Now the violence is getting worse as viral video appears to show a homeless man getting punched and kicked with several people walking by, but never stepping into help. Los angeles County Sheriff Alex villeneuva is down to bring public safety back to the area with his Outreach Team and he joins us now. Sheriff, is this a crisis . This is a whole new meaning of the term crisis, because we have a double crisis. We have the actual problem on the ground, where you see the homeless encampments basically engulf the entire communities in Los Angeles county and then you have the political establishment who says there is no crisis, they dont want to declare a State Of Emergency, they dont want to devote the resources to the problem or acknowledge that they just kind of well we have to be compassionate lets not do anything, literally. That is their approach to the problem, which is getting bigger by the way. Which is clearly naive. Sheriff one thing i noticed when i was on the ground there is in these homeless encampments they have their own system of justice , people that patrol the area, that keep people out of tents. Why is that allowed to happen, is that because of the current ordinance that exists in the area . That is directly related to Mayor Garcettis Decision and the City Council to not enforce any of the restrictions about camping in public spaces, and we have to regulate and reclaim all of these public spaces or as you see , anarchy is whats ensuing, yet they still refuse to admit the obvious. Wow so they get to defund the police, and say they dont want the actual cops there to enforce laws but they get to have vigilante justice within these encampments. Also, target, walgreens and a lot of the other stores in area are starting to close because of the theft, allowing people to run in and steal whatever they want if its under a certain amount because they wont be prosecuted or arrested. Well the architect of that is proposition 47 is our District Attorney George gascon, when he was in san francisco, it worked really well in san francisco when they are being overrun by Homelessness And Lawlessness and now in hada hes the did a that has to prosecute and hes decided not to prosecute misdemeanors and people are realizing wow, theres no laws so ill can do whatever i want. Thats where we are. Even when these stores decide to hire security they are put at risk too when they try to stop these folks thats why they are just stepping out of the way , sheriff. Exactly and thats the sad thing. The big stores can under write some of the losses not all of them like cvs if they are closing or walgreens but the Mom And Pop stores they just close their doors and they are out of business. Lets just get this straight you work, get the money to start your own business, and then the government allows people to come in, steal it, wont replace it, wont prosecute the people, they come in and do it again and youre just left to fend for yourself. The remnants of champlain towers south came down in the matter of seconds after about a day of preparation. Demolition crews imploded what was left of the 13 Story Tower just after 10 30 sunday night. You see the explosives go off and the building comes down as a plume of dust fills the air, and it was thick. I could see it from my hotel about six blocks away, officials were racing to bring that remaining section of the building down before any impact of tropical Storm Elsa could be felt. In terms of the impact for surfside which were obviously very concerned about could see some gusts, but it has tracked west over the last day and a half, moreso than the initial forecast and so well just keep watching that and well be ready, were prepared. Reporter and Rescue Crews are keeping an eye on that storm as well as they continue their search for 121 people who are still unaccounted for at the collapse site. This i in North Miami beach and another in Miami Beach, were forced to close and evacuate hundreds of residents after structural issues were discovered at both buildings over the weekend, and will, if there is something good for folks to linger on here in the miami area, the national Hurricane Center has tropical Storm Elsa trending a little bit more west, so this area could likely miss a direct impact.
