of moderate members share that and a number of other members here i think. President trumps involvement in this race is important, very popular, members float him. Well see if he makes an endorsement, jim jordan and Steve Scalise are top. Elect a strong speaker, get back to the legislature for the american people. Garrett, lauren in, gotta go. In real news round group, 75,000 Healthcare Workers walked off the job demanding better pay and benefits from kaiser permanente, affecting five states and washington d. C. , they are keeping Emergency Room Doors open but patients may experience delays. President biden approving another 9 billion in student debt forgiveness, meant to help those working in Public Service for at least ten years as well as those who are disabled. So, far the total cost of forgiving student debt since Biden Took Office 127 billion. California lawmakers repealed the controversial law that critics say censored the free speech of doctors and pucked them if they did not toll the line on covid19. Under the measure physicians could lose their license if they gave Patients Information that did not align with the states guidance. Meantime on the issue of censorship, wrote the following, quoting, the Fifth Circuit caught of appeals, missouri, v biden ruled against federal officials for colluding tech forms, you hardly know it from the limited press coverage. In other words the white house and fbi conducted a major attack on free speech especially concerning Covid Information and america said so what. Lets bring in journalist matt taibbi, reported big tech censorship. We had this Massive Attack that you reported and covered on free speech and america just slugged its shoulders. What do you make of this . You noll, trace, im actually not sure that thats 100 the case. I think people actually do care quite a lot about this issue. The only segment of American Society that really doesnt care about it is the main stream press. The people who should care about it the most because it most directly effects their livelihoods and, you know, and their professions. But there has been a virtual blackout on this issue when we started covering twitter file stories, no matter what we covered, whether it was about, you know, censorship on the left or the right, they ignored it. And this historic case that is going towards the supreme court, in addition to some others, they should be getting huge amount of coverage and they are not which is a bit of a mystery, frankly. And the reason i brought this up, matt, because there are two polls that caught my eye, one is the pugh research, well put this on the screen. Governments should take steps to restrict false information even if it restricts Freedom Of Information among democrats and democrat leaning voters, 70 say yes. Then this real clear politics poll that says, that literally onethird of democratic voters, 34 say americans have too much freedom. This compared to 14. 6 of republicans. Do those numbers surprise you at all . No, i mean i think there has been a concerted, you kn
