>> it is pretty disappointing. because somebody voted for you in the past doesn't mean you have earned their vote in the future. and the fact he feels he does not need to show that respect to voters to show up to debate ideas and the current situation even with other candidates i find is disrespectful and disappointing. that just doesn't seem like to me he has the same energy or attitude or motivation this election cycle as he has in the past there could be a variety of reasons for that. i'm sure his current legal situation is one of them. but it is disappointing. >> carley: do you plan to support him in 2024? >> i am open to other cand candidates. i voted for him in 16 and 20 those were difficult decisions based on the opponent in my opinion. it was an easy choice. but he is not the nominee yet. >> you are a life long democrat switching parties registered republican you say you're likely going with child but open to other candidates so what could they say to get you in their camp? >> . >> i'm looking for a candidate who will try to bring us together and really embody to support equality for all and who will stand firm under their beliefs and stand up to democrats when it comes up to the weird gender staff. i don't care what you identify as but who will stand up for the american people and put america first. >> carley: yesterday we had a guest from "the wall street journal" said the debate will go one of three ways. they will attack each other, they will all attack trump, they will attack biden. out of those three scenarios which one do you hope will play out that would be most effective? >> it is unfortunate to know the only latino candidate will not make it on the national stage tonight. it is important every presidential hopeful tonight on the stage understands the latino is the fastest-growing segment and the largest minority voting block in the country. what we want to hear is a united front on economic opportunities and foreign-policy to put america first. joe biden lost 14 percent starting his election and also the fact republicans have the best performance from the midterm election to show that hispanics are taking back the country with another four years of progressive policies. and to see the united from the presidential hopefuls have to reunite them for the america first message. >> todd: speed 12 also talking about american ideals. >> i grew up into a generation where we were taught to celebrate our diversity and differences. so much that we forgot all of the ways all the ways we are the same. as americans. the question before us do we still believe those ideals exist? it is an open question. >> we are all americans facing the same issues. here is a tough assignment which issue does each candidate need to drive home to everyone so this time tomorrow we say they win the debate? >> one that all candidates need to hear off the top as the economy. that point of diversity is about unity in the country and a reflection of people's desires regardless of identity and those of the mixed-race background and it makes authenticity. vivek ramaswamy has a story to talk about his economic policy but also positions on chi china, indo pacific and other areas when it comes to foreign-policy i would like to hear that from him i think the people into. but in the case of mike pence he has to make a case from coming being a vice president to move forward by he would step into the role and what he would do similar to or different than his predecessor and of course president biden. nikki haley, what does she have? a lot of foreign-policy is a former ambassador that's another spot for her governor chris christie is a tough assignment he is there to stop donald trump but he is not on the stage. jim scott comes from the senate with a great story to tell. but what is he is vision for the future and how does he govern and pull people together? a couple months ago nobody even knew who he was. there he is number two. also it is fascinating how they are positioning themselves in different ways. tim scott the optimist and ron desantis saying still it is a two-person race and i am the main guy. what is the most interesting strategy that could pay off the most? >> a couple of things. he could not be more relaxed or prepared. he is built for this. doing this so often, so much and i believe him. number two is that vivek ramaswamy has come out with policy statements that has been wacky he had to clarify about 9/11 and who was on the planes. i have question about the january 6 crowd. and then to give up taiwan 2028. so with foreign policy where nikki haley could score some points. also bringing up that tim scott joined me on the radio yesterday and could not be more relaxed. what would be great for him if they take a shot but have you met him? does anybody want to take a shot at tim scott? he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, a great personal story. i'm curious how this will play out. todd come you can appreciate this this reminds me of game number one of a seven-game series everybody has a different idea and scenario and then just to play. >> todd: an amazing have it thinking you would interview someone else and then getting tim scott instead. thank you. the mainstream media gearing up for tonight's debate. >> ethics does not seem to be a stumbling block for a couple of candidates. >> it's hard to imagine a scenario where donald trump doesn't become the republican nominee. >> it suggests a lot of people from iowa going to hell. >> carley: look at the latest scandals or that he still on the second vacation this month and joe concha is here to break that down coming up, next. ♪ ♪ >> todd: the media's negative coverage of top candidates mirror the coverage of the 2016 election. tonight's primary debate already has them talking. >> ethics does not seem to be a stumbling block for this crop of republican candidates. >> ron desantis will literally be center stage tomorrow night as he has sort of these lines that he will try go to to kind of own the headline. >> but when the big lights hit you and people start punching you in the head, sometimes those plans go out the window. is he going to get punched punched a bunch. >> hard to imagine a scenario where donald trump doesn't become the republican nominee. >> what those numbers suggest is that a whole lot of people in iowa are going to hell. >> fox news contributor and columnist for the messenger joe concha joins me now. joe, on top of that negative coverage that we just played, some of it negative. what do you make of the fact that a lot of really serious mistakes that president biden have recently made like comparing them the maui wildfires to a kitchen fire, that received very little coverage at all. what do you make of this disparity and how it will impact 2024? >> carley, this isn't hyperbole what we witnessed from the president of the united states in maui in terms of his words, broaching a small fire that happened in his kitchen 20 years ago talking about how he almost lost his corvette and cat, when that story had been completely and totally debunked at the time and now, that was one of the worst moments you will see of any presidency in a time of crisis or disaster. and we barely saw any coverage or outrage around that. if this was george w. bush and katrina, trust me, that ended basically that president's presidency with george w. bush and what we're seeing here as far as the complete noncoverage of joe biden and the way he acted towards maui and the fact that he is now back on vacation again after spending a couple hours there, that's a whole bowl of wrong. meanwhile the coverage has been almost entirely negative towards not just the frontrunner and donald trump on the republican side but all the candidates, every interview you see on other networks it's like watching a democratic activist or politician debate the person they are interviewing instead of asking solid, germane, relevant questions around the economy, crime, border, energy independence, monetary policy, foreign policy. and that's the thing here. one side is going to get almost completely negative coverage. the other side won't get almost any coverage when they screw up or coverage that basically is very hospitable instead of hostile. >> todd: you and carley mentioned what joe biden said in maui. let's take a look at that along with some other gaffes recently. watch. >> and joan shin gang. forgive me, shenga -- i want to say one thing to your children. i know some really great ice cream places around here.
