hello everyone. i am doctor nicole safire along with jason, megan and joey jones welcome to the big weekend show. elon musk versus a san francisco socialist. musk is throwing some big-time jabs at a supervisor for wanting to prevent armed security guards from doing their jobs. the tech mogul posting on x dean preston should go to prison. preston introduced to prevent them from pulling out their guns to protect property. a board of supervisors committee just past the plan last week. is this the right move for the city currently being overrun by criminals? preston says "i believe strongly that nobody should ever have to die just because they are suspected of stealing property". now that elon musk is taking him on and calling him to be sent to prison over it, he is not happy. he said "a billionaire calling for dramatically elected -- a democratically elected official to be sent to prison for no reason is textbook fascism". jason, you know, i thought it was an interesting choice of wording for that post about calling elon musk a fascist when supporting the right to defend oneself in defense one property, that is actually fundamentally american through the constitution, through the castle laws and doctrines. what do you take of musk's post? hyperbole? what do you think? >> a little over the top. people don't go to the jail just because they introduce a piece of legislation that they don't like. i can understand the frustration because nobody seems to be fighting back. here you have an armed security guard who feels like their life is threatened, the person allegedly, the allegation said to the security guard, i am going to stab you in that person ends up getting shot and killed. the district attorney will not charge that person. if you commit these types of crimes, people at the right to protect themselves and the property. so there has got to be some pushback. first of all, there needs to be more of a police presence in more of a prosecution of criminals that commit these crimes. they just seem to say like dean preston, the board of supervisors, he has a guy he was just letting this happen and encouraging these types of things to go on with no consequence. that is why so many law-abiding people are frustrated. >> jason is mentioning a 24 -year-old, he was suspected to be shoplifting and did an altercation. it sounds like he threatened he would stab the security guard, the security guard shot and killed him. preston is saying the answer to this is disarming private security guards. when you talk about unarmed security guards and has increased 350% from 2007. 110 died last year and punishments for unarmed security guards being killed is significantly less than a policeman being killed. now, we saw what happened, when you take a couple of bad apples when it comes to policeman and you have the whole d from the police movements because of a few bad actors, we saw the consequences from that. the answer cannot be to disarm the protectors because we know the offenders will be armed. >> they will not disarm security guards. let me tell you why. more security guards and they are police officers. who has armed security guards? not just the walgreens. celebrities and tech ceos in nancy pelosi and everyone else in that city has an armed security guard because they know the police cannot protect them. they will not disarm security guards. what they are saying is, the regulation, it allows for security guards to use a weapon in defense of stolen property, the police and state law don't have as easily, they are little bit more stringent. which they should be. they are acting as a state. we should have more protection from the state than each other in a way. police have other tools, other techniques, other opportunities. they are being called in response to something. protecting yourself at the last opportunity. i'm not saying a secure -- security guard is able to shoot somebody easier, but using the second amendment or and armed way of defending yourself and someone's attacking you, if you're not trained like a police officer, you will not be asked to do the things like using up taser. >> comparing what a police officer can use deadly force for it is kind of apples and oranges >> the whole thing seems a bit muddy. when you just look at california in general, it is dwindling. the first time in decades since 2020 your population leaving california. your business is leaving at alarming rates. this is not just antidotal delay businesses are leaving more than they ever have before. about 300 businesses have left. a lot of this is largely due to the lack of law and order, the rising crime and the taxes. elon musk posted on x, you know, he is blaming dean preston and some of the other democratic politicians. dean preston needs to be fired. the person most responsible for the destruction of san francisco when he is talking about preston 's policies, also at the zero bail policies, it is like they are intentionally trying to get people to leave california. >> don't they know these policies don't work? these are liberal governors, liberal lawmakers, liberal mayors, liberal district attorneys and this is throughout california, this is new york and chicago and philadelphia. they treat criminals like victims and they treat law-abiding residents and citizens like garbage. i will point to dean preston. he posted, went on social media, to urge san francisco to launch a campaign to tell visitors, not to leave things in their cars because they may get broken into what does that tell you? if you are asking for it. you are asking to be robbed if anything is in your automobile. that is in essence, he equated it with the buckle up campaign to restrain, to encourage people to use seatbelts. no, it is not the same thing. it is not even, i want to step back because i followed this young woman on twitter. her name is mandy and she lived in the tenderloin. she posted a video some time ago of a fire, a homeless encampment caught on fire. her building almost caught on fire. she was very vocal. there is no one in this city who is protecting people that have to live in go to work here. she has since left. when elon musk said dean preston should go to prison, she said you can say that again. so, dean preston can lose his mind over elon musk and tried to make the problem about him. it is not. it is problems that these left wing lawmakers created there. i just want to mention one more thing. there is a man john lost his life. he worked in, he was a shopkeeper who worked in the outer richmond district in the richmond market. he tried to stop a beef from taking year. he was beaten with a baseball bat. they do not prosecute shoplifting. they don't prosecute this type of theft and this is what happens. he was doing the right thing because in his heart and in his soul, he would not let someone steal from where he worked. i just want to know if she -- dean preston went to his funeral i want to know if lawmakers in san francisco went to his funeral. i spent all afternoon reading about that man's life. he had just become a u.s. citizen months prior to his death. he came to this country to make a better life for his family. when people talk about nonviolent crime, there is no such thing. when they start treating shoplifting as if it is not a crime, it is a crime and it leads to the death of people who believe in protecting property and protecting things around them. so, to john's family or to johannes family, i pray for you today and i hope everyone prays for them. >> a horrible, horrible story. not the only one that we hear. innocent lives being lost and it is not just elon musk. you actually have 12 cities in california now suing l.a. over their new zero bail policy. they know that this is just doing more and more, taking us away from the state of law and order and it will prevent more violent crimes. sounding the alarm on the guy that pulled the fire alarm before congress voted. what does fellow squad members aoc say. it's time for the ridiculous span. that is coming up next. ♪ [music “this little light of mine”] in the world's poorest places, children with cleft conditions live in darkness and shame. they're shunned, outcast, living in pain. you can reach out and change the life of a suffering child right now. a surgery that take as little as forty five minutes and your act of love can change a child's life forever. please call, scan or go online to give a new smile. thousands of children are waiting.
