that is the only tea. we let bismarck taste our sweet teatoday, he does our beautiful makeup issue he's never had sweet teaand he said, this is pretty good. >> steve: it is pretty good. >> ainsley: my mama would put one cup or two cups of sugar. >> lawrence: i think mine was two. >> ainsley: it might have been two, i can't remember. >> steve: somehow we made it out of childhood. thanks to slim chickens. >> ainsley: and for all of you coming out. we love talking to y'all. we talked about the young girl who has been missing, the nine year old, there is her precious picture. the kidnapping suspect is behind bars days after he snatched this little girl. >> steve: charlotte sena was found safe on monday thanks to fingerprint evidence on a ransom note. >> brian: todd piro joins us live. todd. >> todd: good morning, keep the cheering going for this story, this story has a happy ending. moreau lake state park where nine-year-old charlotte sena was kidnapped. take a look at the timeline. charlotte vanished on saturday night when she took a bike ride with friends. her inner pas became concerned when the sun went down. they called 911 after finding her bike abandoned in the woods. early yesterday morning police say the suspect actually showed up at the family's house to drop a ransom note in the mailbox. police were able to lift a fingerprint and the suspect was found. kathy hochul yesterday once an arrest was made. >> after some resistance, the suspect was taken into custody and the little girl was found in a cabinet covered. she was rescued. >> todd: craig nelson roberts jr. was arraigned and charged with first-degree kidnapping. i spoke with a sena family friend and he said everyone is relieved that charlotte is safe. >> just elated, you try to stay as optimistic as possible. you have to think of the bad side and it never occurred. now just thrilled. >> todd: the suspect is in saratoga county jail. 400 people searched for charlotte. her elementary school said it will have extra counselors available to talk with any classmates or staff who need support. back to you in a happy ending to what could have been a horrible ending. >> steve: thank you. found in a cabin. >> ainsley: found in a cabin in a camper in a cabinet with a blanket over her or covered in a camper behind his mom's house. he lives in the camper and the mom lives in the double wide trailer. >> lawrence: apparently the evil guy put up a fight against law enforcement. >> steve: he wound up in the hospital briefly. >> lawrence: as he should have been. >> steve: now he is in jail. >> ainsley: he had a dui in the '90's and that is why he was in the system. >> steve: police will have a press conference and we'll bring it to you live. >> lawrence: three armed car jackers are on the loose after holding a texas congressman at gunpoint yesterday about a mile from the capitol. alexandria hoff has the latest. >> alexandria: good news is congressman henry cuellar escaped the situation without injury. he was robbed of his vehicle, phone and other items in the carjacking outside his apartment building. this is a popular area a mile south of the capitol building. lawmakers live there and young professionals, as well. cuellar chief of staff wrote, three armed assail notaces approached him and robbed his vehicle. he was not hurt. thank you to metro pd for recovering the vehicle. mike lee writing, my friend, rep cuellar became the victim of a crime in the nice part of d.c., d.c. is dangerous, something has gone wrong here. d.c. laws must intervene. check this out, year to date, 750 carjackings occurred in the district and 75% of the cases, a gun was involved. this is second house democrat attack near the capitol. angie craig was assaulted in the elevator of her apartment building, that suspect was caught and charged. >> steve: that neighborhood, navy yard is popular at night, young people live there and members of congress live in the high rises, i think aoc lives in the neighborhood, as well. there is a lot of foot traffic. >> a lot of people are trying to hold on to the idea of navy yard being a hot spot. great restaurants and built up nicely. every couple months you hear of murders taking place and this carjacking. >> ainsley: they didn't know it was henry cuellar, it was random? >> alexandria: most cases, it is juveniles, might not have recognized henry cuellar, but might have recognized the car as a nice one. >> steve: i got a message from one of my kids, it happened outside their house last night. >> ainsley: tell them to be careful. >> brian: day one of what could be a three-month trial against donald trump. they are going after his success as a business man. they are saying he committed fraud and overestimated his properties. get to the bottom of this one and waste everybody's time and think about the countless dollars and cents put into this place. the president of the united states decided i will be there day one and day two to defend what he's done as businessman that made him famous, overestimating golf courses and buildings and after being critical in the beginning, at the end, he was relatively happy because after suing, i found out to make the judge examine the statute of limitations on the charges against him, the judge, who seems like a total clown, goes, a lot of this stuff did go past the statute of limitations since it is prior 2011. >> ainsley: transactions that are out of the case. 80% of transacs. he was praising the judge for looking. he also said he is a democrat and called the court rigged. here is trump praising him after the court session. >> last five minutes was outstanding, the judge conceded that the statute of limitations we had in appeals is in effect. therefore about 80% of the case is over. i was going to come out and say we're not entitled to a jury, which is unusual in the united states of america. so it is unfair i don't have a jury, but the judge's last statement was very fair and if i read it right, i interpret that the statute of limitations is a very real thing in this country. and that would be about 80% of this case would be over. >> steve: donald trump says his interpretation of what the judge said, he was open to throwing out a lot of old stuff and that is why the trump team took it as a victory. the attorney general put out a video and challenged trump's interpretation and said we disagree with comments made by mr. trump and his attorneys regarding the statute of limitations. the judge was not crystal clear about what they might do about it. >> lawrence: why is the attorney general here? i know this is campaign promise, was she there when kids are being shot up in harlem and when bodega owners are being robbed and stabbed. it is so insulting to people of new york that have to deal with this crime-ridden city, that you never see the attorney general there for that. what about the carjackings, is she at those trials? is she putting pressure on da's in new york city to do something about it? guy in his real estate, target him because he is a political opponent? >> brian: why aren't you suing joe biden for destroying your city with 125,000 illegal aliens. governor cuomo says they should be suing the federal government for what is happening in new york. >> ainsley: we will see how it affects the polls. people are looking at this and saying, really, people are being pushed in the subways, crime everywhere, illegal immigrants sleeping on the streets and this is what they are worried about. >> brian: it is bad for president trump, he could be fined $250 million. >> ainsley: they want to ruin his life and bankrupt him. >> brian: while he appeals they could put 40 wall street in receivership and they could prevent him from earning revenue, that affects him. he could still be president, this will destroy his business, wealth, legacy, while you wait for justice to be done. you could see it and brought that up in eric's face, too, this is stressful. >> ainsley: everyone standing behind him, including his son eric, it is like are they doing this to us. he bought lunch for everyone in the courtroom. staffers were brought into the courtroom with bags of mcdonald's. donald trump loves shakes and clemson tigers were served chick-fil-a when they went to the white house. >> steve: regarding donald trump, front-runner on the republican side by a mile and on the democrats side, the dnc will not let anybody else in, that is why r.f.k. jr. is talking about going independent. monmouth did another poll and asked viewers and voters and talked to registered voters and 76% of americans say joe biden is too old. three quarters of the country says joe biden is too old, half the country says donald trump is too old. then when it comes down to the question of who will motivate you to go and vote, either in the primary or general election, look at this, only 32% enthusiastic about joe, 37 about don and when you look at not enthusiastic at all, 70% biden, 62% say donald trump. that is so loud, this is good time to talk to the people. >> lawrence: we want to know what they think about it. hello, how are you? are you excited about this next election? you thinking more biden or donald trump? >> donald trump. you don't have to finish. >> lawrence: why donald trump? >> i know he loves our country and he is a godly man. >> lawrence: thank you, man. sir, what about you, who you leaning toward? >> donald trump, baby. >> lawrence: why? >> he's got a report card, he talks from the heart and people know his true self. he's not a phony, he's for the people. >> lawrence: appreciate it. what do you think about the prosecution of donald trump? yesterday during his press conference, he said it is election interference. >> as a lawyer, i'm petrified i'm watching judges and prosecutors behave this way to individual americans. the other point about polls, the 67% that is not enthusiastic is a whole bunch of trump supporters who are lying to pollsters. biden is -- those are his numbers. >> lawrence: what is going on with joe biden? seems like lack of enthusiasm with him with his own party. why is that? >> things keep coming out now, he's done and doesn't sound good for him. i don't think anybody is very proud of him shaking hands with the air and not knowing his way off the stage and putting us to shame in front of the rest of the world. i think that is what is happening to democrats. >> lawrence: thank you, i think i got time for one more. ma'am, i will come back to you. >> hi. >> lawrence: who is your candidate in this race? >> donald trump. >> lawrence: why? >> when he was president, i felt like my life was better. i felt safer, our bank account was better. we didn't have immigrants clogging our schools and making us not feel safe. >> lawrence: carley, you have headlines for us. >> carley: your lovely guest talked about how streets are not safe anymore. philadelphia police trying to track down an armed motorcyclist. he dropped a handgun before picking it up and aiming it at her. according to the "new york post," the driver's two children were in the car. arrests in philadelphia are piling up in connection to a two-day looting spree that destroyed several stores, so far police have arrested over -- people. the house could vote to oust house speaker kevin mccarthy as early as today according to senior congressional correspondent chad pergram. kevin mccarthy said he is coast he will get through this. >> i said, i'm an optimist and i put my money on myself and i still do to this day. i understand where democrats are, i'm not asking for any special deal or anything else. >> carley: republican members are expected to meet behind closed doors at the top of the hour, first meeting since matt gaetz introduced this. and here is a great question, how early is too early to decorate for christmas? ♪ ♪ well, it is a difficult decision for small businesses across the country, one saying, i feel like november 1 is the happy compromise, the people who don't love it are going to have to live with it. the people who would rather you put it up in july are going to have to be patient. happy medium. let us know what you think is right time to decorate at christmas. november 1 sounds like a good time. >> ainsley: absolutely, thank you, carley. she saved my life. it is a song by country music legend george jones, but he meant it talking about his beautiful wife nancy. she is credited with helping him turn his life around. the story what it took has never been told until now, her new book, "playing possum," talks about his alcohol problems, drugs and inner demons and she joins us now. so good to have you here. >> thank you, i'm excited. >> ainsley: this beautiful picture, the cover of your book, what comes to your mind? >> the love and there was a lot of love there. love and god pulls you through everything. without that and without good lord i would not be here today. >> ainsley: we can all say that today, i remember being in high school and i went to hear george jones and conway twitty. my dad said, i hope he shows up, his nickname is no-show jones. he did show up. he passed in 2013. we will get into that. how did you do it? when people struggle with drugs and alcohol, you stood by your man and made a commitment, how did you get through the tough years? >> the tough years, you have patience and know that you are in love with your husband or any person you are working with. have patience and as george would say, you don't have to nag and i didn't do that. without jesus, i would never have been able to get this man. >> ainsley: what was the point he said, i wanted to change my life. >> he said, i want to change my of well, accept the good lord and live a good life for you, be a good husband for you and that is what we worked on. he says, i want to go to heaven. >> ainsley: you want to read an excerpt? >> i can. >> his life changed what year? >> 1999, he hit a bridge and died really. god brought him back because he wasn't through with him. >> ainsley: literally hit a bridge, a car accident? >> uh-huh. it says, i got my husband back, a husband i should have had to begin with, a man who trusted god with his strength and his w weakness, making him the strongest man i've ever known. at last, george jones was a man who wanteds to live and believe in god. >> ainsley: that was 1999, 2013, he died with lung related issues. you had 14 great years with him at the end. >> i sure did. i worked so hard to get this wonderful man and 14 years is what -- if i didn't get but one year that would have been great, 14 years of a good husband. >> ainsley: have you found love again? >> no, and i'm not even looking, right now i'm just living my life, too. and writing this book, i put so much into this book. it's been tears and laughter and this is the hardest book i've ever in my life even attempted to write. but i wanted the world to know all his fans to know this was one wonderful man. he really was. he was funny, serious, he loved god so much but those demons didn't want to come out of there. i got one, i thought, i've got that one out, there were more in there. >> ainsley: these men, we fall in love with men with a lot of demons. >> you got to jerk them out of there. >> ainsley: i'm proud of you for staying, you are sending a man on the rode, not trust being him and you stuck by your man. god bless you. "playing possum," how did you come up with this title? >> his name possum, it was his nickname. he hated it because it was a turned up nose and he could play possum. you think he is asleep and all of a sudden, he wasn't asleep. >> ainsley: that is a man for you, right? >> that ain't no lie. the whole thing, playing possum i wanted my memories of george jones out there. >> ainsley: what is your best memory? >> my memory of george jones is knowing he was funny and a lot of people did not know that. i made sure that was in here. he was a sweet, lovable man, he just was so hard and trying so hard to get the demons out of him as much as i was trying to get them out. to believe in god as much as he did, unbelievable, even when he would be so messed up, all i had to do was talk about god and talk about jesus and he was like, tell me more. you knew in your heart he was really wanting to straighten up. >> ainsley: you were together for 32 years, right? >> a few things. the local economy, convenience, job opportunities, a drug store is impactful that way. it is interesting because i just was in the garden state mall a couple weeks ago and amazing what they were trying to do. on the second floor is like laser tag all day long, all you can do. still what parent is going to take their kid to the mall if there is rampant shop lifting. one big issue you have in urban areas and cities that defund the police did not work. if you can't prosecute somebody, you see this effect on the community, economically and any way you can think of. >> steve: at that mall, i was buying something and i said how often are there shoplifters here? they said all the time, that person, watch, they will walk out and the stores given paradigm of online shopping, stores don't have much stuff in them anymore. >> they don't, it is frustrating because you need something in a pinch and they don't have it. if they have it, it is locked up behind a case. could be like t-shirts and you have to find somebody to unlock it and nobody is working at the stores. for a lot of people, it is the crime. why would i do this? you add up effect of that, it makes life tough for families, they need things in a pinch and two, it kills jobs, entry level jobs for people that may be in semiretirement. they go away when everybody moves to online shopping because the experience is so bad. >> lawrence: you have retail planners that knew they were losing monand they reinvested in some cities, now to have to close. in the age of social justice, they felt they were not making profit, they would have to build more stores. >> charlie: the way they articulate this, up until last earnings season, they have come out, large -- biggest ones, saying, we will lose money. we've never seen it like this. they were trying to be politically correct. now they're just, we can't be politically correct. we are in business to make money and we are losing money. some of them start talking about jurisdictions. >> steve: you hate to go to a mall and so many store fronts are papered over, it is a ghost town. >> that invites more crime. people look around and say there is nothing happening here, this is open season space, that is what they do. these communities need economic development, that was the whole story of 2020. fight crime because you want economic results and seeing down side of that, there are places in america, east harlem, target is leaving. they need that space and retailer. it starts with making it safe again. >> steve: we're having breakfast with friends, you'll have a town hall today, right?
