That does it for the second republican primary debate. Live from the Ronald Reagan president ial. Thank you to all the candidates. We love having you here tonight and we will see you out on the campaign trail. Have a great evening. Thank you for joining us, everyone tonight. When i welcome to hannity, the second Republican Debate is now in the books and we are live from the spin room at the Ronald Reagan president ial library in beautiful simi valley, california. Coming up in just moments, Ron Desantis Nikki haley, the Vivek Ramaswamy mike pence, senator tim scott will join us right here on set. By the way, someone you might not expect to see at a Republican Debate, California Governor Gavin Newsom will join us. I got to ask him. I came to the state. First thing i see is 7 a gallon for gasoline. Weve got a question two to ask him. But they do have in and out burger anyway. First, sparks were flying at tonights debate as all seven candidates easily demonstrated the ability to circles around joe biden. We can start with that point. Were going to Laura Ingrahams take in just a minute. But first here with reaction in the spin room. Fox news contributor kellyanne conway, fox business host larry kudlow. Good to see you both. Right. Headlines. You run away with anybody on that stage, do a better job than joe biden and Kamala Harris. I think donald trump is a little bit of winner tonight because when his name was invoked, they kept saying should be here to defend his record. He should be here to debate. He should be here to face the people. Why would you want him there when hes going to eat into your time . And i think eating to some of their some of their sound bites, i thought it was a little flat today. I thought everybody had a good moment. But moments showing will not overtake a frontrunner leading by 40 points. Moments wont tell the American People what you would do differently. Its got to be a big moment. Were in the Reagan Library so we can say this. Remember, there was a lot of questions about reagan going into the second debate with mondale and he turns to them and he goes, i will not allow my opponents and inexperience become an issue in this campaign, nothing like that. Even mondale started laughing. It was game over at that point. There was nothing like that tonight. But look, i think everybody did well enough to make it to the next debate in miami, which probably is their goal. The question is, what are you doing during the five weeks in between the debates . These important nights . But you got to get out there and mix it up with the people. And i actually i thought that the moderators are very well prepared. I you get extra credit if you actually answer some of the questions they came to play with they had certain things they wanted to say and they got it out. They took on china, which is great. There was a little bit of more of an economic plan on how to turn around biodynamics and inflation. Young people cant afford a house yet people are in debt. 40 year high mortgage interest rates, 40 year high inflation. People are suffering everyday. I think there was enough Connective Tissue from these candidates tonight that they can make a case. I know a little bit more about your struggles. Maybe joe biden, but i dont. I think the polls arent going to move much. Yeah, larry, yeah, there were a lot of little moments. No big moments. Its hard to get a big moment. Remember, reagan set, the car . There he goes again there. Well, maybe those all got us. I mean, for 40 years and people have been using that line. So its hard to get a big moment. I agree with kellyanne. I wanted somebody to say, as per reagan, i worked for reagan long time ago. I come into the Reagan Library. We played all these reagan clips on my show. This i, i wanted someone to say, as per reagan, that government is the problem not the solution. Yeah, i actually played that clip of reagan when he said at the war it was nine words i believe in. Yes, in the english, like im here. Im here from the government. Im here to help you. Thats right. I also wanted someone to say that we need to get four or 5 economic growth, not percent. So we should be slashing taxes across board. We should be lowering marginal tax rate the way John F Kennedy did, the way Ronald Reagan did, the way donald trump did. I want to just to say that tough stuff to get the economy moving. There are a lot of good points on the economy. They acted more like republicans this week than they did the last debate. Did they make the sale on the economy. Im not entirely sure that they punched away at it to some extent. I still dont think. Bidennomics was buried today on that stage. I dont think so. I dont think there were direct hits. And i was just would you both agree with me . I felt there were a couple of people and im not going to sit here and be insulting and name names. It just really didnt have any business being on that stage. We all know they dont have a chance and for them. This is their moment and maybe their criteria to be a little tighter going into any future debate. Well, theres going to come a time, shawn and larry, where you have to justify being on the debate stage if youre still mired in Single Digits, if you truly want to get rid of joe biden and Kamala Harris, people talk about unity. They say democrats have unity. You know, the democrats have unanimity. Every single democrat was exactly the same way. Inflation reduction and not for the tax cut. And act against amy coney barrett. They all voted for hakeem jeffries, 15 ballots, all 213 of them. The point is, we can have unity to try to get together to defeat joe biden. Its early in the process, but as time goes on and you just making the debate stage and yet youre mired in Single Digits in the early states and nationwide, you have to ask yourself, how much can i sacrifice on behalf of the team to get rid of joe biden . And well see what gavin newsom has say. Hell probably bring a message tonight thats a little bit better than maggie maga maga republican. Deplorable, irredeemable. But i think if youre a democrat and i used to be very worried that joe biden and Kamala Harris are not even being asked what they have to say about this field. People are. Let me ask you this. Shouldnt i just make up an exit question . And we have the governor coming on in a minute. Heres my question. Did anyone distinguish themselves as a clear with donald trump having such a dominant lead in the polls as the one person that could give him any run for his money . I dont think there was a breakout breakout, if thats what youre asking. No, i dont think so. Kellyanne. No, not enough to overcome him in the polls, enough to survive. So i think their best argument is a war of attrition. Slow and steady wins the race. But no, nobody there made the case as to what they would do differently or better than he did. They want to build a wall. They want to secure the border. They sounded a lot like him. And look, i give them credit for taking on big issues, but i dont think that there was enough clarity. And sean, i said hillary early in the day, i want to come out tonight feeling a way i didnt feel after the first debate, which is each person has a two or three point prescriptive plan to fix this issue or that issue. Its forget what we want to hear. And this is what the American People want to hear. And the Debate Moderators were asking questions on behalf we, the people that werent being answered. Respond quick, larry. Yeah, tim scott, i got to give tim scott a lot of credit because. He did this riff on blacks, africanamericans, somehow through slavery, and then went on to say that the Great Society of lbj and all the democratic since then have made the black situation worse ,not better. Breaking up The Black Family was a powerful, damaging, damaging, powerful moment. I thought he faced discrimination, that america is not a race. I just have to give him credit for that. Whether he wins or loses or draws, that was something to behold. Hes a very inspiring speaker, say that kind of thing. And the data, the evidence shows that senator tim scott is absolutely right. The worst thing to happen to Minority Groups and africanamericans, in particular in this country in the last hundred years was the Great Society and the leaving the democratic party, hispanics particularly. I mean, its just say both was brilliant. You, larry, i thought it was great being on your show earlier. Thank you. I appreciate. All right. Joining us now with more, i see ron desantis is pulling. Hell be the first guest is the host of the hit show the ingraham angle, The One And Only laura ingraham. Now, just a moment, if i may. The single most question im asked is, oh, how come we dont have the handoff anymore . How come you and how come laura doesnt, you know, poke at you every night . I know my football. I left it. I left it in the other room. Darn it. I was going to throw it at the screen, but theyre mad at me here if i break another camera. Sean, number one, i miss you, but you look great. Youre doing a fantastic job. But let me tell you dovetailing into your previous conversation with kellyanne and larry, i think after watching this tonight, tonight the debate, i want to see before your debate that youre going host between, of course, desantis and newsom is desantis and nikki haley, because for me ,at least tonight, those two emerged as the strongest advocates for their brand of conservatism. Nikki haley is a lot closer to the gop establishment. The donor base on issues of regarding ukraine and the Immigration System is broken. All that kind of lingo and you have desantis, whos much more in the populist strain of donald and probably the person if trump ends up being the nominee the likely person to pick it, pick up the torch after trump. So a debate, those two maybe without a moderator, unless the i think would be fascinating for the American People because all those big issues in this debate, nikki haley on your show. I got it. I have a little back now. You see what im saying . Im just saying how about you see you see what im saying about this, though . Is it . I understand. Thats it. Thats the struggle inside the party, the populist part. The party is much bigger as 80, 84 of the party versus, what, 26 of the party or percent of the party, depending on what polls you look at. So i think would be interesting. But i agree. I dont think anyone had like a sarcasm moment. I know vivek is coming up. Hes a very smart guy, but he seemed to be on the defensive a lot. They were all coming at him tonight and. Burgum, you know, he seems very smart, but he has to he has to move on down the road. Christie and pence seem like theyre mostly motivated by their anger toward trump and running. And so i think both of them, you know, god bless them. I like both of them, but thats not going anywhere. So haley and the same time i think people want to hear now, i think thats desantis and nikki haley, thats the debate. We want to see if trumps not going to be on the stage at least. Well, im going ask the governor right now, considering you. You pushed that anyway, laura, we do miss you, but were happy youre doing great it. Seven thanks so much for staying up and being with us. We appreciate it. All right. On the set, an hour after another strong debate performance, Florida Governor ron desantis, how are you, governor . Good to see you. Ill tell you what, ive been in california, Got Into Sunday Night and we were in court. Not it happens in the room all time. I say, yeah, people are buzzing about this debate with you. Youre going to do so. I think its going to be incredible. Were do it. But tonight, look, there was a lot of bickering on the stage. And, you know, my thing is, is like, look, we owe it to the American People to give our vision about were going to reverse this countrys decline. And i think i was able to do that. I think some of the cross i if i was at home watching that, i would turn the channel when i saw that. So we were able to, i think, rise above that and deliver a message in my view. There were a couple of people on that stage in my view, that probably shouldnt been there. I mean, and i think at that point it lends itself mortal conversation. It is interesting. I think this debate is with you and the governor is going to be very interesting. So im looking forward to moderating that. And i think with 90 minutes that just plenty of breathing room. So that will lend itself to more coverage. You know what maybe we can say since former president didnt come here, maybe hed be willing to do one with you. And i think he owes it to our voters to come make the case now, challenging it. So this is going to be. Hannity one on one debate should do it. Lets do it right. Ill do anything. Ill ask. Heres the thing, though. You owe it to the voters to come and make the case no ones entitled anything. You know, you can say, oh, some poll months before, no, you got to make the case. You got to go to the voters. So im going to show up everywhere. I think thats what we were able to do. And, you know, there were some i think, some important issues that that were discussed tonight. Theres also others that i know, you and i ive talked about that werent discussed. But at the end of the day, i think the thing that was clear for this, theres a lot of talk, a lot of people had good things to say. Im the guy thats done it. And floridas was yours. I promise. We delivered and. Were sick of the talk with republicans. They always promise all like what are the two biggest issues arguably right now, the debt and the border. You and i have been talking about this for as long as weve known each other. Isnt it time get a leader to come in and bring this stuff in to a conclusion and a landing. And i think if were able to, you know, to do that with the nomination and win the election, were going to be able to get all this stuff done. Nobody brought up the point regarding the border and thought you had a very strong position of what you would do to close the border and, you know, no nonsense, get this thing close. Its now become, to me more than anything else, the National Security. Yes we are catching people that are on the terror watch list, but were not anybody. We have no idea what theyre back. People are coming from russia, iran, all of our enemy countries. Theyre coming across the border. I hope im wrong, but if i had to bet my life savings would bet that there will be a Terrorist Attack that happens in the future. This country contributed to that. I mean, i wish i with these in dc, they dont care. Theres no urgency. I some of our guys in the house care but like the elites in dc they care. Biden doesnt care. Hes missing in action on this as carnage mounts. And i agree. I mean i think that this is above a National Security issue. Now, theres also nuts and bolts. I mean, the amount of illegals that are pouring in medical care is being tax schools. Its overwhelming communities far away from the border. You see it in passing in new york city. So theyre paying on average 40,000 per illegal immigrant. Okay. And theyre taking out the veterans to make room for the veterans never had the four star hotels. Theyre building all these facilities they expect to spend 12 billion in the next 18 months. And you know theyre claiming this came from governor abbott. No 80 seconds and some and i think its been very good. Its 13 . Heres the problem with this government we have and i think why people are rightfully so frustrated, they cant tell us how many illegals are coming across the border. They cant tell us how many tanks we left in afghanistan. They cant tell you where all the money in ukraine when they cant tell you how cocaine got in the white house and yet they want to go if you do six hundred 1 transaction fair to the investigators spent ten long days investigating where that cocaine came from and came to the conclusion theyll never get a conclusion. How is that . But in the menendez case, they actually found the fingerprints of the people that handed the envelopes. So they claim to senator pretty interesting like believe, you know, he had all the gold bars there. Guess thats a real testament to biden inflation. Listen i love that he google people you need that. How much is a kilo of gold worth, right. You make this up. Generally speaking, you know, i guess the theme of the night as i watched and listened to you tonight was, okay, these are the tough stances i took in florida. These are the thats my proven track record and thats what i want to bring to the white house. Thats your i think its i think its leadership. And i think its deliverables, because we can have great sloganeering. We can have great debates. But if were not ultimately going to get this done, then none of it matters. And one of the things ive been thinking about lately because preparing here, i looked at reagans farewell address. So in 20, 20, 33, in january, what would i say to the American People after serving two terms . And thats really the vision of youre going to be able to get ahead again in this country. Were an economy works for people. Were going to have our sovereignty restored and borders enforce. Were going to make sure that we have education, not indoctrination. We will be the worlds leading superpower. We will fend off the threat from china successfully. Were not going to have crime overrunning every city in america anymore, and were going to restore the constitution. So we have a limited Government Works beside us and on our behalf, not a weaponized government that comes us. If we can do that, then we will have restored the Shining City On Hill that reagan talks about, and well be able to tu
