The 53yearold Attorney telling multiple outlets that murdoch was traveling to charleston and had some car trouble. Its really hard we dont have information here but its hard to imagine that this is random. Alicia, you know, we are dealing with a real life Murder Mystery here. As you said, three months ago Maggie And Paul murdoch were found murdered by the husband or Alex Murdoch who was yesterday allegedly changing a tire by the side of the road and was shot in the head and expected to recover. This investigation has been going on for three months and theres so many unanswered questions. For instance, Alex Murdoch, was he actually involved, was Someone Else involved . Did paul, who also was shot and killed, what was the circumstances . Because paul in 19 in 2019 had been charged in the death of a young lady by the name of miley molly beach, a real Life Mystery Murder going on in South Carolina right now, alicia. Griff let me jump in. You and i have covered dozens upon dozens of Murder Mysteries and i was covering the murdoch murder, Double Murder in june. But back in june the state Law Enforcement division, sled, South Carolinas version of a state fbi, they did not release a motive in the Double Murder, they did not name persons of interest, and they made no arrests yet they assured in a public statement that the community was safe. Do you believe now, whatever the circumstances are behindal a exs shooting, will bring to light perhaps some of what we havent learned from three months ago . Yeah, griff, youre right on target. I think sled knows a lot more than theyve actually released at this stage. Theres no doubt about it, and i am clearly not saying that this man is involved in these murders, but Alex Murdoch seemed to be the center of the investigation at this stage. And again, found Maggie And Paul dead and then by The Way, griff, two different weapons that were used. One was a shotgun and one was a rifle. And it leads me to believe that there very well may have been two individuals involved in that murder. But now weve got Paul Being found, griff, by the side of the road here and a remote Road And Someone was alleged driven by him, 24 hours and then shot him in the head. Theyre going to be looking closely, again, at alex. Was he a target . Was he actually just a random situation or was this a selfinflicted Gunshot Wound . These are the mysterious questions here. As Charles Watson was reporting, three generations of involvement in this family in the state solicitors office, the ebbing vent of the Das Office so theyre very connected in Law Enforcement. What gets lost in all this, who gets lost in all this is 19yearold mallory beach. In 2019, shes the young woman that was killed in the Boating Accident. Youre right about mallory beach. Theyre reopening a 2015 case where a young man was found dead alongside the road and they were somewhat that young man had some connection with the murdoch family. Also, the Murdoch Housekeeper was supposedly allegedly slipped and fell and she also died and Alex Murdoch wound up allegedly settling that lawsuit. But theyre still running into a lot of problems that could take weeks or even months until they see lights or ac flipped back on. Hurricane ida damaged more than 30,000 power poles, more than hurricanes katrina, Zeta And Delta combined. Folks have to rely on the goodwill of others to get ice, water and food. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards addressed those challenges in the latest news conference. Electricity is one of the biggest challenges we have across louisiana. Depending on the damage to the infrastructure, the transmission lines, the Distribution Lines and the generation capabilities, theres not an even rate of restoration going on. Good news, unemployment ticked down a little bit. Bad news, the Jobs Report did not deliver. What does this tell us about the economic recovery . It tells us its more precarious than we had hoped in june and july where about A Million jobs were produced each month and now its a fifth of that. So theres a lot of cause for concern and theres additional cause of concern because the government is still paying out enhanced Unemployment Benefits in many states, about half of the states, and thats going to end tomorrow. So the question is, will a lot of workers who are currently still not taking jobs and everywhere you go you find People Business owners complaining that they Cant Hire enough people, they cant find people to hire, so when these unemployment Benefits End, will those people now get back in the workforce or not . Its a huge question. Griff its a huge question and it is perhaps ironic that the Benefits End on Labor Day itself. But let me ask you, because youre hearing already calls by some to extend those enhanced Unemployment Benefits. Do you think if they were to do that, it would impact the recovery . Well, it certainly would. But i will say that this idea that paying enhanced increased Unemployment Benefits keep people from going back to work, thats not a new idea and a number of states have stopped it already, more than 20 states have stopped it already. And when they did, they did not see this rush of people back into the job market. So i think that a lot of economists are a little baffled right now by whats going on. I mean, we have millions of jobs open now and about an equal number of millions of people who are out of work now and why cant those match up . Why arent those people going back to work . Did something change fundamentally in either their finances or their attitude to work or their own lives during the last year of of the pandemic. We dont really know. But its Theres Supply Chain problems and thats because people are having a difficult time hiring enough workers. There are problems in restaurants, service industries, sales, theres problems everywhere because people are having employees are having a hard time finding enough people to hire. Griff you really put your finger on something, byron. Restaurants and bars took a hit, down 29 , i believe. The Leisure Industry which we watch so closely was essentially flat, zero net new jobs. The administration has gotten due credit for Recovery Efforts the last six months but is this becoming with the new Delta Variant and other covid concerns is this becoming a possible Midterm Concern for them . It absolutely is. If you look at the new polls, including the new Abc Washington Post poll out today, President Biden is underwater in the Job Approval of his handling of the economy. It can clearly be a political issue. Now, the president in his remarks the other day tried to make it sound like everything was really okay, it was just that this was all because of the Delta Variant and it would get better soon. But the problem here, politically, is that while were discussing these problems of people not going back to work or their unemployment Benefits Ending, we havent even talked about inflation yet which is a big threat. A lot of democrats, as a matter of fact, all the democrats on Capitol Hill are talking about trying to pass this big 3. 5 trillion spending bill.
