the inner cities? after all violence is affecting black americans the most. or democrats revisiting they slavish devotion to the teacher's unions who are adamantly opposed to school choice? america, specially minorities stuck in bad public schools now have no options. or, is biden finally going to let up on the climate madness and brings the cost of energy down? well, the answer to all of the above is no, no, and no. now, why would democrats agree to any of that when they could just call republicans racist? >> seen donald trump use a word that rhymes with racial epitaph and that's been adapted -- adopted on extremist sites to refer to blacks. >> this week he used a word that rhymes with the n word in one of his posts. >> laura: okay. they won't even say the word. the word is like rigged election. rigger. does that mean going forward no one should use the phrase trigger warning either? if that's the case what are liberals going to do? and remember the democrats can always count on the press to help fan the flames of racial division as well. because, if one whacko threatens one judge who happens to be black. then the press is going to say essentially all trump supporters are racist, too. eugene robinson of "the washington post" writing that it was always just a matter of time before threats against the public officials holding trump accountable became explicitly violent and racist. now, why was it just a matter of time because robinson's warped thinking supporting trump is akin to supporting cross burning. that's just disgusting. they never had such concerns about kavanaugh when he was threatened. and when these cynical ploys don't work. other pressure gas pick up the slack trying to argue for a type of self-segregation or in a fact the creation of black states. the well-known progressive charles blow argues for greater black power through migration. but he doesn't seem to understand why black migration southward has already occurred because, like other americans, black americans are moving to greener pastures or i said say redder pastures where crime is intolerated and the economy is actually vibrant. >> i believe that if black people simply returned to the south, they could significantly increase their own political power, which has the potential to not only up end the politics of that region but also of the country as a whole. there is no way to truly have power in the country if you do not have access to state power. >> laura: so crowd all black people into one state? i don't understand this argument at all. as i said, black americans are already migrating southward. but, as a liberal, mr. blow thinks state measures such as reparations, teaching of crt and higher taxes would help black americans. of course, we are already seeing though, aren't we, where that path leads. in states like california. they are on the press pits of doing some type of reparations and it's all a disaster there. and, of course, mr. be blow imps anybody who takes issue with the ideas is a racist. >> people freak out when i say i believe that some states should be majority black. but i always ask them this question. why are you not freaking out that every state but hawaii is at least a plurality white and that there are seven or eight states where 90 plus percent of the population is majority white? >> laura: first of all, people aren't calling for majority white states. that's one reason, charles. of course all of this rhetoric encourages more separation of the races and less integration. people actually getting along. getting to know each other. now, this is a sentiment we have heard before though. a new york city council member, this was a few years ago, actually celebrated when he lost white residents. >> i have the distinct honor to be able to come before you and say i actually lost white population in my community. law.[laughter] [applause] i lost them. they left. if you see one or two or three or four or five whites in my neighborhood, they are parsing through. >> laura: that's what militant radicals actually think. they believe that their own racism is justified. they are urging their young people to stay separate. don't trust white people because, of course, white people, they believe are instinctively racist. just like the entire law enforcement when cops are minorities themselves. >> the genesis of back the blue came out as a sort of corrective conservative response to the black lives matter movement. there is an implicit racial and racist thread that runs through this sort of confederacy of people. >> right. >> laura: oh my god. lord help that woman. and, you know what else is racist? the broken windows theory of policing and the idea that you actually lock criminals up. >> giuliani lost his first race for mayor in new york but he succeeded the second time around after embracing some of the ugliest, most demagogue elk racist politics donald trump. as mayor giuliani saw incredible surveillance policing of black and brown new yorkers. the truth is everyone, including african-americans had a better quality of life in new york when rudy was mayor. it's not racist to say that things were safer things were safer. white liberals claiming that roux rudy's policies were racist. they are lying. it's not racist it's common sense. common sense is out the window with democrats especially where black voters are concerned. with the horrid record on the economy, the border, crime. all biden's boosters can do now is dangle a shiny racial division object in front of african-americans. imagine having such little respect for the intelligence of your own base. >> laura: joining me now is 2024 republican presidential candidate vivek ramaswamy. vivek, i think the democrats are sensing that their lock on the black vote may be, you know, breaking, even "the washington post" is writing about a drop in turnout potentially among black voters, especially those who are young and male. also this focus group that politico did this week, it was a small focus group. the title of this piece is pathetic. voters of color slam biden's performance on the economy. six in 10 saying they are not satisfied with his job and handling the economy. how significant is this? >> i think this is a very significant opportunity, laura. if the republican party has the good sense to step up and seize it. i saw this firsthand myself. i visited the south side of chicago just a couple of months ago. i also went to kensington in the middle of philadelphia. i will tell you, laura, it is not what you expect. i have never been in a room, perhaps more ardently pro-border wall and pro-military on the border than the group of a predominantly black audience on the south side of chicago because they are turning a local high school, south shore high school into encampment for migrants who are getting treated better than pima community. and so i think this is a real opportunity for us to say the america first movement stands for yes, all americans. and if we stand on that principle to say that we will put the interest of the citizens of this nation first, regardless urban or suburban, black or white, we stand for the interest of our citizens over those reporting into zelenskyy or whoever, half way around the world. i think that's actually a very powerful message that transcends partisan boundaries and if i'm the nominee, laura, as i expect and hope to be, we will bring along voters of diverse shades of melanin in droves and win this election in a landslide. >> laura: as we said in the open of the show, like the democrats only have the politics of racial division. and so that's why you have the -- you know, the commentators coming out and saying well, we need black majority states in the united states. you know, missing the fact that blacks are already moving back to the south because it's a better economy. and now vivek, conservatives are pushing back against this politics of racial division, progressive insurance, has been sued by america first legal for patently unlawful racism by offering $25,000 grants to help black owned businesses buy vehicles but barring white, asian, latino and other entrepreneurs from applying. >> this is part of the corporate scam you have been trying to he expose. >> it is. you know, it's almost ironic, laura. i'm hearing you say it progressive insurance. almost as if you tried to put it in the name. and turning it into a branding exercise. the reality is these are civil rights violations hiding in plain sight. i know colorblindness is racist left. i reject that narrative. colorblind a meritocracy is part of what it means to be an american. you and i have different shades of mellane anyone. you and i are different genders. so what? our diversity is meaningless unless there is something greater that unites us across that diversity. and i think this is our moment, not just as conservatives but as americans to reawaken what actually unites us across those different shades of melanin. that's what makes us american. i will tell you, laura, i think the people, regardless of their skin color, are really hungry for that in this country. >> laura: i agree. >> a lot of americans, white and black alike have been duped. they understand the economy is in the toilet and their experience of it is no different just because they are fed the politics of racial division. if we stand up and speak the truth, we end up winning. >> laura: well, you just got a lot of kudos online from elon musk who seems to be perhaps moving away, maybe, from desantis and toward you. very quickly your reaction on that and then i have one more question for you. >> look, i think elon is an excellent example of what he did at twitter is a good example of what i want to do to the administrative state. take out 75% of the dead weight cost. improve the actual experience of what it's supposed to do. and at the same time, i love the way he released the twitter files. i will release the state action files. any time a bureaucrat has pressured a private company plush it for the world see and he put a x through twitter i will put an x on the administrative state. that's where i'm at on common tactics with elon federal bureaucracy. >> laura: i love it. bill barr said something yesterday about the trump indictments. watch. >> the federal cases are legitimate. if there's a chance to get it resolved before the election, it should be because the american people should know, these are crimes that are potential crimes volume moral turpitude. the chances are that he will be convicted on some counts. >> laura: vivek? >> if you are bringing hundreds of counts across four different cases probability game of just shooting darts and seeing what sticks. laura, this sets an awful precedent in this country. general rule of thumb, if you are going to indict a former u.s. president, who is running for president in the middle of an election, at least don't make it novel legal theories that have never been tested in court. and, yet, that's exactly what's the case here in all four of these cases, that is just shameful, laura, i'm saying this as somebody who -- there is new polls in the last 48 hours putting knee at second place in this race. it would be easier for me if donald trump were eliminated from competition. that's not how i want to win. that is not right because that's not the way we do things in the united states. and, you know, i do think we have an establishment that spans both political parties, that is fundamentally hostile to one man who happens to be one of my opponents in this primary. but i stand on the side of justice when i say i will stay true it my commitment to pardon trump on day one unambiguously. and more importantly call on biden and the department of justice to drop these prosecutions in the meantime. >> laura: vivek, we will see you next week at the debate. great to see you. thanks so much. ♪ >> laura: why did the white house hide the fact that the first son and his family moved into the white house at one point? this is a two-week period after hunter agreed to the government's sweeping plea deal. he, his wife, and son were encamped at 160 1600 pennsylvana avenue. it turns out it wasn't just the public kept in the dark. senior biden aides also had no idea hunter was there the younger biden's stay was a social whirlwind. he attended the glitzy state dinner for the indian prime minister. also attended by the a.g. merrick garland along with the white house's july 4th extravaganza. remember the balcony shots. and the angle finds it mega odd that when the secret service revealed that cocaine was discovered in the west wing, the white house failed to mention that hunter had, in fact, been living there at the time. joining me now, charlie hurt, "washington times" opinion editor and fox news contributor. all right, charlie, the post is also saying that on the day that hunter was set to enter the plea deal, white house aides intentionally left space in the president's schedule so he could monitor the case. charlie, i thought it was all hands off. we don't get involved in what your son is going through. i can't keep up with the lines they are using. >> exactly. and i have to say that last thing to me is the most shocking part of that entire story. we have sort of come to sort of expect the white house to do things -- to sort of play hide-and-seek with information. and the fact that they didn't reveal the fact that hunter biden even to top officials was living at the white house for two weeks almost doesn't even surprise me anymore. but the fact that they cleared the president's desk, cleared his schedule for the day that he was supposed to appear in court, it's like so, we don't know who is running the country. we don't know who is making decisions. we don't know who is sending out tweets that are supposedly being sent by the president. we don't know -- you know, what his schedule is, what he is doing on a day-to-day basis, and how much of his time is invested in worrying about the legal woes of his son. and it's kind of -- you know, we have almost sort of gotten used to it but it should still be shocking to us that we don't know what the president is doing on a regular basis and to what degree he is completely preoccupied with this disaster that is his -- that is the first son. >> laura: now, "the washington post" actually reported yesterday that at this point the probe into hunter biden appears unlikely to result in separate criminal charges. but fbi officials are aggressively pursuing the investigation, charlie. how -- there is no movement on this case. there has been no evidence of any movement on this case. but they keep saying oh, there -- we're really aggressively on this. what is that? >> yeah. so, of course, this is the whole purpose of setting up a special prosecutor. not that i think that we should have a special prosecutor in this case. but, the idea that you're going to trust the department of justice and the fbi, clean-up this administration has so thoroughly weaponized, to use against a political opponents, the idea that they are going to accurately and fully investigate what is clearly crimes, crimes that would get any normal american arrested and put in jail, the idea that they're -- we can trust them to do this in this administration, no way possible. >> laura: what about the hunter biden attorneys bowing out? three from watkins said bye-bye. they might be witnesses, apparently. >> so, you know, if anybody is wondering what a disaster that plea deal falling apart was, this is -- this explains it all. because the whole reason that the attorneys claim that they can't stay with the case is because they might be called as witnesses in the collapse of the crooked plea deal. that tells you about all you need to know going on with this case. >> charlie, thank you. up next the angle takes the pulse of the nation. how is that white house sell job on bidenomics going. other news for joe and the gang. why doesn't new hampshire seem to like chris christie. stay there. salonpas lidocaine flex. a super thin, flexible patch with maximum otc strength lidocaine that contours to the body to relieve pain right where it hurts. and did we mention, it really, really sticks? just try to coast to victory by talking about trump's indictment and abortion? joining me now is matt tourry and ned ryun founder and ceo of american majority. ned, he says he's for the working class. but the working class is clearly not buying what he's selling. how much of an opportunity is this for the republican nominee, whoever it is? >> well, i think it was james carville that said, what: 20, 30 years ago, it's the economy, stupid. so hopefully republicans aren't stupid and actually talk about the economy because the average american family is paying over $700 more a month for food, gas, basic expenses than they were two years ago. if you look at a family that's making 100,000. that's about 8.4% in inflation that they're paying and not seeing their lives get better. so, republicans would do well to point out that bidenomics is a complete and total failure. it has made americans lives worse on every level. i think the other thing that's staggering about the bidenomics, laura, is. this. we have now hit a trillion dollars in credit card debt with americans and we're seeing an increase in emergency withdrawals from 401(k) accounts. neither of those two are good are to the economic health of this country. >> laura: matt, when you think about just how the average person struggles today, you wonder how much talk about the 2020 election and whether you really want arizona or wisconsin, i get that people are upset about the 2020 election, but people want to talk about how we're going to get the price of gas down and when food is coming down. that's what they want answers to. do you agree on that? >> well, they do, laura. and there is so much clutter out there right now. because so much of support media that the democrats have, which is most of the media, is just focused completely on the trump indictments. they ignore for the most part the biden situation. did just do a poll 50 hers of americans can't connect the dots between hunter biden and joe biden. when it comes to the economy, they are hurting. but where the republicans need to get smart is they probably need to do a better job to create the causal relationship between biden policies and how that's affecting their own personal wallet. because, oftentimes people say well, the economy is bad. but it was terrible, you know, after the pandemic with trump and biden has tried to do things. and then, of course, they are going to see this stuff from the media that is going to spin things saying it's getting better. >> laura: it's not working though. >> you and i really know they are going to double down come next year. you will start hearing everything is rosy. to a person that doesn't have a penny in their pocket they may not buy that it's rosy. >> laura: i don't think they are those cussed on 2020. gas being over $4 a gallon in some jurisdictions. new polling is showing that chris christie fashions himself as the great trump layer is that he has moved ahead of desantis in new hampshire. now he is at 9 %. desantis is 8%. mollie hemingway wrote a piece the other day saying everybody hates chris christie. but, apparently at least some people in new hampshire do not. ned. what's going on here? >> well, that's all well and good that he is at 9%. >> yea for him. trump is at 49% in the same poll. which means it's not really a race, laura. so i guess, you know, if you are getting -- if you are running for second, good for christie. that's not the point. the point is to actually win. and he is getting trounced by trump right now. so, it means nothing. it means he is the king of the dwarfs. and trump is still the political giant in every state right now that we're seeing in the early states and obviously in the national polls. so yea for chris christie in his little small triumph in beating out ron desantis by one point in new hampshire right now. >> laura: yeah. mr. jared boyd wrote that piece, not mollie. matt, really quickly on this. when you see this debate next week, the republicans on stage, they're going to try to take out, perhaps, vivek, who we just interviewed, i mean, it's kind of taking the nation by storm. is focusing on him going to be a good tactic for someone like desantis? >> no, it's idiotic. that man that you just had on your show is dynamic. i think attacking him, particularly since he has come out in favor of trying to help trump and support trump is going to be a big disaster for desantis if he decides to do it. i would advise against it. >> laura: matt and ned, thank you both so much. a professional female golfer plays the sport pregnant. so what caused the uproar among so-called golf journalists? the inner cities? after all violence is affecting black americans the most. or democrats revisiting they slavish devotion to the teacher's unions who are adamantly opposed to school choice? america, specially minorities stuck in bad public schools now have no options. or, is biden finally going to let up on the climate madness and brings the cost of energy down? well, the answer to all of the above is no, no, and no. now, why would democrats agree to any of that when they could just call republicans racist? >> seen donald trump use a word that rhymes with racial epitaph and that's been adapted -- adopted on extremist sites to refer to blacks. >> this week he used a word that rhymes with the n word in one of his posts. >> laura: okay. they won't even say the word. the word is like rigged election. rigger. does that mean going forward no one should use the phrase trigger warning either? if that's the case what are liberals going to do? and remember the democrats can always count on the press to help fan the flames of racial division as well. because, if one whacko threatens one judge who happens to be black. then the press is going to say essentially all trump supporters are racist, too. eugene robinson of "the washington post" writing that it was always just a matter of time before threats against the public officials holding trump accountable became explicitly violent and racist. now, why was it just a matter of time because robinson's warped thinking supporting trump is akin to supporting cross burning. that's just disgusting. they never had such concerns about kavanaugh when he was threatened. and when these cynical ploys don't work. other pressure gas pick up the slack trying to argue for a type of self-segregation or in a fact the creation of black states. the well-known progressive charles blow argues for greater black power through migration. but he doesn't seem to understand why black migration southward has already occurred because, like other americans, black americans are moving to greener pastures or i said say redder pastures where crime is intolerated and the economy is actually vibrant. >> i believe that if black people simply returned to the south, they could significantly increase their own political power, which has the potential to not only up end the politics of that region but also of the country as a whole. there is no way to truly have power in the country if you do not have access to state power. >> laura: so crowd all black people into one state? i don't understand this argument at all. as i said, black americans are already migrating southward. but, as a liberal, mr. blow thinks state measures such as reparations, teaching of crt and higher taxes would help black americans. of course, we are already seeing though, aren't we, where that path leads. in states like california. they are on the press pits of doing some type of reparations and it's all a disaster there. and, of course, mr. be blow imps anybody who takes issue with the ideas is a racist. >> people freak out when i say i believe that some states should be majority black. but i always ask them this question. why are you not freaking out that every state but hawaii is at least a plurality white and that there are seven or eight states where 90 plus percent of the population is majority white? >> laura: first of all, people aren't calling for majority white states. that's one reason, charles. of course all of this rhetoric encourages more separation of the races and less integration. people actually getting along. getting to know each other. now, this is a sentiment we have heard before though. a new york city council member, this was a few years ago, actually celebrated when he lost white residents. >> i have the distinct honor to be able to come before you and say i actually lost white population in my community. law.[laughter] [applause] i lost them. they left. if you see one or two or three or four or five whites in my neighborhood, they are parsing through. >> laura: that's what militant radicals actually think. they believe that their own racism is justified. they are urging their young people to stay separate. don't trust white people because, of course, white people, they believe are instinctively racist. just like the entire law enforcement when cops are minorities themselves. >> the genesis of back the blue came out as a sort of corrective conservative response to the black lives matter movement. there is an implicit racial and racist thread that runs through this sort of confederacy of people. >> right. >> laura: oh my god. lord help that woman. and, you know what else is racist? the broken windows theory of policing and the idea that you actually lock criminals up. >> giuliani lost his first race for mayor in new york but he succeeded the second time around after embracing some of the ugliest, most demagogue elk racist politics donald trump. as mayor giuliani saw incredible surveillance policing of black and brown new yorkers. the truth is everyone, including african-americans had a better quality of life in new york when rudy was mayor. it's not racist to say that things were safer things were safer. white liberals claiming that roux rudy's policies were racist. they are lying. it's not racist it's common sense. common sense is out the window with democrats especially where black voters are concerned. with the horrid record on the economy, the border, crime. all biden's boosters can do now is dangle a shiny racial division object in front of african-americans. imagine having such little respect for the intelligence of your own base. >> laura: joining me now is 2024 republican presidential candidate vivek ramaswamy. vivek, i think the democrats are sensing that their lock on the black vote may be, you know, breaking, even "the washington post" is writing about a drop in turnout potentially among black voters, especially those who are young and male. also this focus group that politico did this week, it was a small focus group. the title of this piece is pathetic. voters of color slam biden's performance on the economy. six in 10 saying they are not satisfied with his job and handling the economy. how significant is this? >> i think this is a very significant opportunity, laura. if the republican party has the good sense to step up and seize it. i saw this firsthand myself. i visited the south side of chicago just a couple of months ago. i also went to kensington in the middle of philadelphia. i will tell you, laura, it is not what you expect. i have never been in a room, perhaps more ardently pro-border wall and pro-military on the border than the group of a predominantly black audience on the south side of chicago because they are turning a local high school, south shore high school into encampment for migrants who are getting treated better than pima community. and so i think this is a real opportunity for us to say the america first movement stands for yes, all americans. and if we stand on that principle to say that we will put the interest of the citizens of this nation first, regardless urban or suburban, black or white, we stand for the interest of our citizens over those reporting into zelenskyy or whoever, half way around the world. i think that's actually a very powerful message that transcends partisan boundaries and if i'm the nominee, laura, as i expect and hope to be, we will bring along voters of diverse shades of melanin in droves and win this election in a landslide. >> laura: as we said in the open of the show, like the democrats only have the politics of racial division. and so that's why you have the -- you know, the commentators coming out and saying well, we need black majority states in the united states. you know, missing the fact that blacks are already moving back to the south because it's a better economy. and now vivek, conservatives are pushing back against this politics of racial division, progressive insurance, has been sued by america first legal for patently unlawful racism by offering $25,000 grants to help black owned businesses buy vehicles but barring white, asian, latino and other entrepreneurs from applying. >> this is part of the corporate scam you have been trying to he expose. >> it is. you know, it's almost ironic, laura. i'm hearing you say it progressive insurance. almost as if you tried to put it in the name. and turning it into a branding exercise. the reality is these are civil rights violations hiding in plain sight. i know colorblindness is racist left. i reject that narrative. colorblind a meritocracy is part of what it means to be an american. you and i have different shades of mellane anyone. you and i are different genders. so what? our diversity is meaningless unless there is something greater that unites us across that diversity. and i think this is our moment, not just as conservatives but as americans to reawaken what actually unites us across those different shades of melanin. that's what makes us american. i will tell you, laura, i think the people, regardless of their skin color, are really hungry for that in this country. >> laura: i agree. >> a lot of americans, white and black alike have been duped. they understand the economy is in the toilet and their experience of it is no different just because they are fed the politics of racial division. if we stand up and speak the truth, we end up winning. >> laura: well, you just got a lot of kudos online from elon musk who seems to be perhaps moving away, maybe, from desantis and toward you. very quickly your reaction on that and then i have one more question for you. >> look, i think elon is an excellent example of what he did at twitter is a good example of what i want to do to the administrative state. take out 75% of the dead weight cost. improve the actual experience of what it's supposed to do. and at the same time, i love the way he released the twitter files. i will release the state action files. any time a bureaucrat has pressured a private company plush it for the world see and he put a x through twitter i will put an x on the administrative state. that's where i'm at on common tactics with elon federal bureaucracy. >> laura: i love it. bill barr said something yesterday about the trump indictments. watch. >> the federal cases are legitimate. if there's a chance to get it resolved before the election, it should be because the american people should know, these are crimes that are potential crimes volume moral turpitude. the chances are that he will be convicted on some counts. >> laura: vivek? >> if you are bringing hundreds of counts across four different cases probability game of just shooting darts and seeing what sticks. laura, this sets an awful precedent in this country. general rule of thumb, if you are going to indict a former u.s. president, who is running for president in the middle of an election, at least don't make it novel legal theories that have never been tested in court. and, yet, that's exactly what's the case here in all four of these cases, that is just shameful, laura, i'm saying this as somebody who -- there is new polls in the last 48 hours putting knee at second place in this race. it would be easier for me if donald trump were eliminated from competition. that's not how i want to win. that is not right because that's not the way we do things in the united states. and, you know, i do think we have an establishment that spans both political parties, that is fundamentally hostile to one man who happens to be one of my opponents in this primary. but i stand on the side of justice when i say i will stay true it my commitment to pardon trump on day one unambiguously. and more importantly call on biden and the department of justice to drop these prosecutions in the meantime. >> laura: vivek, we will see you next week at the debate. great to see you. thanks so much. ♪ >> laura: why did the white house hide the fact that the first son and his family moved into the white house at one point? this is a two-week period after hunter agreed to the government's sweeping plea deal. he, his wife, and son were encamped at 160 1600 pennsylvana avenue. it turns out it wasn't just the public kept in the dark. senior biden aides also had no idea hunter was there the younger biden's stay was a social whirlwind. he attended the glitzy state dinner for the indian prime minister. also attended by the a.g. merrick garland along with the white house's july 4th extravaganza. remember the balcony shots. and the angle finds it mega odd that when the secret service revealed that cocaine was discovered in the west wing, the white house failed to mention that hunter had, in fact, been living there at the time. joining me now, charlie hurt, "washington times" opinion editor and fox news contributor. all right, charlie, the post is also saying that on the day that hunter was set to enter the plea deal, white house aides intentionally left space in the president's schedule so he could monitor the case. charlie, i thought it was all hands off. we don't get involved in what your son is going through. i can't keep up with the lines they are using. >> exactly. and i have to say that last thing to me is the most shocking part of that entire story. we have sort of come to sort of expect the white house to do things -- to sort of play hide-and-seek with information. and the fact that they didn't reveal the fact that hunter biden even to top officials was living at the white house for two weeks almost doesn't even surprise me anymore. but the fact that they cleared the president's desk, cleared his schedule for the day that he was supposed to appear in court, it's like so, we don't know who is running the country. we don't know who is making decisions. we don't know who is sending out tweets that are supposedly being sent by the president. we don't know -- you know, what his schedule is, what he is doing on a day-to-day basis, and how much of his time is invested in worrying about the legal woes of his son. and it's kind of -- you know, we have almost sort of gotten used to it but it should still be shocking to us that we don't know what the president is doing on a regular basis and to what degree he is completely preoccupied with this disaster that is his -- that is the first son. >> laura: now, "the washington post" actually reported yesterday that at this point the probe into hunter biden appears unlikely to result in separate criminal charges. but fbi officials are aggressively pursuing the investigation, charlie. how -- there is no movement on this case. there has been no evidence of any movement on this case. but they keep saying oh, there -- we're really aggressively on this. what is that? >> yeah. so, of course, this is the whole purpose of setting up a special prosecutor. not that i think that we should have a special prosecutor in this case. but, the idea that you're going to trust the department of justice and the fbi, clean-up this administration has so thoroughly weaponized, to use against a political opponents, the idea that they are going to accurately and fully investigate what is clearly crimes, crimes that would get any normal american arrested and put in jail, the idea that they're -- we can trust them to do this in this administration, no way possible. >> laura: what about the hunter biden attorneys bowing out? three from watkins said bye-bye. they might be witnesses, apparently. >> so, you know, if anybody is wondering what a disaster that plea deal falling apart was, this is -- this explains it all. because the whole reason that the attorneys claim that they can't stay with the case is because they might be called as witnesses in the collapse of the crooked plea deal. that tells you about all you need to know going on with this case. >> charlie, thank you. up next the angle takes the pulse of the nation. how is that white house sell job on bidenomics going. other news for joe and the gang. why doesn't new hampshire seem to like chris christie. stay there. salonpas lidocaine flex. a super thin, flexible patch with maximum otc strength lidocaine that contours to the body to relieve pain right where it hurts. and did we mention, it really, really sticks? salonpas, it's good medicine. having diabetes isn't easy, but i found splenda diabetes care shakes which help me manage my blood sugar and give me the energy at breakfast to take on whatever the day brings... they're smooth and creamy have 16 grams of protein and unlike others, *splenda* shakes have zero sugar they're a perfect snack between meals. or lunch on the go. splenda shakes are made by the #1 doctor-recommended sweetener brand. splenda diabetes care shakes: find them in the pharmacy aisle today. >> leaving nobody behind. we're investing in all of america, in the heartland and coast to coast. >> laura: nice try, but the voters may just be leaving him behind. with biden's 36% approval rating in the economy, according to a new a.p. poll, this flimflammery they are trying to pull inflation reduction act and bidenomics is not working at all. unless you think every decent poll on those issues are wrong. a new fox news survey reports that 54% say the grocery prices are a major problem for them. among those making less than $50,000 a year. it's a staggering 67% say they are a problem. another red flag, this is a big one, the cost of utilities, we have all felt that 42% say it's a major problem. and that number moves up to just a hair under 50% for those making less than 50,000. so, from bidenomics, to so-called inflation reduction, americans just are not buying this rose portrait the white house just keeps trying to sell. so now what? just try to coast to victory by talking about trump's indictment and abortion? joining me now is matt tourry and ned ryun founder and ceo of american majority. ned, he says he's for the working class. but the working class is clearly not buying what he's selling. how much of an opportunity is this for the republican nominee, whoever it is? >> well, i think it was james carville that said, what: 20, 30 years ago, it's the economy, stupid. so hopefully republicans aren't stupid and actually talk about the economy because the average american family is paying over $700 more a month for food, gas, basic expenses than they were two years ago. if you look at a family that's making 100,000. that's about 8.4% in inflation that they're paying and not seeing their lives get better. so, republicans would do well to point out that bidenomics is a complete and total failure. it has made americans lives worse on every level. i think the other thing that's staggering about the bidenomics, laura, is. this. we have now hit a trillion dollars in credit card debt with americans and we're seeing an increase in emergency withdrawals from 401(k) accounts. neither of those two are good are to the economic health of this country. >> laura: matt, when you think about just how the average person struggles today, you wonder how much talk about the 2020 election and whether you really want arizona or wisconsin, i get that people are upset about the 2020 election, but people want to talk about how we're going to get the price of gas down and when food is coming down. that's what they want answers to. do you agree on that? >> well, they do, laura. and there is so much clutter out there right now. because so much of support media that the democrats have, which is most of the media, is just focused completely on the trump indictments. they ignore for the most part the biden situation. did just do a poll 50 hers of americans can't connect the dots between hunter biden and joe biden. when it comes to the economy, they are hurting. but where the republicans need to get smart is they probably need to do a better job to create the causal relationship between biden policies and how that's affecting their own personal wallet. because, oftentimes people say well, the economy is bad. but it was terrible, you know, after the pandemic with trump and biden has tried to do things. and then, of course, they are going to see this stuff from the media that is going to spin things saying it's getting better. >> laura: it's not working though. >> you and i really know they are going to double down come next year. you will start hearing everything is rosy. to a person that doesn't have a penny in their pocket they may not buy that it's rosy. >> laura: i don't think they are those cussed on 2020. gas being over $4 a gallon in some jurisdictions. new polling is showing that chris christie fashions himself as the great trump layer is that he has moved ahead of desantis in new hampshire. now he is at 9 %. desantis is 8%. mollie hemingway wrote a piece the other day saying everybody hates chris christie. but, apparently at least some people in new hampshire do not. ned. what's going on here? >> well, that's all well and good that he is at 9%. >> yea for him. trump is at 49% in the same poll. which means it's not really a race, laura. so i guess, you know, if you are getting -- if you are running for second, good for christie. that's not the point. the point is to actually win. and he is getting trounced by trump right now. so, it means nothing. it means he is the king of the dwarfs. and trump is still the political giant in every state right now that we're seeing in the early states and obviously in the national polls. so yea for chris christie in his little small triumph in beating out ron desantis by one point in new hampshire right now. >> laura: yeah. mr. jared boyd wrote that piece, not mollie. matt, really quickly on this. when you see this debate next week, the republicans on stage, they're going to try to take out, perhaps, vivek, who we just interviewed, i mean, it's kind of taking the nation by storm. is focusing on him going to be a good tactic for someone like desantis? >> no, it's idiotic. that man that you just had on your show is dynamic. i think attacking him, particularly since he has come out in favor of trying to help trump and support trump is going to be a big disaster for desantis if he decides to do it. i would advise against it. >> laura: matt and ned, thank you both so much. a professional female golfer plays the sport pregnant. so what caused the uproar among so-called golf journalists?
