Dont be the reason why schools are disrupted because of the polarization of this effort to reopen schools. The White House says florida And texas account for a third of the entire countrys new cases And hospitalizations. Texas Governor Abbott partly blames it on the border crisis. Were awaiting an update from Texas Officials on that issue. First, dr. Jay from Stanford University who has been working with florida Governor Desantis on covid mitigation. Great to have you on. Youre an informal adviser for the governor of florida now for the past 18 months. During that time as evidence shows, hes made many of the right calls. Now you have covid cases exploding again in florida. The Death Rate is still down. Would you advise Governor Desantis to change his guidance at all . No, i think hes done many of the right decisions. The key thing about what you just mentioned, its a very important point. What we once thought that when covid cases went up, deaths would follow. But because of Governor Desantis policies of vaccinating the old, getting Priority Seniors that face a very high risk of death, we decoupled cases And deaths. Cases rise, but deaths dont follow in proportion because of the success of protecting seniors that Governor Desantis actually, Governor Abbott also And like much of the country has. I dont understAnd the political fight. In many ways, theres lots of credit to go around. We have done a fantastic job as a country protecting the vulnerable. Yeah, a great point. The severity of the disease has always been the goal. To lessen the severity of the disease. This is from Jen Psaki. She said 23 of new Covid Hospitalizations in the u. S. Are in florida And the hospitals are overwhelmed again. Were doing everything we can to help the people of florida And theyre stepping up by getting vaccinated we hope. This is not a battle over vaccinations. Governor desantis has said over And over again, he wants his state to get vaccinated. Its about masks in schools, no more, no less. Yeah, i agree. I dont understAnd the fight over vaccination. I think theyre agreeing on vaccination, especially for the vulnerable. The masks in School Issue is interesting. You know, florida has kept their schools open 100 inperson all of last year. Theyve had no deaths for children from covid acquired in schools. This is similar to sweden. All last year, they had no masks in sweden. Inperson school. No social distancing And no child deaths. The teachers were exposed to covid less than other professions in sweden. Here we have a full set of vaccinated teachers that face no risk at all from unmasked children or very little risk from unmasked children. Makes no sense to require a mask. How do you teach a 5yearold to read with a mask . I want to swap states again very quickly. We talk about texas as well. Governor abbott has said the flow of undocumented migrants coming across the border, covid positive And theres thousAnds of them now, its disengenuous for them not to acknowledge that. Your final thoughts of that. Yeah, the Vaccine Requirements have spun out of control. Im not sure what public Health Purpose they serve. We should encouraging vaccinations but mAndating vaccines doesnt make much sense. We should have a consistent policy no matter who youre a playing it to. Dr. Jay, thanks for coming on. We appreciate your insight. Thank you. Lets bring in marc thiessen, Aei Scholar And former Chief Speechwriter to george w. Bush And a Fox News contributor. I dont know if you heard part of that conversation, marc, but we started off with the concept that over the past 18 months, Governor Desantis has made some of the first calls that have turned out to be absolutely correct, And now the White House is battling again. Not mentioning the fact that in that time when he was saying no, youre not going to put covid positive patients in Nursing Homes, no, were not going to do this, this And this And turned out to be wellassessed decisions on his part. Your thoughts on this back And forth with the White House. I think Governor Desantis is one of the best governors in the country when it comes to dealing with covid. You played the quote from Jen Psaki saying that hospitals are overrun. Its the Broward Health Ceo that says 80 of their hospitalizations are for covid patients. Theyre not overrun. In miami, Jackson Health reports that 6 of Covid Admissions are of vaccinated people. Thats consistent with national averages. 94 of people that are hospitalized in florida with unvaccinated. Nationally more than 99 of the deaths from covid are people unvaccinated. Its a tragedy. These are mostly preventible deaths. The reality is, if youve been vaccinated for covid19, youre about as likely to die from a Lightning Strike as you are to die from covid19. Youre basically bulletproof. So theres that chance of death that are very low And chance of hospitalization are very low. Theres no justification important putting in covid restrictions on the vast majority of americans that have vaccinated immunity And also about half of the country has natural immunity from prior infection, which an israeli study just found is almost seven times more powerful than vaccinated immunity. So most of the the nonimmune population is shrinking. Theyre dying, largely getting ill And we should encourage people to get vaccinated but should not lock down the country or keep kids out of school because of the unvaccinated population getting sick. You talk about natural immunity, dr. Marty makary And Marc Siegel has said that natural immunity is very strong. The studies are proving that. Is some of this going after gop governors . Is this a Defense Mechanism . A poll shows that bidens hAndling of the pAndemic is losing stream. Its 53 approve. Thats down from may by 12 points. Down in three months, 12 points. People are shaking their heads saying maybe its not so good after all. What do you think . People are shaking their heads because they see whats coming. Delta variant is expected to peak in late august And early september what is happening in late august And early september . Kids are supposed to go back to school. They see the teachers unions will use this as a pretext to avoid going to school saying kids have to be vaccinated before the teachers can come back, which is absurd. Kids are not at serious risk of covid19. 620,000 americans have died of covid19. Less than 400 are kids. That is only with covid diagnoses in their record. The cdc has no idea whether they did or did not die from covid19. Teachers are if youre vaccinated And healthy, youre not at serious risk from your kids. Theres no excuse not to open schools. We also didnt get the comorbidity that some of those kids were facing. Thanks, marc. We appreciate it. Thank you. Were awaiting officials to announce a plan for covid positive migrants And well take you there live. Its a huge story developing. Well have more on it next. Trace Texas Officials about to unveil a new plan for migrants with covid19. 1,500 alone had covid were taken into custody. In moments, bill cornyn. But first, Bill Melugin in mission, texas. Good afternoon, bill. Trace, good afternoon to you. The Press Conference expected to start any minute now. Just a few feet away from us. What theyll announce is this plan. They built this Emergency Tent Compound with a purpose of Housing Covid positive migrants that have been released from federal custody. You can see the Tent Compound behind us. The migrants are in there. If you want to take the Press Conference, its about to start right now. Back to you. Trace okay. Lets go to the podium And listen in. Okay. Were ready to start. First of all, welcome. Im Martin Garza here in the county of hidalgo, precinct 3. I want to thank you for making it out here to the park. Were located south of mission, texas. We have a very pressing issue here in our area. Not just in our area but really this is a huge area that were having this issue with. Its important that we come together And that were with the public And the public is aware of what the county of hidalgo And what mcallen is doing. Here with us today, we have several elected officials And we have appointed officials from the county of hidalgo And also from the city Of Mcallen that are participating in this operation. Id like to introduce our county judge, richard cortez. Thank you. Good afternoon to all of you again. Were here to announce a new temporary facility, which you can see here to my left behind us that is intended to house And take care of Asylum Seekers that are immigrants that have come here And tested positive for covid. Some of those do not have covid but their Family Members chose to stay with them while they recover from the disease ultimately will be turned loose when they test when they test positive. As you know, this is a federal issue. These immigrants are here based on the laws of our inauguration. Legally to seek an asylum. Its the federal Governments Responsibility to care for them And take care of them. Unfortunately some because of the very high volume of immigrants that are coming here, we have reached a point that of capacity. So before in the past, capacity was not an issue. We were able to hAndle these immigrants in a safe, secure way without interfering with anyone of our local citizens. That situation changed. We had to create additional capacity. Over the weekend And early part of this week, communications with the city Of Mcallen, the city of mission And the county, it was decided that this would be a very suitable place in order to prepare a temporary facility for those people. We believe that this helps move some of the immigrants off a more dense Populated Area like the city Of Mcallen to an area such as this. So for more detail, i want to turn it over to the commissioner. This is a precinct 3 facility that hes in charge. Hes been one of the leaders that led to where we are today. Ill invite him to give you more details of this new facility. Commissioner . Thank you for being here today. Yesterday i got a calls And meetings. I was updated on the situation that they were having in mcallen with some of these immigrants. Although this is a federal issue, the And-health'>Safety And Health of our hidalgo residents is a priority for us. So i authorize the use of this park here. It has natural barriers that will protect our Hidalgo County residents. This has been a very sad year for a lot of us that have lost Family Members, relatives, neighbors And parents. So its been hard for everybody. So you know, we need to stop. We have to have Common Sense solutions to solve this problem that is having an impact on the And-health'>Safety And Health of our Hidalgo County residents. Thank you for being here And i want to introduce our mcallen city manager, roy rodriguez. Trace you can see the theme there. They have built this temporary facility in Hidalgo County because the County Commissioner just told us that the mayor Of Mcallen is fed up of what is happening there. You can imagine you have a federal problem, a federal crisis And you have local jurisdictions now taking matters into their own hAnds. With that, lets bring in Texas Senator John cornyn, ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on immigration And border safety. Just so were clear, senator, thanks for joining us, the way this has worked traditionally is that migrants when they come across, theyre put into shelters. If theyre covid positive, they cannot go to shelters And then theyre sent to catholic charities. Catholic charities will rent Hotel Space And theyre not notifying local authorities that they have dozens of covid positive patients so now Hidalgo County is taking matters into their own hAnds, building their own facilities to hAndle the influx of migrants. Your thoughts on this. Unfortunately theyre overwhelmed. The Border Patrol is overwhelmed dealing with unaccompanied children coming across. The Covid19 Virus is making this more complicated. Youve seen, youve heard, youve reported that authorities are releasing people who have tested covid19 positive into the general population of my state And our country. At a time when people are worried about the Delta Variant And being told that they need to start wearing masks in public And the like, this is totally like two ships passing in the night. This is a vulnerability to the Public Health of the united states And the biden administration who created this problem by reversing all the policies of the previous administration is doing nothing about it. Trace the Wall Street Journal really said what you said. In essence, theyre saying here, the president wants to defer to Public Health officials when it comes to masking And social distancings. He cant ignore that these migrants are contributing to the crisis. Covid positive patients flooding in And weve heard time And time again, the administration doesnt appear to have an answer. If they do, theyre not articulating it very well. The reality is that some people are turning themselves in as Judge Cortez said because theyre seeking asylum in the united states waiting for a Court Hearing. More than Half Wont show up for their Court Hearing And will melt into the lAndscape. Many migrants are not caught by Border Patrol. They dont turn themselves in. They dont qualify for asylum. Of course, all of those remain untested. We have no real concept of the extent to which they operate as spreaders of the virus throughout my state And our nation. I want to play this Sound Bite by alejAndro mayorkas. Hes said the same thing. He put this on the previous administration. Watch. We are following an administration that frankly dismantled our capabilities to address it. So we are building it from the ground up. We lost four years of investing in the countrys from which these individuals are migrating. Our safe And orderly systems were torn down. So were rebuilding them. Our plan is in place And were executing it. Senator, critics say the comment is baffling. Its no different than saying republicans were behind the defund the police movement. To say that trump dismantled the whole thing when biden came in And got rid of the building of the wall, got rid of the remain in mexico is now having exceptions to the title 42 problems. What is your thought on that . Director mayorkas is not telling the truth or if he believes what he said, hes clueless as to what the causes of this crisis are. He needs to step down And let somebody responsible deal with this. We did not have this volume of people coming across the border until the biden administration laid out the welcome mat And basically told people, including Drug Smugglers And Human Smugglers And Drug Smugglers if you want to get people or you want to move contrabAnd across the border, were open. Theres no consequences associated with it. Deterrence works. When people think that they will be unsuccessful in coming, many of them will not come. Weve lost any deterrence at all because Human Smugglers that were getting rich off of this, this is a big payday for them. Trace ive covered the border 34 years And i have never seen this amount of migrants in august because its dangerous And hot And here they come. Senator, great to have you. Thank you. Thanks very much. Trace of bit of Breaking News just in. The Murder Trial of Robert Durst has unexpectedly finished for the day. Who will keep everybody else safe . Heres Cori Bush. Im going to make sure i have security because i know ive had attempts on my life. I have too much work to do. Theres too many people that need help right now for me to allow that. So if i end up spending 200,00 i get to be here to do the work. So suck it up. Defunding the police has to happen. Trace lets bring in Katie Pavlich And Richard Follow with the new leaders council. Both are Fox News contributors. If i heard it correctly, richard, what i hear congresswoman Cori Bush saying i need the police, my life is threatened. I need security. The rest of you, not so much. Yeah, im not going to say that was the best phrase from Cori Bush. While i applaud her to raise the issue about evictions for american people, 3. 3 Million folks that will get evicted if it wasnt for her, i part ways with her when it comes to this blanket defunding the police. Im not sure that that is the solution. Theres a more balanced approach to this. What you hear over And over again is that police are overburdened. We saw the that earlier with merrick garlAnds Press Conference. Police are overburdened. Things that they dont want to deal with, drug abuse, Domestic Violence complaints And reallocating money for people to deal with that. But theres a role that police play in our community when it comes to stopping violent crime, keeping criminals behind bars And they have to play that role. So theres a more balanced approach here that is a Far Cry from defunding the police. Trace katie, i think democrats have echoed that. As i said earlier, when the the democrats blame republicans as the ones that wanted to defund the police, you know its not polling well. First of all, i would say the position that the congresswoman is taking is a morally reprehensible one. First of all, shes saying her life matters more And its Worth Spending 200,000 to protect her own life while she defunds police as part of this movement that has resulted, this toxic ideology of defunding the place that has resulted in a Crime Wave that we havent seen in decades with crime through the roof, whether its murder, rape, armed assault against innocent people walking down the street because please have been defunded And demoralized by this idea that shes a prominent part of. The other thing, too, Shes Part of the party that has been demAnding for years that americans be disarmed through more gun control. Democrats have advocated that americans dont have the right to selfdefend but yet Shes Part of this movement to defund the police. They want to defund the police, take away the second amendment And pay for her own security. Democrats for weeks have spend numerous hours from the defund the police movement. Shes just sunk them back into it. Trace my point. I want to bring up this gallup poll. Asking people, would you rather the police spend more time, the same amount of time or less time in your community . You can see there, more time And the same amount of time. 81 , only 19 say less crime. So katie is right. The whole defund the thing is the democrats are running as fast as they can from this. You have Cori Bush bringing it back. You know 2022 the republicans will use it again And again And again. Look, theres a And-distinction'>Delineation And Distinction here. For a very long time, theres a strong call for accountability, And-oversight'>Transparency And Oversight when it comes to policing in this country. Nobody wants to see bad policing. Nobody wants to see officers like Derrick Chauvin on their police force. Even Police Officers dont want to see people like him. With that being said, we have to ensure that we operate in a world that everybody is given the same amount of Public Safety. Whether you live in the suburbs or in the Inner City of this country, Public Safety has to be a value that all americans believe in. You cant thats not mutually exclusive. Thats the most important thing when we have this conversation. Public safety doesnt mean you only get there via the lane of policing, which is what you hear from the right. The only way we get Public Safety is hiring more cops. Thats not the answer. Trace katie, 15 seconds to respond. Look, weve seen bad Police Officers prosecuted for the crimes that they have committed by a jury of their peers And found guilty. The criminal Justice Question of the day, why are there violent criminals running rampant on the streets as a result of lefts prosecutors backed by people like Cori Bush by people that shouldnt be in jail And Scape Goat the police And hiring private security for themselves while they make sure the communities they claim to be representing are vulnerable because of violent crime. In moments, George Pataki for the first time on tv since this story broke. First, Bryan Llenas in new york. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. Theres no sign that hes resigning. Cuomo spent the day inside that mansion in albany locked up with his closest Advisers Strategizing his next Press Appearance in the wake of the Ags Investigation that found that he harassed 11 employees. Is he posturing to see what the appetite is in the State Assembly to impeach him the first time in 100plus years . I think you saw in this videotaped response after the Attorney General put out the report that hes not remorseful, hes not apologizing. Hes saying nothing untoward happened. So long as he takes that position, yes, hes going to hang on as long as he can. Let me say, im disappointed in The Assembly. They said they had looked at this for months. They have the Attorney Generals report. One of the most thorough. Now theyre giving Cuomo Another eight days to submit information . The longer this drags out, the worse it is for new york. Trace what do you think of the new York Post saying that he might survive this because of the me too movement is not as robust as it was four or five years ago . Well, i find it hard to believe that any legislator, republican or democrat, party doesnt matter after looking at the Attorney Generals report finding these 11 credible accusers And as a commentator said, the 15,000 Nursing Home deaths, abuse the state resources to write his book, to help his family during a covid crisis so many things. I find it hard to believe that any legislator, democrat or republican, could take a look at this And not say that we need a new governor in new york state. Trace are you surprised, governor, it wasnt the Nursing Home scanned that will brought him down first And foremost . Well, i was thats what i was really the most upset about until i heard the other allegations. The fact that the governor is considered a hero with covid, got 5 Million for writing a book when new york has one of the highest Fatality Rates in the country And the 15,000 Nursing Home deaths is something that i was railing about from day one when he starts putting covid positive patients in Nursing Homes. But for whatever, that didnt seem to catch the interest of the politicians that were looking at that. Right now theres the Andle'>Abuse CAndle And that combined with the others should lead any fairminded legislator to go to take a look And say we a new governor in new york.
