Importance in times right now were dealing with to remember those who help keep us safe. As far as im concerned, the flag represents the most consequencal of all Human Ideals that is freedom. Im been to a lot of countries in my lifetime. There Snow Place on earth there is no place on earth better than this, i would sometimes get a handful of dirt, say i am sure glad to be back here. Whether were democrats or republicans or independents or whenever, were all americans here. What a day, what a year we have had, were here today, celebrating 245 years of america. We have all been sort of reflecting what it means to us all day. Kicking it off with you, lisa, Tell Me about what Independence Day mines to and you your heart . First, this is so much fun, i love you, this is fun to spend tonight with you and folks at home. It means is freedom. The birth of the free nation, the fact you had brave patriots who love this Country Or Love freedom so much they risked their lives to fight tyranny and to birth a constitutional republic that empowered the people and its citizens rather than a government that set up a constitution with checks and balances to restrain the heavy hand of government, this is freedom and living in this beautiful country with beautiful people like you and saying what we want to say without fear of retribution from the government. Joey, so many sacrifices, people have given up so much if bring us where we are today, Tell Me, what you are thinking about today. It is easy to jump down to serious stuff. All friends i have on the way that were laughter on injured, i lost, or injured, i saw a braves and bulldogs logos, it reminded me of all things that i am proud of or associate myself with, they have nothing to do with politics, it would be great to spend a couple hours with everyone at home and celebrate the country. I love that you got the bulldogs in there. You know, were here together, there is so many americans that are working on this day. Our serviceMen And Women. And raymond, you are here with us in new york city, with me. Tell me about your thoughts it has been a joy to work with you today. The it is all mine. What does it mean. It is an honor being with you and our viewers, i get sentimental two times out of the year, July 4, the birthday of my children, and christmas. This is a national holiday, but more than that, you read john adams, he wrote to his wife, right after he signed the declaration, he wrote this day should be solemnized with pomp, parade, and shows illumination from one part of the country to the other, that is what we do, a reminder of the spirit of the people who birthed this country, those who sustained it and those who hold it together today, i am honored. Beautifully put. 245 years, of American Independences thanks to sacrifices made by generations of u. S. ServiceMen And Women, including Tens Of Thousands that serve overseas right now. Tonight. Well head to George Washington former headquarter westpoint, where a new generation is training to lead the millions who volunteer to serve in americas military. On hills of hudson value, are born americas greatest leaders, douglas mccarther, eisenhower and General Patton graduated from elite u. S. Military academy at West Point network. The girl that came here was nervous and scared. Growing up in texas, kennedy it no Family Connection to the military, but it was a Gut Feeling she said that called her to westpoint. I knew it would be hard and a challenge. It was hard, as it is for every new cadet. Who must make it through training. Before graduating to Second Lieutenant who the lead worlds most powerful military. For missouri native John Redmond he had to learn to fall you on before he follow before he could lead. Out of the Tens Of Thousands of young Men And Women who apply to westpoint, less than 10 will make the cut to get in. And most will require a nomination by a member of congress. For senior ted thats was tennessee congressman chuck fleishmann. I hope he saw someone that would not only make him proud but everyone back in our district proud. West Point Band has an important mission, founded in 1817, it traces its lineage to fife, res and drummers. A fled to connections us throughout our tradition of the past. We bring that history to life, what you cant quantify, well illustrate. As westpoint honors the nations rich history it boldly prepares for the future, cad its are well versed in change. I am excited to get afternoon it and see how i could contribute to the fight. The u. S. Is here to lead. We should lead in every frontier. As we celebrate this 4th Of July, they are honoring 245 years of sacrifice. Learning from the leaders who broughts through wars, and carrying the torch that represents who we all are as americans. I think about ronald reagans quote that America Is the shining city on the hill, does not matter in what corner of The World were at, we lead with those values in mind. Those cadets were so impressive, i was grateful to be there, spending time there learning about them, by the Way Kennedy was named after our anchor host kennedy. No way. I thought she was named after the president , she said actually, i was named after the mtv dj. You did a great job. Thank you. Great thank you. You think about how much pressure on the young Men And Women, they are so young, they will one day be leading worlds most powerful military, i want to bring joey in on this, Tell Me what they are walking into. They are impressive. I i tell you, i picked up on, The One cadet said, he wants to be most honest and responsible person he could be, just think about that. As long as we have leaders like that well be okay. Well take you back live at Westpoint 9 30. Well return to westpoint, to light up the night sky. But knock Joey Sit next Joey Sits down with 4 veterans, Men And Women, a conversation about as resilience, do not go away, you dont want to miss it. Only in america all right, Look at those people, there at Lincoln Memorial, getting ready to see fireworks. I dont know if weve seen it that crowded in i guess over a year, well bring you to those live, but first i sit down with 4 combat veterans to talk about July 4, and what makes them proud to be american. I am Proud To Be An American. Why . Because america has given me everything, like it is like i am living The American Dream. I own my own home, i am raising my kids on my own, i have a good job. Why are you Proud To Be An American . Because i didnt give myself what i got. This was paid for me a long time ago. Paved for me a long time ago, that is why. What i did is just a very small minute part. There was a lot of Men And Women, far greater than ill ever be that paid for me to be able do what i do. Ill never what it has given me. Those people did not hesitate, they gave all, whatever, they did not hesitate, they love this country, lets do it. We have quite a bit of americans that feel wa that way. I believe so. For me that is over my lifetime, the land of opportunity. Ive seen other places, you are not born into a cast into this country, you are born into a opportunity. For most part, if you dont be conscious of it, but if you work hard, do things that you should be doing, and that is not joining the crowd, be able to focus on what is right, and versus what is wrong, the opportunities are here for you in this country. Feel this is the best place on the planet with all of its warts. Is there something american about being resilient. Definitely, you got that right. Majority of us at some point got here on a boat. Yep. We are the not a, but the Melting Pot of The World, that is why were so resilient, i remember showing up my first unit. Walking into the gym, and Look around, this is your family now. You dont all Look alike but you bleed the same. Were a resilient nation because of the Men And Women who had the courage to fight, bleed and die for us, to be able to do things we do and take the freedoms that we take for granted of day, myself included. That is why. Because were resilient because of grit and tenacity, have we to be. The sacrifices and love of our country never cease to amyself me, were truly a nation of some incredible patriots. There were three different wars there. And the word out of jakes mouth. This was paid for me a long time ago, and words like resiliency and grit. Beautiful interviews from people who were willing to put their lives at risk to preserve freedom for us, a beautiful story, you tell in that interview, i ask people right now to say they dont love this country, how bad could a nation be when you have the freedom to criticize your own government, without fear of retribution, you cant do that in country like Russia Or China or north korea, were a free nation, we have to preserve the freedom, and value it, continue is floating, the brave veterans know that, that is why they fought. We have to fight at citizens. They know it you could see it in their eyes, to see more of the conversation, sign up for Fox Nation now to watchful the full special, fighting for america. Still ahead, this 4th Of July, brandnew songs from Country Super Star toby keith. The performance, you will not want to miss. For powerful arthritis pain relief. Voltaren the joy of movement living in America Aishah Welcome back, to our Independence Day special. Were Looking at our nations capitol, just minutes ago president biden addressed the nation, take a Look. Thank you. Today we celebrate america. [cheers and applause] freedom, our liberty, our independence. The 4th Of July. Today of history, hope, remembrance and resolve. With promise and possibilities. Before me stands the greatest and the goodness of our nation. Monuments of life, liberty, there is a towering memorial, of George Washington. A general who led our revolution, the president who set our nation on its course. A memorial for thomas jefferson. Whose words about Liberty And Exquality changed world. And across the tidal basin, from the jefferson memorial, stands dr. Martin Luther King Jr. , his arms crossed, his eyes fixed ahead toward the Promise Land where equality is not only an aspiration but a reality. [cheers and applause] they help define who we are. Guide what we do. Remind us of the works that they have given us in our own time. This year. The 4th Of July, a special celebration. Were emerging from the darkness of year of pandemic and isolation, a year of pain, fear and heartbreaking loss. Think back to where this nation was a year ago, to where you were a year ago. Think about how far weve come. [cheers and applause] people waving the american flag. Fans back in their seats, cheering together, families, pressing hands against windows, to grandchildren and grand parents hugs, businesses are opening entirely. Were seeing record job creation, and record economic growth, the best in 4 decades, i might add the best in The World. [cheers and applause] today all across the nation, we could say with confidence, America Is coming back together. 245 years ago we declared our independence from a distance king. Today were closer than ever to declaring our independence from a deadly virus. That is not to say that battle against covid19 is over, we have a lot more work to do. But just as our declaration of 1776 was not a call to was a call to action, not a reason for complies eni, it was a call to action. The same is true today, back then we had the power of an idea on our side, today the power of science. [cheers and applause] thanks to our hurry heroic vaccine efforts. Our economy is roaring back. Dont get me wrong, covid19 has not been we know that powerful variants have emerged. Get vaccinated. [cheers and applause] the most patriotic thing you can do, please, if you have not gotten vaccinated, do it, do it now. For yourself. For your loved ones. For your community. For your country. You know, that is how well stay ahead of this variant. Never again want to be where we were a year ago today. [cheers and applause] today the virus has been vanquished. We know, it no longer controls our lives, and no longer paralyzes our nation. It is within our power to make sure it never does it again. For that, we can thank the scientists, researchers, educators and all other Front Line essential workers like many of you here today. [cheers and applause] you the american been part of one of most remarkable achievements. In this moment of day falls harn those who lost a love one. Number of americans who lost their lives. As of tonight, that number. Sons and daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents. Neighbors, coworkers, we remember all those who we lost this Year Year [inaudible] we have to remember. Remember. Unlike every other nation on earth. We were founded. We hold these truths to be self evidence, all people are created equal. A among them, life, liberty the pursuit of happiness. We have never full fully lived up to the words but we never give up on them. Treats everyone with Dignity And Respect [inaudible] all of the serviceMen And Women here tonight, All Of You serving in The World. [cheers and applause] thank you for your service and sacrifice. Like so many military families, thank you. All part of a long chain for the sake of this nation. Peace and security and opportunity. Every one of us, every american. Each day we reminded [inaudible] and pursuit of happiness. [cheers and applause] drink clean water, and know our children and grandchildren are safe on this planet for generations to come. [cheers and applause] spirit of independence. A nation. We are a great nation. We work to make it great. We unite in common causes. There is no limit to what we can achieve. [applause] today we see the results of unity. Together we are beating the virus, together. Over the past year. We have come through some of our darkest days. The brightest future. This is a special nation, a great nation [inaudible] no matter your Race Or Ethnicity or gender or faith. Unite america. Whether your ancestors are native to the land or immigrants. Or you are coming here today Looking to build a better life for your family, like our fellow americans that i just swore in, in the White House two days ago. The american dream, we use that phrase, The American Dream. It was written a long time ago [inaudible] in history were making. My fellow americans, now were the guardians of the idea of america, it is up to us to save it to preserve it, to build on it. And i know we will. I Look out to those monuments, and beyond them to the hearts of the people across the land, i know this, this is never ever been a good bet to bet against america, never. Remember who we are. We are the united states of america. There is nothing, nothing we cant do if we do it together. Happy 4th Of July america. God bless you. May god protect our troops, thank you, thank you. Joe biden there. On this 4th Of July, from the White House, talking about he declared independent and covid, and talked about struggle of last year, and the monuments reminding us were the united states of america, Raymond What stood out to you. I know it was hard to hear a lot of it. It was. Thability got, he said, we a great nation. We confront our wrongs, that is the right tone, we Cant Focus on the Wrongs Exclusive please. My favorite part, the guardians of the idea of america. The Goard Glawrd guardians, we had the West Point cadets on the Split Screen, those are the guardians, were call by that great charge, i hope we can stay here and wallow in the moment. Beautifully said, thank you raymond. We like too put politics aside for americas birthday, last Independents Day Country star toby keith. Happy birthday in its the 4th Of July. I get to wake up in your freedom, but sometimes i wonder why, sieges like Everythings Pissin on the red, white and blue, happy birthday, america, whatevers left of you. You were the darling when you save The World, wwi and ii. France would just be part of germany now if it not been for you. Now your children want to turn you into something other than yourself. They burn your flag in the city streets. More than anyone else. Happy Birthday America, its the 4th Of July. Ill get to wake up in your freedom. But sometimes i wonder why. Seems like Everybodys Pissin on the red, white and blue. Happy Birthday America whatevers left of you. Who they gonna count on. When you are not there to take their call will The World keep right on spinning without the greatest of them all without the helping hand of god, your days are numbered by old friend were sure gonna miss you girl, you were the best thats ever been happy Birthday America all the broken down cities. By the Lefts Design and the right cant seem to get it right most of the time every time i go to town and vote, i just come home with the blues the lesser of the two evils, all we ever get to choose happy Birthday America its the 4th Of July ill get to wake up in your freedom. But sometimes i wonder why seems like Everybodys Pissin on the red, white and blue happy Birthday America, whatevers left of you happy birthday, america. Happy Birthday America. Whatever it left of you, from toby keith, calling out politicians, and questioning the natures future. With his brandnew song, happy Birthday America. That song was a little bit depressing, clearly, a outLook on where we are as a nation right now, i know you love this nation, you come from a family of imgrants, tell us what there is to be hopeful about this beautiful country. I hope one first thing that people do. As soon as restrictions are lifted, i hope people can travel to other country, get a perspective, first hand, i would agree with veteran that joey talked to, i have been to a country countries, in my 36 years of life, i have seen things, i want to be here, there are country where, it is dangerous to run for office. Life threatening to decent from from the government says, and unstable when military comes over year after year. And the economy is, it is breaking apart, there is a reason that we have Tens Of Thousands of migrants coming from three different countries, if not more. I think that we need too have perspective before we start to criticize our own nation, i think that nation could always be better, i am an immigrant, i understand, that i know what America Is america but like raymond said, lets wallow in this moment for a little bit, how far we have come, lets have some grace for yourselves, we have been 245 years. Well done. And john adams, wanted to us see through the gloom as he did. Their lives were at stake. He wrotes in the Landmark Letter to his wife, he saw the radiant rays of Life And Glory 3 the thh the gloom. I do worry that song made High Y sad, i am not ready to bury america. On July 4, in my hometown of New Orleans, aside from fireworks and crawfish boils and good music, our thoughts turn to World War ii museum. A monument, andrew Jackson Higgens, made one of the decisive battles of World War ii possible. He is a testament on the american spirit. Operation overloader, dday, was largest amphibious attack ever attempted, the plan to take allied troops to nazi occupied france over the English Channel. It would require up to 5,000 ships, moving vehicles, tanks, and more than 150,000 men on to normandys beaches. Allies had a challenge, how do deliver, large numbers of troops and equipment to beaches, that were shall loews. Shall loy. They turned on andrew Jackson Higgens a Boat Manufacturer in New Orleans, he had an idea for Shallow Draft Boats used to navigate the swamps of louisiana, higgens, was certain his swamp boats could play a critical role in the war. The military, initially resisted his overtures, nevertheless, in a sign of his confidence, higgens purchased a crop of philippines mahogany, one of the last shipments before the war ended trade there an inspired purchase, particularly since the marines relented. And higgens put his Landing Craft into production for military use, he would open 7 plants in New Orleans, employee Tens Of Thousands of people and build 20,000 Landing Crafts. What made the boat unique was the bow. The ramp that could deposit men quickly on the beach, unload tanks, be retracted and refilled at the ship. John schick is a care yeah,. The hull makes the boat unique. Almost 10 inches of water with a full load. They added the bow later to increase the efficiency of getting men off. The invasion was a risky operation, the men going ashore spent 48 hours aboard ships waiting deployment, but choppy seas meant most were sea sick, and the invasion of delayed because of bad weather. With time running out, general eisenhower, made the call, that june 6, 1944, would be dday. Providence was kind. The normandy weather was so bad that German Navy canceled their usual patrol of the English Channel and they called off a practice drill. An Allys Deception Campaign made the germans think that up invasion would happen at calais, they were wrong. They heard general eisenhower. You are about to embark on the great crusade, the eyes of The World are upon you, you will bring about the Disvehicle Destf the germany war machine, and security for yourselves in a free world. Higgens boat allows 36 infantry men to hit the beaches of normandy in 19 seconds, the a the bridge to the beach. Without higgens and his boat there would are been no dday. The world might have been a different place if not for higgens, eisenhower and The Boys on the beach. Joey. My thoughts go to the fighting men and wim. Women, we often forget what people on Home Front do. They do everything, they are reason we fight. Justed levity to this. You and i should both talk about wallowing in moment, higgens and i would say we wouldo wallowed on the boat, this that is what America Is about, there are so many people, smart, we fight, we win. Much more coming up in next hour, live fireworks from dc and West Point, but now John Rich in nashville for his hit song, save a horse, ride a cowboy. I am sure it caused a small baby boom. It goes like this quaryb are walk into the room sing it can i ride to the city girls say, save a horse, ride a Cowboy Everyone say, save a horse, ride a cowboy i dont give a damn im singing and bling, blinging while the girls are singing i would not trade. We also had back to West Point for fireworks spectacular and also get a taste of americas first Cocktail Raymond is very excited about that. There is a new Orleans Connection i will not ruin that. But first a Look at Independence Day across the great country. Anytime we get an opportunity to celebrate being an american that is awesome. Im really excited this year to have fourth of july in the normal way. Its so important especially in a time like now because we remember those who help to keep a safe. As far as i am concerned the flag represents the most consequential of all Human Ideals and that is freedom. I have been to a lot of countries in my lifetime and there is no place on earth any better than this sometimes i go back and get a handful of the or sam glad to be back here. Democrats or republicans or independents, we are all americans. As i Look at those images and listen to those testimonials, i am reminded of Jon Adams i have been invoking for days. Every year i read that letter he wrote to abigail adams. He lays out a vision of what this day should be. Solemn and celebration. And i moment of unity for us all to come together. He writes about the great conflict he felt about the cost and the toil and the blood he knew the Declaration Of Independence of what liberty would mean of this country. He said i can see beyond the gloom the ravishing rays of light and glory. Your story of an immigrant family, that is one of those ravishing lights of glory. Tell me about your story. How did you come here and what this country means to your Mom And Dad and you . Aishah i am living the definition of The American Dream. My parents are with my Aunt And Uncle who sponsored our immigration at the first town we ever lived in when we first immigrated to america. My uncle was a Lieutenant Commander in the u. S. Navy and they sponsored us. My dad left a very cushy job. He had everything. But he wanted every opportunity for his three kids and he wanted us to have the best education possible. He realized that his degrees mattered. The first job in the united states was in a jackinthebox. He was a cook and then jcpenneys and then school. He completed undergrad into a half years. Just to get quickly to the point to take care of us and get us into the best situation so we could become whoever we wanted to be. That was the point of it all to give us the opportunity we didnt leave on live in a country to need connections or be born and a certain class. He wanted us to have everything. I remember to this day helping my Mom Study for the immigration exam. People to understand how hard that is. My mom speaking Broken English we would stay up all night to get her to pass the test. I remember the day my parents took the oath we were standing there in indianapolis. I was so proud. Now i will get emotional. Because my dad and i talk about this all the time. He reminds us three kids we have at all. I have no complaints about my life. We have it all. My dad always try to remind us remember where you came from and what we gave up we did it for you. I will always remember that. We can have the line anywhere or stayed in pakistan but my parents chose to come here because this country is so beautiful and continues to give us more and more and more and i couldnt be more great feel one grateful. I am The American Dream. Raymond i was thinking of my dad growing up in central america literally lived in a house with dirt on the floor. Came here as a marine. He had a Day Job at night Fixing Cars after dinner. That is the hustle and the drive in The American Dream and action. He became a marine joe we like you so why did you sign up and want to serve your country . What was it . We need to know this you are The American Dream and why we go to war to protect people like you and your family. I say that everyone sitting at home right now. Understand dont let any political narrative convince you that people for this country dont five everybody in it and they dont love every single person in it. Unity may be that we are just americans. Im proud of this country. I would lay my life down for it tomorrow and i had that in me when i joined at 18. Raymond listening to biden mention washington, mlk memorial, jefferson memorial. Washington and jefferson got no applause. Lisa that is a problem. They should get applause. I am living in Miami Florida right now one of My Favorite Things is conversations ive had with people from Cuba And Venezuela to go from countries that were once free and to lose that freedom to communism and socialism. I had the opportunity to interview on my podcast from the Rnc Convention a warrant that communism was on our soil. People are willing to sacrifice their lives to fight for freedoms. So we have to appreciate that sacrifice this nation what it stands for where anybody can come here. To practice the religion and the freedom to pull themselves up from the bootstraps. You could build something. That we are being tested right now and with government lockdowns and tyranny , shutting down businesses, preventing people from going to church. We have to fight for that freedom. Aishah the Firework Show in Washington Dc is underway lets watch at our Nations Capital. Im Proud To Be An American were at least i know im free. And i will forget the men who died who gave that right to me. And ill gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today. There a now doubt i love this land. God bless the usa. T to. Player hands together for this World War ii hero. God bless you and thank you for your service to our country. What an incredible display celebrating 245 years of this great country. Jon Richards Performance on performance. 102 yearold World War ii hero celebrating i was weeping because i spent so many years with my babies who are now fully grown on that mall near that capital that is where our democracy was shaped at the other and at arlington are the defenders of that democracy and the fireworks play out in the middle but this is like and national a national liturgy and we should agree to spend a moment we remembering the cost of this freedom and the beauty and the blessing of being in this country.
