Oh, my god oh my god. Jesse the Hawaiian Island of maui has burned beyond recognition, devastating wildfires roaring across the islands and residents are comparing it to the apocalypse. Jesse the historic vacation town is almost unrecognizable. Thousands evacuated behind charcoaled cars and homes. Joe biden is asking for aid from fema. Thats right, we should begin by saying the damage is widespread, the images as you saw there were astonishing. But right now, that is the second biggest concern because there are still hundreds of people missing at this time, families and neighbors using google documents to try to locate loved ones. Although we should note that Cell Phone Service is not working on much of the island of maui, and for now, as you mentioned, the death toll, just moments ago, it was increased to 53, the mayor believes that the number is going to rise, also saying that 1700 buildings have been damaged or destroyed, mostly in and around the town of lahaina. That includes the boats and the ships in the lahaina harbor. You saw the pictures where the pilots were just astonished at what damage has been done. In maui they dont know where the fires have started, but they started rapidly. Some people got away from the flames by jumping into the oceans and residents said that they had little time to grab what they could and flee. I woke up this morning to pictures of our house just slammed and it was so hard. We came with the close that we have on. Many residents have similar stories each year. The Hawaiian Islands include the coastal territories of maui, the Second Island that is largest, an average of about 15 inches of rain per year compared to the mountains which get upwards of 300 inches per year and we will have much more including an interview with the pastor whose church in lahaina is no longer there to be one the question becomes what started the fires. These are introduced from outofstate from wealthy businesses and landscaping demands importing prior greenery that sparks more easily. 85 of wild fires are caused by negligence like campfires, cigarette butts, and of course arson as well. And there has been a rash of arson over the last two years. It couldve been a combination of factors, high winds, a lit cigar in nonnative grass and anything is possible. For right now, lets turn it over to william who is on the ground. We are in a shelter right now and people are dropping off blankets, towels, pampers, that sort of thing. The amazing thing that i have heard, police will not let people into lahaina and theres a lot of people still here who did survive, but they wont leave because they are not being allowed back inside. And it just looked like a complete war zone. It is so devastating. When you board people, what kind of things are they telling you . Well, people that have Family Members that they cant get a hold of, they talk about medical issues, they need to get over here because of the hospital. People with medication issues, people with all kinds of dire needs and i am just trying to do my part to try to help as many people as i can right here. How is the emotional state of these people. Obviously, they are missing loved ones, they have medical issues. How are People Holding up . It is absolutely heartbreaking. For example, yesterday the only part that we saw where there is Cell Phone Service is by the airport, i drove up there just to get in touch with my family in florida and there were people have loved ones missing, people breaking down left and right and its so difficult to watch and its really awful situation.
