clinton severe economic sanctions will be imposed if he invades. >> this is the moment for russia to pull back there military buildup at the border. we are going to continue to coordinate closely with our partners on a range of economic sanctions and steps to be taken should president clinton decide to move forward. >> but the kremlin says putin intends to focus the call on a push for a legally binding guarantee that ukraine will not be allowed to join nato is that when imagery shows the massive buildup along ukraine's quarter raising serious concerns among our intelligence agencies. >> we don't believe, we don't know that putin has made up his mind to use force but what we do know is that he's putting the russian military security services in a place where they could act in a sweeping way. >> this as the white house and pentagon dodging questions on the potential for deploying us troops. >> is president biden prepared for the possibility of us military involvement in ukraine? >> i'm not going to get ahead of the president's conversation. >> any discussion about increasing military aid? >> i'm not going to get ahead of decisions the administration may or may not make. >> several republicans are waiting in calling on the president to send letter of the firm message on today's call. >> reporter: what will president biden say in the meeting? >> not to invade ukraine. there are a number of sanctions that could be put in place. >> reporter: among sanctions under consideration can rush off from the international swift banking system would go farther than anything that has been done before. today's college later this morning it is close to the press. >> griff jenkins putting things kicked off on tuesday. >> former right white house chief of staff rights presents says president biden is more assertive this domestic we and on the world stage. >> the famous phrase of ronald reagan, we maintain peace through strength about the other part of that quote is that weakness only invites aggression and when you are weak at home it invites aggression overseas. >> critics say the president has no room for error after badly botching the us withdrawal from afghanistan. president biden needs to nail this phone call with russian president leonard by saying if you step one towing ukraine you are going to pay for it financially on the world stage and he has to do that, he has to really be strong on this front, not just to stand up to our adversaries but also to make sure our allies know we can still be trusted because that was very much called into question after the afghanistan withdrawal when we left our allies behind. >> will he? does he have a resolve to do so? focusing on the military perspective. from an economic sentence perspective that is quite easy to do but to put american troops, brave men and women in harm's way is a different action entirely and if we saw anything, you need to have that threat so the vladimir putin understands that you mean business and i think a lot of us have many questions as to whether or not president biden is willing to do that, if even can do that. afghanistan was such a debacle on the world stage and it called into question our resolve on so many fronts so much so that you have china and russia sitting back thinking america is weak. carley: you have to wonder why russia is considering invading ukraine, massing 70,000 troops at or near the ukraine border but american intelligence suggests the figure could easily reach 175,000 early next year and the word is if president putin decides to invade that will take place in january. china, there is a big question, will they were won't they invade taiwan and why is it "happening now"? these two things didn't happen under the trump administration, say what you want about the president's style but he made it clear to our enemies they are still our enemies and our adversaries and we will be with them every step of the way. todd: this is the big leagues, republicans blasting biden's diplomatic boycott of the beijing olympics urging the president to take action. tennessee senator bill haggerty cited recent experience of chinese tennis star seething in a statement writing, quote, the united states should lead the world in protecting not only our athletes but all athletes from the behavior of the chinese communist party. carley: jen psaki completely dodging any questions related to hunter biden. >> from the chinese investment fund controlled by state owned entities, hoping you could commit to transparency, hoping you could confirm the laptop is authentic. >> the president's son is not an employee of the federal government. no time or interest in exploring or reading the book. >> psaki has alluded to the laptop as being an arm of russian disinformation, the white house has yet to comment on miranda divine's reporting on the laptop. >> dysfunction within vice president harris's office has some questioning the honesty of his staff. the staff are saying in part i work for a vice president harris on behalf of the american people as deputy director for operations and love my job. some of you should know. and psaki pushing back on any reports of bullying saying she did not know if a positive tweet was requested by someone in the vp's office. >> i'm not aware of any asks for a positive tweet or specific tweet was i point you to the vice president's office i work with a number of people in the vice president's office who certainly are looking forward to continuing their jobs. >> this as several high-level staffers exit the office amid reports they do not want to be known as harris people. we will focus on a serious part. >> i want to focus on the tweet. >> look at some of that weeks in response to that, replacing the picture of harris and her husband with a sign of help me. that is the white house we're looking at right now. you saw the full screen of individuals reportedly leaving vice president harris's office and many of those people are going to be going to -- she's almost georgia governor, stacy abrams's office, a picture on the screen again and we will see how this shapes out in the coming days and months. i take harris, you can take the other part, the fact that you have the washington post, no friend of republican policies if you will coming out so adamantly against her, reporting what is happening in her office, called into question her ability to lead, calls into question whether she's right for this job or qualified for this job, if she cannot motivate her staff to stay even when year. >> the washington post we talked about yesterday they spoke to 18 staffers and some of them say it is not just that she was a bully but wasn't willing to put in the work so they would say things like we are propping up a bully for no reason because we are giving her things to read and she is not prepared and yells at us for being unprepared. one of the biggest defenses of the vice president was attacks against her are racist and sexist and you see people criticizing her are in her own house. don't know how you can stand by that line of defense. todd: this is to prop up pete buttigieg. carley: this boils down to the fact the president biden should have picked somebody else. she has very little political experience, 3 years in the senate under her belt, she was a junior senator and she's not a natural politician. she was at a democratic primary, marianne williamson and julian castro. she became vice president because president biden decided to go with the identity politics route and he is suffering the consequences because she is just an unlikable person. todd: embattled x cnn anchor cuomo amid scandal and accusations of sexual misconduct. >> in october. why will you succeed this time. >> beautifully going to succeed this time because we are better prepared. we have a very robust campaign. we also financially prepared which we were not in the previous campaign. truthfully, now people are more aware of the debacle that is being caused by george gascon and is directed so now with people being more aware and clearly seeing the crime wave that is taking place in los angeles county, we all want something done. we are tired of this and truthfully in the last 30 years that i've been in law enforcement i have never seen anything like this, both the combination of the crime wave that we have as well as lack of support for law enforcement. i've never seen it da not enforce the law but fight for criminals. jewish case:'s agenda is just to empower criminals to do what they want to do by not punishing their crimes, by not charging allegations with guns, by not charging crimes that are provable. in the last several months there have been over 5000 crimes, provable crime submitted by the la county sheriff's department of the district attorney's office that have been rejected by mister gascon because of his directive. carley: what home robberies his people in our community are scared to go out and all we ask for us to feel safe in our community, to have safe schools, a safe environment and ultimately for the law to be enforced
