off our power. was that meant to run? >> i think so. musk has offered twitter $41 billion in cash to take the company private. twitter's board is made at 1:00 p.m. eastern today to carefully review musk's latest takeover bid. twitter is one of the largest social media platforms claiming 330 million monthly active users around the world. musk, has criticized the country for not living up to free speech principles and says that it needs to be transformed. if elon musk requires this, we may just see him do that. okay. do you think he is serious? >> pete: i do. how crazy is it to be back on the couch. >> amen. >> harris: i thought i heard an amen. >> look at that. >> pete: it's great to see. i will say, i will give it in amen as well to elon musk. i think he is serious. i think this is a guy who has made a lot of money and has been very successful. loves this country and the freedoms it affords. looks at a space like twitter and says that it used to be a public forum now it's not. the business model also fundamentally broken. i'm going to buy into great leverage. now that i see from the inside a little bit more, i realize how broken it is. i wanted all. and i take it private. if they walk away from the deal, which they might, and he decides to get rid of his shares, that puts them in a really precarious situation as well. as far as the shareholders and stock price. no, i did not have on my bingo card one week ago, elon musk you know, tries to save free speech in america. but he's a freethinker and a bold guy. and i hope that he stares this down. i thought we were stuck to alternate ecosystems as conservatives or freethinkers, create your own. it would be amazing if you could take a brand and revitalize it and make it a true. >> harris: wow. that is so precise what he said. he gives that option and it's already established which is been part of a challenge for other platforms coming from the ground up. he starts at 330 million followers. >> pete: it's like if cnn could ever figure out. >> harris: yeah they got 10,000 years for that money. shannon, i saw you over there nodding in agreement paired what do you see about this? >> shannon: any time the establishment gets freaked out or silicon valley, they're like no elon musk can't touch twitter. then i start to think, why? like that's a little bit of the contrary in me that they are so freaked out about it. but remember, he calls himself a free speech absolutist. remember, he put the starling satellites up and try to help communication stay going in ukraine. and while people said that he should block russian media and propaganda. he said no. i will not do that. he said he is absolutely about free speech unfiltered in its purest form. i think that scares twitter. >> harris: wow. i want to get to this paired because there's another big voice in the business world. mark cuban tweeted today, "every major tech company google, facebook, is on the phone with their antitrust lawyers asking if they can buy twitter and get it approved. and twitters on the phone with their lawyers asking which can be either white night. good to be interesting." emily. >> emily: contrast to that, with elon musk tweets before, he said that the next board meeting is going to be lit. to talk about bingo, he's the only one apparently that saw the writing on the wall. i thought it was interesting. the language he used in his letter to the board, where he said, twitter has the potential to serve truly as a free speech marketplace in the global democracy. he says as of now, the way it is is becoming come as an investor, he realizes it will never serve in that capacity in a way to being run right now. it will not serve both as a free speech portal and also as a really fundamental aspect of a democracy. that is why i'm coming in as the white night, so that i can pivot. i think what is interesting to your point, remember he grew up in south africa. in the republic of south africa, the basic constitution on could hear someone who did not grow up under a.r.c. particular constitution but he values and appreciates what free speech means, what capitalism means, what anti-regulation means. all of that. if anyone can say that he can, but to mark cuban's point, if there are other big tech heads coming in here at trying to stand it down, i know who i'm rooting for and it is not them. >> harris: wow. i have never had that usage of lollipop had. before it popped my head. >> kayleigh: my take is this, brian seltzer said there's a lot of fear of elon musk taking over. i'm sure brian seltzer was wide awake and i think about this because guess what it means, if conservatives are given a free public square where they can say their opinion unbridled, uncensored, and shadowed. if they are given a place for the media is no longer leaning left, were social media cannot censor hunter biden, here's what happens. conservatives win nearly every time. when you look at the hunter biden story for example, media research center did a poll. they said 36% of biden voters did not know about the scandal. 13% said it would not change the vote meaning that president trump would have gotten 289 electoral votes. that is what happens when you censor an entire story to protect the candidate. that is exactly what is happening here. elon musk, we will see what he does. i'm excited because elon musk made the key point, you hit on it. because twitter was a public square and social media was a public square, they're going to section 2:30 protection meaning they are virtually immune from lawsuits. former president cannot take them on. you cannot sue them. they are no longer a public square when you're censoring half the country. we need to roll back on section 2:30 protection for that was the biggest regret for me with the trump administration. >> harris: it is interesting. because at first elon musk was asked about him, people wondered if he really was serious when he did not take that seat on the board. but why would you. they've invited you to sit at a party, when they are probably not going to listen to. even though you own 9.1, 9.2%. because he made a big guy already. >> pete: he beat biden himself to the party. and if he took a seat at the port he would be limited in what he could buy and what he could do. clearly he had grander plans from the beginning paired shannon come at your point, i love the fact that heads are exploding inside, twitter heads with these blue checkmarks, they've grown up in a cocoon where speech is violent. speech absolutist are dangerous. that's where the clashes. we have a lot of young people who believe in this idea that disinformation is dangerous. that you cannot tweet out the wrong gender pronoun for someone here that needs to be shut down. this is a total clash of worldviews. of whether or not we should have absolute free speech. that's why, elon musk has left a legacy on this country whether it's tessler spacex, this would be an even bigger one. >> harris: that's interesting what you just said. that word disinformation. because they got to decide what was disinformation. it was not an algorithm. we know that it's human beings at twitter. because when that racial epithet was trending against senator tim scott, remember when they called him. they left that trend. they actually made it floats to the topic they manipulated it. it was not an algorithm that was human base there. they did that. they want to control the disinformation, whatever it is. it's either something that they determined not to be true, or something that they wish was not true. emily. >> emily: that's exactly right. keep in mind we will get to this conversation later. but for example, the maniac that shot people in new york subway, he was allowed, racist rants were allowed to thrive on twitter and other platforms. and to your point, other gender pronouns missing. that's what gets you cancel. during to question the cdc commentary to question authorities. >> harris: i wear it like a badge. >> emily: because it was humans ascertaining what constitutes violence and free speech or not. they were absolutely condemning and censoring those voices needed to be heard. >> harris: all right. and we just mentioned, the subway shooting suspect now in custody. however, new york city mayor is going social media firms for allowing his vile anger fueled video on their platforms. remember, youtube said it had a watchful eye. google him. that's next. at xfinity, we live and work in the same neighborhood as you. we're always working to keep you connected to what you love. and now, we're working to bring you the next generation of wifi. it's ultra-fast. faster than a gig. supersonic wifi. only from xfinity. it can power hundreds of devices with three times the bandwidth. so your growing wifi needs will be met. supersonic wifi only from us... xfinity. let's do it. we already hit the bank, the museum, the jewelry reliable and fast. wireless savings so good, even the bad guys love it. switch to xfinity mobile today. and see dreamworks "the bad guys." speak of the suspect in tuesday's terrifying subway shooting is expected to make his first court appearance any minute now. frank james faces a federal terrorism charge with which if convicted could send him to prison for life. nypd arrested and yesterday, after a citywide manhunt. the suspect had a history of posting disturbing rants on social media. including anger fueled tirades about race, politics, even new york city mayor, eric adams. the mayor now calling out big tech for failing to report james to law enforcement. watch. >> i cannot play a song on a social media channel that belongs to someone else without them identifying that. why aren't we identifying these dangerous threats. why aren't we being more proactive, instead of waiting for this to happen. there's some responsibility i think on social media companies, they must lean into while we are watching these postings and these threats. every day and no one is giving an early warning sign to law enforcement. >> kayleigh: shannon he is absolutely right. manufactured censorship emanating from these social media platforms were certain things that infringe copyright laws or any type of dip into their potential advertising revenue, they are on it immediately. but really violent truly potentially tragic circumstances that are so evident looking back in hindsight, those are ignored. before too busy shutting on "the new york post" of the hunter biden's are because they do not want to share certain information. for satire, that's the point of satire. but i also have questions about this guy because he was known to law enforcement. a number of different agencies but he has had run into before. it raises the question for me about potential charges he could have faced in the past. he was able to legally buy a gun because he did not have felony charges. that is charging decisions as well. was there anything in his past that rose to a felony level charge that did not get charged or played down. i don't know. there is so much more to know about him. he was not a stranger to law enforcement. >> emily: that's right. that begs the question on that very point. in the criminal justice reform, the very progressive left have been advocating. the dangerous kind not the kind that comes from actual justice seeking changes but actually that kind where they are reclassifying crimes, violent, former violent felonies that now all of a sudden or a misdemeanor or are now all of a sudden nonviolent, stripping judges of any type of discretion in order to designate that, let alone put someone behind bars. the suspect himself said that the mental health system failed me. >> pete: which it did. it all has that cascading effect, to the point where when you walk onto the subway new york city today, you expect to be harassed or surrounded by people who have serious mental complications and have not been addressed. and potentially accosted. that's like the expectation. and the person in there doing it knows that if they do that, nothing will come of it. that's not because the police do not want to do their job. but it's because the park behind pumps them back into the system. time and time again. every time you get on public transit or walk the streets of new york, your plane relent. with your own personal safety. in a town where the second amendment does not exist for law-abiding citizens. but criminals have no problem getting their hands on guns legally or illegally. that reclassification is very legitimate point. he was able to get it because the system said so. >> harris: we know what was on the blotter report in those cases. this case got dropped. included a criminal sex act. larceny, precession of burglary items. some of them were pretty bad parent from 1991 until 2007. this is a rap sheet that you need a very large dumpster to put everything in. so we don't know all that. but it's an excellent point. because if he says the system failed, because he even pleaded guilty to many of these charges. that's kind of what is interesting about this too. try to sit for second on the mayor though. i get his point. on social media. if you look at what this guy was posting, he needed something. especially when he talked about wanting to kill people. he needed intervention. he needed a lot. it is kind of like biden blaming put in for oil prices. >> kayleigh: good analogy. >> harris: he took this job as a cop for 22 years, eric adams. started in january of 2022. things were sliding over already in the subway. he wants to talk the politics of guns, what about the woman, the 57-year-old woman who got hit in the back of the head with a hammer. 13 times all on video. why weren't the three cameras that would have been key to catching it james even earlier, why were they inoperable. there are a lot of things that he could put some pressure on now. is ta responsible for that? absolutely. but two weeks ago he said he would fix it after they said they were having perception problems with crime in the subway. there's a lot to get to with the mayor. let's see if he can step up. i'm not saying that youtube should not take down her dress. i don't think they take it down. i think they address it. tell local authorities, whatever it takes. let's not let him use that as the reason why this guy was not on his radar. >> kayleigh: that is such a great point. there's a constellation of factors that exacerbates a tragedy like this. or enables a tragedy like this to happen. the failures at multiple levels. but chief among them, or equal among them, is the amplification of someone because it's hard to stomach as a regular citizen, that people who dare to question against the progressive left herd mentality on social media are automatically canceled. and then something like this, where if it had been amplified, someone could have if they saw something said something. now to extend wishes that opportunity or that possibility. the hypocrisy is really hard to stomach with the social media platforms. >> kayleigh: it is. this maniac posted a video on march 1st we said i wanted to kill having an centered i was planning to kill everything i saw. that was on march 1st. there is a trend in this country, and worldwide, when you look at these things. jama did a study in what they found was that they studied 170 perpetrators, nearly half of the time, 44% of the time these perpetrators communicated what they wanted to do before hand. "the new york times" did a study of a hundred shooting perpetrators and found that 60 specifically said that they are going to do xy xyz. she has time and time again for the michigan shooting was all last year. he literally drew a picture of what he wanted to do. aurora, colorado. there is a threat assessment out of that individual. virginia tech, the individual there name to danger. there is a trend. so rather than kathy hochul, literally minutes after people are shot or hours i should say, two hours, getting up and alluding to gun violence is the reason for this. and mayor adams talking about that. instead of doing that, let's get together, right and left and study what we can do when people communicate their intense before hand and then you want to do it. there's something here and it is not begun. >> harris: there is no way they did not have him and hit all of his videos. remember, 2007 was not that long ago. it's not like these platforms did not exist. >> emily: absolutely. that's why classification and discretion is so important. legally, in some states to be considered an actual threat, you need to have it. with an action. an actual action. threats do matter. that's the whole point. threats lead to things like this. all of that matters. >> pete: there's a difference between these segments. it's wanting to have a political opinion that you at least don't like, it's one thing to say you going to shoot somebody. that's a totally different free-speech issue. >> emily: there you go. we should take everything a one fiercely. coming up, with crime and inflation soaring and the president's approval number sink into new lows, democrats are now bracing for nightmare scenarios come november. one strategist is calling" a biblical disaster. stay with us. "♪ ♪ >> emily: new and devastating poll numbers putting the president's job approval rating at an all-time low. a new poll shows that biden's job approval is barely over 30%. with more than half of the respondents disapproving of the current state of affairs. with just over six months until the 2022 midterm election, democrats are fearing the worst. one strategist not holding back, saying that november will be a biblical disaster. the last 48 hours and certainly not helping their cause, with the release of devastating reports on inflation and the economy. adding to other concerns like rising crime rates and the surge of the southern border which is only going to get worse. all of which are sure to be at the forefront of voters minds. this is like a sinking titanic peace and nothing can help this administration recover, not an ill-fated speech in iowa where a bird intervenes. not a supreme court nominee, not the perception of being a wartime president, not even they are not president trump vote for me. nothing can help them. what perplexes me, about 13 voters say they still like them. about 10 out of 10 people i talk to say they don't. i don't know who they poll with liberal media. i don't think it's 30% paired >> pete: i agree. but sometimes you just have to stop and say 33? that low this fast? alarm bells have to be going after the question is not whether or not it will be biblical, it's which one. is it a flood, drought, plague, locus? i don't know which calamity is going to be. we can take down the items. we do often. inflation, border, crime, illegal immigration. whenever you want to focus on. ukraine, afghanistan. we can go down the list. but it's also the cultural issues that they have allowed her to bubble to the top. whether it's gender or critical race theory or even the way covid is politicized. i think you can manage if your democrat, the fact that you're getting hit a little bit and you have to rationalize that away. but if you feel like your party has lost sanity, that's where the independent numbers even lower. 26%. the adults aren't in charge over there. you cannot undo that with a press release or a hashtag. their backs are against the wall for all the right reasons. they've got in bed with a crazy left and now they are associated with them. >> kayleigh: when you look at the breakdown here, look at these are four key cohorts to win an election. 26% approve. 37% of women, just 21% of those 18 to 34. democrats need these people. >> harris: you say young people. do they vote that sort of thing. but the performative value that biden has tried to show is mainly to young people. about the woke issues. he needs them to at least not be an enemy. she needs to have friends that can say to the base, i'm the real deal. he's got to perform for that younger group, even though they may not normally go to the poll in the same number of people who are above the age of 60. if you look statistically, that's true. so you talk about what gives you the reset for biden. i asked a democrat guest this last hour and she immediately toggled to something else. i don't think they know. you know what triggers voters? in party confusion. in party fighting. so what voters, democrat voters are seeing right now is the president that cannot figure out which way to flex. to i flex toward the woke and then every time he does something, jen psaki at the white house lectern has a say in a press briefing, that's not what our policy is. well do i flex the more moderate? she comes back out again pair that's not our policy. they cannot figure out what to do. so what that does as you get guys like who live along the border who are democrats going, title 42 are you going to wipe that away? knife got a real problem inside the party. because it's tied to national security. which again, is a leaders number one job. >> emily: is very simple. but shannon can only look at the president and vice president, the president has done one interview and the vice president has done six. this seems to be an inverse correlation for the more he put kemal out there, the slower the presidency seems to go. i don't answer, but i think having more than one interview would probably help. >> shannon: auto. i think after the performance and critiques of some of these issues, they probably like let's scale this back bring it in. when you look at overall numbers, of course they think about the economy. that is really the thing that drives people in their voting. can i put food on the table and take care of my kids and gas in the car. when you look a clear policy and how the country moves in the right a wrong direction, it is upside down by more than 37 points. that coupled with the fact that historically, the party of the president is in power, at first midterm after his election is not a good one. they are facing all kinds of problems. the president is upside down for the economy, inflation, the border come as you mention, hairs. it will get exponentially worse. in about a month. with the democrats controlling the white house, the house, and the senate, they cannot point to anybody else for these border problems. the cultural stuff, i don't know what they have two rally around at this point. take is just about every indicator is a super for them. >> emily: including california paired this would be like a republican president not having wyoming and oklahoma. red red red states. but in california, the vice president said i think it's 35%, 37% right around there. home state. speedily i wanted to say about someone which is 37% of residents where you are from and where you spent the majority of your public service career, which is the bay area, have a favorably your view. let alone the rest of california. two-thirds of registered voters believe that the countries on the wrong track. in california. get this, 65% of voters not affiliated with the political party, think that it is headed in the wrong trajectory. she is absolutely failed the people who know her best. and they are saying. you brought up the young voters earlier. interestingly in california, they have the worst marks of inflation against the president and vice president. it is not lost on them. >> harris: they don't make a lot anyway. right, because they are young and starting out in their careers. so yes, it is easier to get a job right now because we have so many of them. but if they good job and get a second job in a third job and still can't afford anything, what does that tell them about the policies of this administration? >> emily: that's right. the line that stuck out to me so much from that poll is that it said that the number captures deeply pessimistic about the future. we will see the decisions as a result in november. >> harris: it should be better coming out of the pandemic. >> emily: it's not. you've got 35% of lipton california supporting the vp. coming up, president biden doubling down and extending the math on the planes and trains. my goodness paired but guess he does not have to wear a mask?
