We hear nothing about these socalled leaders going and preaching their funerals. We can see the socalled leaders going out there, preaching the funerals of people who have been shot by Police Officers and killed. But what about these young kids . Theyre dying. Theyre dying in black communities. Just alone this year in chicago, theres been 865 shootings. The majority of those are Black Kids in the black communities yes, black Lives Matter. But the young black Lives Matter of these children, they matter. And if i ask any of our audience who is Jocelyn Adams . Who is she . Shes a human being. She has feelings. Shes now dead. Shes dead as a result of being shot is in one of these communities. Black Lives Matter, her life matter. When those Police Officers said you better get the heck out of there. They ceded to the gangs, to criminals in the Street And Weve seen these children and everyone else that got killed because of it, because of that void that was created after that night. It is so hurting because we got innocent people who are dying at the hands of criminals out here. We dont give a damn. Were focused on Law Enforcement officers. The authority to enforce will be given to t. S. A. T. S. A. Was given Pipeline Security after 911 but only employs five trained regulators to oversee this task. Cyber defense guidelines for the 3,000 companies that run the pipelines have been voluntary till now. Our constituents are on the front lines of these attacks and yet they cant they dont know what their country is doing to respond. Thats a difficult position. What you do should be under the radar. Theres a real sense of theres no deterrence. The former Vice Chairman of the joint chiefs wrote about the need to go on cyber offense ten years ago. Weve been trying to get this going for some time. So our audience understands, the critical infrastructure of the united states, which is largely in the private sector except for our nuclear weapons is very vulnerable. This is finance, banking, telecommunications, utilities, infrastructure, all the major transportation, Air And Ground systems, rail, et cetera. That is largely exposed. We have to work with the government in a public private partnership. People have been talking about this for 10 or 15 years trying to get legislation passed to do it. This is finally a Wakeup Call to get moving in this direction. The problem is the private sector doesnt want to share this with anybody because it hurts their competitive advantage over the peers. The government doesnt want to share their data because they dont want to get it out into the open sources. So we have to overcome those obstacles and work together. This is a good thing to get going with just that, martha. Martha the role of government is national security. Where these companies have national networks that affect and impact our national security, there has to be some coordination there. Ransom. Should these companies be paying ransom to get unlocked from this Cyber Attack . I think where the government will come out on that, theyre going to continue to discourage paying ransom. In the same respect, some of these companies are being held hostage here and its debilitating to the competitiveness of the company and can challenge their s sovereignsy. I spoke to a company well known in this country that was hit by ransomware. They paid. They got it down. I said why did you pay up . They said i didnt think i had a choice. It was going to push us off the cliff. Thats the reality of what the companies are facing. Heres the other thing the united States Government has to do. Russia is sanctioning and permitting this criminal activity because it undermines and disrupts western democracies. That is in russias national interest that this is happening. The fact that they oversee it and its wrong when the president says the russia didnt pull the trigger. That may be true. The other implication is that russia approves it and sanctions it. We should be sanctioning russia for it and going after them and holding them accountable for it. Martha great point. General jack keane, thank you very much.
