In the vast majority of vaccinated people that test positive, theyre asymptomatic. A pandemic of cases is different from a pandemic of illnesses. Theyre around covid a fair bit. Its concerning that two of the Healthcare Workers over 200 were hospitalized. I understand those were very mild cases. We dont know if that was a bad batch of the vaccine or was administered incorrectly or they had some preexisting medical condition. So not enough Data Points to reach a conclusion about a trend. We talk about what next steps that might happen from the administration. Is it your sense, dr. Makary, if you were guiding this, that you would leave the vaccinated people alone and maybe leave those people with immunity that had covid alone and focus on those with no immunity . One of the greatest failures of our current public Health Guidance is the complete and inexplicable ignoring of natural immunity. A recent study out of israel says if you have natural immunity, its 6. 7 times greater than from vaccinated immunity. I never recommend anybody to get the infection to get natural immunity. But when you recover, you have antibodies to the entire surface. The immunity should be better. We should change that to requirements for immunity and count natural immunity. Its august, alderman. Theres still five months to go. Your thoughts. Yeah, staggering numbers. In the last five, six years ive been in office, ive been bringing up the numbers. Everybody blows them off. I used the last 18 months. Weve had over 6,200 people shot. I believe that Homicide Number would be a lot higher if we didnt have the greatest firemen and paramedicses in the country in the Chicago Fire Department that are saving the lives on the streets. Theyre Street Doctors now. Its a War Zone were in. Were not just dealing with car accidents. Were dealing with shootings on a regular basis, multiple shootings per night. Its staggering. Its makes your heart want to stop and wonder where were going with this crime. The chicago mayor says its a Gun Problems. The Police Captain says its a Revolving Door at the courthouse people. Other say its a People Problem. I say its a People Problem. The Gun Problem is ridiculous. I use the best terminology. If you say its a gun terminology, its like me blaming the spoon that i gain so much weight. We have the strictest Gun Laws in the country. We have a People Problem here. A revolving Door Problem in the judicial system. The States Attorney is obsolete. She does nothing to keep people in prison. I introduced an ordinance that would charge criminals with these offenses. Hit them with a municipal fine up to 10,000. She could drop her charges and we could keep the city charges. We have aldermen working against that. Theyre interested in punishing the police, not the criminals. Thats the movement. Dick durbin wrote an oped this weekend. Im not going to read it. The headline is that the heart of the Chicago Gun violence is poverty and trauma. Your thoughts. No, the problem is we have a problem with people raising their children and telling them not to pick up a gun. It has nothing to do with poverty. Its a Gun Problem throughout the entire city. Police Officers Cant do their job because you have aldermen and elected officials working every day to disband or defund the Police Department and demonize that job. Its not a poverty issue. Its happening everywhere in the state of chicago and tricking down to the suburbs. Trace what do you tell people in your district . What do we do . What do you tell them year after year after year this goes on . Especially the past two years its been stunning, the numbers. Yeah, i big them to stay. A lot of people are exiting the state and the state in an astronomical rate. I beg them to stay. I tell them theyre better times ahead. I big them to reconsider on who they vote for. Look at who they supported and what their take is on crime in chicago. You should be voting against it. Theres a lot of aldermen out there that are not working on behalf of crime. They would rather see people weaker because it makes their job stronger in government. Thats the big thing. Any public Health Strategy involves good border control. If you think about the countries that did best with this pandemic from the beginning, its those that were island countries. They were able to immediately naturally secure that Inflow And Outflow of people. So thats the important ingredient here in addressing the strategy. Trace i think we should note that these people were placed in the hotels and the local authorities were never notified that they were there until some of them turned up at a whataburger in la jolla, texas. I did assessments for him in iraq and also in afghanistan over the number of years. So im pretty familiar with his Thought Process. What we have, we have a 20year ally here that has been Side By side with us in the war against Radical Islam and making certain that Alquaida And Isis does not reemerge in afghanistan. Were literally walking away from them. They helped to put together a constitutional democracy, sort of copying what we were doing. We werent there to establish a democratic state. We were to deal with the Alquaida And Isis and taliban supporting them. But were walking away from that. There will be incredible Human Suffering as a result. I think its going to get ugly. I think when president biden made this decision, trace, im not certain that he really understood what a dire situation it would be if we pulled away all of the Air Support and have been providing for the last seven years. We havent been fighting Side By side with the afghans. Weve been providing them Air Support as you know. How quickly the situation would change when the ground forces lost that decisive role that Air Power played for them. Its unraveling likely faster than the president thought. You know, when forces close on Each Other, Infantry Forces are closing in on Each Other and youre trying to use Air Support to support the friendly forces, you need someone to identify to those pilots where is the enemy and where are we. As a result of that, we avoid unnecessary casualties to ourselves and maximize the casualties to our opponents. We dont have that. Even the Air Power that were providing isnt as effective as it has been in the past. Thats why this situation is unfolding so rapidly. Trace i have to go, general.
