And around the world dealing with a different variant now in london and europe, the Delta Variant. Where are we . Well, we are doing very well right now, bret. We always have to be humble and recognize that things could change. And we have got to keep an eye on what we call Delta Variant, which is the variant in the u. K. Right now. It looks like it may be causing a small bump in younger unvaccinated people. But in the united states 80 to 85 of adults now have immunity. And thats why we are seeing caseS Plummet and Activity Resume with very low levels of background infection. Bret so four people who have had covid before and they have been through the illness and whether they went to the hospital or not, they are over it, should they continue on to get vaccination because of what is out there . I would recommend one dose now in that population. Having covid probably gives you lifelong immunity, there has been a lot of studies which i summarized today in the wall street journal, showing that natural immunity is durable. Its effective. It works and it works so far. Shows that in at least one calculation of 1300 people zero developed the infection subsequently. Bret admiral, when you look at what was brought up, the vaccination program, under the Trump Administration, and now how its distributed under the biden administration. The country has gone a long way. 300 Million plus shots in arms. Where do you think we go from here as we head towards the fall and the uncertainty ahead . Well, look, i think we always have to be prepared for anything. And i think we are going to attract variances overseas. We will learn a lot about the variants overseas before the fall. Right now we have got to move on and live a normal life and turn our attention to other infections and medical problems in society. If you look where we are right now, we are at about 150th the daily cases of a regular seasonal flu here in the middle of that flu season. So people have a distorted perception of risks. Bret 1 50th. We do have to be careful of the Delta Variant because we dont know how much preexisting immunity against the Normal Type will provide against delta. What we do know is that vaccination is very effective even against the Delta Variant. Could you need your two doses but i do agree with dr. Makary the data are clear if you get dofd and have one dose your Protection Level is equal tore or equal to people who didnt have covid and got two doses. We are very aligned. Do be careful of delta. Dont be alarmed. We are in very good position. Get your vaccine whether you have had covid or not. Bret admiral, what do you say there iS Polls out that say that people who havent gotten vaccination for one reach or another scared of it, skeptical of the government. They dont know whether they want to wait until another iteration of the vaccine, 78 of them said they are not going to go forward and get it what do you tell those people about the vaccination . Well, i think we have to be completely honest with the american people. As i think for the most part we have been. We have hundreds of millions of people that have been vaccinated. We know that the vaccines have very safe and they are very effective. We have to keep working with individuals on that. I agree with dr. Makary. We are in a very good place right now. We are not 100 percent out of the woods. There can still be transmission and bumps in the fall. And we should approach this with some care. I do support vaccination. I hope everyone does get vaccinated. We have to keep getting fact. Dont manipulate data or shape the data as the cdc has tried to do in the last few weeks. I think thiS President will be blunt with putin and certainly wont side with President Putin over privately or publicly. China looms as large as any issue here. The massive investments they are making in energy, technology, medical research, and around the globe not only in their country but around the globe and helping to win allies is something we have to counter. Im encouraged by what President Biden and his team are talking about as it relates to Building Coalitions against china and against russia. And we ought to take care of our business here at home and making the right and smarted investments in our own Infrastructure Growth over the next 10 years. Well, i think a number of different factors are a part of this trip, obviously. But, you know, Joe Biden is very familiar to all of these different people. They are very well aware of what hiS Perspective is on the globe, and i think they are also well aware that he is already telegraphing a level of sensitivity when it relates to china about the nature of any potential confrontation. Indicating i think early on, unfortunately within this administration a reluctance to push back against china whether it relates to this Lab Leak investigation, whether it relates to a number of different Trade And Policy issues. And that that is something that is indicative of a feeling that america is not necessarily operating from the perspective of viewing our role as being ready to Stand By taiwan, Stand By our allies and one thats more reluctant to take on china in a more direct fashion. We saw what happened in alaska when We Saw these various arguments deployed by chinese representatives that were very negative about america and our history as it relates to race.
