weaken into a tropical storm when it makes landfall in california tomorrow but still, officials are warning millions of people the storm's path do not take it lightly. arthel: preparations are already underway in the region. normally dry areas that could see several inches of rain. california is not used to tropical storm's. the last one to hit the state was in 1939. the l.a. county sheriff's department is doing all it can to get people ready. >> together it we are working to perform and prepare the community with this impending or pending storm. we hope the storm does not cause any damage. and more importantly there is no loss of life. but we will prepare for worst-case scenario. >> father mother meteorologist adam klotz is adam, we are always hoping it's not as bad as originally predicted, how's it looking now? >> was never far from home is to read it never far from home i am always going back to the projects in which i grew up. a lot of my family and friends still live there. the irony is microsoft office is located less than a mile away from the project in which i grew up. and it is two different worlds the project and working at microsoft, working on billion-dollar deals and projects. arthel: it's amazing i love your accomplishments indeed. so what conversations and consequential actions would you like this book to precipitate questioner. >> resigned wrote the book one of my former clients approach was it bruce you need to write a book. to inspire people in your community because instead of wanting to be an actor or an entertainer or an athlete, you paved a different way they need to see that coming from the projects in which you came there other options available. it's about inspiring those people in urban cities but as well as rural america. rural america lacks the resources necessary with your white or black. it's about trying to create an equal playing field for everyone and to inspire those who are privilege forgiven in proximity to my story with proximity that typically breeds empathy. with empathy you get the support you need to change things. >> your story is an american story. let's take a look at some studies while we talk here. showing how teens are spending less face time with their friends the increase in high school students who experience persistent sadness and hopelessness appeared you already talked about who this book is for. it is for many people. what would you hope they take away? >> i hope they look at my career and relate my story and my message to them as i am you. and you are me. if i can do it, so can you and my expectation as they can do a better job that i can do. but during my journey here at microsoft is about working with for example the mayor of new york city in the summer youth program for just exposing them to things they ordinarily would not be exposed to it we are working with new york city to expose them to gaming, technology, hopefully they can develop the next technology that will service the world they will be the next game developer it's about really exposing people give them the resource they need they can reach their potential be great. arthel: i love that. i am you and you are me. that is a lesson that goes beyond learning about gaming and dreaming the real potential of your god-given talent. it is about showing compassion toward others but i am you you are me we are not that different at the end of the debris. >> not at all. not at all. it is the same message in terms of those in rural america pete i am you and you are me you have some of the same obstacles and challenges that we have it. for example you talk about broadband we talk about affordable broadband in urban community. but it rural community they do not have the infrastructure. we all need to band together rural and urban to try to deal the issue so we can all have equal playing ground in tools necessary to help us be great. >> in that equal playing ground is very, very important to success. >> absolute there's a question about it. it is about giving everyone who's starting at the same yard line the 1 yard line because others are starting at the 50 were starting at the one. it is fatigue. many of us quit on that journey. michael is not to leave any generation behind. we are leaving powerful people behind it. the only difference between someone who is privileged or not is have the resources those do not absolutely. chris bruce is your mother is still living?
