-- terrorist, he's worse than that. he violated covid restrictions. as covid criminal. a man with covid shouldn't object a commercial aircraft spreading the virus to everyone else. of course, that's fair, but here's the thing, this man doesn't have covid. he was tested right before he got on the airplane and no trace of the virus was found. so why in the world is he being hauled off the flight by armed men? here's why, the government determined based on his travel history -- which they have had tracking, he might some day get covid, therefore in the name of public health, he's being forcibly detained, not for something he's done but for something he potentially might do inadvertently and for that this man is headed to a covid camp known euphemistically as a quarantine hotel he won't be a guest in this hotel, he'll be a prisoner. all of this just happened in north korea, you ask? no. in the netherlands! one of the most "liberal countries in the world." home of the hague, the international court of justice. this just happened at the amsterdam airport. you may have been there. think twice about going back. for that matter, think twice about going to canada, another supposedly "liberal country." canadian citizens are now banned from traveling by airplane, train or ship unless they can prove they've been injected with the shot that justin trudeau demands they take. this is a big change. for centuries, canadians have had the right to travel within their own country. in fact, they had that right before canada was even a nation, but they don't have it anymore. if they try it, they'll end up like a guy in the amsterdam airport n a prison disguised as a public health facility. i'm not making any of this up! it's all entirely real! 30 look it up. similar crackdowns are underway around the world. what we're watching here if realtime is the death of democracy. the pretext for all of this is something called omicron, the new variant of the coronavirus. omicron is incredibly dangerous, we're told, dangerous enough to justify a total suspension of our ancient civil liberties for the first time of hundreds of years. here is the amazing thing, omicron appears to be virtually harmless. in the entire world, there is one recorded death from omicron. in the united states, not a single person has died of omicron. not one. did you know that? have they told you that? probably not! you likely assumed it, because why wouldn't you -- that omicron killed many, many people, but, no, it hasn't. this is the definition of a manufactured threat. yet on the basis of this manufactured threat, one person dead globally on the basis of that, authoritarians posing as physicians are demanding certain classes of americans must be prohibited from traveling within their own country. watch this tape carefully, because some day, we're going to look back on moments like in in horror and disbelief. >> i think the administration missed big opportunities this week to tell the american people that we're going to mandate vaccination for air travel in the united states. we're requiring vaccination for people traveling into the united states. why aren't we mandating vaccinations for people traveling within the united states. >> i don't think anyone should be allowed on an airplane, domestic, international or a train without being able to prove they've been vaccinated. >> tucker: ok, so for some perspective here, the last man you just saw is called erwin, he's not a virologist, he's a pediatrician, more importantly, he's a political activist. most recently, he was working as an adviser to bill de blasio. he knows nothing about covid yet there he is on television demanding soviet-style internal passports in the united states. politicians are even worse. congressman eric swallow of california -- he could barely write a deplete sentence, he's literally a moron. his specialty is having unusual sex with chinese spies yet he's, too, calling for internal passports. none is enough for tony fauci. tony fauci is demanding proof of injection before people could enter your home. >> people should, if they invite people over to their home, essentially ask and maybe require that people show evidence that they're vaccinated. >> tucker: stand back and ask yourself what are we watching here? you have 79-year-old joe biden, 89-year-old nanci pelosi tony fauci turns 81 this week, they're running our country with the help of 79-year-old mitch mcconnell. this is the oldest government in our history and the most powerful. we can respect the elderly but you can understand this is not normal. in fact, this is a siphon civilizational decline. these aren't leaders that have personal contact with young people regular ratherlarly. they don't have reds with -- regularly. they don't have kids at home. they're not thinking about raising up the next generation of americans. instead, they're thinking about themselves. covid is a threat to them because they're old. it's not an attack. it's just true. covid isn't a threat to young people. that's also true. they don't care. nanci pelosi feels a chill so the whole country is required to wear a sweater. maybe there's a syndrome here. it's strangely recognizable. but we know for a fact in this country, there's never been a more self-ish and short-sided leadership class. they destroyed the future for millions of young people. how does a child raised in a mask turn out at the age of 35? well, joe biden doesn't care because he's not going to be here to find out but so far the early signs are pretty scary, very actually. according to a study from brown university, "children born during the pandemic have significantly reduced verbal, moat exposerall cognitive performance compared to children born prepandemic." that's our future and we should be very concerned about it. meanwhile, suicide attempts by young girls have risen by more than 50% and yet even that horrifying as it is it's just a small indicator of what is actually happening. for every teen who tries to kill herself, 100 others are living in agony. a new report from the surgeon general finds attempted suicides, anxiety, depression all increased markedly in young people in this country but it's the addiction numbers that are the worst. this year for the first time ever, the number of overdose deaths in the united states passed 100,000. that's up 30% from just last year, it's up more than 100% since 2015. at this point, more americans are dying from drug o.d.'s than are dying from car crashes and gun deaths combined and as with suicide, an overdose is just the end point of a very long saga. an overdose is the final chapter in the world status story, many years of suffering and torment. our lunatic covid policies have caused so much more of this. what people like tony fauci never acknowledge is that addiction is far worse than the coronavirus. addiction doesn't just kill you, although, of course t does, addiction degrades you and destroys the people around you, the very people you love the most. addiction is the worst thing. addiction is a fate worse than death. it steals your soul. any sane person would rather die of covid tonight than spend the next decade addicted to drugs and alcohol. ask anyone who has been. but pelosi biden and fauci and mcconnell don't care. they're completely uninterested in what happens to the young and addiction is a problem of the young. speaking of the young, last month, the "new york post" published photographs of masked school children -- little kids -- forced to eat on the ground outside in freezing temperatures. you're seeing it on your screen right now. what do you make of that? well, here is what joe biden's spokesman made of it. she was fine with it. she approved. >> these are steps schools taking to keep kids safe. the vast majority of parents appreciate that. obviously, we want to get to a point where we're turning to a version of normalcy for everybody, right? where you're not sending your kids backpack with seven extra masks, right? where you're not adding two hats so that they're warm outside for a snack. there's no question that's the case, but we also think the most important thing should be safety, the safety of kids, keeping kids in school which the president is very focused on and some of these steps, creative steps schools have taken have enabled that to be possible. >> tucker: the safety of kids. these people are the danger to children, not covid. but no one is asking the obvious question, what kinds of adults, what kinds of citizens are we creating with masks and social isolation? ever heard a politician wondering about that? no. instead it's full speed ahead in the other direction. damn the destruction it causes. the state of oregon is working to make indoor mask mandates permanent for everyone, including kids. oregon working to put permanent mask mandates in place indefinitely. that's from an oregon headline. here is the new plan "permanent means indefinite. it doesn't necessarily mean permanent." hey dr. orwell, this is lawn nasi. it's destructive and ridiculous and not just happening in oregon. in new york, politicians are saying the very same thing. >> i don't want to go back ever again to that place with people can't go to their jobs safely, can't congregate and kids can't go to schools. that isolation had a devastating effect on the human condition and we're still dealing with the fallout today. so to avoid that situation, i, today, am announcing we're enacting a statewide indoor mask mandate unless a business has a vaccination mandate. >> tucker: so an unelected low i.q. governor of a failing state explains to you in order to reduce social isolation, citizens are required to cover their faces and no one laughs at her or even says a word. you have to wonder what america is going to look like in 20 years. consider the economy that covid restrictions have created. there are a lot more 70-year-old millionaires that there's ever been but there's fewer 25 year old that has ever hope -- 25-year-olds will ever own. the ladder was pulled up and they know it. our elderly political class should care about this. they don't care at all. 68-year-old paul krugman explained on twitter growing inflation is not a big deal, "is there any good reason to believe inflation hits low-income households especially hard?" well, yes, paul, there are, in fact, quite a few big reasons to think about that. look around, dumbo! but he hasn't and he won't. keep in mind this man once won the nobel prize for economics. so what mocking him but imagine what he sounds like to young people? imagine how this sounds to a 30-year-old, someone still living with roommates, someone who is too par to get married, too poor to have kids and start an adult life! there are many young americans in that position. if you wanted to set the stage for a revolution, this is exactly the kind of way you would talk and it's exactly the kind of society you would create. it is deeply unwise! it is also increasingly very cruel. a -- our reaction of covid has brought the best in some but the worst in many and that's sad to see. here is 61-year-old david fromme of the atlantic magazine, a canadian who helped plan the iraq war calling for killing unvaccinated americans, "let hospitals quietly triage emergency care to serve the unvaccinated last." quietly triage. what's that mean? it means let them die! murder them! this is evil! david fromme is an evil man! he has long encouraged violence against the weak! that's the sum of his career. but in this case, suddenly he's hardly alone. many in washington, new york or los angeles are talking like this now. now, these are educated people. they're perfectly aware of the science. the science is publicly available on the internet. at this point, it's firmly established scientifically the so-called unvaccinated pose no threat whatsoever to the vaccinated or anyone else for that matter, period. in fact, the millions who have recovered from covid have greater protection against the virus, getting it, spreading it than those who rely on chemically-induced antibodies alone. that's the science. the science no longer matters obviously we moved past the science to a new stage of this war and it's not about coronavirus. it's about our country, it's about our democracy and above all it's about our future. candidacy owens is the host of candidacy -- candace owens is the host of candace and she joins us now. you're a new mom. our leaders are the oldest they've ever been. they're creating a world that's actively hostile to children. does that -- how do you feel about that? >> i want to be very clear here these leaders we're talking about aren't stupid. they know what -- that these policies don't work they are putting in place the policies because they don't want to beat the virus back. they're evil. they're trying to usher in a new era of america which will give the individuals within their elite political class unlimited power for a very long time. we're seeing that ushered in right now, authoritarian regime that was once free this country is no longer free by any metric would you use to describe freedom. this isn't normal behavior. parents having to fight to have their children go to school and being able to breathe out in the open. that's not a normal conversation for you and i to be having. we shouldn't be talking about what you and i are talking about right now in a normal scenario. when we're talking about masking children, we say why. they have a virtual 0% chance of dying from coronavirus. that's the fact of covid-19. virtual 0% chance yet we're seeing them having to be masked, why? masking someone is a form of dehumanization. we can talk about this more, right? the psychology of dehumanization is happening. why do you want to dehumanize a child? don't let them look at themselves as different or individuals. that's advantageous for a regime that wants authoritarian power. we want them to view themselves as cattle. this is why this is dangerous, by the way and why i was so frustrated with people on the right that i respect so much and people on the left in lock step, being fearful into getting and saying, yes, it's ok for a little bit for the government to lock us down. the reason why i'm so frustrated is because the government never gives you powers that you give it freely. it just doesn't work like that we know this the patriot act, have we not learned our lesson, the temporary patriot act we still have in place? what's also dangerous -- this is the last point, tucker -- people won't lose memory of freedom in this country. it happened from my generation. it's unimaginable to me there was once upon a time when my mom and dad got planes and didn't have to go through tsa. that memory of that sort of freedom to travel i don't remember at all. now you have children that won't remember what it's like to walk into a store and not have to present a vaccine i.d. they don't have to remember what it's like to walk without having to cover your face breathing. america is now beginning to look exactly like china. that's exactly what the people in power want! >> tucker: our parents could raise a family on one income. you can raise your own kids if you wanted. you didn't have to hire people that don't speak english to do it. it was good. we should get back there. i appreciate your perspective as i always do, candace, thank you. >> thank you. >> tucker: illegal immigrants flooding across our southern border at this hour. typically the numbers go down sometime around christmas. that's not the case tonight. phil is on the border with an update, people arrested for crossing illegally. up 235% since october. great to see you tonight. >> it was an incredibly tragic weekend down here at the border. a texas mother and her daughter were going about their day driving when they were slammed into by an accused human smuggler and tragically the mom and daughter both lost their lives. take a look at this. this was saturday down in the rio grande valley in mission, texas. our drone was after the aftermath. texas dps telling us a human smuggler was fleeing from law enforcement when he went right through an intersection and slammed right into a vehicle with that local mother and daughter. tragically, neither of them survived. they were both locals from mission, texas. you can see some of the photos from the crash showing just how violent it was. one of the migrants was launched through the windshield of the smugglers' -- smuggler's vehicle. that smuggler was arrested along with six other illegal immigrants. there's a 59-year-old mother and 22-year-old daughter that were victims. the suspect wasn't arraigned yet. ness the hospital with injuries from that crash. from the rio grande valley from over the weekend, this is our drone shot. a raft dropped off 11 illegal immigrants in texas. these are the runners, not asylum seekers or people looking to give themselves up. they're dressed in all black or camo actively trying get away from law enforcement. it's unclear if they were ever caught. border patrol wasn't there when we were filming this. they showed up later. we saw a man on the mexican side of the river using a rope to pull that raft right back into mexico undoubtedly planning to use it for future smuggling. one last thing we want to show you while we're here in del rio sector. take a look at this video. this was late last night in kenny county. dps troopers work the private ranches down here 10 miles inland from the rio grande. dps is out here, no border patrol. they're hunting for illegal immigrant runners, the people who don't want to turn themselves in, trying creep through in the middle of the night trying to get further into texas. while we were with the texas dps rush team, within a matter of hours, they were catching dozens of people, mostly single adult men that don't want to be caught. texas with the single men aren't handing them over to border patrol. they're arresting them and taking them all to jail for criminal trespassing. back out here live, you mention the numbers, del rio sector where we are extremely busy. last weekend alone, border patrol reporting they picked up more than 3,500 illegal immigrants from 39 different countries, recently including tajikistan, uzbekistan, syria and lebanon. tucker, they're coming from all over the world. tucker back to you. >> tucker: tajikistan, that's healthy. bill melugin, thank you. all over the world, -- make certain laws can't be enforced in order for police not to enforce them. there's one sheriff in of all places los angeles county who has decided to stand up to this trend. the sheriff has a message for the d.a.'s next. next. >> tucker: under pressure, you really learn about people for good or bad, people you thought were smart like david frum wind up on twitter calling for people to be killed if they weren't vaccinated. that's on the down side. on the up side, you learn that a sheriff on los angeles county -- los angeles, a place people make fun of -- winds up being one of the most smartest people in the entire state. he's in favor of enforcing the law, which is his job. he's profoundly upset at the local attorney. he attacked him saying criminals should be prosecuted. watch this. >> my dad used to say when you wrestle with a pig, you both get muddy and the pig likes it. [chuckles] ok? that's not pig in terms of using the term of law enforcement. it's to people that often act in ways that i believe that are not consistent with the decorum, certainly a public official should engage in. >> tucker: so instead of addressing the actual problems in los angeles, you see george gascon attacking the sheriff. he doesn't want to talk about what's happened to los angeles. in his first year as district attorney, l.a. has a record number of car thefts, murders are up 12% -- that seems notable. a lot of people died. the man he was attacking, by the way, as we said is l.a. county sheriff alex villanueva. he joins us tonight to respond. sheriff, thank you very much for coming on. you're a pig says george gascon. how do you respond to that? >> i'm not going to get into the personal attacks. i'm going to focus on performance. if he can't do the job, he needs to get out of office! plain and simple. roughly 12,000 cases in his first year in office that he's not prosecuted that we made the arrests, did the investigation, established all the elements of the crime presented and they said we're not going to special prosecute it at all. that's 12,000 times the crook walked away scot-free. what kind of message is that selling to the criminal community or sending to the criminal community right now and actually 12% -- no, for l.a. county, our jurisdictions, homicides are up over 40% this year alone. that number is just astonishing. grand theft auto up over 25%. the numbers keep climbing and all he's doing, again, like i said, he continues down a failed path. >> tucker: so if you're -- those are amazing numbers. thank you for correcting that. um, if you're a sheriff's deputy or police officer in the city and you joined at not very high and a some great risk in order to make the society better and enforce the law, how frustrating is it to have a prosecutor who won't let you do it? >> well, we're -- i'm constantly trying to keep the morale of my organization up. i tell all the deputies, do not -- don't do your job because someone else refuses to do his or her job. that's what we have right now. that meeting with gascon, that presser, he had all of his woke d.a.'s from throughout the nation there, but not a single d.a. from los angeles county. not a single victim of crime, nobody here locally was going to tell him, hey, great job, boss. thanks for what you're doing. not a single one, because it's been an absolute failure on all counts from the d.a. they're in disarray. they're leaving by the, you know, by the droves from the organization and he's trying to replace the d.a.s with public defenders and the whole crowd is against law enforcement to begin with. >> tucker: that's just one of the saddest things i've seen in a long time but the fact you're still sheriff suggests maybe it'll change. i help to will. sheriff, thank you very much. >> you got it. >> tucker: so if may have -- so you may have come to a conclusion that julian assange stole information from the u.s. government. that's not true. he's a journalist. he embarrassed people who made a lot of unforgivable mistakes. they threw him in a maximum security prison where he's been for more than two years. he's been effectively incarcerate ford much longer than that. there's a big development in that case. julian assange's brother joins us next. the documentary called the "trial of kyle rittenhouse" comes out thursday. get free access to it at tuckercarlson.com. . do you have a life insurance policy you no longer need? now you can sell your policy - even a term policy - for an immediate cash payment. call coventry direct to learn more. we thought we had planned carefully for our retirement. but we quickly realized we needed a way to supplement our income. our friend sold their policy to help pay their medical bills, and that got me thinking. maybe selling our policy could help with our retirement. i'm skeptical, so i did some research and called coventry direct. they explained life insurance is a valuable asset that can be sold. we learned we could sell all of our policy, or keep part of it with no future payments. who knew? we sold our policy. now we can relax and enjoy our retirement as we had planned. if you have $100,000 or more of life insurance, you may qualify to sell your policy. don't cancel or let your policy lapse without finding out what it's worth. visit coventrydirect.com to find out if your policy qualifies. or call the number on your screen. coventry direct, redefining insurance. so here's a fact worth remembering, if you want to think clearly and make wise decisions, you have to use clear and precise language. here's another fact f in fact you want to brainwash and control an entire population, the 1st things you do is ban clear language and substitute with propaganda, nonsensible chunks of words glueden to the together for political effect. in two sentences this is the entire current political landscape. the left understands it, the right does not. consider the term people of color. that's a phrase that would be seemed mildly offensive 20 years ago. now it's mandatory to all levels of society. what's a person of color mean? it's anyone who isn't white. it's the overwhelming majority of the world's population. you have to ask yourself, how exactly is this a meaningful category? what's a polynesian tuna fisherman have in common way bolivia cocoa farmer or for this mat we're kamala harris? not really anything except they're not white. that's a pretty ominous way to define a huge group of people if you think about it. in fact, it's a racist way to define a huge group of people. everyone who is white is not the same and only in an entitled white liberal could believe otherwise. no normal person could ever think that. so let's stop using the phrase. let's not participate. don't use the term people of color. this is the crudest kind of propaganda designed to divide the country by race. so don't say it. what do you replace it with? if you're white, what do you call people that don't look like you. if they're citizens of this country, maybe you call them americans because that's what they actually are. so you probably heard the name julian assange and you probably gathered from all the shouting about julian assange from our political class he's some sort of international spy who hacked our computers and stole our secrets. but that's not at all what julian assange is or has ever been. he didn't hack anybody's computers. he's a journalist. he reprinted facts that were deeply embarrassed to our political class, the democratic national committee and to above all the foreign policy establishment who has an awful lot to be embarrassed of and for doing that, "new york times" has done things like that for 100 years. no problem, julian assange does that, he's been incarcerated for almost a decade since the summer of 2012. he's now for the last two odd years been in maximum security prison in the uk. he could be coming to this country. so what exactly is going to happen next with julian assange and why is no one defending him? gabriel shipton is julian assange's brother and joins us tonight. mr. shipton, thank you very much for coming on tonight. when i say no one is defending him, i mean many people are defending julian assange but no one in the high reaches of american journalism for example. they're silent on this. why do you think that is? >> tucker, they've been able to ignore this case for a while. it's been at arm's length in the uk but just last friday, the uk high court ruled that julian could be extradited. they approved the extradition to the usa. the case is now coming here. julian has the chance to appeal. it was the chief justice, the chief justice of the uk, highest judge in england in -- in wales who ordered the extradition. i think people here -- the media, the government could no longer ignore this case is coming. this criminalization of -- it's basically a the biden administration that's criminalized telling the truth with this indictment it's even worse than that actually. they've criminalized knowing the classified information. so now it's coming to this country, the extradition has been ordered by the high court. i don't think people here could any longer ignore it. >> tucker: you gotta ask yourself, though, and i don't think you live in the united states, but we're in the middle of a crime wave in which many thousands of people have been killed over and above last year's numbers and many more thousands died of drug overdoses. we have a lot of crime problems in the united states right now but the biden administration is very focused on getting his hands on your brother. why is getting your brother more important than say bringing murderers to justice? >> well, i think the people, you know, the people who run our democracies now would like to rule them with impunity them don't want people to know what's been done in their name -- they don't want people to know what's been done in their name. they want to keep secrets them don't want the public -- they want to keep secrets. they don't want the public to be informed. they're making an example out of julian saying to people if you tell the truth about our secrets f you -- if you tell the truth about the security state or anything really, that is what is going to happen to you. you're going to be locked in a prison for the rest of your life. you'll be, your reputation will be destroyed and you'll be taken away from your family. >> i have to ask you a final question which is a depressing question, but i have to ask f your brother is extra -- if your brother is extradited to the united states, do you think he'll survive? >> no, no, i don't. prisoners here can't be kept safe, even the most high-profile prisoners like jeffrey epstein, he couldn't be kept safe in prison. what hope will julian have here? i think if he gets extradited, he'll most likely die. >> tucker: you make it sound like bolivia which makes me ashamed but you're probably not wrong. gabriel, thank you for coming on tonight. appreciate it. >> thank you. >> tucker: so we spent a lot of time covering the many district attorneys, the prosecutor subverted by george soros. one in philadelphia absolutely refused to prosecute crimes. a record number of murders in what was a great city. instead of acknowledging his responsibility for these murders, the d.a. had a total emotional breakdown on camera. we have the footage straight ahead. >> tucker: want to apologize for the depressing line-up tonight looking through the roster. oh, it's a bit much. we want to establish a record of what is going on in this country right now because we think it's worth knowing and remembering. here is something from philadelphia. larry is the d.a. in philadelphia. he set an all-time record for murders in a single year. that's not surprising. that's the whole point. george soros spent $2 million to elect him. he did it because he promised not to enforce the law in the city. he's now embarrassed and says his city is safe. people know it's a lie. he melted down on camera. >> the reality is if you lost someone in your family, on your block or in your community and you're aware of the terrible crisis of gun violence that we have in the city of philadelphia, which is what i said we have a terrible crisis in the city of philadelphia, if you're aware of that and feeling that, it's hard and not acknowledging that pain and suffering, a pain that disproportionately affects people of color and poor people, so for that, i'm truly sorry. >> tucker: so he gets all of these black people killed with these insane policies but then when asked about it, he starts crying because it's really about him and his pain and his suffering, because he's a narcissist like all of them. a former u.s. attorney for the eastern district of pennsylvania enforced the law up until recently. he joins us tonight. thank you for coming on tonight. when you watch that, what's your reaction? >> well, tucker, my first reaction is that his fake crocodile tears are not going to reduce the homicide rate but really, this issue is so much bigger than larry. he's just really a symbol of failed progressive policies and policies that frankly i think are causing a breakdown of civil society. these are policies that celebrate lawlessness, they celebrate rioting and looting. these are policies that replace personal responsibility with a culture of victimhood and they're policies that replace hard work with government handouts and, tucker, that is not the america that i grew up in. those are not the things that have made our country the envy of the world. and i think what we need is a return to traditional values, a return to our roots and that's going to start in elections in 2022. that's why i'm running for pennsylvania governor. >> tucker: i totally am convinced there's going to be a massive and i hope constructive backlash against the moment we're living in, and i very much hope that you're a part of it. it's interesting -- i wish we had more time, but quickly, you connected the decline in the value people place on work and the ability of work to the violence. you sort of put it altogether. you think they are connected then? >> i think they absolutely are connected. and it's a political ideology that the progressives are pushing. it's not based on logic or facts. it's not based on looking at crime rates. it is an ideology that they're pushing, and because of that, they don't react to facts. they don't react to the reality on the ground. it's all about pushing the ideology and krasner is just a symbol of a larger disease, a disease we need to get rid of in this country. >> tucker: yeah, they're not building anything, only the strain. clearly you've been in the middle of it. you learned the hard way what we all know which is they don't care. it's like dogs barking to them. they don't care. bill mcswain. thank you for being on tonight. thank you. >> thank you, tucker, great to be with you. >> tucker: the biden administration is trying to push the country to war with russia. why? they want ukraine to join nato. why is that a good idea exactly? what is the point of nato? almost nobody is asking that question. our guest next asked the question. apparently, by the way, the elves are shipping out christmas presents for all of us. believe it or not, they're residing tonight on tuckercarlson.com. sounds unlikely but that's the word. we'll be right back. we will be right if the go till four with russia -- entity fair, previous of illustrations have pushed ukraine to do. but what is nato exactly. what is the point that nato e after the fall of the soviet union. somebody's asking that question. he's a senior writer at the national review. he's one of the few people who thought about what nato is, that organization our leaders tell us is important. >> my parents left there and i was a terrible place and it's always been a terrible place in most european countries at one point or another and i hate them because they do things wrong and they've been a mess for hundreds of years until recently and their pieces kept by us, instituted by us and really, we still pay for it and we actually shouldn't be any more i think but we still pay in and they get to try to compete with us, the european union is meant to compete with us economically and yet we pay for their safety so i think those are all problems. >> tucker: i didn't even mean to go here but since you brought it up, we have this thing called nato, north atlantic treaty organization, a postwar institution whose purpose has been lost to history. why do we have nato still? >> that's a great question. its purpose was to stop the soviets and to defend western europe from the soviets but now we have germany giving up on nuclear energy and pipelines to russia so why on earth would we pay for germany' they weren't paying their way everyone got really upset about but even barack obama complained about that. it is a cold war relic i think. >> tucker: and it allows the european union, the western european advantage over us economically of course. >> they pay some, but they don't pay what they're supposed to. >> tucker: so it suggests it's the ideas that have come this way from europe for the things that we should be worried about. >> the bureaucracy is overseeing everything we do. before we talk about politics i think americans are risk takers in general, it' in our culture from the very beginning where his europeans are not so it's not as if we's were like europe would be unfre completely or would be like nazi germany, it would be anre insipd place of domicile people who listen to the government all the time even though things seem to be changing in europe as farof s that goes with covid. the policies that are problematic is the undermining of entrepreneurship's, the way people treat life there, just goes on and on. >> tucker: that was a really interesting conversation, it's on tucker carlson today on fox nation, you can watch for free if you go to we are out of time tonight. we will be back tomorrow nightf 8: you know what we are like, we won't repeat it. lnow, americas one and only, the great sean hannity takes over. >> sean: you can say it, sworn enemy of smugness, you are running out o i've got it in for you, that's what friends do. thank you. welcome to hannity. we begin with this fox news alert tonight, the hyperpartisan predetermined outcome anti-trum january 6 committee just voted 9-0 to hold mark meadows and contempt for refusing to comply with their orders and has made many attempts to cooperate. mark meadows will be here to respond straight ahead. also tonight in just moments we will bring the very latest from kentucky and five o
