And its been very meaningful to All Of Us that have taken part in it, and i dont think any of us that went on those trips will ever be the psalm. Pete absolutely. Colonel, you spent six years in the hanoi hilton, you were a prisoner of war, yet you participate in this program that talks students with you to understand your experience. What was that like . It was wonderful. I enjoyed it so much, and the students enjoyed it, but they were very interested, and the other veterans that went on the trip talked like you never heard a veteran talk before. Pete opened up. Lily, that must be almost intimidating, going back going to vietnam with someone who served there. What did you take away from that . As a current third grade teacher, this trip has incredibly impacted the way i teach. These men like colonel John Clark have impacted the way that i teach. Like the president said, nothing was ever the same once i came back. Pete what changed . My awareness, my appreciation, saying that Freedom Isnt free, you never know the cost until you sit down with a veteran and you actually hear the price that they pay. Pete absolutely. Dr. Davis, youve made spreading the appreciation for freedom your Lifes Mission there at the college of the ozarkses. Youre sitting in front of that beautiful memorial you have there honoring those who served, honoring our great country. Are we doing enough as a Nation To spread that appreciation . We certainly have not been doing enough, and i think we have an opportunity now given the condition of our culture to reaffirm just, in fact, what america represents. And back during the 60s when things were coming apart, the military was blamed for everything. I mean, it was used as a scapegoat for every conceivable grievance in society. Now we have people running around taking it out on the police. What we ought to be doing is be glad that we have people who are willing to serve in uniform be it military or police that make our lives safe and possible, and more credit needs to be given to these people. I had two brothers in vietnam. My younger brother was a Combat Veteran. His wife was part of a Gold Star family. I dont need anybody to tell me what sacrifice is about. If you look at the wall behind me here, you see the names of 1410 from missouri that died during the war out of the 58,000 or so on the wall in washington d. C. This should be a reminder to All Of Us. And the comments made earlier from the president and Vice President , to me, are not inspiring at all. I mean, on Memorial Day of all days, we ought to thank god we hiv in this country. And for those who live in this country and for those people who defend it. And we should support them any way we could. And we need to do more, and it especially needs to start in the educational system. Pete well, youre doing it, dr. Davis. Unfortunately, 2 were deceased of the 20 injured, transported to the hospital, my condolences to the families. This Gun Violence issues gotta stop. Our homicide teams are out there, theyre following up on leads. Were asking for the communitys help, and, you know, were just working it hard and trying to bring justice to the families and put an end to this situation. I mean, this is horrible. Carley you say it was a white Nissan Pathfinder, thats going to be critical to apprehending these suspects. What are police doing right now to catch these guys . Right now were canvassing the area. Were looking at videos from the strip mall. Houston methodist hospital is requiring every employee to require proof of vaccination by June 7th or their job could be at risk. Our next guest was fired earlier this year after refusing to be vaccinated. Bob nevin and his attorney join us now. They said you need to get a vaccine, you said no, now youre unemployed . Thats a great summary, thanks for having me. Yeah. I was fired after giving two weeks to make the decision to take the vaccine. That was on april 1st. On April 15th i was put on a two week unpaid suspension and then, ultimately, on April 29th i was fired for not taking the experimental vaccine. Will and, bob, what is your hesitation . Why do you not want to either do it at your employers mandate or make that choice for yourself . Well, i think me and just all the other employees at methodist who are involved in the lawsuit, we simply wanted more time to9 wait until its fdaapproved, til its timetested. Thats really the main thing behind it. I think everybody has their own personal Situation And Experience with covid, and at the time this was all happening being mandated for my employment, you know, i was having Friends Experience severe Side Effects from it, and, you know, that ultimately played into my decision. But i think everybody has their own personal experience with covid, and thats what mine led me to. Will jared, bob brought up an interesting point, the vaccine is still only proven for Emergency Use. Weve talked throughout the morning with various attorneys and experts, and it does appear that employers do have the ability to mandate. So tell us what your suit, what law your institute hinges on. Sure. And, you know, this is the first time in the history of our country where weve had a private employer come in and say to its employees as a condition of employment, youre going to have to be a human guinea pig. Youre going to have to be part of an experimental vaccine trial. What we do know is federal law makes it very clear, as does state law, that you Cant Force Someone to be part of an experimental vaccine trial. So in this case what we have is the defendant, Houston Methodist, who is saying this and using it to promote profits, theyre seasoning out Marketing Material sending out Marketing Material saying all of our employees have received this experimental vaccine, and because they have done so, you should lee your particular leave your particular Health Care Provider and come to us. The problem with that line of marketing is youre saying to folks like bob that youre going to be our test case. And for folks like bob and the 107 other folks that i represent, this is a question of being able to pay their house notes, pay their car notes, provide for their families and avoid bankruptcy, and its just plain wrong. Will i want to read to you statement from Houston Methodist. 99 of Houston Methodist, 26,000 employees have met the requirements. Its the unfortunate that a few remaining employees who refuse to get vaccinated and put our patients first are responding in this way. Will so we failed by opting out. What would we have been doing . Tell us about the competition first, lieutenant singer. What would you be showing us were it not a driving rain . Well, first, wed put a heavy rock on your back and start taking you up and down times square for a few hours [laughter] then probably some pushups in there, then go to a range. Wed mix it up a little bit. I think thats what makes it so hard, it really challenges multiple skills. Pete youre on to something, First Lieutenant. Some of the portions of the ranger competition, youre told to start marching or told to start running, and you dont know how long or how far youll be marching. It could be 8 miles, it could be 25. Am i right . Absolutely. Thats pete how do you prepare for thatsome. Really you flare training. Preparation prepare in training. We started about four or five months ahead of time and really tried to just become the most wellrounded soldiers and war fighters that educational we cot to set ourselves up for success. Will so its twoman teams, right . You and i could have been a Team Pete last place team. So how sure are you that this congressional investigation will take place, and what sort of information can congress garner through an investigation . Right. For over a year now, youve had many members of congress and medical experts speculating that this virus may have actually started in a lab in wuhan. Not what we were told at the beginning, that it was only bat to human, that it couldnt have been started in a lab. Now theres even more science and scientists coming forward that it might have started in a lab, and yet Speaker Pelosi wont let any of the standing committees investigate this. Weve been calling for it. Im the lead republican on this special select subcommittee on the coronavirus. Even that committee on the coronavirus will not have a hearing on the origins of the virus. Hundreds of thousands of americans dead, millions if worldwide. China and the w. H. O. Covered so much up at the very beginning, and yet they still wont investigate where this started even as more scientists are saying it very well could have started in a lab as many of us said a year ago to a lot of criticism9 from the left. Carley so why is Speaker Pelosi not Moving On this, and do you think she eventually will . Well, its a good question why shes not. Theres so many questions about why theyve been covering up for china in the democratled house right now, you know, why they wont aggressively hold china accountable, why they wont investigate the originses. You even have some democrats finally starting to see we need to have this investigation, and yet Speaker Pelosi wont allow any of the standing committees to have those very investigations. Not one of them has done it. The China Commission that we have started up, Mike Mccall chaired that, she walked away from that committee. Even then they started laying that out a year ago. Weve known for a long time this may have started in a lab in wuhan. We were getting reports of that. And look at some of the scientists in china who were getting ill early on from that Wuhan Lab, and yet they wont have an investigation on it. I dont think what its going the take, but i think a lot of this noise is starting to break through where Speaker Pelosis feeling the heat. Carley speaking of investigations, President Biden just called for a 90day Investigation into this very topic, and the New York times says he called for that after the intelligence agents said that theres this trove of evidence that has yet to be looked into. Do you know anything about what that ed might be and ived might be and why it hasnt been looked into yet . I cant go into classified information, but just from what youve seen in published reports by respected scientists that are now starting to openly speculate that it may have started in that lab, a lot of strange questions about what was going on in that a lab in wuhan. Very coincidental that you had scientists in the lab getting sick, you had the origin of the virus started in that city, and yet they act as if the Lab Wasnt even there. We all know the lab was there, and theres very serious questions about the chinese communist Partys Involvement in that lab. We ought to know about it, the world ought to know about it.
