And were going to make sure that our Law Enforcement has a resources and the support that they need and good paying jobs. Law and order is one of the hottest issues in wisconsin because the escalating violent crime is spilling over into communities that have never been known for this type of violence. And when you talk to cops in the state of wisconsin, they say it is because there is no support for Law Enforcement in these big cities. And Tony Evers is the failed leader among leaders. Good morning to you, Janice. Janice good morning. We are with tracy cantey, thanks for being here. Tell me about your dad and how much he loved this boat. Well, my father was a lieutenant in the Fire Department for 37 years. And he spent his last five years on this Fire Boat. And he just loved it. Loved bringing people on tours. Loved welcoming dignitaries for boat rides. Janice tell me about what he was doing that day almost 20 years ago that. Morning he was off, as soon as the planes crashed into the tower he voluntarily decided he needed to come down and he called me and each of my siblings and my mom and he said that he didnt know when he would see us again but that he would do his best to come home and we didnt see him for three days. Janice oh. Tell me about this boat. How miraculous it was that basically brought the water in to Lower Manhattan . Yeah, the boat went into action as soon as the first plane hit. And it first started with rescuing people from the Sea Wall and bringing them over to New Jersey. It went back to the Sea Wall and started to deliver water to the pile because all of the infrastructure under the Trade Center had collapsed. It was the only delivery of water that was available Pumping It from the Hudson River. Janice tell us about the boat now. Its retired but you are hoping to educate people. Yes. Its retired. Its being restored. A lot of work has been done. We have amazing volunteers put a lot of hard work and heart. There is more to be done. We are opening as a museum this weekend so that people can visit. Janice your dad is no longer with us. He died from 9 11 related illness from being at the pile. What would he think about the Boat Today . He would be so happy and proud and its not just about him. Its about his brothers, too. And just this important piece of new york. We are honoring all of those we lost and all those who lost Loved Ones. Steve that includes thousands of kids who lost their parents on that morning 20 years ago this saturday. Ainsley we had the opportunity to speak to two men who were just 11 years old, theyre twins, on 9 11. Mike and Dan Frieden lost their father andrew in those attacks. I also spoke to their mom lisa andys widow. They are inspiring family. They have adopted the idea of triumph over tragedy. Watch their story. Go to daddy. Say hi, everybody. [cheers] just the most outgoing apropos always had a smile on his face. Hi. He was an amazing person and more importantly an amazing father. Hey, daddy. He was just the best dad. He was everything to us. Our coach, our role model, our hero. Your dad was a great man, a great coach, and a great father. He was always willing to help out. He was a big man with a big heart. My husband was kind of a larger than life person. Im 61, he is 65. He made me laugh. Had a really good sense of humor. Round of Applause Randy and lisa. He was a really great guy. You know, they only say only the good die young. Ainsley on the morning of September 11th, 44yearold Andrew Freidman went to work in the tower of the World Trade Center. He had just started a new job there only two weeks before. Ainsley tell me about that morning, that day. Typical day. He went to work. I went to work lisa, doesnt andy work in the World Trade Center . I said yeah. She said there has been a terrible accident. She called me. This is my Phone Bill. These were all the calls on 9 11 at 9 16 as i said there was incoming call. I pick up the phone. Im in shock. And its andy. And he sounded fine. As you would expect him to. He didnt want to alarm me. Is he like lisa, we are all together, we are all in a room. We have plenty of air. I didnt say anything. I said i love you. This they returned to me about eight months after 9 11. This is my Husbands Credit Card that they found in one piece. Andrew keith freidman. One minute youre going to school, being a kid, having fun, goofing off, whatever, and another minute later your dad is killed in one of the most horrific events in our history. Ainsley what has the last 20 years been like for you all . Whats been the biggest challenge not having a dad . We always hear or see on Social Media that never forget, never forget. That might be for some people 20 years they dont forget about it for us every single day. Not a single day goes by we dont think about our dad. Ainsley right after 9 11 you met with a grief counselor. Yes. Ainsley what was her advice. If you take whatever you are feeling and try to do something good for somebody else, it will make you feel much better. And on that Friday Focus on the 14th, i think. We went into the city and rented a van and filled the van with socks because the first responders, i dont know if you will remember they were asking for dry socks. Ainsley i have heard people say god is the only one that can see the future. You are handing out socks and it ended up turning into a business. To us socks have always represented hope for your family. We didnt know at the time that it was going to be the foundation for the business that we were going to start 15 years later. Ainsley in 2017, the brothers founded tall order. A company that makes unique socks for tall men like themselves. Their dad, and athletes like Shaquille Oneal and john sally. We also do make small sizes. Our motto is about fit to stand tall. So when people think of tall order, its not just for tall. Its for all. Ainsley its a company that gives back to organizations like tuesdays children and the feal good foundation, charities that have come to the aid of the families and victims of 9 11. We knew it was a, quote tall order to pay back to those that helped us and then pay it forward. He could speak to the boys what do you think he would say. Oh my gosh. Ainsley about where they have come over the last 20 years . I know he would be extraordinarily proud. I believe is he watching everything we are doing and very busy making sure that everything goes the right way. I know our dad is watching down on us and looking on us and being our guiding light. Dad, we love you, miss you. We always know you will be with us for the rest of ours lives. Ainsley i mean, what a remarkable family. The giants played the broncos the night before. The boys watched all the sports games with their dad. And dad would say all right, the game is running late. Boys, you have got To Go to bed. The they did. The next morning he left a note in their room telling them who won the game if their team had lost. The boys remember that they said he was a remarkable coach. He coached all these little kids on long island. You can relate to that. Brian Yup Ainsley drive them to practice. Always the Kids Coach and playing the baseball with them. They were a remarkable family. They were such a tight unit. Lisa said she was supposed To Go out that night with her girlfriends and they canceled it and they did a Family Night together. She is so grateful for that memory. Her name is lisa freidman clark. When i walked in i said lisa, when i sought double name im hoping you found love again. She said i am one of the most fortunate women because i have found two loves of my life. They have a wonderful stepdad. And the boys just adore him as well. So, you know, and they are giving back with tall order. Tall order. Com. They have socks for every size. But they really started it because they are so tall. 69 and 611. Thats right we are getting reports that some westerners are allowed to leave afghanistan. The numbers been shifting a little bit were hearing between 100 to 150 there was 200 earlier this morning that was the report were still waiting to get a better idea of whose leaving and how many americans are on the list and whether we see more flights going forward. A spokesperson in qatar this morning was saying they believe the people leaving all had valid documents and this was more of a free movement of foreign and local passengers, and that they believe more flights will be going out tomorrow. The White House is still facing a lot of pressure even from some democrats to ensure americans in afghanistan can still leave. My colleagues, Peter Doocy asked yesterday with terror suspects running the afghan government how the u. S. Can ensure those same americans can get out what we are working to do is to engage with them, because they oversee and control afghanistan right now, to get american citizens, legal permanent residents, as sib applicants out of afghanistan. We have to engage with them. Reporter we know next week the Secretary Of State hes going to be testifying before congress on all things afghanistan, but some lawmakers say they are worried right now about pressing national security matters when they have been getting reports so many afghan evacuees are leaving the holding facilities they have here in the united states. Theyre letting them leave. They can catch an uber and actually leave the base. They dont know exactly how many are even there, so they Cant Account for someone if they dont return. Brian they have tickets and everything. Steve they have tickets and boarding passes it sounds like this was predestined although there was such a 180 yesterday because we had heard they are going to be allowing the taliban was going to be letting people out yesterday. Then its like okay, the taliban just announced, according to tony blinken, they arent going to allow anybody out which should not surprise us, because our partners in this are terrorists, now, its been revealed that apparently, those people who had the tickets on the airline will leave. We have no idea whats going to happen to those people with those six charter jets up north of kabul. We dont know when they are ever going to get to leave. We just know the White House said a couple weeks ago theres nobody stranded although it sure looks like they are stranded. Those planes, where are they going and what if there are terrorists on the planes then they can go to mexico and come through our Southern Border if they arent allowed to come to america. Janice good morning, ainsley. Thank you for being here. Lt. Tom sullivan, lt. Bill ryan, and marine engineer jim briety, i thank you for coming today. Tom ill start with you tell me about this amazing boat. Good Janice'>Morning Janice i worked on the boat for 10 years, it was located at the marine company on 14th street in the Hudson River and we covered the Hudson River from the battery up tongers was our initial response area. What happened that day . It starts like any other new York Story it was a beautiful clear tuesday morning. Our Shift Changes around 9 00 so there was still some guys around the Fire House and about 20 minutes in we heard an explosion and then a minute or two later second alarm, World Trade Center and stepped outside the Fire House and looked down at the Trade Center as you can see the big hole in the north tower, and within minutes we said lets get down there. We had a couple extra firemen, and because it was a Shift Change it was guys hanging around, jumped on the boat so we had our normal crew was seven, we had nine crew members that day. Responded down to the North Cove Marina area and tied up. Janice bill you were with rescue three. How did you know they were saving you . Kind of didnt. We were conducting searches during the later in the afternoon that day, and we headed towards west street where we came from and that was fire and the beams were hot and we could see 21 to the east of us a little bit and it was Fire And Smoke and just really no options on the way out. We got Radio Contact with my captain at the time, and we basically said looking at the building where we basically were and we said were kind of out of options, and he said okay, we got these guys, jim and tom and the whole crew stretched a line off the boat across to west street however long that is, thats like super human effort and then the guys were putting fire out to get to us and im like all right, this is where we are, if we dont make it, this is our best location, and we could kind of hear the hose after a little while and pretty much, we couldnt really call out anymore, just because of everything in our face and i remember coming to the hose and its saltwater or whatever but you just put it in your face just to clear your face, but i was the benefactor of their efforts, the boat and jim Jordan And Tom particularly and all six of us in that group would not have done well that day if we didnt hook up with the boat. Janice jim, what do you remember on that day . The most thing that comes to my mind was when i actually walked up and actually seen the towers down, it was an unbelievable sight. It was something that there were fires everywhere and it was very shocking to see something that you would never believe that would happen ever here in the city or any place else and it was something that you think about all the time. You think about like wow cant believe that happened. Janice 20 years, you know, and i thank you for being here and thank you for your service. There was something special about that day because it was terrible, but people came together to help one another and i hope everyone remembers that on this 20 year anniversary. Thank you all.
