The country of uzbekistan says an Afghan Military Plane crashed there over the weekend. This was done too hastily and i think ultimately the blame for it lies on President Biden certainly but also on his national security leadership. They have to be able to speak hard truths to power. I understand how stubbornly President Biden wants us out of afghanistan. But we also have to do it smartly, strategically. And safely. These people are immune to sarscov2 probably at the same level if not better than people we consider fully vaccinated. The data on that is becoming increasingly clear. Solid studies demonstrating people who are fully vaccinated as compared to people who were naturally infected have the same rates of subsequent infection. The Breakthrough Cases are emerging. What the study compares his people who are naturally infected versus people who are naturally infected and vaccinated and there seems to be a marginal benefit to added vaccination. However, the real comparison is with respect to the mandates and the social measures we are putting in place, the real comparison is people who were naturally infected versus people we consider fully vaccinated. In that comparison, several studies are very, very clear that people who are naturally infected and people who were fully vaccinated are equivalently susceptible subsequent infection. In most cases the expectation is people who are naturally infected are more robustly immune especially to the variants.
