[laughter] it's just never on my bucket list. i never expected to get the invite. but here we are in the real hollywood, hollywood, florida. [cheers and applause] live from the beautiful seminole hard rock hotel and casino in the free state of florida. [cheers and applause] right? come on. you see, in the other hollywood nauseating award shows honor pompous actors who are famous only because they pretend to be heroes on the big screen. [cheers] tonight, we honor the real heroes. [cheers and applause] in the other hollywood, diva actors, they like to walk the red carpet, well, at the patriot awards, we walk the red, white, and blue carpet. [cheers and applause] in the other hollywood, fawning reporters ask kale-eating celebrities who are you wearing this evening? right? well, at the patriot awards, we show them. [applause] no doubt. tonight, we honor ordinary americans who did extraordinary things, which has always been the story of our american republic. we are the united states of america. united -- amen. united around our flag, our love of freedom, under god. [cheers and applause] and guarded by those wearing badges or wearing camouflage who put their lives on the line to defend us. at fox nation, we understand a central truth. america is the most exceptional nation in human history. [cheers and applause] award of the night. now, think about most valuable players, okay? they are indispensable to the team, right? they put in outstanding effort and it usually makes victory possible. without them you are not going to have victory. but our most valuable patriot absolutely radiates a positive, infectious attitude and that's what we all want. we want a positive forward-looking attitude and, and while so many athletes, right, they choose to use their platforms to criticize america, but never china, only america. our mvp uses hers to share her love for america. everyone meet meet tamera. >> it feels amazing. i love representing the u.s. i freakin' love living there. i love it, and i'm so happy i get to represent u.s.a. i love it tamara mensah-stock first woman to win gold in history. >> she inspired millions in moving press conference where she talked about her deep love for this country. >> i feel like god was speaking for me. i did not plan to say that. >> immediately after winning, i was like put your hearts up, tamara, tell everyone you love them. guess what? you are an olympic champ. get the flag. and that's when it hit me. >> to see an athlete stand up there and be happy and proud of the country they represent is very important. she is a great ambassador for the u.s.a. but she also understands it's a privilege to represent her country. (swords clashing) -had enough? -no... arthritis. here. aspercreme arthritis. full prescription-strength? reduces inflammation? thank the gods. don't thank them too soon. kick pain in the aspercreme. ♪ >> pete: here to present our next award, you hear him unfiltered every day on the dan bongino show. weekdays on fox nation and she is an investigative journalist with no agenda, please welcome dan bongino and lara logan. ♪ ♪ >> dan: i love you, too. thanks a lot. lara, always good to be here with you. person admired or idolized for courage noble achievements or qualities. >> this year's award recipient for heroism. this summer chaotic scramble to get americans out of afghanistan. take over that would have been a good thing for biden to think about. one man decided, one man decided to act to save our friends and allies from being left behind. >> dan: we are tremendously honored to introduce to you tonight lieutenant colonel scott mann. ♪ >> retired special forces are taking matters into their own hands. >> veterans across the world have now united. there is no one else coming for them but us. >> task force pineapple has been the most recognizable and effective of these groups. >> we knew who they were. we knew where they were and they trusted us. we were able to help present very highly vetted individuals in the context of a sea of chaos, of tens of thousands. these folks that were manning the perimeter, that's what they wanted to do anyway. >> it started with a handful of us who were friends with an afghan commando and special forces sergeant his name was nasem. we came together to help him get out of the country. we asked ourselves, okay, how do we leverage, you know, what we can do? we knew the country very well. we had operated there for a long time. we built relationships or releveraged pre-existing relationships with people that we already knew inside the pressroom ter. off sometimes the wait effort done by local people who live in those areas. we were able to be his eyes and ears and guide him to get around the taliban and check point. but it was a madhouse at the airfield. nasam had used the word pineapple as the password to gain entry with the guards. we were frantically yelling into the phone saying him to say pineapple, and he did. a few minutes later we got a picture of him on the other side of the wire and task force pineapple was born. then more names started coming into my inbox. i got own a phone with a couple of green berets and i asked them what do you guys want to do? it was overwhelming, let's keep going. we took the chat room that we were operating in for nasam and we renamed it task force pineapple. we set up some basic kind of operating rules which is that you are a shepherd, your job is to be the eyes and ears of the afghan family that you you are guiding. you had former green beret who would type in the room hey, my family is over at abbey gate. it's closed this marine would say all right well my family is at north gate. it just opened. let's get moving. got close they would hold the phone picture of the pineapple, we were able to pull hundreds of afghan families through these various perimeters in the final days. heroism, to me, means what the afghan partners and their families endured. people think the opposite of fear is courage and it's really not. it's love. the love that these afghan people had for freedom and the love that our veterans had for their afghan partners. i was just so grateful to see our veteran population show us what leadership looks like. that's who we are as americans. [cheers and applause] >> dan: please put your hands together and give a very warm welcome for retired green beret and tonight's heroism recipient scott mann. [cheers and applause] >> dan: awesome, brother. awesome. congratulations. >> lara: i'm very happy for you. [chanting u.s.a.] >> thank you. i think the only thing i can think to say right now is that i'm absolutely not a hero, but i got serve with a whole bunch of them. and this. [cheers and applause] >> this is for all the men and women i served with over the 20 years in afghanistan. this is for the men and women who went into the breech kabul international when all of this was falling apart. this is for the 13 that didn't come home. this is for our afghan partners many people don't know the commandos the afghan special forces they fought to the last round. they are still over there, many of them. the ones that weighed through the sewage filled canals who endured beatings. >> still emerging every day. every day. [applause] >> pete: scott mann is someone i'm proud to call a friend, proud to call a mentor. he is a great american. thank you, scott, for all you do in and out of uniform. speaking of friend and mentors, put your hands together for the one and only sean hannity. [cheers and applause] aren't we lucky to live in a country with these amazing heroes, these people that risk livei we just saw the will airport and we know what happened. august 26th, 2021 is now known as one of the deadliest days for the u.s. military in the last decade 20 year war in afghanistan. the previous 18 months, we haven't lost one single american in afghanistan. isis terrorists we know bombed the u.s. check point at kabul international airport killing 11 marines, one navy -- if i was obama i would say corpseman, he is an idiot. corpsman, one soldier, 18 other u.s. troops were injured in the blast. the fallen heroes range in age from 20 to 31 years old. please join me for a moment remembering those souls and honoring their sacrifice. ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ >> sean: i want to now ask you there are in the room tonight the families of some of the 13 that died that day. i'm going to ask them, i met them. i went over and said hello to them, a number of them. i want you to know that this fox nation family, we love you, we are praying for you, we are broken hearted over your loss. this should never have happened and if we can ever help you in any way, this big large extended family wants you to know we love you and we pray for you every day. will you please stand so we may honor you. [laughter] >> ainsley: who gave you this? >> steve: they promised me at the store. major dan rooney gave me this tuxedo, thanks, dan. anyway, thanks for all of you for coming. fighting for our freedom never stops at the battlefield and the impact can last a lifetime. >> ainsley: yeah, more than 53,000 u.s. troops were injured in the past 20 years of war and those are just the physical wounds. >> brian: yep, one of those men is retired u.s. army sergeant first class john goudie, he was nearly killed during insider attack in afghanistan known as green on blue attack. he lost his leg, he shattered his arm. >> steve: but, did that did not stop him from wanting to be back in the fight. >> ainsley: another time. despite his injuries, sergeant first class goudie, he deployed again on another combat mission to afghanistan. can you imagine? >> brian: all right. no doubt about it, he is this year's modern warrior recipient. >> april 25th, 2012, we were prepping to go out the following day. we had a, basically insider threat. one of the partner forces had turned on us resulting in multiple casualties. i have a prosthetic right humerus missing deltoid. shoulders biceps, extensive nerve damage in my arms. multiple gunshot wounds. two went around the body and one to the left leg rurelting in below the knee amputation. there is a grieving period after being injured. we think that your life is over. you think that you are not going to have the same quality in life. i had to deal with that sitting in the hospital room by myself with nothing but your thoughts. we start rationalizing and prioritizing things in your life. you set attainable goals. when you build goals like that and you can start meeting them, it takes away the negativity of the healing process. >> sergeant goudie wanted to keep fighting. just a year later he was ready to deploy again. >> when i had come back from walter reed after all the surgeries in 2012 i signed back into work on january of 2013. i think the difficulties of deploying with an injury first starts with your mental outlooking able to prove to yourself that you can do it and instill the confidence and trust in your teammates that you are an asset, not a liability. i think that was most difficult. >> john is always the person that's going to tell you it's going to be okay. we are going to get through this. we can figure it out. he is the most optimistic person in the world. it can be the smallest thing that you and i take for granted. >> he keeps pushing through even though it's something that is so easy that he has to try really hard to do. >> i watched him in so much pain in the hospital after he got hurt. i never want to see him like that, but i am so proud of him for overcoming that and being able to continue serving his country and i just am beyond proud of him and what he has done. [applause] >> steve: what a story. let's hear it for our modern warrior sergeant john goudie. [cheers and applause] >> judge jeanine: what a great night to be with friends tonight. this year marks the 20 years since the september 11 terror attack, a day that none of us will ever forget. but from the devastation, amazing stories of courage have emerged, among those were the passengers of flight 93. [applause] they were -- they were a group of strangers who not only came together to fight back against the hijackers, but they kept the fourth plane from hitting our nation's capitol. [applause] and one of those strangers, one of those strangers was todd beamer. [cheers and applause] and he is this year's courage award recipient. [applause] >> todd and his fellow passengers on flight 93 understood we are not going back to new jersey. we are number 4. they cockpit with a food cart. they didn't have any weapon. they grabbed box cutters. they grabbed what they could. noise, commotion, sounds of the counter attack beginning. >> mayday. and then phone was dead. >> united 93 do you have information on that yet. >> yeah, he is down. >> he is down? >> yes. >> when did he land because we had confirmation. >> he did not land. >> oh, he is down. >> yeah, somewhere northeast of camp david. >> passengers on this flight, they have taken down their plane to save the lives of others on the ground now being hailed as heroes. courage and optimism led the passengers to flight 93 to rush to save lives on the ground. some of the moment acts of courage for which no one could have been prepared. >> todd was the hero in our family for so many reasons before 9/11 because of the young man that he was. he was a provider for his family. he worked hard. he was going to work that day. a major blessing was that telephone call that todd had with a wonderful lady named lisa jefferson. he was able to describe the nature of the enemy, talk about their plans, send his love to his family, note that we're probably not going to make it out of this. pray together with lisa jefferson and then todd's last words are you guys ready? let's roll. [applause] it was shock. it was awful. it was this really can't be. my comfort my assurance of todd's fate. >> he was a christian. that's what gives us peace. because we know where todd is. >> it was a blessing with great news for the country that todd and others had a chance to win and they won. what i hope people remember about todd beamer his legacy, remember what kind of a man he was. what kind of a dad he was. what kind of a leader he was. he did what needed to be done. >> we have our marching orders. my fellow americans, let's roll. [cheers and applause] >> judge jeanine: and, here to accept the courage award on todd beamer's behalf are his parents david and peggy beamer. [cheers and applause] >> tucker: thank you for having me. i don't really go anywhere anymore. i'm usually hunched over my ipad banging out script with two fingers so to be in a room with full of people so obviously decent who keep fox going i'm serious, kind of blowing my mind. doesn't happen to me every day. i found that really inspiring and i really appreciated. >> i love you. >> tucker: i love you too. [laughter] [cheers and applause] >> tucker: the stories of the people on the stage all of whom were heroes, i thought wow, that person is a lot more impressive than i am and so is that person. so is that person then it got to 100 percent of the people. [shouting] >> tucker: yeah, right. i thought to myself yes, these people have taken greater risks than i have. they are more impressive than i am. they are still recognizablably american in the way that they are impressive. they are not like some person from outer space who arrived here to outshine the rest of us. they are americans raised up in the culture we're all products of who are exhibiting essentially american attributes. so what are they? they are humble. they are not that interested in talking about themselves. they are competence. that's one thing i always notice when i notice when i leave washington and new york. people outside the city actually have skills. no, i'm serious. [cheers and applause] >> tucker: i'm not being mean they can actually do stuff. they can make things. if it breaks, they can potentially fix it. they don't have to necessarily order another one from china over amazon. [laughter] they have useable skills. , which by the way at some point might come in handy. there is no other place like that. there is no other place where country men root for each other so passionately as they do here. americans love to see other americans succeed. your success is my success. you're impressive and i'm thrilled by that not envious. because the fact that you are succeeding says something great about this community that we call the country, the united states. there is something wonderful about that. that is not universal at all. it's uniquely ours. so i have to say having seen this my whole life, sometimes i hear people describe a country that i just don't recognize at all. maybe if i was living in some angry filthy crumbling city that would be my view of america. but, even in the angry filthy crumbling cities there are a ton of nice people. i actually don't recognize the descriptions of the country that i hear so very often that it's deeply rotten and it's terrible and we need to burn it all down and build back better. no we don't actually, it's already pretty great. it's the best expression. [cheers and applause] >> tucker: this country is the best expression of human decency in the history of the world. and if you don't believe that's true, tell me what is. i will give you my cell, call me when you figure it out. and you can't. so it's not even a political question. it's a much more basic one than that. i really divide the world into two groups. people to whom that's glaringly obvious, yes, this is obvious, needs to be improved needless to say. fundamentally great because the people are fundamentally great? of course it is. i live here. i know that. and the people who for some reason, whatever it is, clearly they are mad at their dads that's always the core problem can't see that or pretend not see that. that is honestly, i think, and i will stop with this, but this gives me heart and hope, as i sit there banging out my apocalyptic scripts every evening i can't believe how bad it is. then i think to myself actually this isn't most people. in fact, this isn't 85%, 95% of people. this is like a super tiny subset of people who went to wesleyan. that's it.
