[chuckles] you mentioned the fact that he said something about single mothers during the debate. >> part of the problem is we have a federal government that pays a single women more not to have a man in the house than to have a man in the house contributing to an epidemic of fatherlessness. >> jesse: what did you mean by that? >> it is important. i understand we want to create incentives for people -- keeping people in marriages. but if you are penalizing people financially, single mothers are not staying in abusive marriages, it is not a good thing for anybody. >> jesse: have you seen the trump mugshot? what do you think? >> yeah, it was an interesting and probably very shrewd decision for him to put on that very defined face. i think it is very popular with his base. >> jesse: what. >> jesse: do you think the mugshot appeals to a democrat base in any way? >> i had a mugshot when i was arrested in puerto rico and -- in 2001 when i was doing a protest against the navy. and i eventually won the lawsuit and got the navy out. when you are a president, you have a strategic decision of how you want to look. i wondered whether he practiced it in front of the mirror or whether he was just angry at the time and that reflected. but i thought from a strategic points of view, worked very well for him. >> jesse: how do you feel about the fact that the president is having democrat prosecutors arrest his political opponent? >> i have been very disciplined about not commenting on the legal proceedings on either s side. because, you know, anything i say is going to be seen as political. >> jesse: so you're going to dodge the question? >> yeah, exactly. >> jesse: you speak about voter i.d. because right now, the country mistrusts the electoral process. people are worried about fraud. people are worried about illegal voting. how would your plan address that? >> passport cards. a lot of poor people, particularly people in cities that don't drive, don't have access to education and if we have a voter i.d. laws, it would keep them from voting. so it would keep a cute demographic of people from voting. and it is costly. and it is costly to get a government photo i.d. >> jesse: how much does a government photo i.d. because? >> $65 and than there's paperwork. it is very convenient for poor people, it is indicated -- you can go down and get it and it is a solution that is endorsed by republicans and democrats and in fact, has a bush endorsement and president clinton endorsement and president carter endorsement. >> jesse: is bipartisan, which means it will never happen. you own an electric car? >> no. >> jesse: why not? >> i have a minivan because i got seven kids and three dogs and a lot of other animals and there's no electric car that they would fit in. >> jesse: are you an avid media consumer? you seem like you watch a lot of fox. >> right now, i get the most reliable and -- newsource other than the jesse watters show is substack. >> jesse: robert bell peters, jrv where. none of these are biden's secret service codenames. these are secret e-mail accounts that joe biden was using to exchange covert messages with hunter biden. other biden what is the biden brand. >> i won't get into it. and are going to get into it from here. we're going to move on. >> jesse: white house is not going to go into whether the white house is for sale, it. jonathan turley is a law professor and fox news contributor. so when someone is conducting business in secret then getting caught and then lying about it, does that make you more or less suspicious? >> well, there's plenty of reason to be suspicious including the fact that the president appears to have been lying to the american people even during the presidential campaign. even the washington post has said that it is untrue what the president has said that indeed his son make money in china and we also know that joe biden was aware of these dealings. one of the things that archer said after his interview with congress was that it was patently false that joe biden did not know about their business. and you also see a change in the media. now the media is willing to accept that indeed hunter biden was running an influence peddling operation. but they insisted he was selling the illusion of influence and access but how do we know that? if you just assume that, these e-mails could go a long way to determining what was a deliverable and whether it went beyond an illusion. >> jesse: walter reed foreign nationals do not usually continue to pay millions of dollars over eight years for an allusion. it is usually not how businessmen make all of those millions of dollars. i want to play some new sound from msnbc. there seems to be in a conspiracy theory that we have put our finger on. listen to the rachel maddow. >> the election means one of two things. if this is the way he is going to approach it. either he loses the election and he goes to the prison. or he wins the election, she does not go to prison, and is that for life that he gets to be president? will we keep having more elections? orono? if every election is in the opportunity for him to go to prison, do you think he will allow us to have new elections? >> jesse: so as a permanent constitutional scholar, do you see any warning signs that if donald trump was reelected, we are canceling future elections until eternity? >> what is bizarre about that clip is that there is, of course, other options. one is that trump could be acquitted. you could have a hung jury. the cases could be thrown out on constitutional grounds. all of those at least our options worth mentioning for appearances say if you are a nation committed to the rule of law. now, what is also missing in all of this is this lack of faith in our system, you know, we did have a terrible, terrible attack on the capitol on january 6. but the system worked. the courts remained firm. all the way up into the certification and afterwards. our system held together. and i always find it strange this crisis of faith that people have. we have a fantastic constitutional system in this country. we have been through a lot. and so having that type of hyperbolic language is not helping. i mean, we need to remain unified in the common article of faith that we have, which is the constitution. in that system has worked and will continue to work. >> jesse: if donald trump is convicted of any of these charges, his appeals are exhausted, do you see any possibility that a judge in the united states is going to throw a former president who is probably going to be 80 years old in person. >> well, it depends on the crime and it also depends on the timing. president trump, indeed pardon himself for federal crimes. for the state crimes, it could create some serious complications. there would first have to send him into jail. but the federal courts may get involved and to the extent that that would interfere with presidential functions. we obviously have not been down that road. that we have to look towards it. and it is going to be a messy situation. the courts are going to have to deal with her. but there's a lot of road between now and then. i mean, it is still not clear what trials could occur before the election. it is also not clear if convictions that were secured would be upheld. it probably is going to be difficult to bring all of these threshold challenges to court of appeals before trial. it is tend to sake that you should get a verdict first and then appeal. but there are substantial constitutional questions to be worked out. so all the hyperbolic language aside, there's a lot of constitutional legal questions that have to be resolved before we reach that point. >> jesse: all immigrant crashed his car into a school bus full of children. fox news correspondent nate foy has the latest. >> reporter: a haitian migrant is accused of killing an 11-year-old boy after troopers say he veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into a school bus on the first day of school in ohio. to process a hermano joseph did not even have a valid drivers license. he reportedly gave troopers a and she is ready to blow the whistle. renowned climatologist and former chair of the atmospheric sciences at georgia tech, judith curry, joins us now. and judith, what happened in your career that led you to this place right now. >> well, i started, you know, in doing my job as a scientist, you know, continued to reevaluate the evidence, question the assumptions and challenge the conclusions. that is my job. and this became inconvenient when, you know, people had a specific narrative that they wanted to put forward about climate change and my questioning became inconvenient. i started criticizing scientists for not making their data publicly available, for not being transparent about their methods, for not just for being overconfident and not paying attention to the uncertainty. and trying to cancel their opponents and anybody who criticized them. and i started speaking up. this was in 2010. and it -- at first, the community did not know what to do with me. but then they quickly started labeling as a denier and tried to discredit me and i continue to do my job as a scientist and continued to point these things out. but i think my criticisms have no credibility with the new book that i publish, "climate uncertainty and risk, rethinking a response." it is published by an academic press and it has been extensively peer-reviewed and extensively documented with references to literature. so i'm hoping that people will take more seriously the arg argument. this point about how we have seriously mischaracterized this whole issue and we are leaving ourselves down a very bad path with some of these policies that are being implemented. >> jesse: how have we mischaracterized it? and how horrible are these policies that are created to fight climate change? >> well, it has been characterized as a very simple issue. as a carbon dioxide emitted from fossil fuels, some sort of control and the climate. and just flat out is not. sure, humans are influencing the climate, to some extent, but natural climate this -- variability is far from the dominant factor. and they are seeing on extreme weather events as motivating elimination of fossil fuels, which is fairly ludicrous because the warming climate does not necessarily -- there's no evidence that this is leading to worse extreme weather events. we have always had extreme weather. we are currently having extreme weather. and we will have extreme weather in the future, no matter what we do regarding fossil fuels. and so the urgency that is put forward that we have to deal with this issue with all these made-up targets, 1.5 degrees centigrade, whatever is leading us to make hasty decisions that are bad. for example, wind and solar are very bad solutions for our energy supply. and if we would take our time and slowly worked towards improving our energy supply and making it more abundant and cleaner, less expensive, you know, by the end of the 21st century, we could be in a really good place. but we can really mess this up if we destroy our energy infrastructure in the short t term. in thinking we can actually control department. -- control the climate. >> jesse: it is refreshing to hear from a scientist like yourself who is not hiding the data and we need more of that and we look forward to reading your book when it comes out. thank you so much, judith. we really my shot today. i did not want to do it. but i work for a company that mandates it and i have until september 30th to get it done or i'm out. i respect everyone's decision. i really do. but to mandate it is sick. >> jesse: sage was already on thin ice at espn because of the issue of race and the obamas. barack says he is black. sage, who is -- who also has a black father and eat what does white mother said no, he is biracial and that angered barbara walters who was a legend at abc, also owned by disney. >> if they make you choose a race, -- well, you can. barack obama chose black and he is biracial. i'm like, and congratulations to the president. that is his thing. i think that is fascinating considering his -- black that was nowhere to be found. but hey, you do you. i'm going to do me. >> jesse: after that interview, sage was suspended by espn. so she sued claiming liberal employees were allowed to share their beliefs openly. the other side, not. disney refused to let her back on air. the former sportscenter host settled her lawsuit and she joins me here tonight. so sage, the first of all, it is a great honor to interview you. i spent many, many hours watching you host "sportscenter," so thank you for your great work. what was it like behind the scenes when you are feeling so unwelcome at espn disney. >> i was not the only one who felt silenced, who felt scared. i mean, some of us literally would whisper in the corner, even in the bathroom and talk about hey we can't say this too well. i think it was hard because there were other opinions on the other side. they were allowed to be poor boisterous about it. and not just, you know, in the studio or in the green room or the makeup room but on social media, on espn platforms. and i think that is all i ever wanted and that is what the suit was about, it was consistency. one of the rules was make them clear and make sure everyone follows them, not just the people that fit a certain narrative and effort that went on repeatedly for years and here's, i said this a lot in the last couple of weeks because i have had to really reflect on everything and i did not know when enough was enough for me. when it happened and i was suspended and taken off the air and assignments taken away, and then continually punished after apologizing and doing all the things i was supposed to do, i just knew it was enough for me. >> jesse: did you feel ostracized by other anchors, other correspondence at espn? or was this mostly coming down to executives and general counsel? >> i did. but here's what i have learned through 28 years in this business now. you know, a blessing and a curse with social media and all of the technology today. the biggest blessing for me is that i'm finally -- i have finally learned to be okay not being liked. even if they are for reasons that i think are stupid. people won't even have a conversation or who have never even met me, i'm sure you are familiar with it, too. >> jesse: quite familiar. >> it is insane. it is the opposite of what people preach with diversity and equity and tolerance and acceptance and all of those words that everybody throws around, especially corporate america. but then when it is actually time to live it, that was my issue. so i'm actually -- i mean it. it is a blessing. i'm okay now but not being liked and a lot of freedom with that. i was okay with whoever did not like me at work. are not saying it did not hurt and it still does. but there's bigger things. >> jesse: do you think abc, disney, espn are salvageable corporations? and what advice would you give those companies and all of these companies that are grappling with these same issues? >> so that is kind of my why. one of my wise behind taking a stance is because i knew for so many years, to be afraid and to feel silenced despite everyone preaching the opposite that if i don't speak up now, once i was made to apologize and then punish. if i didn't speak up, i thought, josh did not speak up, i thought, shame on me. that is what i'm hoping. no matter how big or small the company, i don't feel this way but honestly, i have three kids. two in college, when in high school or first day of her senior year was today. and i have preached to them about standing up tall and strong and being okay being you no matter what. and so then what is their mom going to do? just hide under the table again because i was afraid. i have done that for years. these boxes, pay attention and are consistent now. but those of us who have a voice and even if you don't have a big platform, we are hypocrites if we don't begin to call this out and try to change it. >> jesse: it is a great message, very inspiring, and you handled the whole situ situation with at of grace and
