cooked up this gigantic piece of legislation costing a lot of money and called it the inflation reduction act. people are saying, maybe that is not appropriate, it didn't reduce inflation. >> ainsley: it wasn't about reducing inflation. he is admitting that. he says it is providing breathing room, reduces cost of basic needs. that is not what he said when he was sling it a year ago, he said it was the bill to pass to lower inflation. now he is saying this, brian, will you read this? >> brian: i wish i hadn't called it that, less to do with reducing inflation than providing alternatives that generate economic growth. think about the press secretary and how she yelled at people that said it wasn't reducing inflation. take a look at what we're doing with inflation reduction act, p meet their basic needs, even when there is inflation, there is way to provide breathing room. that is nonsensical statement we're getting used to. the headline they gave to it, the way they sold it was appalling on purpose and the reason he is saying it now is because he wants credit for the green energy that was jammed down everybody's throats there. there were things in the programs, giveaways help us add to $1.6 trillion annual deficit that at one point was 500 billion and going down. for the president to say these things, this is hours before he went out later that night at a fundraiser and said china is an evil enemy. we understand that, as president of the united states, calling somebody you have to deal with evil and dictator before is not really good leadership. >> ainsley: and indication that inflation reduction act is not working as well as they said it was going to. credit card debt is through the roof, higher than it has ever been. we did a story and more people are tapping into their 401(k)s to take out money. you are penalized, but they need to pay for baifk good says. >> brian: when they point to inflation going dun down, it is because fed is jacking up interest rates, affecting your car, or your house that you can't buy or sell and that is reducing inflation. for him to come out and say that, i think he makes everybody that defended the title ridiculous. egg on their face. >> ainsley: in florida, new york, and south carolina, people can't afford 9% interest rate, because they got their home at 3%, or there is no inventory because people are not moving. >> steve: the bill, inflation reduction act, ira, bag full of stuff to get joe biden and democrats re-elected, not a single republican voted for it. joe biden on his western tour this week was talking about all the stuff in that, it is stuff, portions of his base like. he is in the sun going, it is hot out here, it is because of the climate change and it is dedicated to that. his poll numbers are not great for an incumbent president and his campaign manager was asked about the lack of excitement about joe biden and kamala harris and here is what she had to say. >> well, we know that polls are snapshots in time and it is important we're not taking anything and any vote for granted this election cycle. we are excited that we have built an incredible early start to our campaign. we're really excited to see that kind of enthusiasm. we know that is in stark contrast to the extreme agenda we see from maga republicans throughout the republican field. we'll focus on ensuring that we're communicating what this president has delivered for the american people. >> ainsley: they'll continue to do what they are delivering for the american people. great. >> steve: in this snapshot in time. >> ainsley: in time, there is time. >> brian: 60% of the democratic party wants someone else to run. there is lack of enthusiasm for this president because obviously he is not been slick on the stage, he's not been strong with the speech. he has not been energetic in interviews, he doesn't give any. in terms of agenda, we have no idea, except democrats are speaking up on immigration and the breakdown of the border that is bleeding them dry, hurting them politically, let alone the country because of overflow with cities. y deficit. you have them admitting inflation reduction act did anything, but and you have i think 92% of all cities are run by democrats thachl is what is coming from this president. >> steve: joe biden did do an interview this week with the hard-hitting weather channel. extraordinarily, the weather channel asked him about breaking a campaign promise, i didn't see that coming. talking about how hot it was and how much money in the inflation reduction act, which didn't reduce inflation to get him re-elected. >> brian: question they asked, why are you allowing drilling on federal land, which is unbelievable, this guy stopped drilling pipelines wherever he could and people way to the lefts he should have stopped all drilling on federal land. >> steve: he said, the court said i had to do it. >> ainsley: when joe biden was vice president, he went to ukraine and bragged about firing the prosecutor, i will not give you $1 billion in tax dollars ukraine, unless you fire this person who sits on the burisma board with my son. there is a picture surfaced and house republicans are really slamming joe biden for they are saying this is proof he was over there to conduct business with burisma. the guy to the right, right? his name is amos hochstein. he was or is president biden's current special presidential coordinator, was in communication with hunter and hunter's associate at burisma holdings when the first son was serving on the board, according to e-mail reported by fox digital. >> brian: he's in communication with hunter and president of the united states pretended he couldn't pronounce burisma. he extended life of burisma because of the biden brand and getting briefed from amos hochstein thanks to a white house photographer who took this picture. little by little the circle is closing on every single deal that rosemont senec was involved with, hunter biden and devon archer. joe biden either had a meeting before, parachuted in on speaker phone or sat down with at a restaurant. >> steve: so elise stefanik put out statement regarding this particular picture and it reads, this damming picture of then vice president joe biden on air force two in root to ukraine talking to amos hochstein is further evidence that biden and senior officials in the biden administration knew of corrupt foreign business dealings and joe biden was intimately involved at vice president. hochstein was in communication with hunter biden and burisma, where hunter served on the board, all evidence points to joe biden being deeply compromised, that is what republicans are saying. in the fox news digital story about this, the way it is laid out is that apparently in some e-mail that fox news has reviewed, mr. hochstein is mentioned. we need to get in contact with him. he was the guy who could help navigate attacks in ukraine on private energy companies. of course, burisma was a private engineer company. >> brian: coincidence. >> steve: there are no e-mails directly to him or from him, but it is interesting. apparently he is somebody that raised a red flag about hunter being on the burisma board. according to his senate republican report on hunter's business dealings in 2020. testimony in public record shows amos hochstein in 2015, in that picture, where he is flying over, raised concerns with both biden and hunter biden that his position on burisma board enabled ru russian disinformati efforts and undermined ukraine. he was saying it looks bad you are on this board. >> brian: it is bad, you are double dealing with the family and your dad is president. here is jonathan turley. >> jonathan: we've heard this drum beat recently that the media is now acknowledging that sure, hunter biden was selling influence and access, but it was an illusion, there is no proof that joe biden got an envelope full of money or a direct deposit to his account, ever there, there is nothing here. democrats have said stop asking questions because you don't have that type of direct evidence of benefits. that is just ridiculous. all payments benefit joe biden. it is going to the biden family fund. joe biden is 80 years old, he's worth at least $8 million. he will not spend that, people his age and wealth are largely preoccupied with leaving a legacy for their children and grandchildren, great in that sense. >> steve: interesting story, if you would like to learn the back story go to foxnews.com, click on it. >> brian: couple things, james comer said he would subpoena the family members, why not? >> they may be looking at variety of things, things like direct messages or since deleted responses to previous tweets, which the company may have records of. it is ironic same people who pressured them to remove donald trump's tweets now want access to them. if the company had never taken down the tweets, all the information would still be public. >> brian: i love the fact elon musk pushed back, he said, i will guard your personal data. he got a subpoena and pushed back and got fined for it. the fact is, it is secret. trump hadn't been charged in january. what else are they up to if they are doing this behind his back and everybody else's back? >> here is what is interesting, what musk pushed back against was the gag order, the six-month order jack smith wanted and the government wanted them to not inform anybody about the search warrant. what is interesting about that, this sort of technique where government asks social media company to turn over records about customers and not inform the customer this had happened, this was a cause that all of liberal america opposed during the bush years. there were 300,000 national security letters that had gag orders atached to them in 10-year period beginning roughly early in the bush years. they were opposed by this, civil liberty groups back then. this is the same intrusive, secret prosecution that we once thought was offensive. >> brian: it is crazy. here is trump's response, obviously pretty angry. my opponent is going crazy trying to infringe on my fight for president. does the first amendment still exist? he is there. today is a big day, we'll find out, the government wants to try donald trump january 2, days before the january 6 anniversary of that horrible day for the country and washington, d.c. jury who the president said basically is a cesspool as he drove up to actually officially be arraigned with his indictment. what are your thoughts about the need for speed from jack smith? >> yeah, i mean, it certainly suggest there is a political motive behind the prosecution, although that is not exactly a mystery with any trump prosecutions. they want the tie this to the maximum media bounce from that. but i think what is interesting is that again, the polls show that doing this has not had the desired effect. trump has gone up in polls or stayed even and despite this indictment, which i think they didn't anticipate that people would respond to this indictment in that way. >> brian: if it is january 2 and it does take four weeks, he could be in jail as front-runner before super tuesday. i cannot believe we're at this surreal point in american history. matt taibbi, thank you. we find you how? >> yeah, it has been really interesting, steve. everyone i talk to and i've got 97 of our 99 counties done. i do a full grass 99 county tour every single year. i'm out and about and hear republican caucus goers, i hear them talk about how they fresh start for america. they want to see a level of energy and excitement brought back to our white house that, who knows what the january caucus, but it is going to be a tough one, we have a lot of candidates and iowans ask tough questions. they want someone who brings hope to the united states. >> steve: when you say fresh start, does that mean somebody other than donald trump? >> there has been a lot of discussion. now president trump in the polls, he does lead, we have a number of people out there, that will say, we need a fresh face out there. there is a lot of different thought in iowa and we have probably five or six months before january, see how it shakes out. >> steve: senator joni ernst, include chocolate dipped bacon for me. would you? >> you don't need to pay $30 to go on a tour, just walk anywhere around san francisco. i just got back from family vacation. we were in san francisco, i on-viewed a car burglary. people breaking into a car and next to me was a canadian couple who had their luggage stolen out of the bag. it doesn't take long and you will see rampant crime. >> ainsley: it is funny, i read this and were talking to carley during the commercial break, can you believe people are paying to do this? it is satire, it highlights how bad the problems are. you left san francisco? is this a reason? >> yeah, i was there for 10 years as a resident. my family, my wife's mother lived two doors down from us, i was a san francisco police officer and they fired me because i wouldn't get the vaccine. they have 70 people they could hire back right now, they refuse to do that. that is some of the reason that led to this draconian city and you are seeing such a fall from the city it used to be, their lockdowns were harder than any other city and it was harder. homeless and mentally ill, where businesses were kicked out during the harsh lockdown. >> ainsley: op ed by pamela pall explaining san francisco and what we're losing to shoplifting. talking about going to the pharmacy, she walks aisle to aisle pushing a series of buttons, i felt like imposition on the pharmacy staff after string of requests, i left before securing everything i planned to buy, the whole experience felt bad. we have all experienced this. you go to buy razor or battery, all locked up. basically the entire row was locked up, you had to get someone to open the cabinets. yeah, that is how it is now, look at target and safeway, sfpd worked overtime trying to prevent that, now the safeway supermarket, people walk out with scanners and show their receipt. thieves walk by anyway and push past security guards. it is tough time, think about the times i've worked overtime for these places. nike, for example, i got hired to work that job, i said, why do you need us?
