War is officially over. The War In Afghanistan is officially over. As skwrep from said the last american airplanes of u. S. Troops have left and Tal Boone in control of the airport. There are americans still there and the State Department will work to get remaining americans out. We take this around our table, first. Poet, have served. This must be filled with a lot of different emotions. Yes, its almost surreal to see that banner at the Bottom Right will. America ends war on n. Afghanistan. Setting aside all of the criticisms i and all others have im very glad every one of our boys at this point is off of that airfield. Off of that Kill Zone and that x. You can talk about what was miss Man Amed and the future. We will talk about that. People Left Behind, the legitimate Terror State that is this. Ultimately i tip my hat to the pentagon using a he will ppt of surprise, moving earlier than many thepg they would and getting all of our boys back. Its not been a smooth process. We have lost 13 american lives. Almost two dozen additionally wounded that wont be forgot not. Its a good thing were not a target now. Greg. Agree with Everything Pete said. Thats it for me. No, really its a relief to know its over. We know its not. Yes. Urplts we know the analysis is not over. If that was over i would be out of a job. Its weird when you hear its a new afghanistan the same day you hear they executed a folk singer. There are other elements out there. Then you have conflicting stories about whether Isis And Taliban hate each other why did they release the isis people from prison. I dont understand that. The demilitarization and the weapons. I think The Real Thing now is who is going to be accountable for the big botch that. Is what this is. This was the big botch. And its actually oddly a blunder made of smaller blenders. I dont know if its all joes fault. It sure feels that way. Hes the guy at the top. Did taliban Offer Control of the airport and we decline that . Thats a huge blunder. Its paled by other blunders. You can go through them and through them and find them. Think aeuz important thing to look at. I dont think its as rosie as it will look the next Couple Fl weeks. And beyond. Geraldo, you were there many times and covered many war zones. Not covering many ends. You know i was not here on the five last week. So, i want to express how Gut Wrenching and heart wrenching those deaths were. How that affects everything including my analysis. Even though it was a incident it was more than that. It was symbolic of so much. Delving into the thirteen who died, and the two of them being women, the Navy Corman from where i live in ohio, and five of them latinos of the thirteen. So proud of them, loved them so much, so pained by their death. The stunning end of this war is something that is really shaking me to my core. It is an amazing thing. Twenty years its been a big part of my life. Its why i came to fox news. All of us have a personal affect of this, this story and this trauma. We left with honor. I have to say. The services performed magnificently. If the taliban bodyguards are been better, the line had held and the thirteen had not been killed we would of forgiven President Biden already for the mismanaged bungled evacuation at the beginning. Im delighted they demilitarized the aircraft. Making them inoperable and unusable. What was Left Behind are small arms they already. The threat of the home land. I am of the school we have the capability to strike if we see them coagulating again. I think isis is very low tech now. As a father with a daughter in paris in 2018 with the Attack Killing over 150 french people it doesnt take a lot of technology to create a lot of harm. I think sadly thats in our future. We have the violence in our future. We have to guard against it. God bless tas and the rest of them. Im personally relieved the war is over. Katie, General Mckenzie said there is a lot of heartache with the departure. The americans, they say 250 americans. The numbers are hard to get and the special immigrant visas, interpreters and others helping in the war. I talked with a marine friend who talked about what happens when we left. He agreed we have to leave. He says once the lights are off and the cameras are not rolling its Midevil Beyond what people can see. Looking at The End of the war, i flash back to 9 11, how we got here. I was 13. A lot of my friends went and served their country. Thank you to them for all they lost and sacrificed for our country. You know we knew it would happen. Its the reality of it, its a lot to take in and process. Im deeply grateful for all of The Americans that put it all on the line including the 13 last week to keep us safe. We add our voices to that and lift them up and their families. Jennifer has been with us at the pentagon reporting. Incredibly well, jennifer, through the war. Lets get your thoughts as this has come to an end on August 30th. Euplt dane a i came out of the Pentagon Briefing where General Mckenzie said the planes have cleared military air pace. Last Flight Out was general donahue and the ambassador, State Department Pugh Od leaving Hand And Hand with the american flag on the last Flight Out. Heartbreaking images in terms what had General Mckenzie had to admit. They did not get every her out that wanted to leave. He mentioned this will move to a Military Phase to a diplomatic phase. The department of state will work tirelessly to get any american out that wants to get out working with those partners on the ground, which include the kataris with a embassy and the turks with an embassy and in control of the airport. Turkish nato allies are working with the taliban to get the airport to be commercial to get flights. In General Mckenzie was clear they made a decision not to destroy operational aspects of the airport so fire trucks and there is command of control so civilian aircraft can come. In there will be a How Man Taeurpb Disaster otherwise. General mckenzie made the point the taliban will have their hands full. There are 2000 Isis Fighters that the taliban let out of the bring sons, two key bring sons. Two thousand hardened Isis Fighters, that will be a problem. There are no americans there right now, no american forces there now for them to target. They will turn their weapons on the taliban. That is, i think the tonight i feel certainly the way i hear geraldo and katie, the emotion in everyones voices. We feel it the military here in this building, they feel it this has been a long twenty years. The war is over but the heartbreak continues. Everyone ready for questions for jennifer. Pete. Yes, geraldo said we left with honor there. Is honor in all what our troops have been tore twenty years. People feel the way we left was not honorable and a retreat to the taliban. We saw the Press Conference from the department of defense. We will soon see a Press Conference from the department of state. Do you feel this is the moment the Finger Pointing begins because ultimately it was the a process handled properly. Do you get a sense that there will be an attempt to rewrite the narrative for who is to blame for what didnt go right. I think for the Finger Pointing to begin this soon is a bit unseamly. Thats not the impression i have from those working tirelessly since august 1e6789 i see those at the pentagon and the department of state, many will remain nameless over the years. They worked and were heroic. They got 122,000 vulnerable afghans and americans out of the country when they had to fight their way back in basically. The airport scenes. The 12th Airborne secured that airport in 2 hours. Other than the tragic Suicide Bombing it was a unbelievable effort. You had Military Planes landing every 45 minutes lifting people off to safety. Is it heartbreaking for the military commanders they had to leave anyone behind. Obviously. I asked General Mckenzie how he feels 20 years of war, handing the country back to the very same taliban that they seized it from. I cant imagine anyone in the country, any American Citizen is unchanged from what we have been through the last twenty years and the last two weeks. Katie has a question, jen. Jennifer, thank you for your reporting for the important information on this crucial topic. I think there is a lot of questions. Many americans thought this was happening tomorrow. It happened today. Can you talk about what The General said about that in the briefing. Katie, i think its a good point. They certainly had until midnight August 31st in afghanistan to leave. That was the dead line. That would have been about 3 30 p. M. Eastern time. As you know with the military there is always operational security considerations. If you look at the five rockets fired at the airport last night. The fact that they stopped a massive vehicle with explosives and carried out a Drone Strike against two suicide in the vehicle earlier in the day. There was a sense of time being of the essence. Its no surprise the planes would of taken off, you know it was August 31st in afghanistan. Its 8. 5 hours ahead of us. They left on August 31st. That was the dead line. They left and they did not leave under fire. They got people out safely. I think that was, that was the ultimate goal of the mission. Jen, here is greg. You brought the Drone Strike. Do we have more information on the casualties and the people killed. We really dont. Its being investigated. There were two Drone Strikes. One friday and one on sunday. That Drone Strike that took place in the Kabul Neighborhood about two miles from the airport that was in a very dense Kabul Neighborhood. I would be shocked if there were not civilian casualties. The military takes that very seriously and its being investigated. Initial reports say it was from the secondary explosions in that vehicle, the two Suicide Bombers packed the explosives in the vehicle we were told earlier today. There may of been civilian casualties. That was not the goal but the danger in terms of allowing that vehicle towards the airport would have been much greater. Geraldo has one and i have one as well. General mckenzie spoke about the pragmatic relationship with a long term enemy, dealing with the taliban. Im of the school the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The taliban hates isis. That makes the taliban in this formulation my friend. I want the taliban to snitch on isis. I want the taliban To Go after isis. Is that the feeling in the building . The taliban will be a unusual partner, i mean germany joined us against russia. Japan joined us against china. Is there a feeling that the taliban will join us against isis. It was a absolute marriage of necessity the last two weeks to deal and negotiate with the taliban and provide security at the perimeter at the airport. Thats not a relationship i envision continuing. I believe the way the u. S. Military sees it is that the Taliban And Isis will go at it now. The u. S. Will keep an eye on things and make sure nobody leaves the country and poses a threat to the u. S. Home land or other countries. But as long as theyre engaged on the ground in afghanistan from the military perspective thats a good thing. You heard General Mckenzie say the taliban were pragmatic and business like. Those were his words the last two weeks. The taliban wanted the u. S. To leave. General mckenzie met with the taliban. He said if u. S. Troops were killed or the taliban struck against the u. S. Forces at the airport the u. S. Would respond forcefully. That message was received loud and clear from the taliban. This moves into a new phase. The department of state will use whatever leverage it has left. Not necessarily military Leverage But Leverage in terms of the world community. They will use that leverage to get any americans that are left that want to leave out and any afghan allies threatened by the taliban, they will work tirelessly to do that. Greg has a comment here. One of the things about my enemy of the enemy being my friend that can be reverse. If isis hates us why not join taliban. Thats the problem. Exactly. I know this may of been answered over the weekend. You know were there any taliban killed in the Suicide Bombing. I dont know. The taliban say yes. Yes. Its reasonable to assume. Really. 120 kills. Thats a big blast. I havent heard it thats. Announcer jen, i have a question about the interpreters and other helpers. There have been private efforts going onto try to help them get out. A lot have been turned away. Paperwork issues or whatever it may of been, couldnt get to the airport. A lot from our reporting and what we hear is theyre targeted and hunted down. Where does that go from here . Dane a its interesting. The last two weeks it was not Paper Work issues being the problem. Those restrictions were dropped when the taliban took over and the u. S. Began evacuations. The Paper Work was no hrofrpbger a issue. The issue, We Saw this in real time. The issue was getting vulnerable afghans, Allies Sivs or people working in some form with the u. S. Government or womens groups who are now going to be targeted by the taliban, the issue was getting through taliban Check Points. The taliban were willing to let americans through and Green Card holders through. Thats what they told the u. S. Military. Sometimes they turned a Blind Eye and let a group of afghans through. They did not want educated afghans to leave the country. They need them to build the country. The real problem for most of the sivs and others wanting to get to the airport was that those taliban Check Points on the periphery. People tried five, six times. We would be on the Phone And Hearing how they get turned back at the check point. It was absolutely Gut Wrenching. Now we move into a new phase. Perhaps a Land Bridge Corridor out of the country where convoys of some vulnerable afghans will be escorted by friendly countries that maybe are still on the ground in afghanistan working with the State Department. Those efforts are continuing. Theyre just moving into a new phase. Got it we want To Go to trey. Pete, any comment on anything said. Jennifer, great understanding of the situation on the ground. As was mentioned in the briefing they said a few hundred are Left Behind. You mentioned the enemy of my enemy we have talked about. In a dynamic situation like that we know American Citizens are behind. Siv holders are behind. The taliban can spin it they need the skills. They have their names and biometric data in many cases making them targets. What leverage do we have to prevent in the middle of a Civil War likely to be unleashed keep these people being hostages and Poker Chips in a game between two groups wanting leverage. I think thats a very serious game, pete. Any American Citizen that is Left Behind, they are vulnerable to hostage taking. We know of one hostage who is still being held. But the real, the really vulnerable, most vulnerable people i think are those who worked as translators and worked or members of the ana, the afghan national army, special forces, those fight ago long side the american mill tear. Y those Left Behind. The taliban are at the top of the list for the taliban seeking retribution. I find it hard to believe the taliban would want to seek out and kill americans. Youre right they could be Hostage And Bargaining chips. The ones that are most vulnerable are afghans working with us and not able to get out. Jen, thank you. Stand by. Trey has been with us. Lets get your thoughts on what you hear and see as one bookends and another one begins. Look we heard general Frank Mckenzie breaking down the numbers. 6000 americans evacuated since the taliban took over. You have 250 on the ground in afghanistan. The question of leverage is the question on Everyones Mind moving forward. The united states doesnt have much leverage over the taliban for negotiating the safe passage of The Americans and estimated 10,000 special immigrant visa holders, afghans helping the u. S. States over 20 years. Its a dire situation on the ground. We see these reports of afghans fleeing on foot. United nations estimating half A Million afghans could flee the country over Land Boarders because they dont have a critical Air Bridge anymore. The Leverage Question will remain about how the united states will use diplomacy. We heard General Mckenzie say they will have to rely on allies and the loose relationship with the taliban. We will negotiate hard and aggressively to get The Americans out. What that looks like is anyones guess. Go ahead, greg. This is a key point. This is not about the military. This was not a successful airlift. It wasnt. The worst Military Operation i have seen. It had nothing to do with the military. It was a government that let them down. We are the greatest military on earth. We have to rely on the taliban. Putting that sentence together makes me sad. We lost the war, dude. I know that. I am happy were getting out of there. We condition forget how awful this kwauz. How it let down a lot of people. There are a lot of veterans looking at this and theyre sick to their stomach. I think the idea of saying how successful were polishing a turd. Polishing a turd. Yes. Trey, i have a question for you if you are there. The evacuees there where you are or other places of the region. There are thousands of them. What is that process like. The State Department is getting ready to brief us on the next steps. The vetting, resettlement, and possible efforts for the refugees. Look many afghans arriving here at qatar and other places across the region are homeless. Theyre waiting in facilities, nice but facilities where theyre basically going to try to figure out where to head next. Many evacuees have month idea. Theyre just happy to be oust taliban territory. We can expect a trickle of people from kabul. We know the united states wants to push to get the Airport Open again. Likely Qatar Or Turkey will help the taliban to do so. General mckenzie wanted to make clear The Americans were specific when they left to destroy certain Military Equipment and not touch others. We saw the Airport Equipment and all you need to run an airport not touched to insure they can get the Airport Operating and get evacuees out. Its a question where the evacuees will go. Qatar took in about 30,000 afghan refugees here looking for permanent homes. We have seen the Heart Warming images of translators and those working with the united states with the appropriate Visa Process and having vetting done. Arriving at Washington Pugh C and greeted by people welcoming them. It was a difficult process for afghans leaving the country taking five and six days to get to the airport through Check Points. The blast on thursday capping off a tragic experience for the afghan people and american military on the ground there. Were waiting for a State Department briefing. It was to start at 5 00 p. M. Theyre running about 25 minutes late. Do you mind. Go for it. Trey, katie here. I wanted to ask a question about the Power Structure in the region. The taliban is armed to the teeth with 85 Billion worth of our u. S. Military equipment. China saying they recognize the taliban. Russia doing communication in the country. Cutter has been isolated from its neighbors like the eau and supporting terrorism. This is not The End of a war this. Is a shift of tkwaoe owe political power in the region as a result of us leaving. Absolutely. You make a excellent point talking about the Military Equipment the taliban has hands on. This is not a Mission Accomplished moment for the biden administration. 2700 humvees were destroyed. The New York Times came out with a graphic indicating the taliban has control of 22,000 humvees and a number of other aircraft and helicopters, jets, small arms, the list goes on of american funded Military Equipment in the hands of the Afghan Security Forces now in the hands of the taliban. Theyre not only able to strengthen the military side, reinforcing the ranks with fighters released from prison, you have other actors in the region, extremist actors. Like Al Qaeda We Saw the images at the prison next to the air base. Fighters being released. Over night there was a video of a senior Al Qaeda Leader Hiding in exile over a Decade Return Today to afghanistan. It gives you a sense on the ground of the types of players who are now allowed to operate in afghanistan. Despite the pledges by the taliban they wont allow the country to be a Breeding Ground for terror affecting the west. Once The Americans are gone as they are today its anyones guess as to what happens next. The picture being painted now on afghanistan is not very bright. Do you want to comment on the equipment. Absolutely of course we have legitimized the Terrorist State and given them the best equipment in the world. Greg, i want to aeurpl if wha you said afghan vets across the country are sick to their stomach. Theyre watching our government polish a turd. What have they done saved their own afghan allies. We did that. Fox got 24 out. Multi that by thousand of people isnt this the same as vietnam, major. How many vietnam vets personally coordinated because the Government Wouldnt not the a evacuation but the of course its there. Talk to vietnam vets it per sits and its a problem. We watch officials selling us as this is the most historic airlift we have ever seen. First of all the 123,000 is to be a giant debate. We were hasting and such a fraught process that the amount of people we brought through that shouldnt qualify to get through was immense. What is that Vetting Process like. Who takes care of them. The afghan allies and American Citizens that are still Left Behind, by the way soon to be last apblgz. Hostages. If youre an American Citizen youre a war prize. The translators this. Is a disaster of epic proportions. Im grateful the military getting the boys out. Thats why i asked the question of jennifer as i did. You saw d. O. D. Give their narrative. Now Secretary Of State is giving his narrative. Everyone in washington knows the disaster and wants to point the finger. Think about this, he talked about giving the numbers. He said 27 humvees. I remember this chart. We just created the worlds largest military store. The taliban dont keep the guns for themselves. They will sell them to the person who wants to buy them. Thats where the relationship with Isis Wont be too bad between the two of them. Thats also the nature of the enemy. The enemy of the enemy being our friend. Theyre the scorpion were the frog. It hasnt changed at all. If the taliban was 2. 0 or 3. 0 they would lose legitimacy to such a degree i get it i get it. Radical i get it why did President Trump want to end the war . Why do you make this about trump. Because i want to know. This is Joe Biden. This is Joe Biden and Donald Trump. He scrapped every other deal. Damn it, you have to recognize we wanted out of this 20 year war. Why do you want to fight this war . Its easy to get the Audience Applause when you say lets go, lets attack the bad guys, lets bomb them. Lets get this. Come on, team. Lets charge up. I didnt say that. That is what this is. No, everybody here everybody hates losing a war. Nobody likes losing a war. Im you cant read my mind. This is the leverage we. Have afghanistan doesnt have a dollar in the bank. They Cant Pay China will ru the day they take over afghanistan as a puppet state. They will have the same face as Anyone Else. Afghanistan has a government. How do they pay to put the lights on. How do they pay to pick up the garbage . How do they pay the teachers . There are no teachers. How do they pay the taliban warriors. Garbage collection. You think they care. Day care centers. Hraoeubgt taliban is going to become hezbollah. They will become hezbollah. As pete said we have heard from the defense department. Waiting for the State Department. I dont know if we will hear from President Biden today. Jackie do, you have an update at the White House. We saw the president earlier today he gave a discussion on hurricane i da. What strikes me is we heard from The General at the pentagon no American Citizens were on the last five military flights to leave kabul. When We Saw the president earlier today he knew at that point in time that there were no more americans coming home. Then immediately following that Pool Spray We Saw him with a briefing with white House Secretary asked a couple of times about where things stand. Did not indicate we would be seeing this transpire. You can guess thats because they didnt want to tip off any sort of put our troops in any risk for an attack as they finish their with drawl as we know this is the most dangerous period. That sticks out at me. We had discussion in the briefing where things go from here. We were just 24 hours from the with draw dead line. What is the capabilities looking like. The diplomatic and economic leverage looks like and whether it amounts to much. Jen said when she was asked was the Mission Accomplished. She said i point to the fact that 120,000 livees were saved. I will let you decide yourself, the president will have to speak on that. Whether its a Mission Accomplished or mission finished. It has wrapped up. We do have that remaining and continuing effort to get The Americans home. 250 potentially and count less afghan allies. Thank you, jack. Y katie, a thought. This is suppose to be Joe Bidens moment. He was going to finally end the War In Afghanistan. He wasnt The One to announce this to the american people. We havent heard from him. I understand the pentagon coming out after the president to answer questions about the details of what will happen, the details of who was on the plane, etcetera, the idea that Joe Biden is not speaking as the commander in chief about ending the War In Afghanistan and being the first one to say so follows a pattern how seriously he has taken this the past two weeks. In terms of america and where we are, the Feelings Everyone is having we have gone to leave no man behind to we did not get out everyone we wanted to get out. That was the big Talking Point no man Left Behind. Now as america we have allowed the taliban to dictate our security, take over the country, we didnt have a deterrence to say we will get people out. The fact that we left, Two Hundred people are there. Hopefully we will get them out. We will work with the taliban and we dont have a diplomatic presence on the ground. We will see how that goes. I think thats a huge change in how we think about leaving behind in this country. Jennifer griffin is still with us. Any thoughts on, that jennifer, in terms of the numbers of americans has come, its been wildly different every day. I guess they have narrowed it down to a few hundred is that right. I think, dane a we need to keep in perspective. I understand the emotion thats katie is feeling now. We have all been through so much. We have talked about not leaving people behind. What we have just seen the last two weeks is a incredible relationship between veterans groups, private citizens, heroes all of them, and the u. S. Government in terms of not leaving people behind. So, we can giggle right now about whether its Two Hundred fifty americans. Do we know all of The Americans want to come out i guarantee they will find a way to get them safely out of the country. You have a airport. You have a land bridge. There are ways to get those people out. I think we need to have perspective on what was just accomplished the last two weeks. The u. S. Military could of said were not going back in. Were not risking american lives to the Go G. Back and get all of these allies, afghan allies Siv Holders out. They did not do that. They went back in after a difficult circumstance. They fought their way back in. Recontrolled an airport. Got 122,000 people including 6000 americans to safety. Now the numbers of americans left, im not diminishing the fear that any of those americans may feel now. Again some of them are people who are older afghans with Duel Passports who have never been to the u. States and prefer to stay in their village outside of kabul they feel secure. Some maybe pregnant american women who have Duel Passports that they decide to stay. I cant say for certain. What i can say is what i saw behind the scenes here at the pentagon and the non profit groups i have worked with over the years. I know pete has worked with. This was a unbelievable american effort. No other country in the world could of pulled off what we pulled off. Pete, of the 13 that died one was nicole g. There holding a baby and posting that she loves her job. The nature of our troops was incredible. Absolute Best Of The best. When you know there was a Threat Assessment at that gate more or less at that moment we may learn more about in the future. Yet your disposition is to be the arm of the american government reaching out to say we wouldnt leave anyone behind. Understanding the threat to yourself its remarkable. It lends you to the kinds of soliloquys we have had today. Our leaders dont deserve them. Our leaders dont deserve them youre right. I hear about these, maybe Anecdotal Astrosties of the new taliban. Have we heard about the taliban executing their own for breaking the rules. If a soldier does perform an atrocity why not kill them. I would like to hear that. That may make me think they have changed. A f. They do change a lot will leave and join isis. Thats true. A lot of afghans have left afghanistan for a long time. The Refugee Crises in 2018, 2019 in greece and all of Eastern Europe those were afghans walk ago cross afghanistan, iran, iraq, got into turkey, walked across turkey and crossed into greece. There are thousands and thousands of afghans fleeing even before this monumental event. Afghanistan is a deeply i am impoverished place. The taliban is like 18 different groups, the ethnic differences in afghanistan. You have all of these different groups who think they have pry prymacy. I think if china hits this Tar Baby their hands stick to it. Kate. Y. I want to ask jennifer another question. Shes not here. She mentioned ngos and private organizations helping, pete you can talk about this too. Its incredible to see Ace Result of this crisis happening so quickly and people caught off guard. Operation pineapple express veterans went over knowing the streets of kabul they went and found their guys and got them out. Once we look back on this and process how they were able to do that and they went in and new exactly where To Go, who to get and get them out safely will be quite the story to tell. To hear from the people they rescued when theyre in the united states or third Party Country will be quite something to listen to. There is a movie to be had h. There for all of the right reasons. Jennifer is right there is coordination between those groups and the government. There is a bit to believe there was coordination from the beginning. These were veteran groups and outside groups pushing and finding willing counterparts in the wire willing to break protocol at certain gates to bring u. S. Citizens and afghans in. The d. O. D. Caught up the best advocates in juicing numbers and getting people across was the outside veteran networks. One other thing about jennifer said. I believe the pentagon is wholeheartedly committed to the evacuation. I have no question about the people. Me neither. What they have to deal with is what we were going to talk about later. 84 of americans believe bidens with Draw Policy was a failure. You say what we did is historic that. Doesnt match with what americans have seen with their own eyes. I wanted to bring this up and trey can weight in. Agree with what pete says. A lot what had you saw was getting the flights out, amazing. Many of the things that the administration has said including from the president himself for several weeks now have not matched with what we see with our own eyes and hear with our own ears. You reported on it too, trey. One the veterans are frustrated. Americans, 84 . You couldnt get americans to degree on a Mothers Day Resolution at 84 , now this. What was said by the administration at that time was extremely frustrating. Absolutely there was a deep frustration by individuals on the ground making it to the airport of the words coming from washington. We talked with families last sunday at kabul. They described the scenes of being blocked at taliban Check Points and areas outside. The confusion. Even with a u. S. Pat port it was not a cake walk. This description We Saw often by officials in washington explaining how people can walk to the airport and get through was not the reality. I think you will hear this over and over again as people analyze what went wrong and where the Communication Breakdown happened. We also talked with troops on the ground too. I think its important to distinguish between the politicians in Pugh C and those on the Ground Conducting and following through on the mission. Many of the officers and soldiers that we spoke with were happy to be there. When We Saw that tragic explosion on thursday i thought back to some of the conversations and the smiles of the american forces on the ground there. They were happy to be there. To be handing out Food And Water to these afghan civilians. They were not there for war. The war was coming to an end. They were there for peace. They were there for humanitarian reasons. That was clear. The mismatch of what was happening on the ground and statements from open officials in washington very, very different. We continue to wait for the State Department briefing starting at 5 00 p. M. Theyre about 45 minutes late. Greg, its not just a process of what you saw today or yesterday. Jake sullivan at the White House saying it was The General. Yes. Also then the State Department for months they have been being told by a group no one Left Behind the Visa Process needs to be sped up and covid was a reason. There was a lot of tippinger pointing from the government. Blaming the military was one of them. What you learned is what did the government want . Superior optics, right. They wanted to keep a fewer amount of troops. Maybe it was the military who decided not to do it. They were handed by constraints you have to be done by 9 11 so the president can have that on that anniversary. Its important. We need to do it with less troops. This is all about symbolism and optics not about saving lives at all. Lindsey graham from South Carolina had thoughts about what does this mean going forward. Take a listen. The chance of another 9 11 went through the roof. President biden said he wanted to take this afghanistan off the plate for future President S. He has done the exact opposite. For the next 20 years american President S will deal with this catastrophe in afghanistan. This war has not ended. We have entered a new deadly chapter. A lot have the view. Some dont. I think geraldo wants to weight. In. I dont think Senator Graham has never met a war he didnt liking. Hes for the flamboyant use of the u. S. Military for resolving sometimes political disputes. I watch him every time there is a crisis regardless where it is or the country. He wants to bomb it, get the military involved, commit our forces oversees. I think the Military Industrial Complex is a real thing. A real lobby towards war and action. Its not the veteran groups. The veteran groups having experienced war they know what war is like. These guys, the politicians they dont know. They come in vip, Land Two or Threes Land and come home. They tell con still aoeubts i was on the front line with the troops. The people fighting the war are The Ones that can tell us when the application of force is appropriate and its a sacred obligation to apply that force in a prudent way, patriotically but not agreegiously aggressive. Use your power to accomplish something. I also want to say to diminish, jen agreed, to diminish the 120,000 you have to be careful. Vietnam was about the same amount of people. We got them to guam and the united states. Including the mung tribesmen. The gymnast the mung winning the Gold Medal for the united states of america. Immigrant vigor. This isnt horrible for the united states. For graham to say the chance of another 9 11 thats reckless and irresponsible. Afghanistan is now ran by th they planned 9 11 in hamburg, german. Y. Osama Bin Laden was harbored in afghanistan. Now his security is back in Ah Kwapb Stan today. We handed a country we fought 20 years banning to the Terrorist Group i want to say something quickly. You say diminishing the 100,000 plus people airlifted out. Its not diminishing the process. Its the idea that people from a Hrebg Turn is arguing its a great achievement when they dont answer the question of a airlift in the first place. They didnt listen to intelligence, they were not prepared. Its not about saying thats not enough people or obviously if you have have more people out they planned more carefully. The issue is how this went down. Its not about not wanting to get out its how we got out. Thats right. I was in touch with people there, at the gate. They didnt know in cases who was coming in. There was a Vouching Process and then Family Members along side them. Im passionate making sure our allies come in. Theyre dancing around a number they didnt create. Theyre dancing around hundreds of American Citizens are there. Yes, veterans understand the battlefield better than Anyone Else and want to avoid it we also have To Go back to fight it leaving the Terror State. I believe we should have left afghanistan, we should of lodge ago. Its living a Sports Fan watching a seven game final. You watch teams compete all the way through. All that everyone remembers is the last shot, last 15 seconds. What we have done is Air Ball the way we executed our with draw from afghanistan. Thats what the world remembers. Thats what the network remembers. The Hakani Network was one of the greatest mentors of Osama Bin laden. His network is in charge of kabul. Thats the situation how we have executed not the last year but 20 years. Dancing around 120,000 and saying how great that is a revisionist view and we have left people there. Who were the 9 11 hijackers. Was there a afghan among them . Saudi arabia. Our blessed ally who has been abusing women they denied Bin Laden was involved. You just said saudi arabia, right. Are you denying. I want to bring up one thing. Okay. I have breaking news. The State Department says 6 00 p. M. Anthony blinken will come out. Still in the hamptons. No the State Department. Greg, one thing that is different is our abilities to fight and counter terrorism is greater today. I agree. Also i cant almost predict the same way i couldnt predict 9 11. It was Box Cutters and planed r. S. It wasnt rocket science. They turned planes into rockets. Thats what they did. I wouldnt of thought after going to flight school. I wouldnt of thought about that. Its an achievement in creativity for us to think about whether its bio or like for example if they paralyze our grid then we turn on each other we dont have atms, money, work. Then thats all they need to do . They think in that way. You dont have to be in afghanistan anymore to do that. You can be anywhere. Right. Go back to the Vegas Shooter. We thought that was isis. It was so devastating. There was something else i wanted to bring up that irks me. Where are the stories with Anonymous Sourcing . Remember if Donald Trump broke win there would be six anonymous sources with a decibel reading. The media has agreed not to press this administration for anonymous sources or quotes during what is probably the biggest. I know its early in his administration but the biggest failure of his administration. Its humiliating. The only anonymous sources are those defending him. Geraldo, why were the guys here in Flight Schools . They had visas. So when Lindsey Graham talks about making sure people are vetted its because we dont want to cause a issue where we allow people into the country to attack us here and then we have to fight another year for 20 years. The Vegas Shooter was an angloamerican. A statement from President Biden just. In Tomorrow Afternoon i will address the american people and our decision not to extend our presence in afghanistan beyond August 3 1e6789 for now i will report it was the unanimous recommendation of the joint chiefs. Let me jump in here, pete. Last few weeks President Biden said he may change the date, may not. Maybe thats the element of surprise or they didnt know. He said i will extend the perimeter, maybe i wont. If that was tactical and strategic. Wonderful if it was. Doesnt feel like that based on the reporting we see from the ground. No. To hear The End of the statement based on the conscience of the joint chiefs. Greg, to your point if this was trump there would be leaks about the decisions and how wrong he was. General hauz happy To Go to the podium after going to the church. He wont take to the podium now. That says one of two things to me. One, they recommended the military recommendations. Not accepting the Talibans Agreement to come into kabul. Maybe they made the bad decisions or didnt agree and are willing to stay silent. Its problematic. If youre a Military Leader be willing to stand up and be a voice in those moments. We will find out. The statement from biden says the world will hold the taliban accountable for safe passage. The world is watching. We always hear that. International community. Earlier today they had the Chief Of Staff twitting a statement that there are A Hundred nations, geraldo said, are all onboard to make sure this doesnt turn into terrorism. Well we know 9 11. That was low tech as we know blight flight school, Box Cutters, hijacking, Slam Pg into two of our most high profile buildings. The pentagon and the other in the field in pennsylvania. We hail the memory for all of those perishing during that horrible attack on america. We have to be ville tkpwapbt. That doesnt change. The Refugee Situation Wont meaningfully affect it. It could be anyone carrying a bomb. I think we have to get use to incidents where our security forces foil one of these attacks on the Subway Or Airport or school. We, you know, we havent been that good at stopping, you know, people bent on homicide. You know you mentioned las vegas. An american guy, sharpshooter guy. Killed himself in The End. Go through the list. You know, unfortunately sandy look and so forth. We have horrible people on earth trying to affect us. Your point and the scariest thing mentioned all day, greg, when you mention bio terror. You can put nuclear in there as well. Pakistan. Lab. Part of the important thing is. Lock how that crippled us. You served after this change. September 10th, 2001 the white House Communication was late. It was a terrible story coming the next morning. About the Dick Cheney Energy Task Force. September 11th Nobody talked about that Task Force again. It changes your perspective, mind and mindset. We were attacked now we have to be on offense. I feel institutionally in the military they want to be on offense and so does the intelligence community. I think. Correct. That woke us Up To Islam and radical islamic. Its not going away even if we fight it. It woke us up to limits, Nation Building, remaking people. It woke us up to spending that time and money, resources in one place you cant spend it somewhere he is. The communist chinese, we have finite resources. It woke us up to effective allies. The patch i were on my soldier isap. It was i saw americans fighting. There were great countries i get it ultimately its an american prince harry. Ultimately its a american mission. Our vigilance will decide what is at bay. We have two minutes left. The State Department will brief at 6 00 oclock. We will turn it over to brett. Lets go around. Katie. Yes. The lessons learned here. People say why are we not winning the war or getting out of afghanistan. There was a point during the 20 Year Process lawyers fought the war. Guys were given a mission. Then they were threatened to be court marshalled or brought in front of congress and the Interrogation Program was a good example of this. The Rules Of Engagement held back our ability to do a lot in Afghanistan And Iraq for numbers of years. Reassessing winning wars instead of Nation Building to get the job done instead of hands of soldiers tied behind their backs with lawyers making Phone Calls about a Air Strike or not is how you win instead of lose. Geraldo. I left the Fat Job at nbc to be a War Correspondent at fox fuse. Friends and neighbors were killed in that horrible attack. I was, it was the greatest moment of my career to Moment Oy Career to announce that usama Bin Laden had been killed 202011 every year we stayed after that was adding to a tragedy. Dana pete . Pete i want to salute every Man And Woman who served in that conflict and every single one who didnt come home to their families. Your service mattered. It was hockey and our country will not forget regardless of how it ended. Geraldo amen. Dana greg . Greg its going to come surprising i dont really trust the taliban. I also dont trust our leaders who let them eat our Lunch And Pete is on my Show Tonight at 11 00. You will hear more of pete. Dana you will have pete. The President Says he will speak tomorrow. 6 00 there are still people in danger. Americans there. They say they are going to try to get them out and Secretary Blinken has this task asking our allies and other countries to help make sure they have safe passage. That will be it for us Special Report is up next. Every single u. S. Member is out of afghanistan i can say that with certainty. Bret good evening, welcome to washington. Im bret baier. Breaking tonight you are looking at the State Department expecting Secretary Of State any moment. The last u. S. Troops have left afghanistan. Hundreds of u. S. Citizens did not get on the last Military Plane out now did thousands of afghans who helped the u. S. Over the course of the war. Americas longest war is over in afghanistan. Although many experts fear the war on terrorism that will likely grow from taliban control of that country will only
