spoke with fox news about how she felt when she heard those five not guilty verdicts. and how the trial has affected her son and her family. we will bring you that interview in a moment. first, to senior correspondent mike tobin live in kenosha, wisconsin. mike? >> and jon, a group came out here to demonstrate against the verdict in front of the courthouse where a year and a half ago demonstrators clashed with police again and again. less than a mile from the location, where kyle rit tone house killed -- rittenhouse killed two and wounded a third, and despite signs that depict rittenhouse as evil, even after a klansman, people came out here armed. i counted four ar style rifles out here, another four pistols in holsters. there was a father and daughter team out here with rifles and one side arm with them. meantime, kyle rittenhouse spoke with our tucker carlson. that interview will air on monday. we have a sneak peek now. >> i tell everybody there what happened. i said i had to do it. i just was attacked. i was dizzy. i was vomiting. i couldn't breathe. >> this case has nothing to do with race. it never had anything to do with race. it had to do with the right to self-defense. >> right. >> i'm not a racist person. i support the blm movement. i support peacefully demonstrating. and i believe there needs to be change. i believe there's a lot of prosecutorial misconduct, not just in my case, but in other cases. and it's just amazing to see how much a prosecutor can take advantage of somebody. >> protests over the verdict in rittenhouse case crossed the line in portland. police declared that a riot, but compared what portland has seen, the recent demonstrations were tame. some smashed windows, one arrest. in places l like chicago and minneapolis, marchers took to the streets. demonstrators complained that the verdict will encourage vigilantes. this latest protest here in kenosha lasted about an hour, no trouble. jon, back to you. >> jon: mike tobin live in kenosha, wisconsin. thanks. tomorrow night you can see more of kyle rittenhouse with tucker carlson, his first interview since his acquittal. you can watch it 8:00 p.m. eastern monday night right here on fox news channel. meanwhile, rittenhouse's mother is speaking exclusively to fox news. her first interview since her son kyle was acquitted on all counts. wendy rittenhouse looks back on the trial and how she felt the moment the verdicts were read. alexis mcadams has that story >> the family tells me this has been an emotional roller coaster for them. rittenhouse's mom talking to me after that verdict before the family left the state, walking me through the tense moments inside the courtroom as she found out her son wasn't going to jail, but coming home. >> it feels like a ton of bricks just lifted off my shoulders. >> for the first time in a year and a half, the rittenhouse family breathing a sigh of relief. the teen now free. >> we the jury find the defendant kyle h. rittenhouse not guilty. >> rittenhouse dropping to his knees, acquitted of all charges. >> is there anyone who does not agree with the verdict as read? >> he was on trial for shooting three men, killing two, during unrest in kenosha last summer. >> you walk into the courtroom there. how were you feeling when you heard the first not guilty verdict? >> once that verdict was read, i was -- i was so relieved for him, and i started crying. my girls were crying. just seeing kyle face and hands just collapsing to the floor. it was just overwhelming. >> the family knows not everyone believes justice was served. >> it's not about winning or losing. there was two people that did pass away, and the families have to grieve. >> during this tearful testimony, rittenhouse claiming he fired in self-defense. >> he does have remorse, but talking to him now, he would never go down there if this ever happened again. >> once the verdict came down, the family rushing out of court due to safety concerns. >> we were running like down hallways, going through elevators. >> what do you see your son's life looking like going forward from now? >> it is going to take time, you know. he wants to go to school. he wants to play with his dog milo. it is going to be different for him because there's going to be people out there who wants to hurt him. it's over. but there's another chapter in our lives. >> as of calls for justice reform continue to grow louder, kyle rittenhouse's family tell me they plan to pursue legal action because they believe the teen was slandered before he ever had his day in court. jon? >> jon: alexis mcadams thank you. the president's social spending bill now heading to the senate where it faces some major hurdles even though it passed the house on friday. david spunt is traveling with the president. he is joining us now live from wilmington, delaware. david? >> hi, jon, good evening. president biden is back at the white house this evening. he got there just a few hours ago, but he spent the weekend here in wilmington celebrating his 79th birthday. as you mentioned, build back better passed the house. now it is on to the senate. >> we will work with every member of the senate on this bill. but i think that because of that work over several months, we really do now have a good understanding of where the consensus lies. it lies in lowering costs for american families. >> republican leader kevin mccarthy who set a record for the longest house speech, eight hours and 32 minutes says it is quite possible the house will have another chance at build back better. >> if it fails in the senate, it dies, but if the senate changes it, any of those changes has to come back to the house, so we have another bite at the apple here, and more people who learn about this. >> for the president, this bill is the seventh large government spending bill since the beginning of the pandemic. now the focus turns to that senate where the margins are even thinner, jon. all eyes are on two moderate democrats, arizona's sinema and joe manchin. >> take a while to go through the senate, probably after thanksgiving. >> president biden has important decisions to make in the next several days, whether or not he wants to replace federal reserve chair powell amid the highest inflation rate in 31 years. the president could reappoint powell to his post or put in an ally, brainerd an economist and someone who has been with the fed since 2014. biden and his family members head to massachusetts to celebrate the thanksgiving holiday when they return to the white house, expect intense negotiations about build back better in the senate. back to you. >> jon: david spunt live in wilmington, delaware. thank you. montana republican senator steve danes is joining us now, who is a member of the senate finance committee as well as the banking housing and urban affairs committee. senator, good of you to be with us on this sunday night. so tell us about the prospect for this social spending bill that just passed the house. what does it look like in the senate? >> well, this is a massive and reckless tax and spending bill. it's as if the democrats are launching cash cannons of borrowed money across our country. it is going to raise the debt by 800 billion dollars in the first five years, at a time -- this is a hyperinflation bomb dropping on the economy. in fact montana families expect to see a 45% increase in their energy prices this coming winter. that's why you see so much opposition to this bill. every single republican, all 50 of us are locked together opposed to it because we've got to protect the families, the working americans who can't afford inflation. inflation is the worst tax at all. those who can afford it the least get impacted the most. >> jon: the feelings seem to be there will be some trims made in the senate, and it will then go back to the house, but do you see any chance of this bill dying completely on the vine on your side of capitol hill? >> i think there is a chance. and the way they're trimming it is what they are doing is they are shortening the time of some of these huge and massive expansions of the green new deal and other entitlements, and by doing so, it is gaming the way you measure how much it costs. that's the way they are trimming it. it is not fair to the american people. many believe who have looked at it honestly, that this bill's true cost is well over 4 trillion dollars. and that's why we need to have an honest discussion in front of the american people, an honest debate, but i can tell you, every single republican opposed to it, we just need one democrat, just one to oppose it and this bill dies in the senate. >> jon: meantime, there's all this talk about the prospect of $450,000 payments being made to the families of illegal immigrants, families as illegal immigrants who were separated from their children when they tried to cross the border during the trump administration. what do you think about that? >> jon, it is absolutely outrageous to think that the federal government, the biden administration would pay $450,000 of taxpayer dollars to an illegal immigrant who is crossing into this country illegally. keep in mind, a gold star family, that's a family who has lost a loved one in combat, they are paid $100,000. to pay an illegal immigrant $450,000, up to 1 million dollars, per family, is absolutely an outrage. it is an insult to the hardworking families of this country. >> jon: americans don't seem to be thinking much of the president's handling of the inflation situation that you mentioned just a moment ago. a cbs news you gov poll just out found these numbers, the president's handling of inflation, 33% say they approve. 67% disapprove. this is inflation. we just put up the immigration slide. maybe we can get those inflation numbers up there. there you go. 33% approve. 67% disapprove. it is pretty rare in washington that you get, you know, two thirds of the american people united that way on one poll. what do you say about that? >> jon, i would like to meet one of those 33% that approve of biden right now. i don't think they have filled up their gas tank lately. this is biden inflation. this has been induced because of these policies that president biden and his team have put in place. they killed the keystone pipeline. they've stopped leases on federal lands of oil and gas here in america. they've launched these cash cannons of trillions of dollars in the economy. that has created this inflation storm that's only going to get worse if this massive bill is passed by the u.s. senate, which i sure hope that we can stop it. but the american people are seeing what's going on here. they are not fooled. >> jon: you talked about the president and his team. one of the people he wants on his team for comptroller of the currency is somebody you had some interesting perspective, clashes with, i might say, on capitol hill. >> well, she was before the finance committee, the banking committee just this last week. i've never seen somebody with such a strong far left -- really a marxist ideology nominated to a position in a presidential cabinet. she has stated she wants to see oil and gas companies bankrupted because of climate change. she wants to see federal government officials be appointed to corporate boards, private sector boards so they can take control of this economy. this is far left marxist ideology, and that's why you're going to see every single republican oppose her nomination. she would have one of the most influential positions to oversee the banking industry in the united states. frankly, it is dangerous. it reflects how far left the white house has gone to think they would nominate somebody who is truly a marxist to oversee the banks. >> jon: it will be interesting to watch. senator, thank you. >> thank you. >> jon: less than 24 hours now of closing arguments in the trial of three white men charged with killing unarmed black man ahmaud arbery. mcmichael took the stand in his own defense last week. charles watson has a recap on what we have heard from the prosecution and the defense so far. >> hi, jon. both the prosecution and the defense will have three hours to deliver their closing arguments on monday before this case is handed over to the jury to decide, and they will certainly have a lot to consider in the killing of ahmaud arbery, including testimony from the man who fired the fatal shots on the stand that travis mcmichael said he was forced to shoot arbery after the 25-year-old attacked mcmichael and grabbed his shotgun. >> it was obvious that he was attacking me, if he would have gotten the shotgun from me, then it was a life-or-death situation. >> throughout trial, the defense for travis mcmichael, his father greg and william roddy bryan say the three men chased arbery with weapons to make a lawful citizen's arrest and it was all predicated on their concerns about property crime in their neighborhood and them thinking arbery may have been armed. the prosecution tried to lay doubt to those claims pointing out arbery was unarmed and ran away from the defendants for five minutes without saying a word to them, and they pounced on mcmichael's claims that arbery grabbed his gun. >> do you remember if he grabbed the shotgun at all? and your response was i want to say he did, but honestly, i cannot remember. >> well i said he did not have the gun at that second, i don't know why, but yeah, that's what i said. >> after the jury gets the case this week, there are some concerns that deliberations could run right into thanksgiving. if that's the case, defense attorney jason sheffield says he thinks the jury will take a pause and then pick up deliberations after the holiday. jon? >> jon: charles watson, thank you. religious organization christian aid ministries says two members of an american and canadian missionary group kidnapped in haiti last month have been set free. the organization releasing a statement earlier this afternoon saying in part, quote, the two hostages who were released are safe, in good spirits, and being cared for. the group of 16 americans and one canadian reportedly abducted by a haitian gang after visiting an orphanage in october. five children were among those kidnapped. it southern mexico, this as groups of migrants continue crossing into the u.s. bill melugin is live along the border in texas for us. bill? >> good evening to you. you pick any day of the week. you come down here to la jolla, you will find activity. it is remarkable how consistent it is out here, and that was certainly the case today. take a look at this video we shot here a short time ago. we were setting up to go live. we had a group of runners come zipping by right behind us in the brush trying to make sure they weren't apprehended by border patrol. about five to ten of them. we put our drone up in the air to start trying to track them. once they zipped behind us, they worked their way through the brush, took off running into an open field where they know border control has cameras and sensors. they took off through the field work were hoping not to get caught -- they took off through the field, were hoping not to get caught, made it on the tree line on the other side. these are runners that don't want to turn themselves in unlike the families. border patrol came out here and caught some of the migrants. there appeared to be a couple of women in the group, mostly single adults. men, though, you will see in part of the video, one of the guys as he was being arrested was sitting down, he was in jolly spirits, laughing, smiling, giving peace signs to the cameras. a lot of these runners get sent back into mexico via title 42 and try again hours later. we see that happening all the time. talking about the family units, take a look at this video, these are the family units we see every day out here. we have seen this every day for the last two weeks, a group of more than 100. these are moms and dads with their kids, and these are the ones who are looking for border patrol, looking to turn themselves in because they believe if they got a kid with them, they will be released into the country. they are coming in from all over the world. yesterday we had albanians, romanians. we have seen them from sri lanka, china, west africa, you name it, they are coming from there. this is a global sort of thing. take a look at these photos out of texas on friday. you are looking at dps and the national guard took down a human smuggler who was using rafts to bring illegal immigrants across the river into roma texas friday night. the smuggler they arrested was a 19-year-old mexican national. and dps tells us he had gotten across 79 illegal ill grants that night alone -- illegal immigrants that night alone. he will be charged with human smuggling. earlier today the attorney general paxton was on fox news, saying the biden administration policies are an absolute disaster down here and it is not getting better any time soon. take a listen. >> we try to help with the national guard. there is still not enough to stop what the biden administration is allowing to happen. >> border patrol just here in the rio grande valley report in the last week, they arrested three members of ms 13, two child sex offenders, and one person who was wanted for sexual assault. more than 160,000 apprehensions across the country on our southern border last month alone. those numbers are picking up once again. if they stay consistent, we are well on track to hit 2 million apprehensions for the calendar year 2021. those numbers don't include the got aways. back to the suspects, but most got away. with more on this shocking activity, we go to christina coleman who is live in los angeles. >> jon, police describe the group of suspects in the most recent massive smash-and-grab incident as a criminal mob. organizers retail crime is a major problem in the san francisco area. just last night, more than 80 people wearing masks ran into a nordstrom store outside of san francisco and came out with whatever they could get their hands on. this happened at a shopping center in walnut creek. police say two employees were assaulted, and at least three people were arrested including an armed suspect. investigators believe the smash-and-grab was a planned event. the night before, on friday, an apparently coordinated group of looters broke into a number of high end stores across san francisco, including louis vuitton, burberry, blooming dale's and several cannabis dispensaries. at least eight arrests were made in what police call a concerted smash-and-grab incident. >> their plan was hoping that we wouldn't be here, but we were. some of them think they got away with it, but i'm confident, i'm confident that there will be more arrests to follow. >> san francisco's mayor recently announced the police department is partnering with local retailers and regional law enforcement agencies to investigate and solve the criminal enterprises fuelling these massive smash-and-grab incidents. >> the message here today is if you come to our city, to commit those level of crimes or to come and to vandalize our to harm individuals, you will be held accountable. you will be brought to justice. >> and it's not just high end stores dealing with all this mess. last tuesday, walgreen's announced it will close five more san francisco locations, citing the rampant theft in the city. critics of how california handles crime blames a state referendum which downgraded property theft to a misdemeanor for stolen items with a value of $950 or less, and former washington, d.c. homicide detective ted williams joins us now. pretty chilling when you hear this kind of news just the week before thanksgiving. what do you make of it? >> yeah, it is chilling and very very unfortunate. but what we know, and as you said, the details at this stage are very sketchy, but from what we've been told, a red suv plowed into a christmas day parade there in that town. there are many injuries. there are allegations, the allegations that i can tell you are unconfirmed, that there was shots fired. but we do know that first responders are clearly on the scene and that law enforcement is very much engaged at this stage. >> jon: again, you know, the reports are a little sketchy, but -- and we have to emphasize these reports only, but the reports indicate as many as 30 people were left on the ground after this car drove through the parade, and there were also shots fired. now, were there shots coming from the car? were there people trying to stop the driver i know you've been there, and situations like this are incredibly difficult to handle. >> well, right now there's certainly a great deal of confusion there on the ground, and that law enforcement clearly are trying to determine what do they have? when i say what do they have, is this something that was accidentally, or was this something that was actually planned? they're trying to work through this. it is my understanding that as you reported that there are individuals who have been injured as a result of this. you know, jon, we live in a very sad world here where citizens of a community just wanted to get out and celebrate with their families the up and coming holiday here, and to find an incident of this nature to occur, i mean, it's just devastating. it's devastating to us in this country, and it's devastating clearly to the individuals there on the ground, but the -- and when you hear the possibilities that shots have also been fired there, you're trying to sort out parade, apparently mowing down some of the spectators, and there are reports that shots were fired from the vehicle. now, again, it's been my experience in these situations that people hear gunshots, and they don't necessarily know where they came from. they might ascribe them to the vehicle that plowed through the crowd, and that very well could be the case. there might also have been shots fired at the vehicle from someone in the crowd who was trying to be a good samaritan and trying to stop the chaos. but 30 people reportedly are on the ground. we don't know the extent of their injuries. 30 people reportedly on the ground in wisconsin, about an hour north of kenosha, after this vehicle, red suv apparently, drove through the crowd, the intersection of west main street and north barstow whether they have actually got the driver of that red suv in custody. if they certainly do have that person in custody, they are trying to determine what was the motive. was this something that we don't know whether the shots were fired at the car or whether shots were fired from the car. let's talk to somebody who was there. jeff is an eyewitness to some of what happened tonight. jeff, what did you see and hear? >> hey, thanks for having me. you know, we were just sitting and enjoying the parade. all of a sudden just out of nowhere, there was a red ford escape that had come by at a pretty high rate of speed, but, you know, some people picked up on -- [inaudible] and he got to a point where the road narrowed. that was probably about half a block away from me, so it was difficult to see what happened past that, but that's where all the police and such came to a stop when they were finally able to get through the rest of the parade and the parade stopped. >> jon: the reports were that the red suv, you call it a ford escape, that it actually drove into the crowd watching the parade. is that what you saw? >> yes. >> and what was the result? i mean how many people hurt? do you have any idea? >> yeah, unfortunately, it was about a half a block from me, so i only know that it looked like there was, you know, so some people on the ground of course. as the police showed up, there was some mention that people had guns drawn and such, and everybody kind of started running away from the scene at that point, so i grabbed my kids and ran from there. >> jon: yeah, obviously, that's the parent's first reaction. you want to get your kids out of there. there are reports that shots were fires. can you confirm shots fired? >> yeah, i did not hear them myself. that said, there was people saying that. with the commotion of everything else going on, it did take a minute for the parade to kind of get their thoughts together and actually stop, so the music was cut off and things like that, so i didn't personally hear them, but i have certainly heard those reports. >> jon: what about the suv itself? did it come to a stop? you say it was about a half a block away from you. did it come to a stop there, or did it continue on and disappear? >> to the best of my knowledge, from the very limited information that i've gathered from scanner traffic and such, it seems like it continued on for a bit. but i don't know much more an that. at that point, i started communication with you. >> jon: all right, jeff, stick with us for a second. i want to recap for people who might just be tuning in. this is live footage you are looking at from waukesha, wisconsin, courtesy wbjt. a holiday parade, christmas parade was underway there, when at about 5:00 p.m., wisconsin time, a red suv plowed into the crowd. there were people just watching the parade, a marching band participating, and this suv plowed into the crowd. there are reports of gunshots fired. whether those were fired at the car to try to stop the driver, or whether they were fired from the car, we don't know. let's get back to jeff. jeff, you said you were there with your kids. this is an annual event in waukesha. people look forward to it. a great holiday time, just ahead of thanksgiving, huh? >> it is. it's actually really unfortunate this year because of course last year's got cancelled due to covid and such, so everybody was definitely excited to be back this year, and, you know, be part of the crowd and get to see everything again, so it is super unfortunate that this had to happen. >> jon: take me back to when you first saw the suv. i mean, you had a pretty good look at it. you said it was a red ford escape. was it on the street that the parade was on? was it on a cross street? where was it exactly when you saw it? >> yeah. by the time i saw it and realized what was happening, it was on the actual street of the parade route. so everything that was, you know, closed off that, you know, all the, you know, vehicles and floats and, you know, bands and such were walking down. >> jon: so it was essentially following the parade and then plowing into some of the people who were in the parade or were watching the parade? >> yeah, and that's a great question. and i can't determine whether or not it was actually the parade members or, you know, the crowd itself. i'm not aware of those details. >> jon: okay. obviously when you -- let's go to ted williams with this question. ted, you know, security at events like this is always critical. you want to try and seal off this kind of a parade route as much as possible. but you can't block every intersection, and you can't, you know, line the street with dump trucks. this could be a drunk driver. it could be some kind of terrorism. it could be somebody who had a beef with, you know, with an ex who was in the parade. we don't know, do we? >> no, we really don't know. i can tell you towns like waukesha and other towns that hold these annual parades, they're ill prepared for a mass casualty event because it's just not expected in these towns. so you always are concerned about incidents of this nature happening. right now, again, we're left to speculate because we don't know very much at what is going on. hopefully, the authorities there will hold a presser pretty soon to kind of let us know, meaning the public what's going on there. we do know that we just had in kenosha, wisconsin, which is not too far from waukesha, we just had the kyle rittenhouse case, where he was found not guilty on all five counts there. and so we're left to wonder if there's any connection between what took place there in wisconsin, with rittenhouse and what is going on here now. there's nothing to show that there's any connection, but it is very concerning, but -- and as you've said, jon, we really -- it's hard to fathom that citizens of this country, going to a parade with their children, just to celebrate this up and coming holiday, and to be mowed down by a car that we don't know whether this was purposely done or whether this was an accident, but we do know that unfortunately, it is being reported that there are some individuals who were actually injured as a result of this incident. >> jon: yeah, and it's not surprising, given what apparently has happened here. let's get back to jeff who witnessed at least part of the tragedy there unfolding in waukesha, wisconsin, a car plowed into the crowd watching a christmas parade. jeff, it's reported that this took place at the intersection of west main street and north barstow street. where were you in relation? were you on one of these streets? >> i was about a half a block away from the intersection. >> jon: okay. that's the intersection where this car apparently plowed through. >> yeah, i was probably about a half block east is where i was. so -- yeah. >> jon: the parade was winding down at this point? >> i believe that it was getting towards the end. there's usually a realty van with like a hot air balloon that, you know, gives us some heat in the cold winter of wisconsin, and usually that little bit more than halfway through i feel, but -- so yeah, i couldn't tell how much was left at the end, and by the time we were all able to gather and meet up, you know, the rest of the parade had disbanded so i couldn't tell how much was left. >> jon: i mentioned earlier all eyes were on wisconsin this week after the kyle rittenhouse verdict was read on friday in kenosha. did that have tempers flaring ate all in waukesha? were people, you know, saying much about that? okay, we just -- i just want to tell our viewers what they just saw. this is actually a feed from the city of waukesha. they were putting the parade video on a live city camera of some kind, and we just saw that red car go speeding, a ford escape, as jeff was just telling us, a red ford escape just went flying down the middle of the parade route, and apparently crashed into a number of either parade participants or parade goers. again, this is happening right now in waukesha, wisconsin. we don't know anything about the reason for it. was it a drunk driver? was it some kind of terrorism? we don't know. but you can see there in the video feed from the city of waukesha, the red suv goes flying up the street, and perhaps we can -- there it goes. that's the one image we have of the red ford escape. as the parade is still very much underway, and you can see -- you see the police officer running after the suv. you see some of the other parade floats, the jeep is still continuing on with the parade. obviously a whole lot of, you know, stunned people and people not really sure what was going on. let's get back to jeff who saw at least some of this. jeff, you're probably not able to see that video feed that we just showed, but there goes the suv speeding through. all right. we are reaching the end of the hour here. i apologize, jeff, for not being able to get back to you. i'm jon scott, live in new york. we will continue to follow the events happening right now in waukesha, wisconsin, and keep you updated as best we can. >> good evening we begin with fox news alert, we're following breaking news out of waukesha, wisconsin, there are witnesses reports a vehicle ran through the middle of a down town christmas parade as it was on going, possibly firing gunshots, there are reports as many as 30 people may are injured. fire and police are on the scene, calling it an active incidence. we'll keep you updated throughout
