No residents were injured, and the plane did not directly hit any buildings, but it did cause some damage to at least three homes, displacing some families. There are more than 50 officers out at the Carlton Reserve right now searching for Gabby Petitos boyfriend Brian Laundrie, as the search stretches into a second day. Nearly half a dozen agencies including the fbi are assisting in search using drones, atvs and k9 units hoping to pick up brians scent. Authorities have a lot of ground to cover, arthel. The Carlton Reserve is some 25,000 acres filled with tough terrain. On top of that, search crews are facing wet and muddy conditions in the vast nature reserve. Additionally, police tell us they are also working on getting Tracking Data for brians cell phone, but its not clear how far theyve gotten in that effort. Earlier in the week North Port police sounded pretty confident in knowing brians whereabouts. It wasnt until friday when his parents reported him missing that authorities learned he hadnt been seen since he left to go hiking at the Carlton Reserve on tuesday. But there are a lot of questions about how the 23yearold was able to slip away. Brian was not going to speak with us, he would not speak with us. So knowing that, we werent dedicating a whole lot of resources to following around someone who is not wanted on a crime. Our focus was finding gabby. Once she realized what she had, she shared it immediately. I asked schmidt about this news, he told me hes hopeful that the van is possibly theirs. Theyre focusing on this Campground Area and then are they moving out in a Group Search of some kind . I would assume so. They have a pretty large area that goes back into some pretty dense forest area, some pretty rugged terrain. Reporter now, i want you to look at this. We grabbed still shots of the dashboard of the couples van both from the Body Cam Footage of the widelycirculated Traffic Stop on August 12th and of this new van sighting, and you can clearly see what looks like Gabbys Hat in the same spot on the dashboard. Its another strong indication that this could be the van. Law enforcement has the Area Hut down to the public while shut down to the public while they investigate this rugged terrain, and schmidt says they continue to ask anybody whos been in this area to look for photos for this example. He remains A Person Of Interest, but now that Brian Laundrie has an attorney, is he protected from speaking with investigators . Can he refuse to be interviewed by police . Great question, arthel. He can. He does have a constitutional right to refuse to cooperate with authorities. Thats been the entire frustration through the entire process. Heres someone, Brian Laundrie, who returns on september 1st, lawyers up and suddenly two weeks later when its clear that Gabby Petito is not with him, not in the home, is missing, their family then puts in a missing Persons Request for authorities to find her, and hes completely tightly sealed, not cooperating, familys not speaking, hes lawyered up. He is really allowing his lawyer to speak for him, and what we know so far is that the lawyer has said that that upon advice of counsel, Brian Laundrie will not cooperate. At this point there is no crime, this is still a Missing Persons with respect to Gabby Petito and now, of course, brian, but The Focus is if there are going to be any criminal charges, Theres Nothing so far they that can hae authorities bring the charges. Once brought, of course, they can try to compel his cooperation. But at The End of the day, he has the right to continue to refuse to cooperate. Arthel but in your experience, i mean, why would A Person Of Interest need an attorney in the disappearance of his girlfriend if he has nothing to hide . Well, thats a great question. Isnt that . Thats the million Dollar Question right there, arthel. Of course, if he has nothing to hide, it seems logical that he would come forward and say, look, i dont know what happened. She stepped away from the van, next thing you know i couldnt find her. But not a single word. And, frankly, the family Gabby Petito was living with brian and his parents. Brian laundrie shows up by himself, and no one in the home is saying where east gabby . Maybe we should contact authorities . Arthel right. The Petito Family after being desperate to look for gabby, suddenly they put the Missing Persons report in. And thats interesting, and were not trying to prosecute anyone here, im just asking the question, does anyone run the risk of being an accomplice to Brian Laundrie or aiding him in any way, and is that prosecutable . It is. I mean, if Theres Evidence at some Point And God willing we find Gabby Petito alive and well, shes just lost in that national park, we dont know. But if Theres Evidence to demonstrate that she, in fact, lost her life and there somehow can be tied to Brian Laundrie, then anybodyinvolved in impeding the, obviously, the investigation by the authorities, impeding speaking to the authorities, any of that, they can be brought up on separate charges as well. August 25th, she speaks with her mother on the phone. August 27th and 30th, Text Messages from Petitos Phone to her mother. September 1st, Laundrie Returns to North Port, florida, in the Camper Van without petito. September 10th, Police Respond to an incident involving Petitos Father at laundries home. No charge filed. September 11th, e Petitos Family reports gabby missing. September 14th, laundrie last seen by his parents. September 15th, Police Name Laundrie as A Person Of Interest in petitos disappearance. September 17th, Police Visit laundries home and learn he has not been seen since tuesday before that visit. September 18 police begin searching florida Wildlife Reserve for laundrie. The fbi narrows down the search to the campsite in grand teton for petito. Mercedes, listen, by now this search, as we know, it spans across multiple states. Where might this investigation into Gabby Petitos whereabouts and Brian Laundries Case Go from here in. Well from here . Well, thankfully if, Law Enforcement kudos to to them theyve really used all their resources in trying to find both of these individuals. This will be searches and, obviously, theres a search in the national superb in florida looking for Brian Laundrie. What weve seen so far at least its being reported that theres been from the laundrie home, maybe thatll have some clues. The van was confiscated and, apparently, searched. Obviously, theres going to be any they lived in the vanishing so theres obviously going to be evidence of Gabby Petito being in the van. Not sure if theres any evidence of anything beyond that, and, of course, the search will continue for gabby in the teton national park. But it really will come down to forensic evidence, perhaps, because if they do find any forensic evidence of either of these individuals, Brian Laundrie and a lot of people fear that maybe he will take his life. Of course, it seems pretty suspicious that hes missing for three days and his family doesnt even report it to the authorities until three days after hes missing. And well have to see if any forensic evidence is found in teton national Park Thatll give us some evidence as to what happened to gabby at The End of the day. It was 15,000 about yesterday morning, it has dropped to about 12,600 as Border Patrol says theyre trying to get as many people out of here as possible. Again, you can see just how large, just how expansive this camp this is has developed over the past several days. Consider on wednesday this was just about 4,000. The migrants were milling about everywhere, sleeping on the grass, most of them sleeping in the makeshift shelters that theyve built here. But again with, a lot of the people who have showed up here are hoping that theyll have a chance to stay in the united states. Part of the reason why there are so many people, so many migrants under this bridge is what we witnessed yesterday. Take a look at this shocking piece of video exclusion arive. We went out on a boat on the Rio Grande yesterday, and we witnessed hour after hour after hour hundreds of migrants streaming into the united states illegally across the river just walking in from the city across, hundreds at a time, and this happens literally all day long until Texas Dps surged a bunch of troopers and was finally able to put a stop the it. And what are the End Goals then for North Korea out of that . Well, the End Goal for North Korea has always been to take over South Korea. And clearly, the way they see this going is with nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. They want to be able to intimidate the united states so that we wouldnt come to the rescue of the south, and thats why they have these intercontinental ballistic missiles which really have no utility for the purpose of an interkorean war. This is the most militant regime on earth. We shouldnt be surprised they want the worlds most fearsome weapons. Benjamin is it fair to say the administration is following strategic patience . Were not going to do much, were just going to wait for them to crumble under the sanctions which havent worked over the last few decades . Yeah. Strategic patience really was the policy of the obama team. President trump had very, very different programs. He had, actually, two of them. One be tough and is one be nice. And if that is true, what do you want to see the administration do . Youve said in the past that no u. S. Administration has ever really held them to account, but how could the u. S. Administration be tougher on china visavis North Korea . We have a lot of leverage right now, benjamin. Inside china right now, theyre on the edge of a debt crisis. Their economy has stalled out. Theyre got a food crisis. You name it. Right now what the united states should do, regardless of the situation in china, is to hold china to account. Its openly violating sanctions with these trades with North Korea, and theyre doing their best the stall the work of a 1718 committee, thats the Sanctions Committee in the u. N. This is just unreasonable, unjustifiable, and weve got to stop them. And if we dont stop them, then we really cant say were serious about North Korea. And, by the way, we need to be serious about North Korea.
