>> we don't have any flash flooding problems so far, just flooding problems in general from the rain. all of your streets are inaccessible, there is no way to get in or out of palm springs, there is major flooding, it is mostly from the constant pouring of rain it has not stopped since about 1 p.m. mark: >> what kind of damage are you seeing. >> a bit i did owe difficult to tell, you can see several streets washed out. just where the wash comes down and passes over the street. right now we're working on figuring out you to we'll be able to respond in morning and really in morning, 1 the sun comes out we'll really assess the damage and biggest thing will be how to get the roads open quickly. >> what did emergency calls are your 911 responders having to go out and you know deal with people who are stuck or you know trapped in the flood waters? >> yes. at-this-point we have two swift water rescues we're well eche equipped, we have oakland swift water rescue team helping us we're well prepared for any scenario, we're encouraging people to stay inside, and never get on the road unless they absolutely have to, to avoid the problem, i was on road with the ceo of medical center here, they are going well there. >> what about wind, there were fears that trees might come down and power lines, have you had those problems? >> we had some outages they have been remedies quickly. that is fantastic. i have not heard about any trees going down. at least from where i am located which is a windier area of palm springs, it has not been too bad -- not been too bad.. >> so, how do you feel overall, it sounds like other than some street flooding, you seem to be handling it well there in palm springs? >> we're very fortunate there was some flooding in 2019, and that has been our saving br grace this time, we know how to be prepareed and we know the weak areas, we have been preparing all week for that, we have taken every precaution we can, i'm proud of our city manager and our public staif safety team. >> how many people do you think actually left town before that storm? traveling northward tropical storm hilary crossed border from baja california this afternoon, leaving at least one death and wide widespread damage, we check in with fox weather meteorologist marissa torres. >> we have all of tropical storm hilary within the state of california. this includes the center, first time since 1997. we're talking about is incredibly rare. it is not unprecedented. i want to highlight the flash flood concerns we have coming from southern california to the l.a. area. imperial county today orange county, l.a. county now further to the north san bernardino also included. hearing about some arrest -- water rescues in l.a. county, the roads are floods or will be in the flash flood son scenario, the rain big story, with a lot of moisture, areas are not used to dealing with up to 5 inches of rain, you and hurricane force winds out in back mountain california, 8484 miles per hour. but you see wins above 70 to 84. the highest you go in elevation, you are going through the valleys and areas, with the, aggressive wind it could make it a little bit worse, could still see power outages there are 30 thousand without power at this time and they are also dealing with rain. right now out of l.a. the rain totals, palm springs jumped quite a bit. 2.58 inches, and san diego 1.6 and el centro .71, it depends on where you are, we're seeing the desert areas that are typically the leeward side of the mountains getting all of the rain that is coachella to palm springs. these are some top rain totals today, coming out of california and nevada with top places 6 inches so far out of cali. mount laguna with 5 inches. 6 inches is a lot no matter where you. in florida sure they can handle it better but they would see flooding. we have a lot of concern into the night, this is the rain still to come. heading to tomorrow, many of you from south to north like san diego into l.a., by tomorrow morning, you should see the sun comeback out, it will feel like home again, but you have to get through the overnight there is potential some areas in northern los angeles county could pick un3 to 5 inches -- up 3 to 5 ins of rain, the rain will head from south to north. tropical storm hilary will continue to weaken it will take the moisture with it to nevada. to idaho and montana. this is working its way across the high pressure ridge, you could get some moisture in south dakota. the bulk will be -- local, thissa 8:00 pacific time, the circulation, went 24 hours it will be a remnant profit tropical center. it continues to filter out of california away from nevada, and further into northern portioning of california and exits nevada tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow 4 p.m., you are dry in san diego, and ba bakersfield and l.a. and a miss in phoenix. it has been fun funneled to one area. flash flood concerns will continue to be a problem tonight. the ridge of high pressure almost like train tracks, you can see moisture getting funneled throug boise to billings to areas ofs dakotas, there are flood concerns in those areas this flood warning across southern california, in las vegas with a flood watches and even into areas of eastern washington. and western idaho. these are also areas that need the rain. they have tr drought conditions, they have wildfires in oregon right now and washington, we need the rain here, we could use a little less down here, it has already proven to be quite dangerous, f you have so much moisture to work with. really concerned for folks into the night across areas of southern california including l.a. county, you can stay home, you are best to do so. many folks are first responders or working front lines, there was an earthquake epicenter to the south of ojai today. you had one more thing to juggle, it seems like not a lot of significant damage out of that, earthquake but there are active water rescues in southern california. >> as darkness falls, the danger i guess increases, you can't look outside of the window and see what the creek is doing. it will be scary for those folks overnight. >> absolutely. you congress.you can't even judw deep water is in light of day, you talk about the passes and interstates i-5 and i-8, they are navigating through rocky elevated terrain. we have mudslides and concerns with rock falls and that. debris flows, you can't see how deep it is. the best way to to err on side of caution, make sure you are not a part of the problem allow the rescue workers to get out there and help the folks who need it. >> all right marisa thank you. >> quite a night in southern california. maris is torres. joining us now mayor of palm springs grace garner, mayor garner, i know you have some mountains on the edge of y community any flash flooding problems so far? >> we don't have any flash flooding problems so far, just flooding problems in general from the rain. all of your streets are inaccessible, there is no way to get in or out of palm springs, there is major flooding, it is mostly from the constant pouring of rain it has not stopped since about 1 p.m. mark: >> what kind of damage are you seeing. >> a bit i did owe difficult to tell, you can see several streets washed out. just where the wash comes down and passes over the street. right now we're working on figuring out you to we'll be able to respond in morning and really in morning, 1 the sun comes out we'll really assess the damage and biggest thing will be how to get the roads open quickly. >> what did emergency calls are your 911 responders having to go out and you know deal with people who are stuck or you know trapped in the flood waters? >> yes. at-this-point we have two swift water rescues we're well eche equipped, we have oakland swift water rescue team helping us we're well prepared for any scenario, we're encouraging people to stay inside, and never get on the road unless they absolutely have to, to avoid the problem, i was on road with the ceo of medical center here, they are going well there. >> what about wind, there were fears that trees might come down and power lines, have you had those problems? >> we had some outages they have been remedies quickly. that is fantastic. i have not heard about any trees going down. at least from where i am located which is a windier area of palm springs, it has not been too bad -- not been too bad.. >> so, how do you feel overall, it sounds like other than some street flooding, you seem to be handling it well there in palm springs? >> we're very fortunate there was some flooding in 2019, and that has been our saving br grace this time, we know how to be prepareed and we know the weak areas, we have been preparing all week for that, we have taken every precaution we can, i'm proud of our city manager and our public staif safety team. >> how many people do you think actually left town before that storm? testify in charges were brought. >> all avenues to his father and not prosecuting hunter for the same it would mean criminal liability for joe biden it department of justice wanted to get to the bottom of this vast criminal conspiracy involving joe biden, they would say to hunter, your only way out of changes toy -- to provide unpredacked testimony about your father joe biden as the big guy.
