do they have what they need for the time being, michael? >> we do. and by and large, the vast majority of people are leaving. cedar key is a special place. we live and work in close quarters with the gulf. so we understand some of the risks. for me, a decision was that my neighbors and the people that are staying will need help. that was more important to me than my immediate safety. i'm going to take every possible precaution. my mom is watching tv right now scared out of her mind that i'm going to be here. we're going to be holed up in a stone church. we're going to do what we can to help the folks that they get themselves in to a predicament. i don't think this is a wise course of action overall. i think people ought to leave. sometimes in life, you have to draw a line in the sand and say this is what i stand for. i'm going to help my neighbors. >> i want to go back to hannah. we talked about the fact that you want to preserve, stay with your business. we get that. are you concerned if this thing is a strong category three, possible a category four, that would get you up and out? >> i do. there are certain checkpoints at which i'll leave. i'm set up high on a hill. the church is high on a hill. you're right. we've never had the amount of water and storm surge that is predicted for this storm. the even great cedar key hurricane of 1896 is half of what is predicted for today. and i live 1 1/2 blocks from the water on either side. the water is the deadly concern here. i promise, at some point, we'll high-tail it out of here. i believe i have a good plan in place to stay and help the folks that just aren't prepared. >> what about you, hannah? how do you achieve the list that you're talking about while you're not president if you're running up against this kind of wall? this is july 26, the homeland security secretary in congress. watch. >> our republican colleagues claim the boreder is open. is it open, mr. secretary? >> no, it is not. >> trace: if alejandro mayorkas keep saying the boreder is not open, we know the borders have been open 32 months, it's hard to get something accomplished. >> that's why he needs to be fired, right? that's why we need to kick joe biden and that office out of office. the fact that the border czar, kamala harris, thinks coming to a tacoria is a border visit is insane to me. stop treating people as an asylum seeker. stop treating the traffickers and treating fentanyl as a weapon of mass deinstruction, that requires no congressional action. it's all steps that the executive branch can take themselves. that's why we need new leadership in this area. that's one of the reasons why i'm running for congress. if your viewers think i'm on the right path and they want more experience on the border than everybody else combined, go to hurdforamerica.com. >> trace: miami mayor, francis suarez has dropped out. he's dropped out. your numbers were similar. is your campaign going forward? >> we're going forward. we're working hard. i've been in the race the least amount of time in a place like new hampshire. i'm tied with nikki haley and vice president pence. both people that have higher name i.d. than i do and spent tens of millions of dollars. so what i'm learning is people want someone to talk about issues of the future and want someone that answers border security. i'm full steam ahead and looking to see my friends along the border and understand the things that are keeping us safe, when they need. >> trace: will hurd, thank you so much. >> thank you. >> trace: why some kids struggling with pandemic learning loss may now have a teacher that is not in their classroom, but instead is thousands of miles away. >> the hardest thing is to come back after months of not doing any work, homework and all of a sudden, you have a lot to make up, everybody has a lot to catch up. m the team mascot, and boy, am i running late. but i've got lead in my foot and spirit in my fingers. woo! ha ha what a hit! and if you have cut rate car insurance the cost to cover that, might tank your season. so, get allstate and be better protected from mayhem... like me. (laughing) woo! ancestry made it really easy to learn about my family's history. finding military information, newspaper articles, how many people were living in the house and where it was, makes me curious and keeps pulling me in and the photos reminding me of what life must have been like for them. finding out new bits of information about the family has been a wonderful experience, it's an important part of understanding who we are. veteran homeowners. if you're on a fixed income, inflation can hit you extra hard, especially if you're using high rate credit cards to take care of your family's expenses. even minimum payments are tough. it's too much and it's time to hit back. with a newday 100 va loan, you can borrow up to 100% of your home's value to pay off those high rate credit cards and other debt. and you can save $500 a month. that's $6,000 a year. >> trace: as kids go back to school, the teachers may not be in the classroom. not because of covid but some districts are stealing with staff shortages so they're turning to virtual teachers. lydia hu is live with more. good afternoon. >> hi, trace. that's right. government data shows almost half of public schools were not fully staffed last year. now some schools are hiring virtual teachers to fill the void. here's what that looks like. this is a middle school classroom. you can see there's a teacher's aide on the left side. the instructor appears virtually. watch. >> let me know in the chat box, do you want to be a gold miner? yes or no to that question. harmony says no. because i want to be a teacher. i love it, harmony. >> the company behind this is called proximity. they have seen demand for virtual teaching services are growing. education week says that proximity learning deployed 295 virtual teachers across the country in the 20-21 school year. in one year, the number nearly tripled to 868 virtual teachers. an estimated payments to proximity are growing, too. data from gov spend that data proximity is up. proximity's core learning position certified phis teachers especially for underserved students. trace, as you can imagine, some parents are concerned about the quality of education. the school district down in charleston, south carolina, it used virtual teachers last year. according to local reports, it's going back to teachers in the classroom this year and rewarding those in-person teachers with bonuses. back to you. >> trace: that's it. i'd be worried as well. thanks, lydia. i want to take your attention back to the map. we're watching hurricane idalia. it is right now a category one hurricane. by landfall, which the national hurricane center center estimates may be in the big bend somewhere around 2:00, 3:00, maybe 4:00 a.m. east coast time. it could be a cat 3 at landfall. it's not really wind they're worried about. it's the storm surge, which could be historic. we have the very latest on this coming up. that's "the story." i'll see you back here for fox news at night. "your world" right now. >> storm surge could reach 8 to 12 feet in some areas. that would be life threatening. >> need to get you and your family, businesses, employees ready now. the time is now. >> people are freaking out obviously. everyone is here to get gas. >> this one looks like it's a biggie. >> a little concern. it's coming fast. >> the last storm it flooded up to that blue railing. so that was the six foot surge. if we get an eight or ten foot surge,
