some days it will work, some days it will not. there is too much pressure to put it all on a year. so many variables go into life over 365 days, a lot to put on the calendar year. try your best everyday and what say you? kiosk you need a cardigan and pie and patches on the elbow, very prove sorial. i look at the year this way, i have not been promised next month, next week, tomorrow, i make the most of each and everyday. you get to a certain age and you notice what happens in the lives of those around you, sometimes catastrophic job loss and it makes you sit back and say listen, this is our chance to do something different, special or at the least enjoy and take it all in. i try to focus on that, that is miable goal, i will do more of that in 2022. >> todd: that said, if you look in the change of the calendar as opportunity to do reset and recalibrate yourself and make yourself better going forward, let's face it, we're all for it. if it makes you a better human in 2022, this world could use better humans, let's go for it. get more focused, clean out our inbox at work and that other junk, that is what i focused on, shows where my head is at. let's do it, go have a great often. how about you? >> todd: got it. i have decided i want to eat more like an adult and not like a 15-year-old. i want to work out like a 15-year-old not like the middle-aged adult i am. >> kevin: skill and talent issue not a fan of the distraction and i worry there is something bigger happening here, todd. your thoughts? >> todd: i agree, there is something bigger happening here, this is part of a pattern with multiple teams. in the nfl, talent finds itself back on to the field regardless of behavior and extracurricular activities. i don't know in this instance if it will. bruce arians human humadi. if these two can't get on the same page to test or not, how can we trust the administration and messaging on bigger issues like vaccines and other major health issues? >> yeah, thanks, todd. that has been a consistent problem with the messaging since the pandemic began, recent months it's gotten worse. this is a critical public health issue, they can't be going and making up policies on the fly based on opinion. at this point, we're two years into the pandemic and don't have to guess what is going on, we now know based on huge body of literature houshgman hemmati. from masking to vaccinations and everything in between. when it comes to this policy, let alone any policy, they need to base decision and policies cautiously, deliberately and entirely based on clinical evidence rather than saying my opinion is etcetera. as result of that, what is happening, there is confusion created in the public and that confusion leads to lack of confidence and that lack of confidence turns into lack of compliance. when we have that, you lose control of the pandemic and that's happened over the last year or so, especially. what we need is for the administration to recognize they need to speak with one voice and that one voice needs to be consistent and based on clinical evidence, not based on politics or internal opinion and not based on anything else aside from medical science. >> todd: two people that the nation turns to, dr. fauci and welensky. forcing kids to wear masks as they prepare for boosters for kids. start with the mask, as parent, is it reasonable to expect your kid to sit with a mask on for eight hours per day? >> what is interesting, over the holidays, the word this directive was going to come out leaked out and there was enormous parental outrage on social media, result nothing bombardment of the e-mails from parents concerned and angry about this for a couple reasons. number one, if you're telling kids and families now that they need to switch into much more draconian measures in terms of masks, n95s or surgical masks, does that mean cloth masks haven't been working? implicit acknowledgment of that. second, it doesn't make sense, it is tough to breathe with those masks, it is difficult to wear one tight fitting for a matter of minutes or hours, let alone an entire school day. omicron is less severe, so why make the mask requirement more severe response to it? public health department decided to make it a recommendation, not a mandate. we're going to see, i think a lot of pressure on part of parents to say base this on science, rather than trying to do anything you can to show abundance of caution, that is all theatrics. >> todd: every time i wear a mask for any period of time, i got to use my inhaler. do what you got to do. dr. hemmati, we appreciate your time. kevin, over tou. >> kevin: 21 after the hour. we continue on "fox and friends," tough talk from president biden in his latest conversation
