So now knowing that pfizer says 511 years old School Age children, they think this Vac Aoepb will be ready for them with fda approval. Could you support a mandate for that Age Group for the vaccine . Well, first of all, lets say this is good news. Its still a press release. Pfizer has to submit their data for scrutiny. What they said today looks really good. Its one third dose of the vaccine gives an Antibody Response thats equivalent to what you see in 1625yearolds. So were on the right track. The Side Effects seem to be quite reasonable. But lets be clear. Fda will review this. Theyll have to have an advisory committee. Theyll have a public meeting. They want all the data out there for people to see. The dose will be twodose regimen and it will be three weeks apart followed by two more weeks to make sure it is fully taken. Kids in the 511 Age Group arent going to be fully immunized right away. Its going to take some time. All the more reason we have to be careful about kids in school. As far as the mandate, we havent done that for older kids. It will be up to parents. I sure hope parents, seeing the data, having the chance when the fda has a public meeting, say this is something i want for my kids to keep them from getting sick and keep our schools in the place they need to be.
