we'll see what happens. kelly and i will speak with some voters that tell us what they would like to see and hear from the candidates on the stage and the message that they have ahead of the debate for former president donald trump as well. first, president biden is about to make some remarks on the u.s. economy. they've been pushing bidenomics very hard over the past couple days. clearly this is central to the president's re-election push. yesterday's speech though after it kind of got fact checked by many, it ran into some serious headwinds. it's a head scratcher as to why he brings up some of these things that are so easily unwound on the truth meter. there were about seven or eight of them in this speech that got picked apart one by one. we're not going to go through them all. the question is why he keeps raising the same things over that get debunked. here's one random one. the president said i saw this bridge collapse in pittsburgh when i was on the scene last year. watch this. >> i watched that bridge collapse. i got there and saw it collapse. with over 200 feet off the ground going over a valley. it collapsed. >> foxnews.com points out that hours before biden's arrival in pittsburgh for a pre-planned speech, the 477 foot forbes avenue bridge collapsed injuring multiple people. he later visited the site, but he did not witness the collapse first hand. so there's that. so let's bring in fox business host brian brenberg and clay travis. great to have you with us. we're waiting for the president to speak about the economy. it's been a push the last couple days. i want to start with you on that to our economic experts. there's a new quinnipiac poll out. 58% disapprove of the handling of the economy by president biden. 71% said the economy is good or poor. 51% say that they believe in their experience that the economy is getting worse. what do you think of the push that he's making and how effective it is. >> that poll follows what gallup, pugh and cnn, abc and reuters polls are showing, too. what you're seeing now is you don't see democrats barnstorming the country in their districts talking about the inflation reduction act. you can see the white house changing their rhetoric and narrative after the president said i wish i hadn't called it that. today you see the white house officials calling it the climate spending act. so it's a different narrative now coming out of the white house. what is really happening behind the scenes is it's mistaking spending for achievement. when you have the chicago fed, the san francisco fed, now you have cbo director saying, you know, inflation has been triggered by government overspending. it's helped ignite it and fuel it. you'll hear the white house say the ira has medicare, drug pricing negotiations. yeah, that's a good thing. senior citizens are seeing now compounded 16% plus innation since the president took office. that's a lot of sticker shock. that is i think hitting his poll ratings. >> bryan, your thoughts on this. let's put up the prices that are compounded as liz says since the beginning of the biden presidency. milk is 14% higher. poultry 23% higher. gas 39% higher. some places, gas prices are starting t inflation at 3 or 4%, that is meaningless to a family that is paying 20% more for groceries than they did two years ago. the reality is to make do, to make good on that, they're borrowing at record levels. worse than that, martha and this is the president doesn't lie about it, he omits it. people are becoming delinquent on borrowing, credit card borrowing, auto loan borrowing. we're hitting levels higher than prepandemic. people don't feel like inflation is abating. they're putting it on a card. they're not able to pay that. then the president tells them hey, everything is getting better. they're like friends, seriously? have you looked at how we're living lately? that's not true. >> martha: real experience is the best barometer for americans across the country. they know what they're going through on a personal level. clay, you know, i only point out this thing about the bridge because these things keep happening. there's a lot of questions about why the president keeps repeating some of these things that are not true. we talked about hit father not going to college. turned out he went to johns hopkins university. what different does it make if this older gentleman likes to tell stories that are not exactly true? >> well, martha, it matters because it plays in to the larger story here about joe biden, which is in my opinion he's not mentally or physically capable of being president of the united states. i think increasingly that is the opinion of a huge majority of americans including a lot of democrats that voted for him. when he continues to have these errors and these things that are easily refuted falsehoods, they're not factual disputes or even sometimes defensible positions that you could have in the political arena. these are things that are immediately able to be refuted as untruce. how many times has he said that beau biden died in iraq? his son. it's awful that he died but he didn't die while serving in iraq. he says it all the time. it starts to in my opinion reflect upon the larger issue for joe biden, which is his mental and physical lack of strength in terms of being able to to this job, again, this is not just a republican argument. this is not just an independent argument. democrats, if they had the choice, would prefer that joe biden didn't have this job. i'll just say this. there's not a single job -- i'm with outkick. we have a lot of employees. joe biden couldn't do a job at any of the places that we have people employed at outkick. let me put it this way. if you owned a gas station, could joe biden run it? instead, he's running the country. i don't think he can run an average gas station on a corner anywhere in america. >> martha: it's 60 plus percent say they don't want president biden to run again. somewhere in that neighborhood, north of that for the former president as well. so americans are looking for alternatives it would appear, although reason the republican party, president trump is still extremely popular. we'll get to that. keep an eye 0 on the president's statements from the economy from the white house. we'll monitor that when it breaks. brand new, fox power rankings today. the first round for the 2024 election show 74% of registered republican voters say they would support former president trump if he becomes the gop nominee. another new poll is showing a shift in the other candidates that are running in new hampshire. it is significant. kellyanne conway is next. >> a few things. if you're a republican primary voter nationwide or in almost any of these early key states, martha, all of these legal woes for president trump have given you an excuse if not a reason to shop around. very few people are. i think next week with bret and you moderating the debate, the challenge to the candidates that are not named donald trump is two fold. first, you have to attack donald trump. take him on. second, at the same time as a companion, need to attract his voters. it's a nearly impossible task. i predict if you're not named ron desantis will go after him. they're going to try to rough up desantis. he's shows a certain resilience recently and shown an ability to get outside of donald trump. him being heckled by trump supporters when he shows up. in iowa, they're putting it all there. chris christie getting separation in new hampshire. the curiosity for me is everything that another republican primary candidate not named donald trump would want to see is not evidenced in the polls. number 1, they like to say i can beat joe biden. donald trump is not electable. voters in "the new york times" sienna poll, 58 to 28 say -- >> put that up, guys. >> this is huge. the electability argument was supposed to favor the other candidates, particularly desantis. it sayto dress the way they wan. that's fine. you don't oppressi by focusing on others. that includes kids. i respect you have kids. that's okay. part of what makes our country great is we can be civil and have this conversation. >> it's a great way of answering the question. i worked for donald trump. the first president already in favor of same sex marriage. not barack obama. not bill clinton. if you go back, watch the clips of barack obama and hillary clinton in 2008 in the primaries. they're yelling at each other for whom is more in defense of traditional marriage. this is new. the new part of the conversation that disturbs many people regardless of the sexual orientation is you see people say we're coming for your kids. people don't like that. i think ron desantis did a marvelous job in florida when he said kindergarten through third grade, 8-year-olds, should not be exposed to sexually explicit content. 8-year-old to 18-year-old that he lost a lot of people. when you talk about kids, i think it's a different kind of conversation. i personally agree with vivek ramaswamy. we don't oppose people based on their differentiated characters. that's what makes america so great. she was waiting for a different answer. stereotypes have taken hold. tell me what biden and harris are doing for her and her community right now as opposed to this diverse group of candidates? let's bring in kevin o'leary, shark tank star and investor. great to have you here today. we reminded everybody in the tease of the moment from the movie where michael burry is telling people that the market is about to fail. he's asking if they should trust him. what do you think about what he's doing right now? can you explain it to us? >> the difference between "the big short" story, which is the housing market is specific to real estate and more specifically to the mortgage-backed market and the syndication of debt was very complicated then. very opaque. he figured it out. it was a house of cards on the one specific metric. that was one area of the market that he was 100% right and he deserves to win that one because nobody else saw at this time way he did. what he's doing now is completely different. the s&p 500 has 500 megacap companies in it in 11 sectors of the economy. real estate being one of them. so you would need every sector to falter or at least evaluations of every company in the s&p to significantly go down at the same time to win on that bet. now, nasdaq's 100 primarily tech, not all tech, but seven stocks that are trading at a very highs price-to-earnings ratio. that's a different bet. they too are in multiple sectors of technologies. so i don't think it's that easy. people don't understand about shorting, many investors learn it the hard way. i was one a long time ago. when you short a stock, you have unlimited liability. if it goes to see yes, you lose $10. if that stock, if you're shorted and it goes up to 200, 300, 500, you don't have enough money to cover the margin calls you're getting. very few people do. when you bet the whole market short, you have real cahunes. that's what he's doing here. >> martha: and we don't know if he's changed the investment. but warren buffet selling $8 billion of stock. that also has people concerned. are you concerned as you look at the larger market right now? is there something going on that people are not seeing or they're choosing not to see? >> no, i'm not concerned about one individual short making that decision. when you short the market, you're essentially saying i'm timing the market. i know something others don't know. people that try to live off of market timing have a very hard time. you may get lucky once as he did in housing, but this is a didn't kettle of fish that he's playing with. warren buff ten selling $8 billion of stock is actually a rounding error. it's meaningless. he's trying to stay diversifdiv. my bet is that is a somethinger trim ago portfolio. that's why the market doesn't care. to say that i know the market is going to go down, he will be right one day. when is unknown. how much pain will he have to take along the way? does he have enough dry powder at the margin desk? every time that market goes up another 1 or 2% that phone is ringing and they're saying send in more cash. >> martha: we have to cover this. >> you have to know what you're doing. it's risky. >> martha: thanks, kevin. thanks for coming on. >> take care. >> martha: take a look at these kids. the three finalists in the u.s. a mullet children's championship, a contest to race money for wounded warriors and the winner was announced live on "fox and friends," watch. >> drum roll. roy erlich and his cheddar whiz mullet. roy joins us with his mother, adrian. hello. >> they did not know until just now that -- >> so cute. the happiest mullet wearing kid in america. his mom was so excited. watch this. >> rory, tell us how you feel. >> my heart is beating so fast. >> rory, can you show -- give us a profile so we can see your mullet and shake your hair. >> party in the back. >> that was great. i love that this morning. look at these kids competing with their sunglasses. that championship also included other age groups and this season raised more than $175,000 for a home for wounded warriors. it's a great cause and a lot of fun on "fox and friends." thanks to steve and ainsley for putting on the wigs. that's "the story" for this wednesday. great to have you with us. look forward to seeing you here tomorrow. today is wednesday. we have a new podcast out. it's an interesting discussion with veteran political analyst doug schroen with his predictions for what he think will happen in the debate on wednesday. tune in to that. it's available at foxnewspodcasts.com. see you tomorrow. have a great evening. stay well. see you thursday. ♪ >> neil: well, you say it's your birthday. the white house celebrating the signing of the inflation reduction act a year ago today. how time flies. what the administration is whooping it up, americans are still paying up. shelling out $700 more a month than they did two years ago. paying more for things like food, gas and mortgages. th
