across the country. now, given the pathetic leadership in places like san francisco, chicago, washington, d.c., and new york, hardened criminals feel elm bolteddenned. heck, they feel unstoppable. now, you are watching a vicious attack that occurred in broad daylight against rand paul's staffer philip todd in march on eighth street northeast. that's not far from where yours truly once lived. he was stabbed in the head unprovoked. allegedly by a man who was released from prison a day prior. the video was just released. mr. todd ended up with a fractured skull as democrats spend tens of millions of dollars lord knows how much every year to investigate one man, violent criminals are terrifying d.c. residents. >> i just thank god to survive. it's not easy. i can't believe -- when i saw the video after i keep looking at myself. look for my hands, do like this. just try to believe i'm alive. for some reason got saved me. >> he is an uber driver from iraq. too many haven't been saved though. d.c.'s murder rate is the highest it's been in two decades. in response, have we seen a change in the permissive attitude? policies, laws towards crime that frankly destroyed what were so many once habitable, you know, nice to live urban areas? no, none of that has happened. instead meaningless platitudes from mayors like d.c.'s muriel bowser. >> know many are necessary to fill the gaps in our public safety ecosystem. we also know that we continue to need a policy environment that spawshts effective enforcement and reduces crime. and we will continue to work with the council to make sure we have the right policies, tools, laws and investments to drop down crime. >> >> laura: wawa wawa. >> the thug who was arrested for abusing women. even "the washington post" can't avoid reporting on this one saying that a man released from detention after being charged with inappropriately touching three women on sunday in northwest washington was arrested again two days later. accused of sexually abusing three more women in broad daylight near downtown. and reminisce isn't a of the violence plaguing the new york subway system a man was killed right beside the columbia heights. upcoming neighborhood with plenty of trendy restaurants. howard university that's not safe. a massive brawl left one student stabbed and others injured earlier this week. one of the victims told the local station i was prepared to i do when i was on the ground getting stomped out i just stopped feeling the pain at one point. these are our kids. as a long time former resident of d.c., i am both saddened and frankly enraged that politicians let this happen and that the voters still haven't gotten the message. democrats are destroying our cities. destroying a lot. they are definitely destroying our cities. but, frankly, it's not just the big cities. why all the attacks are happening in small town america as well. like middletown, connecticut, where a police officer was overw4e78d by a hammer wielding nutthat ran at her fool speed. >> stop, stop. stoop. [screaming] [gunshots] >> okay. [screams] >> did she hesitate to shoot hm because she was worried about being prosecuted herself and anti-cop atmosphere that has swept the country? who knows? but you have got to wonder. now, as for new york, it's become one big giant psych ward except where the patients are armed and where there are no burly attendants to restrain them. the following is an example of what police in new york have to deal with all too regularly. this is a 31-year-old freak who sideswiped long island cops after holding a gun in the air and pointing it at his head. >> gun, yo. yo chill. >> yo! [tires squealing] >> drop it. drop it. drop the gun. drop the gun. >> yo, that's crazy. that's crazy. >> laura: yeah, obviously the cops had to sideswipe her there to get her to put the gun down. >> now also known as hanna carero toted that pistol while standing in the middle of the intersection. that was north bellmore in new york around 2:20 p.m. again, during the day. ad corresponding to the nassau county police, his rap sheet included a june 8th arrest for third degree burglary followed by another arrest the next day for second degree burglary and trespassing. so you see it, don't you, the revolving door of justice. it's so compassionate, isn't it? and things are upside down completely in chicago. police supervisors there are telling cops on the beat to just avoid chasing criminals involved in organized street muggings. and by the way the results of this hands off approach, well the offenders in this case drove away to commit even more crimes. duh. law enforcement can't keep the peace and police cannot maintain the order if they, themselves, are handcuffed by politicians that they answer to. and as the great charles murray notes, it all began when so-called broken window policing stopped. and a group of 34 of the largest u.s. cities homicides surged 30% in 2020. daily life in some cities evoked the menace and decay of new york city and the city in the 70s and 80's. and as of 2020, arrests for broken windows offenses since 2013 had fallen by 74% in new york, 77% in washington, 81% in l.a., and the clasp of broken windows policing was accompanied by a broader retreat from law enforcement in all three cities for felonies as well as misdemeanors. well, the death of a nation of perfect criminals paradise, however, still has to go to san francisco, right? where the owner of the iconic 166-year-old gump's department store is trying to sound the alarm. >> you can't get around and when you are trying to walk the streets you step over needles and human waste and often bodies on the streets. it makes it unworkable business environment. these kinds of things are incompatible with successful business. and if that's -- if that's something that businesses have to do to depart it's really tragic. >> laura: here's the bottom line. democrats believe that any american who works hard, and tries to build a better life for themselves, and their family, probably a fascist. maybe even a trump supporter. they prefer criminals because they believe in america, high crime rates are what we frankly deserve at this point. and now for too many americans, that's what you're getting. so if you live in one of those places where crime is out of control and seems to actually pay for most criminals? you have to hope that the voters turn on the democrat party. because, until they do, this situation will continue to deteriorate. and that's the angle. joining me now is retired chicago area police officer sergeant betsy brain northward smith. sergeant, it's good see you this idea of now not chasing tracing criminals who are involved in attacks on just innocent people walking down a sidewalk in frankly large groups of thugs at one time, that's been going on in chicago now for some time now. >> well, it absolutely has. and mayor brandon johnson, the guy that you thought couldn't be worse than lori lightfoot, got upset with the media because the media called these teen takeovers, you know, mobs, groups of mobs. and it's incredibly frustrating because, laura, for the last three years demon need by politicians, some in the media, by activists. and it has become a pro-criminal justice system as opposed to pro-victim. that's one of the reasons why nine out of 10 police departments in this nation is short-handed. cops are fed up with it and they just get out of the profession. >> laura: well, i have talked to so many police officers near where i live, and in other parts of the country i have had the chance to do ride alongs, you learn so much from the police how difficult this job is. when you saw that video of the middletown, connecticut -- it's right next door to where i grew up. a wonderful place to grow up. you saw that police officer hesitant, didn't she when he came at her with a hammer. you have to believe that there was something in the back of her mind that said if the shoot, and i defend myself, i might be the next person on trial for some type of racial, you know, response. that's what i fear is happening all too often. >> oh, laura, it absolutely is. i train -- i travel this country and train police officers. that's what these officers are telling us that as they pull that gun, they are asking themselves am i within policy? am i going to go to prison? am i going to get arrested? am i going to be the next cop that's vilified that puts my family through what so many police officers family's have been through? and that gentleman that attacked that police officer with a claw hammer, winston tate, his criminal record includes convictions for dangerous weapons, interfering with police officers. attacking police officers. harassment, robbery. all in the last few years. and, yet, here he is, that police officer showed up to try to de-escalate the situation and she ended up herself getting injured. and having to shoot him. >> laura: well, th thank goodnes she survived. she might not have survived that sergeant smith, thank you so much. >> senator feinstein? >> um. >> say aye. >> pardon me? >> aye. >> yeah. >> just say -- >> -- i would like to support a yes vote on this. >> just say aye. >> okay. just. >> aye. >> aye. >> laura: can you see why there have been a lot of concerns raised about dianne feinstein. it's been happening for years. but now the over 90-year-old senator is suing the trustees of a fund set up by her late husband accusing them of committing financial elder abuse by refusing to pay the millions of dollars to reimburse her for medical bills. the suit was filed by feinstein's daughter catherine who was given a limited durable power of aattorney over her mother's affairs in july. here is where i'm going to ask is a victim potential elder abuse financial or otherwise one who is surrendered power over her affairs to her daughter really someone who should be still be in the u.s. senate? we all know the answer to this question. mollie hemingway with s. with us. editor and chief of the federalist. fox news contributor. mollie, we all see this in real time. it's feinstein, biden, others who shouldn't be still in the senator in any position of real authority. but the voters keep returning them to office. but this certainly looks like real elder abuse here. >> yeah, this is a particularly extreme situation. something that we have seen increasingly in washington, d.c. the average age of senators continues to skyrocket. but other top officials as well. but, this is a situation where, as you note, her daughter has limited power of attorney over her. the duties are not being fulfilled in a way that i think most people would reasonably want them to be. because there are political mac nations in play, it's the same as with the other people who maybe shouldn't be in these positions, nobody wants to relinquish the power. nobody wants to let governor a point, say, barbara lee to be her replacement so nancy pelosi who wants adam schiff or whatever the situation is they are working to just keep her in there even though it's clearly not in her best interest. and the rest of the country gets to suffer. >> laura: senator feinstein's former colleague claire mccaskill chimed in. >> this whole story makes me incredibly sad. >> me too. >> and, frankly, i don't think that dianne feinstein i knew would have brought a lawsuit just because others did it doesn't mean it's a good idea. and this is doing some real damage to her legacy. >> laura: but no concern about, you know, biden's legacy from claire bear there, mollie? >> right. and also, as sad as it is to see people in this situation whether it's fetterman, i mean it's a bipartisan issue, frankly. as sad as it is to see it for the individual in question, it's also just not good for the country. it's not good for the people being represented. these people become so powerful. they have tons of people surrounding them who rely on them for their paycheck. and so it's just -- it's emblematic of the problem we have with centralized power in washington, d.c. and how it is not caring about the needs of the actual american people or the constituents of the people in play. but, it's sad to see. i mean, again, like with fetterman, also a senator, his doctor said that political activity was not good for him. and, yet, people are willing to use him just so that they can stay in power. >> laura: mollie, it's actually a sad commentary on more than just washington, right? the elderly are not treated well, i think, across the board in the united states. this is just one other way that they are not being purchased in their old age. sorry, but i think part of it is that. >> i think that's true. i also think a lot of people do deal with this in their personal life. i can't tell you how many people have talked to me about how much it pains them to see president biden, how he is aging. and they always wonder why aren't people who love him, why aren't people who are close to him. >> laura: bingo. >> caring more about him then, again, about power? >> that will help them tremendously to have the base you have been sumo where you control the mat and not get pushed out. that is what fighting is. being able to control the center of the ring is important in ufc and mma in general. >> training wasn't over yet. now it's time for some strength to work. >> we will do 10 seconds right there. one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine connaughton. now we will go to the incline. we will climb the rope. we will walk up. using legs and back. a lot of the punching muscles that you use. just like this. you are not even breathing. >> not yet. >> this is easy for you, laura. you've got this. i have to call dana white. laura ingraham is as ready for a world title fight. one, two, three. now the jumping jacks. one, two, three, four. good form. three slams. good exposure. one more. nice. one more. three. she can go all day. she don't get tired. laura ingraham is the baddest woman alive. you heard it from colby covington. >> you are ready to fight, laura. i think she is ready to fight. she is ready. look at that. >> she is a political powerhouse and knows all the angles. she's the undisputed champ of the 7:00 p.m. hour. introducing the beltway brawler, laura ingraham. >> you want to do this laura?
