But only 21 of respondents said they had a great deal of confidence in newspapers, which of course they get from reading [laughter] it was worse for Tv News at 16 , which was only slightly less than congress at 12 . That is like being told you are only slightly more popular than chlamydia. This after a Reuters Survey showed last among countries when it comes to public trust, we even rank behind canada, and they dont even have electricity. So, youd think an industry witnessing a collapse in their trust might try to figure out why. Not the media. Because their Profit Model is always pointing fingers, so it is impossible for them to implicate themselves, so if the public is sick of their lives, that is the publics fault. They just assume they can smear americans and push policies meant to punish them and we will still be here for them later. Now they are creating a narrative that domestic 9 11 is just around the corner. If we dont do this, then what happens, in your view . Well, look, i think it is our inability to imagine what will happen, which is our greatest danger. Look, the media are a bunch of lying liars. Trump was absolutely right when he said they were the enemy of the people. We joked and glossed over these things, but what the media has done has done significant harm to the country, no institution in the country has lied more done more damage to the nation than the media. You look at the lies they pushed about police, have led to some of the largest spikes across america of deaths, significantly a majority of them are africanamericans, you look at lies about the coronavirus, giving china time to cover up and get rid of any kind of incriminating evidence. All of my editors, the mantra was, and im sure you remember this, the mantra was that every story you ever right, somebody out there is an expert on. Greg right. So every story, you have to make sure you dont get anything wrong because out there, every story has potential to convince all the experts for that story that everything else in this newspaper is full, and if you got it wrong, you ruin it for everybody. We were on a highway or every day, you couldnt get anything you couldnt spell anybodys name wrong. Greg i learned that lesson in my job at the magazine, i was writing health stuff, and i would go i would be writing about diabetes and i would make one mistake, you know, there would be a lot of angry diabetics coming after me. Is this the only industry really that refuses to admit its blunders . What i thought was fascinating was 16 said they didnt trust it, and im thinking, im in the business of trying to find opportunistic investments. I want to do a deal with those people. The 16 that find the media trustworthy. I dont think it is true that this all started three, four, five years ago. I think it hit a point where it is at new levels and it is heightened because of Social Media, but i dont think the media was trustworthy when i was a kid greg right. But the media was lying like crazy about him, but it wasnt the same level with kavanaugh, where there was no accountability.
