potentially going forward and she saw and uncovered there was in fact an attempt to basically sweep everything hunter biden had done under the rug for no consequential punishment. if this u.s. attorney david weiss would agree to this deal i think there is a concern that the rig job still may be in effect even though the special counsel was the right move and we should've had it years ago. howard: let me redo my favorite sentence to the new york times coverage and that we will get to a question. he says the hunter allegations may even break out of the conservative echo chamber to the general public which is largely not paid much attention until now. the mainstream media have not covered it until now. but on this question of david weiss, trump appointed, republicans have said they want a special counsel. clay said he wanted a special counsel. as a negative reaction suggests that no matter what merrick garland did that it would be a lot of criticism? >> you when the new car. yes. absolutely. marsha blackburn put it in writing that she wanted the special counsel in the first conservative out-of-the-box complaining about a special counsel. by the way appointment of a special counsel does not necessarily lead to jail time whether hunter biden or anyone else. republican or a democrat president family member. here is the problem it is not that it was not covered. when i knew we were going to talk about this i went back and look to every single network, all the major networks have covered this. when we look at the cable network such as msnbc which is largely liberal audience that a been complaining about how much coverage they had on msnbc and cnn there had been repeated interviews whether of james comer for other people involved in this very heavily outspoken, jay tapper, i think what it comes down to, we hate donald trump more, recovering him more. when you look at and look back, donald trump has across-the-board more ratings for people than hunter biden read one it is a business, to, the voters don't care left or right about hunter biden, they care about the top issues, this is a kitchen table voter issue across-the-board whether you're a democrat, republican, independent or haven't decided to claim. howard: i'm sure a claim i take issue. i'm not saying with any coverage at all a comparison with what happened on friday and now i think it would be possible to ignore. why do you think the mainstream media, let's just say went pretty lightly on these allegations against hunter biden? >> i think because they initially covered the 51 intelligence agents who tried to claim that there was absolutely no truth to the hunter biden laptop in the first place. remember they said they had all the hallmarks of russian disinformation which allowed joe biden to be able to break out in the debate. the idea that there was absolutely no suggestion that his son was involved in any way and improper behavior. and the laptop was not real. remember this is a function with bare minimum of coverage. msnbc, abc, cbs, and the washington post in the new york times. over half according to a recent poll of democrat voters still believe the lie that the hunter biden laptop was in fact russian disinformation. i think what happened the media bought the lie, they did not cover it they argued that the exposé was trumped up and not reality. they covered it up on twitter and facebook and fbi refused to acknowledge the truth which acknowledge the laptop was real and they knew it was real. all of that now there is an embarrassment with all the connections that actually exist between hunter biden and all of the foreign entities that we are paying as well i believe joe biden because the new argument now, joe biden himself had nothing to do with it. and there's a lot of evidence joe biden was very involved in hunter biden's business deal. howard: let's get into that in a moment. leslie do you think there would've been the same level of coverage on msnbc for an example if this was a republican president and his family talking about shell companies, millions of dollars. have a hard time believing that. >> any network is going to do what's best for their bottom line, they are a business and the bottom line dictated by ratings, that's how they get the advertising dollars. any network is going to put out the story and going to appeal to their base to their viewers certainly do i think they will be more coverage on msnbc if this were donald trump and one of his kids, probably. like i said i'm a liberal democrat and the people on my side of the aisle of watching msnbc have been complaining that msnbc has been covering it in a couple more points. even steve ducey played peter doocy, his dad said on our network, they've not shown joe biden profited personally or broken any rules, what law did he break i think this is a question even some republican voters asked hunter biden is not running for office, he is the son of somebody who is running an office and running for office. it is clear that on my side of the aisle there trying to use hunter biden to take down joe biden to have an excuse to impeach because republicans have been promising kevin mccarthy has to deliver an impeachment if you put us in power and if we have control of the house we are going to impeach. howard: i don't think there's any question even people on the liberal side the hunter biden engaged in a lot of sleazy backbreaking, he admitted and then e-mail that they were interested in his last name he knew what was going on. rfk junior's opinion on anything under the sun as you just laid out, that is fine that is how marketplace of ideas work. so far as i'm aware he has not killed anyone. if you get to talk about anybody being a stain on the kennedy name, i think you have to start with teddy kennedy and i haven't heard anybody say the innocent girl that my uncle killed deserved better but they are upset because rfk junior is saying things that they don't like while running for president, give me a break. i know rfk doesn't get a share fake from the media. and there have been others that say he's an embarrassment. the kennedys were like one of the royal families of politics. and he wasn't the only one that did bad or questionable stuff and only one is going to play out in public. >> they don't howard: i looked into this and the person questioning, she was not prosecuting him four years ago she was a defense lawyer for him and he was in the "rolling stone"'s inadequate relationship not an intimate relationship. should the president of former president be more careful or is it fine for him to attack whoever he wants to attack be more careful making the charges. >> when has trump been careful about making charges about anyone. i think donald trump is going to do what he's going to do it if it plays well for his base he's going to say and make those comments. if there were any truth to it it would make sense for him to mention it if he believed it was going to help him in terms of changing the look of her prosecuting him is and make it seem she is born of various. i don't have any evidence to support his claims and i would never make those kinds of statements and i don't think anyone else should but we do know who donald trump is he will do whatever he can to defend going to find a way to hit them back, that is what has endeared him with some of the base, that's what they saw a massive fighter it doesn't surprise me that he is going after the people that are looking at him. howard: he changes the rules. >> we also gotta keep in mind, the ads that we are seeing, he's talking to potential jurors as well, he is attacking the credibility you will be prosecuting him in the particular court cases and other commercials come out of his back and how joe biden's family and all these things that happen in laying out for an audience that may not necessarily see these things to the mainstream media lens he's communicating to the audiences, very directly and that's why the reason we see the poll numbers go up in terms of people being asked and they think joe biden is corrupt and should be impeached, those numbers have gone to the roof since these allegations came out and this is another mechanism that they are using to get the message out to the masses. howard: trump is a huge amount of coverage even with the hunter biden story on friday. i am a little short here but let me ask you olivia, why would jack smith secretly subpoena trump's twitter account and they drag their feet and got find $350,000. there might have been a few drafts that trumpeted but overall i don't get it what does d.o.j. have to gain. >> we don't know what he was after but we do know in the indictment he refers to a lot of donald trump's tweets as part of the case he is presented against him. like you said there might be drafts or dm's, communication, the indictment made it sound like he is moving forward, jack smith is moving forward with the case and presumably donald trump is when issuing the tweets not an aide or someone else. that might also be somebody to factor into that. howard: i don't think he types it in the phone but they don't like donald trump. before we go ask theo's has published data indicating this to your point that each new
