>> martha, good afternoon to you. the white house is closely monitoring these developments in iran but confirmation five iranian american detainees have been moved from a prison to iran to house arrest. some of these detainees have been in the prison and iran dating back several years. a lawyer representing three families of the five detained broke the news with the lengthy statement today and went on to say, i hope this will be the first step to ultimate release, this is at best the beginning of the end and nothing more. but they were simply no guarantees about what happens from here. as a lawyer representing some of those detained, white house officials tell fox news this process could take several weeks and further indication this is still not a done deal and negotiations are ongoing. we also got confirmation from the national security council that put out a statement saying negotiations for their eventual release on going and are delicate. we will therefore have little in the way of details about the state of house arrest or about our efforts to secure their freedom. still awaiting official reaction from the iranian government to see how what they have to say about this proposed deal which likely led to the change of venue for these five americans into house arrest. however republicans on the hill demanding answers and quickly. the senator is the ranking member of the senate foreign relations committee said he is concerned, i welcome home detained americans, unfreezing $6 billion in iranian assets dangerous incentivizes hostagetaking and windfall regime aggression. the biden administration must punish those using american ponds and work to end this practice. we don't have the details yet from the white house. the state department or any of these parties which would be involved what was agreed to to get us to this point. martha the statement from the nst, nothing signed on the dotted line and the first step. president biden has been in utah with a campaign fund-raiser. he hasn't talked about this and i would imagine martha from the statement because this is ongoing, we will not hear too much from the president at least not yet. >> martha: but the details leaking out to some extent this afternoon, mark, thank you very much, mark meredith joining me now and set iranian journalist, always good to have you with us. thank you for being here. what is your reaction to this deal moving these americans from the prison, notorious prison to house arrest at home in iran? >> first of all, have to say i'm very, very glad because all of these five americans arraigned the end were innocent pure they were not bargaining chip to handle so i'm glad to. but don't forget that this is called hostage diplomacy. so clearly, this is a business for the criminal officials of my beloved country, iran. they are taking innocent prisoners hostage and asking for money so in my opinion, giving billions of dollars to islamic republic to release innocent prisoners, that actually sends a signal that, okay, from now on, you can take more americans hostage. >> martha: it is working. i saw mike pompeo put out a statement saying this is a trade-off to give them access to this $6 billion in oil money just to have them transferred from prison to home, which obviously, their families will be elated to have them home. and they say restrictions on this money. it can only be used for humanitarian aid. it will go to a bank indo hall while for food and medicine. they are going through great pains to say this will not be for ill but you know a lot about this. >> this money belongs to a rainy and innocent people who are suffering on the islamic republic. i myself had the first experience of having my family member hostage in the hands of islamic republic. i don't how to be hostage takers and a lot of people asked me what else, the u.s. government to do to release their own citizens? i met with many leaders and they say the same thing, so simple, be tough on hostage takers. first, 13 u.s. citizens, warned the europeans not to go to my country, iran because iran under the islamic republic is not tourism but a land of terrorism. and another from another solution but now that i to you, citizen, french citizen, german sebastian is in prison and received execution sentence. so all of the leaders of these countries that are named, they must get united and downplay the diplomatic relation with these hostage takers. this is the only way that you can talk to the islamic republic. otherwise believe me i'm talking to americans, very soon they will come after you and they will take you hostage and put you in prison because there is no punishment for the hostage takers. for me, that the administration must be transparent and let the americans in a iranians know that how much money exactly they give to these people because the money right now goes to kill innocent people like them. this goes to iranian cards to hang innocent people who support the freedom movement in iraq. for that, i am happy to see all of these innocent people free from prison. but at the end, this is a signal to the islamic republic to take more americans hostage. >> martha: we will put that message to the white house from you a little bit later in the show. we have john kirby on as the national person for the national security arm at the white house and nc coordinator for a strategic communications. we will take his take exactly happened here. and the other exchanges that have been made, brittney griner for victor bout known as the merger of death in russia said this is a routine that has become more common in this administration we will see where it goes, masih, thank you very much. it is an honor to have you with the spirit >> thank you so much. >> martha: here at home, inflation kicked back up as cash-strapped americans and get this american credit card debt all of us combined $1 trillion. in the united states. there is really one reason behind that, people dipping into plastic to cut costs. brian brenberg up next. ♪ ♪ just by switching. ooooh, i'll look into that. let me put a reminder on my phone. save $700 dollars. pick up dad from airport?
